Guest Reviews
- Jim (4/5): - Uncomfortable beds. No heat. No glasses in the room. TV streaming only. Couldn’t get local stations. Couldn’t get Major League Baseball games. Had to ask for blankets.
- William (2/5): - Clean room
- William (2/5): - Staff should clean rooms
- Mary (2/5): - Had to leave, fighting outside
It was terribly and scary
- JASON (4/5): - The lady at the desk was nice.
- Cortney (2/5): - Showed up to check in and properly looked run down. Lobby was cluttered. Went to check in and no room available even though we had booked weeks in advance.
- Lisa (2/5): - Horrible conditions. Beds were lumpy and difficult to sleep on. Overall disgusting condition.
- Thomas (6/5): - Staff was nice no breakfast like it said its not $125 night motel more like 50 to 60
- Fred (4/5): - There was no remote for TV nice tv but no remote to run tv. No phone in room. The shade in window was up 1 foot from bottom of window and blinds where open. The rod that open close the blinds laying on the floor and broke. There was dirt on the floor and the metal strip going in to the bathroom had fasteners sticking up and cut bottom of my foot from it.
- Deborah (10/5): - The room was comfortable/tastefully decorated. Their website stated that breakfast was provided. In checking in, I was told that they are no longer providing breakfast. The ice machine is not working but if you ask, a bag of ice will be provided.
The cleanliness could be improved. I wiped a spill off from the bathroom floor and the tissue was black. There were also black areas on the edges of the shower curtain as if a mechanic with greasy hands had handled it. I wiped off a spot of dried blood from the wall where the toilet paper was hanging. The property could certainly use some TLC. I'm thankful to have been able to stay there seeing that everything in Ladysmith was booked up.
- Anita (2/5): - This motel was the worst place I have ever stayed. Very dirty and the bedding was a joke!!! Never stay here again.
- Jennifer (6/5): - Blinds didn't close, chairs were stained and sticky along with a wierd smell.
- Brian (6/5): - Website offered free breakfast. They don't have free breakfast anymore
- Roger (4/5): - Replace and repair all the broken things in the motel is a lot no ice machine and all the machines in the breakfast area so maybe things are not working the shower head in the bathroom is leaking water all over and needs repair or replacement the room looked clean but needs a good cleaning if you look at it in detail the toilet seat is ready to fall off moving all around no cold water with the ice machine broke down over all things look old and in need of replacement Thanks
- Jade (6/5): - It is what you expect it to be, but relatively more clean than most places like this that I have been to
- Steven (2/5): - Gross
- Joleen (6/5): - The floir was dirty and the bedspread should have been replaced.
- scott (2/5): - Wow. Where do i start. Upon arrival walking outside two little kids open the door to the motel room they are staying in and their
Dad "i think" comes out screaming. Get the F in here now. Im going to punch you in the Fing face. He was saying to these little kids. It appears like they live here. Anyway. We find out we have to walk through room 15 from out side to get to the inside halway to get to our room #18. So we finally get into our room to find it absolutely gross and dirty. Floor was discusting. The walls were full of very visable huge cob webs. Nasty dirty toilet and shower. TV doesnt work. No heat. Blinds are broken so you can see in. The manager brought us a blanket and tacks to hang over the window. Absolutely terrible. The worst motel we have ever stayed at. Go sleep in a Walmart bathroom. It would be an upgrade over this place.
- 88matthewu (2/5): Unless you want your things stolen from transients, stay somewhere else - Had stayed here before with little issues. Just stayed here recently and when I returned from dinner, my backpack was stolen from my room. I suspect it was one of the transients living on site that entered the room from the outside entrance. Avoid this place at all costs.
- Matthew (2/5): - Had stayed here a couple times before and never really had issues besides the key working for the outside entrance. However I recently stayed here and while I was at dinner, a backpack went missing from my room. I notifed the front desk and they did nothing about it. I suspect it was one of the transients living on site. Avoid this place at all costs.
- anne (2/5): - Dog smell thru whole place and barking all night. Dogs and kids running in hallway till 3 am. Floor in room filthy. Had to brush feet off to get in bed, that was low and covered in plastic. Sheet would come off anytime you moved. Pillow were like little barrels( i assume washed and dried and all clumped together in middle only.
- Elizabeth (4/5): - Upon arrival my price was increased and the website says that breakfast is included but they no longer do that. There is no here working at 8 am on a Thursday.
- Michelle (4/5): - Property was very nice for short stay but very dated. Locks on outside were not functional and the coffee pot had not been cleaned upon arrival.
No bed skirts or fancy linens but the bed was comfortable. Not a great value for the amount spent vs.others in the area with more amenities.
- Robert (2/5): - I called at 7pm to say we would be late, no problem motel said. We got there and NO ONE there, no answer to the 2 numbers posted. Smelled awful! Sign said "closed for season. Monthly rentals only" Not sure why Expedia even has this on their site. AWFUL. I believe it had a 4 star rating. If I could give this motel a negative rating I would.
- Martha (8/5): - The property was not what I expected. Nothing really wrong.
- Bonnie (4/5): - The only thing I liked was you could enter your room from outside parking . Place was rundown! Needed new bed, bathroom, coffee maker and there was no ice. Never used the shower because the caulk was molding. Flooring looked newer and it had a nice TV.
- Elizabeth (4/5): - There were no curtains or window drapes so it was too bright to sleep during the day. There was no hand soap or body soap. There was what seemed like a homeless or meth-head outside our room that wouldn’t leave. We didn’t feel safe so we left to sleep elsewhere.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Smells - It smells bad.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't suggest this hotel - Our first night our luggage was taken by a police officer because they double booked our room and somebody else was staying in there by the time that we came back from family outing so then at 12:00 at night we had to go to the police station to recover our property and the food that we left in the fridge was no longer there.
- Edward (2/5): - Liked norhing. No amenities, ice machine broken
Filthy room. Socks got dirty jyst walking around the room.
- Patricia (10/5): - Friendly staff and large rooms
- Joshua (8/5): - Very affordable for traveling workers. Very nice staff. Comfortable rooms.
- Michelle (10/5): - Clean quite and easy check in
- Rick (8/5): - Up graded my room at no additional charge
- DAN (6/5): - Easy access to our room from the outside parking lot. Each room has an exterior access door to the outside.
- timothy (2/5): Poor - The room smelled of vomit, poorly disguised by a rather aged air freshner.
There was no breakfast.
The front desk was always unattended.
The mattress was covered with an industrial-grade plastic cover, perhaps related to the vomit issue.
The computer was down when I tried to check in, necessitating a delay of hours.
And there was no Internet, for the same reason.
- Susan (10/5): - We stayed 4 nights and the gal at the front desk was VERY helpful and knowledgeable. It's an old motel and needs updating but you can tell they are trying to improve. The beds and pillows were great. The towels definitely need an update but did the trick. The only complaint we had was with Expedia. I called in to book the four nights and they only reserved 3 nights.... not that big of a deal. The gal at the front desk quickly help fix that which was nice. However when I talked Expedia when booking it I asked what their breakfast consisted of and he listed a great breakfast...eggs, two kind of meat, biscuits and gravy, cereal, toast and muffins, bagels, juice and milks etc. I said oh wow ok that's great I just wanted to make sure if we needed to plan to go get breakfast. He said oh no no no no definitely not!!!! On the board when we got there it said "grab and go" so I asked and told her what we were told. She said no they do not have a license to be able to have food. She did say she was going to get a hold of Expedia and tell them to stop telling people that. They did have a cooler was ice cold waters for the guests which was nice. Like my husband said that lady deserves a raise cause she did a GREAT job!!! We would stay there again because of the nice front desk gal but if we would have know there was no breakfast at all we would have paid a bit more elsewhere where it included the breakfast. Our visit ended up costing quite a bit more do to going for breakfast every day.
- Laura (6/5): - There were some stains on the carpet and the cleanliness of the bathroom was not the greatest.
- Amanda (6/5): - The rooms were okay and the New staff seemed really nice; maybe just not professional. As of Aug 19th '23 they are under new management so hopefully things will inprove some. Overall a good location not too far out of town; just be aware trains can be heard:)
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Did not stay due to when we got there, we were informed things are closed & the cops have the keys & owner is working on it to open up. Did not feel safe with that situation.
- Aaron (4/5): - The staff person was great! Very friendly. The main room was clean but had an "old smell" to it. Room was neat and the bed was comfortable. Nice big TV. There were only blinds on the main window. I went outside at night and noticed you could see into the room a little bit. It would have been nice to have a large curtain to cover the window. In the morning, when I opened up the shower curtain, the bathtub and walls had not been cleaned. There were three long hairs on the shower wall and a used dried out washcloth hanging on the shower rail. The rest of the bathroom seemed clean. I went to check out at 8:30 AM to let them know but the office door was locked. Overall: It was not terrible. Good price! Owner/Staff just need to pay attention to the details. I hope the best for the owners/staff. I just needed to be honest in my review.
- John (8/5): - It's a basic hotel room. No frills. Management was very friendly. Room could use some updating.
- Rita (4/5): - Because I booked thru Expedia the front desk said they could not reimburse me for Sat nite when I checked out Saturday am and informed them that I would not be staying a second night
- James (4/5): - Hard to get help at front desk. Bathroom fan very noisy.
- Dave A (2/5): - I wouldn't stay there. Room stunk, marks on the wall, bug goop everywhere outside and inside. Owner swearing up a storm when she finally showed up to check in because she was in a fight with another female.. her Kid had to get her an ice pack for her face.. Want my money back.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Liz was very attentive! Thank you!!!
- Lenny (8/5): - Manager was very friendly Toilet seat needed to be replaced
- Christopher (4/5): - The staff are excellent. The rooms are clean. The rooms and property needs a lot of updating. There is a persistent odd smell I attribute to a bad carpet cleaning. I believe a good vinegar based steam cleaning of th a carpets would fix the problem.
- Timothy C (6/5): - Property was old and not kept up very well.
- Gregory (10/5): - Great stay!
- Dennis (8/5): - Thermostat needs to be checked out. Room stayed ungodly hot most all night. Was set on 62 but temperature read 82. Had to open outside door couple times during night to let some cool air in. Otherwise stay was quite pleasant.
- Rodney (6/5): - Check in was very slow. Room wasn’t very clean. We spent 2 nights but our door keys had to be reset on the second day. Breakfast “grab and go” was not well stocked. One good thing is that when we had a problem the staff took action immediately.
- DecentResort (2/5): Horrible experience, new management needed - Horrible. Neither of the rooms entrance keypads worked - when returning to room in early evening, we were locked out of our room and no manager was at building and he would not answer phone. We had to rent a room at another hotel and come back and get our belongings next morning - manager wouldn't even speak to us, cleaning person took care of us. We were refunded us in cash as manager didn't know how to run a refund on card supposedly. Chairs in room were filthy, disgusting and room smelled slightly. Heater wouldn't shut off and we had to open window to cool room to 75 degrees. Honest truth, not exaggerating unfortunately. We've stayed here while visiting area for many years but not any longer. Even contractors no longer stay here which tells you everything. They need new management very badly.
- Gary (2/5): - Unbelievable amount of trains going thru there. Out of control of the facility, but damn! 6-8 trains per night, very loud! Carpet was VERY dirty, water is extremely hard. Overall, not a place I would stay again. Also, staff was unavailable in times of need. Bed was hard and small. Would NOT recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ok Stay - Cleanliness was ok in general. Garbage in the bathroom trash can and one of the chairs had food spills.
- Ann Marie (8/5): - .
- Sharon (8/5): - This motel was convenient for getting to the events we attended. The rug was NOT clean. It was very difficult for me to step up at the outside door, needed husband to help. The air conditioner was quite loud. We had stayed in this motel in the late 90s and remembered a better facility. We will not stay here again. I think this motel is better for hunters and fishermen.
- Alia (2/5): - Awful experience
- Michael (10/5): - Staff is friendly
- Benigne (10/5): - Well maintained property, interior looks brand new and very cared for. Rooms are clean and cozy feeling.
- Ruth (10/5): - Convenient nice
- Lori (10/5): - The BEST coffee I've ever had at a motel! Might seem silly to some but we didn't have to go anywhere right away in the morning because this stuff was amazing! Quiet room, rustic area, very nice. The only complaint I have is the step down on the outside - love the fact you could enter your room from outside but that step up is just too high. Room was clean, very happy with this place, will stay again!!
- Michaela (2/5): Nasty. - Checked in late at night after telling them we were going to be late. The person checking us in didn’t speak English, they tried to charge me more when I got there.
Then on night 2 we found a cockroach.
There were those little black fly looking things in the room as well.
Took the sheet off the bed to have them change the bedding due to me spilling and they just made the bed with no sheet. Manger said she’s going to refund me but didn’t even apologize.
- I6585ZGdalep (6/5): Ok no issues - Was okay. Apparently it was bought and renamed was El Rancho. Clean room needed airing out. They allow pets if that is a problem for you. We have no pets. Short drive to restaurants and gas stations. Hopefully they will be doing some basic updating and repairs. No problems
- Nancy (10/5): - The staff was friendly. The room was clean. Would stay here again.
- Carol (6/5): - Extremely convenient to where we had to be while in Ladysmith. Otherwise, understaffed with manager doing everything by himself. It was minimally acceptable, but after all, is only a motel.
- Karla (6/5): - Room wasnt ready til after 5:00. But that was because there was only one person working in the whole place. Trying to clean rooms man the desk. Poor guy! Outside of motel is dirty. The room needed a good cleaning. More than the one guy could do. Tho the bedding was clean and the bathroom was clean, rest of room left something to be desired. Great location for us.
- Dick (8/5): - The breakfast was very basic and could be made better
- Verified traveler (6/5): Northwoods Motel - Very firm mattress
Short sheeted bed LOL
Linens and towels rough textures
Funny but not really offensive smell in entire motel
No explaination for weird tv remote
Friendly staff
Clean
Quiet night
- John (4/5): not good - the bed was as hard as a rock walls are as thin as paper TV didnot work
- Susan (8/5): - This property has improved since being converted to Northwoods Motel. The rooms (ours) could use some sprucing up with paint. Carpet needed vacuuming. Overall, though, it was fine.
- Ruby Diane (10/5): - We were there for Mardi Gra with our concession trailer. we had long hours this motel was exactly what we needed.
We were able to relax in a suprisingly pleasant . We would recommend this motel to all. I'ts not fancy but everything you need is there.
- Terry (4/5): - The motel was very clean and quiet. Check in after 10 pm was a pain. Funky smell thruout the motel, but wasn't real bad.
- Janet (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable at a good price, highly recommend!
- Loren (10/5): - The beds were hard. Coffee was not available in the morning in the lobby.
- Michael (10/5): One of the best motels in which I have stayed!!! - I stayed here for a business trip. I originally booked 1 night to check it out, even thought I was going to be in the area for 5 nights. I was absolutely impressed with the rooms and gentleman running the place. The rooms were remodeled, extremely clean, and just overall very comfortable. The bed sheets and towels were clean - unlike most motels in which these items are usually stained, worn, and nasty. I ended up extending my stay an additional 4 nights. Overall, very impressed with this motel - without a doubt, one of the nicest in which I have stayed!
- Daniel (10/5): A unique hotel - I thought it was one of the most unique hotels I have ever stayed at. Very old fashioned but had a beautiful charm and will be returning.
- diane m (10/5): - Very comfy
- Tracylyyn (10/5): Quaint. Friendly. - This was a great motel! We were on a Northern WI,MN motorcycle ride and ran into this place. At first the empty building was a little off putting, but that quickly changed once we settled in. We had a small group and set tables out back for food and drinks. Everyone in our group really enjoyed the stay here! It’s definitely a no thrills type of place, but these are the places we support on our rides, we can’t wait to stay here again!
