Guest Reviews
Y me quedaría aquí otra vez nomas si mi primera opción no estuviera disponible.
- Radostin K (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay!! Absolutely clean! People that work there are amazing!! Friendly and very helpful!! The hospitality is on top level!!
Very close to Zocalo, where everything is!!!
The food in the restaurant is purely delicious!!!
If we come back to Cuernavaca, there is not a doubt that we will stay at Flor de Mayo again!!!
- Raul (10/5): - Hello
- Valeria (6/5): - Muy solitario, mal servicio, lentos
- Martha Alicia (6/5): - The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Everything is quite new, a bit tacky but not overwhelming.
The problem is the staff, they can’t seem to make an extra effort to make you comfortable or solve a situation. Even with the simplest things. They offer early check in, with a cost, but because there was a large group asking for it they decided to cancel it for everyone.
We were going to a wedding and instead of facilitating our stay we had to change clothes in a restroom at the wedding venue, stash our luggage in the car and check in the hotel at 11pm. They could have had larger profits but could not make an effort to accommodate us.
At breakfast the waiter was very polite but unable to make a simple request to serve the whipped cream on the side instead of on top of the bread.
Overall our stay was nice but it could have been great. Lots of people go to Cuernavaca for weddings. I hope their service and flexibility improves.
- adriana magdalena (10/5): - Excelente!
- JOSE GERARDO (8/5): - A
- Andres (10/5): - Le restauran
- Javier (6/5): - Not a 4 star hotel
- Luis Fernando (8/5): - Un hotel
No había agua caliente.
- Susie (10/5): - I liked that it was close to almost everything
- Raul Mendez (10/5): - Muy amena
- 471debashishs (2/5): its a cheap motel and the photos are deceptive - This is a cheap motel, definitely not a 5 star hotel. We felt like we got scammed. The rooms were not nice or clean at all. there were no amenities. and we paid $100 a night. I gave 1 star because the stuff were very nice and friendly.
The owner/management is definately ripping people off. Dont trust the photos. The hotel looks nothing like it
- Itzel (10/5): - Todo bien
- Regina (2/5): - There was not water, no air conditioning control and the staff service was really poor. The room was not ready on time. Way too expensive for what it has to offer.
- Catalina (8/5): - Muy bien ubicado
- Francisco (10/5): - La atención impecable! Todo limpio y seguro
- 440carlosu (4/5): Needs maintenance - Service is very good, all the hotel personal are great. The hotel needs important things to fixed, towels were dirty and cleaning utensils were left on the room. The pool bar and roof top were closed. Breakfast is not included as listed on TripAdvisor, just when you reserve directly on their webpage
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pictures are misleading. It's crammed up a small street with lots of graffiti outside. Granted not totally their fault how the surrounding streets are. Reception is shabby. Room was ok. No water or drinks in the fridge. Couldn't access the AC unit behind a wooden unit it was housed in.
We came back from a night out about 2am to the hotel totally locked up. There was no doorbell or way to alert anyone. We called three times to try to get in. The first time the guy told us we were in the wrong place. Finally after bashing on the metal doors someone came and let us in. For the price it's not worth it. Paid the same for the Hyatt Regency in Polanco.
- JOSEPH (6/5): A Pretty Good Getaway Hotel - First of all, I want to say that there are many great parts of this hotel. The people who work there are friendly, fast and responsive to any requests. The rooms and landscaping need a little love, but all common spaces are clean. The pool and seating areas are not terribly comfortable; metal furniture with no cushions, the umbrellas are ripped and the plants are a little overgrown. The pool was clean and warm and the waiter was very attentive. The room was quiet and after a little help with the a/c it worked well. Water pressure in the shower was the BEST. The location is a 10 minute walk from the main plaza. With a little maintenance and care this is a very lovely hotel.
- Jorge (8/5): CoZy - Cozy and nice, service was excelente
- Lara (10/5): Excelente servicio y trato! - Excelente servicio y trato.
- Seana (10/5): - They were very accommodating. The staff opened up the pool area for us after we returned from a late dinner. We were able to enjoy a bottle of wine up there. It was romantic
- Gary (8/5): - Property was delightful , pool was warm , missing a few things in room , microwave , kettle but the staff supplied what was missing in service , owner (manager) was very helpful in always , enjoyed very much
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Buenos detalles , limpio y ameno
- Alfonso (4/5): AVOID THIS HOTEL! - Never staying in this hotel again. I booked a "Jr Suite" which is definitely not a suite. So this is deceiving from the start. The room has a horrible bathroom with a shower that only has a curtain and a floor that is 4 inches below the bathroom floor, so the water splashes everywhere. This looks extremely poor.
Service is good when there is service. We were in the pool on Saturday morning and no one was there to get us food/drinks. One guy passed by and said somebody would be with us shortly. 20 minutes passed and I decided to call the hotel (the pool is in the rooftop, the lobby is on the bottom floor). They said they would send someone immediately. Another 5 minutes went by without anyone showing up. I then called a second time and complained. Finally, someone showed up and took our order. 5-10 minutes later, another waiter arrived with our food/drinks, but received a radio or phone call and proceeded to take the call without handing us our food/drinks until I asked him to a couple of minutes later.
I also booked an 80 minute massage that ended up being 120 minutes. This would normally be a good thing (I got 120 for the price of 80), but this miscalculation made me late to an important commitment (a wedding).
I asked if they could iron a shirt, and they gave me an iron but no ironing board.
The WiFi in the hotel is suuuuper slow.
The only great thing this hotel has is a waiter named Eduardo (Lalo). His service was great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): if you want a guaranteed room, don't stay here - The hotel itself is quite nice, and as a whole the staff are very friendly and helpful. However, the service during checkin is the worst we have ever encountered. The checkin process took more than an hour as they had only allocated one room to our reservation even though we booked 2 under the same reservation and it was clearly set out in the hotels.com confirmation. Instead of trying to find a solution and be apologetic about the situation, they argued with us for close to an hour saying they had received a cancellation (this was for alternative dates as we pointed out). As the hotel was full, they had to provide us with a room from someone who had not turned up yet (it was only 6pm). This solution would have been fine if they indicated the room was a lower class of room (and cheaper) than what we had booked. However, they initially presented us with the higher tariff until we queried what type of room it was and obviously asked for the lower corresponding price. While they did allow our dog to stay free of the normal surcharge as a consolation, this was not offered until after we had completed the checkin process and was the first and only apology provided.
- nancy (10/5): Hidden Gem - I highly recommend staying at this hotel! I was amazed in seeing it once we entered. The room was comfortable and spacious. Every staff member treated us kindly and made us feel welcome. The location is ideal, about 10 minutes from the main center of Cuernavaca. We used the rooftop pool which was relaxing after a day of walking in the town. The dinner that was included was delicious. What an experience! I enjoyed every single plate served. I would stay again here if I had the chance.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel is beautiful. I love the central patio, it was so beautiful and relaxing with all of the plants. The view from the pool and roof top deck is stunning. The staff was all very helpful and the food delicious. We had a wonderful stay at Flor de Mayo. I wish we had stayed longer.
- stevesM1975QD (2/5): Nasty and Terrible Service - Really need some better cleaning and maintenance. Room 37 Bathroom was nasty, not properly cleaned and with mold on the shower curtains which made me feel disgusted to even touch them. Ripped curtains in the bedroom and the darken curtains were impossible to use; the bedside lamp didn’t work, the chair was dirty. Extremely noisy, they had live music every day and I could hear everything even If we weren’t interested, very annoying. Supposedly they have service by the pool but at no time we went there was someone to help, and we r talking about working hours for the pool, in the morning and afternoon. They offered a complementary Italian buffet dinner but don’t bother, it was very bad, salty, dry and just not appetizing, not sure how many times they reuse all dishes. We mentioned all of this to the front desk staff and also filled up a review survey sheet but they clearly didn’t care, even the person who seemed the FD manager/ supervisor didn’t even apologize, she was more concentrated on charging us for the $55 pesos beer (less than USD$3) than what we were saying about our stay. She saw us back again when we picked up our car and nothing, not a word, nor followup. These people should be ashamed of the job they are doing. Staff is not trained to clean properly, served properly or even care about complains properly. The only good thing they have is a very polite and smiley bellboy, he deserved a better place to work.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The personnel at flor the mayo are very courteous and go out of their way to satisfy your needs. The food at he Restaurant is good and the waiters are excellent.
The air conditioning system is not very good in The room we stayed at, but it was not too hot. Personally I like colder when I sleep.
- Jose (10/5): - The staff is one of the best I encountered. Nice, responsive, and cheerful. They went out of their way to help us.
- mihoegnor (10/5): Excellent service - We stayed one night in early July 2018.
Cuernavaca itself was not that impressive for me (partly because we could not see the Herman Cortez palace nor cathedral due to the renovation from the earthquake damage that happened in Sep 2017).
But our stay in this hotel made us feel very special. People who work there were very nice. We were recommended to stay in other hotel (Mañanitas for price of $250 a night or more), but I am so happy that we chose this clean nice hotel that is very accessible by walking to Centro. Online booking will give you the better deal. On site reservation was around $3,300 pesos ($165-ish) including dinner (not breakfast).
The dinner came with salad, main dish (we had chicken), the local dessert. (Drinks were not included). The live jazz performance added to the atmosphere. Local classy Mexican people started to come to eat around 8:30 pm, and it gets busier.
We had the room with bathtub that was very relaxing, so we went back to our room.
Only drawback to add (to our experience) was that
Even though they have a wonderful rooftop bar and small swimming pool, we could not enjoy because there was a private party going on . I recommend to check the availability to public if you want to enjoy the bar on the roof.
- laurengkt (2/5): Disastrous stay - I had high expectations for this place but the hotel managed to squash all of them. Upon arrival, the elevator was not working so we had to walk up four flights of stairs to the room (we got the last room in the hotel). We left in a hurry to attend a wedding. We came back at 7am and asked the front desk for a couple of bottles of water, but the guy at the reception said he didn’t have any (how is this possible at 7am in a hotel?) and suggested the perrier from the minibar in our room. After climbing the stairs yet again we got to the room and while brushing our teeth and getting ready for bed we realized we had no hand soap or hand towels. We made do with what was there and went to bed. That didn’t last long either. The air conditioner was not working so the room got very hot and humid. Then, at around 10am a mariachi trio started playing so there was no way to get any sleep. We called again for water and it was brought up to the room with a bill (they offer complimentary water bottles), I also asked them to please quiet the band so we could get some rest and they agreed- for about ten minutes. I finally woke up and called reception again to ask the for some peace and quiet and the lady that answered the phone started laughing at me so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager, EDGAR ARREOLA, was rude in the first place saying that they always had the band and they had already done us a great favor in quieting the band for a bit. I said that I came to the hotel to sleep and this was not really working: the band, the air conditioner, the water, the missing amenities, and now that I wanted a coffee the machine in the room was also broken (just my luck!) The manager asked me what room I was in to which I answered “the worst room you have” and he said, “oh you are in room 53”. That did it for me. If you know it is the worst room, why give it to a paying customer? He finally agreed to give us half of our money back (we had to pay upon arrival) and treat us to breakfast. But that wasn’t true either. We ordered breakfast and when we finished the waiter brought us the bill saying that what we ordered wasn’t part of the “American breakfast”. What American breakfast? We had to pay of course. We got ready to leave and went to the front desk to ask about our refund and the guy there asked us for bank account details and said he would make a deposit the following day. It has been almost three weeks and we still don’t have our money back. The hotel claims they are having “bank trouble” but I believe it’s just another excuse and the manager was lying when he offered the refund, like he lied about breakfast.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. Don’t ruin your stay in beautiful Cuernavaca because of a hotel’s lack of attention to detail. It is not worth it.
- Benjamin (2/5): Are you a hotel or a night club? - The hotel wants to be a night club and have loud music and little to no patrons at the night club. Do to this fact, we were not able to sleep and needed to be up early the next day. Very unfortunate situation. If you want to sleep, don't stay here.
- winterX10 (2/5): The "Security Box" Is Not Secure - This is my first negative review. I research hotels carefully and so we have been very happy until the last day of our stay at Flor de Mayo. On the morning that we were leaving, we discovered that someone had gained entry to our "safe" and robbed us. We stayed at the hotel from February 4-10. I was attending ASLI Spanish Institute for 2 weeks. We loved the hotel (until we were robbed). The weekend was busy but during the weekdays, it was just us and sometimes another couple or two. When I arrived on January 29, I converted $200 dollars to pesos at the airport
($200 dollars = $3830 pesos). In addition, I had $160 dollars in refunds for down payment and changing to half days the second week. The $60 dollars I received in pesos. I did not change the $100 dollar bill. My husband brought down $700 dlls on Feb. 4. We changed $300 dlls. of his money to pesos at the airport. I didn't spend much the first week; I stayed with a family. Once at the hotel, we kept our money in the "security" box. On February 8, we were going to Tepotzlán for the afternoon, so we thought we should change some dollars to pesos to supplement what we already had. When I pulled out a $100 dollar bill, a $100 peso bill came out with it. With that $100 peso, we knew we had enough Mexican currency & we could wait to change money. I returned the $100 dlls to safe & locked it. We had not had a bedding change yet (per our request), only towels, garbage, water, so we asked housekeeper to change the bedding when we were leaving. I believe we were the only guests in the hotel too. Very quiet. We did not open the safe until the day we were checking out (the 10th). I could not open it. Flashed "error..." I could not re-set it either. A worker came up and opened it with the master key. The envelope was nearly flat. It contained $140 dollars in 20's. The $100 dollar bill that I saw on Wednesday the 8th was gone. The amount that was left in dollars was not even. At the airport, we cashed in only even amounts (like $300). I believe we were robbed of $260 dollars. We were sick. We couldn't eat breakfast. We just left. My husband felt that we would never get our money back. (True). Four days after returning, I started putting these "coincidences" together, so I wrote to hotel management on Feb 18, Feb 25, and March 3. Finally, a reply that said "...we find it confusing you never state the amount...in the safe" So, I sent the facts in numbered points. That was March 5th. No response. It is true that we were unsure of the exact amount in the safe. I had taken a bus to the Mexico City airport to accompany my husband to Cuernavaca. He had woken up at 4 a.m. I have told management that we accepted that our money would not be returned, but that we deserved an investigation into it. If I was management, I would be very concerned. There is a thief in their house.
- brittannyt (10/5): Awesome - Such a warm, welcoming & helpful staff, they really go beyond in their desires to assist you with your needs & to make for a great stay. The hotel is beautiful & just a cool 10 minute walk to the zocalo, extremely convenient location with great secured parking. Awesome breakfast & great restaurant space with breakfast included, heated rooftop pool & terrace, open airy feel as all the rooms face the central courtyard restaurant covered in beautiful plants. The rooms are super clean, well appointed with all you could want & need, a/c, airy windows, tv, mini refrigerator, coffee machine, mini bar, good furniture, safety box, shower with good water pressure & hot water, hangers... really a perfect relaxing & perfect stay. There's also a lovely spa offering massages & fiends. Very welcoming to pets & the parking lot has lovely grass spaces making it a truly pet friendly hotel. More than recommend for all!
- Extraordinary262871 (10/5): Excellent Hotel!! - I m visiting Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico and a friend of mine recommended this Hotel and she was right. I was welcomed by a friendly staff, the room is spacious, very clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The food is amazing, just as an example, I recommend chicken breast al tabasco, atun en costra de anis, mayo eggs and flor de calabaza soup and you most try "bala perdida" beer, an excellent craft beer.
I also highly recommend Berenice for a great massage and facial, she is the best here. There are different kinds, but I had holistic package, that includes a massage using hot rocks, it was great.
I highly recommend this Hotel.
- travelalways312 (10/5): Suprisingly wonderful stay in this boutique hotel - Did not expect this hotel to be so lovely!
Arrival was smooth, we had a wedding to attend, thus we arrived earlier than check-in time. But the front desk staff was great and they had a room ready for us. Everyone was very helpful and polite, we quickly got a few bottles of water and iron that we requested.
The room is simple, but spacious and clean. In the bathroom there were all the amenities needed (shaving kit, sewing kit etc. Not even some 5-star properties have those in Mexico City)
The property itself has a unique style, with plants everywhere and little rustic details that just make it so cozy.
Breakfast was included and it was good, you could have breakfast outside in the little patio in the middle or in a more closed area of the restaurant.
Up on the top floor there's a pool with a little bar, the water is heated. And even higher, there's a very nice detail - a deck with a few sofas and swings, where one could just go to see the views of Cuernavaca, read a book or spend some quality time with loved ones.
Overall, wonderful experience, very helpful staff, cute design.
Only one thing to note - at night it might be a bit loud and the doors are not very soundproof.
- 922cynthiar (6/5): Loud music....A hotel for the younger set? - The staff were wonderful... other things not so great...first room, the a/c didn't work on a very hot day, staff quickly moved me to another room where the room key NEVER worked.. I had to call for someone to bring a master key each time I entered my room over the course of a 3-night stay...the hotel plays loud music all evening... the room itself was very comfortable, with fridge with beer, snacks, etc. I had a massage that was excellent...
- SOAP (8/5): Wonderful service/tasty eatery/excellent location - Loved this quaint little hotel located close to the heart of Cuernavaca about a 10 min walk from the area’s downtown and the famous must see museum Palacio de Cortez. From checking in to checking out, the hotel staff are the warmest and most accommodating staff Ive had the pleasure of dealing with. Anxious to help, they certainly go the extra mile. The restaurant has the tastiest omelette and green juice, I've had in a long time.
It's safe, secure which is a huge plus. There's a full length mirror behind the bathroom door and amenities that include a toothbrush, a small tube of toothpaste, shoe polish and a sewing kit. I didn't see a hairdryer, but then I didn't search for one.
It does have a pool and a SPA service but I didn't utilize either. The interesting thing is that you have to insert your card key once you enter to turn on lights/AC in the room which means you always walk into a humid room after your day's activities.
I would stay here again in the heartbeat. My only minor gripe is the AC only seemed to work 1 of the 3 days I stayed there and the drainage by the shower wasn't so great but these are minor things that can easily being rectified.
- gabrielle705 (10/5): Lovely hotel - This is a lovely hotel with a courtyard in its centre which is gorgeous. It is pricey however you will enjoy your stay and the personalised breakfasts and lovely staff. English isn't of a
high standard however I found this normal in Mexico. Enjoy your stay here.
- flying_texter (8/5): Very nice place and excellent value! - I stayed at this very nice hotel during a business trip and unfortunately only for one night. This place offers very nice design and spacious rooms in modern design with a local touch.
Staff was very friendly and helpful throughout the whole stay.
The room was clean, tidy, no damages on furniture I'd have seen, very nice bathroom as well. WiFi connection worked fine.
Worth mentioning is the good à la carte breakfast!
Thank you, I'd definitely come again!
- L0veMySuitcase (10/5): A lovely Boutique experience - I was in town for business and couldn't have picked a better unique hotel. The decor is lovely, modern but rooted in nature, particularly the bell shaped flower design seen throughout the hotel including the floors and the unique iPhone speaker in each room (I had to buy one for myself at their attached gift shop). It's also quite cozy with retractable roof over the courtyard in the evening.
- JuanitoIndy (10/5): Very nice, convenient and in the center of the city - Very nice hotel. Service is very attentive.
I recommend you to have your breakfast at the top of the building. The view is awesome. The waiters bring you fresh coffee and fresh bread.
Breakfast is served with different types of juices or coffee, and they prepare eggs in different stiles.
The pool area is i think in the 3th floor and is great enjoy it.
The only problem is the towels are limited and the ones are in the hotel need be replace, beside that everything is awesome.
- JohnMaserati (2/5): Obnoxious service - After travelling through Mexico for two weeks, I purchased the Luxury Suite mainly because it had a bathtub. Even though I paid an extra $1000 pesos a night, they would not give me the room I had purchased. They originally gave me a normal room, and only after complaining did they put me in one that was slightly larger. Still no bathtub and still not the room I had paid for.
The staff doesn’t quite get the idea of good service, but not from the lack of trying. The waiters will stand right by your table watching you eat and are ready to take your plate the second your fork stops moving, but you still have to wait 45 minutes for them to bring your food.
I was also turned off because the front desk required a print out of my confirmation before they would let me check into my room. It was really a hassle to do. One would think they would know who and when people are checking in.
- xavierfSF (10/5): Loved the Flor de Mayo - Stayed for a weekend at the beginning of November and everything was great. We arrived early and were happily surprised that our room was ready. After taking the red eye from SFO-MEX, it was such a treat to be able to check in early. Jose (I am sorry if I got the name wrong!), the Front Desk Manager was excellent. He was so helpful and answered all of our questions and gave us great tips for exploring Cuernavaca and the surrounding area. The room was spacious and spotless. Our rate included breakfast which was cooked to order and delicious. The common areas were so beautiful, with an open courtyard, pool and deck. Jose and all the staff were always smiling and so friendly.
- draghignazzo (8/5): Beautiful place - My high rating was because I looooove what they did with the building. Really it's a masterpiece how they recover an old place and made a beautiful and welcoming hotel.
The decor of the rooms made them cozy and different. Please pay attention to the iPhone "speaker", it's amazing to say the least.
Nevertheless there are few things that I didn't enjoy:
- if you want to sleep, it's not quite easy, at night and day the sound of the lobby, roof and almost every hall can be heard at your bed.
- staff tries but doesn't seem to have enough experience on hotel industry.
- restaurant is slow slow slow.
- there is some comfort lacking at the rooms. If you remove the nice decoration, all the details are from a very average hotel (including the bed).
I'm not sure if I'll stay here again, I enjoyed the place, but not as a guest. Maybe I'll return just for a drink.
- rafa_nomad (10/5): Excellent Hotel Boutique in Cuernavaca Centro - The Flor de Mayo is a small hotel boutique with around 25 rooms, very comfortable and clean. It has an outdoor swimming pool and a terrace, as well as a restaurant and a spa at the ground floor. Service was very good and I loved the details all around the place. Highly recommended.
- 725gabyg (10/5): Amazing hotel - It is a small hotel, all the staff were very nice and ready to help. When I went it was almost empty, so it was perfect to relax. I think is a perfect place to have a romantic weekend or to chill with friends
- Igor (8/5): No Gym On Premises - As Advertised - The hotel advertised having a gym. They do not have it. I do not understand how this is a personal insult or profanity. This is false advertising.
- Alexander (10/5): Very Nice Hotel, Clean Great Rooftop Pool - Very nice hotel, amenities and service.
Only complaint is that room maybe felt a bit small and the cunstruction of the shower was a bit vulnerable to flooding out.
Everything else all good
- Igor (10/5): YOU LIED ABOUT HAVING A GYM - THEY LIED ABOUT HAVING A GYM. IT'S NOT IN YOUR QUESTION. OTHERWISE STELLAR, HAVE THEM PUT CORRECT INFORMATION ON THE SITE. Sorry don't typically blast feedback in capital letters, but come-on, look at your own add they have, and there is a yoga mattress and two dumbles under the staircase. Good people, might go back, but big no-no on lying.
