- Johan (10/5): Great stay - Location
- Steve (9/5): I’d come back. - Quiet. Peaceful Pretty remote
- John (8/5): - The view and the courtyard. The room was outdated. I wish it were updated a little bit. The parking is small and to close together for bigger vehicles.
- David (10/5): - The view and the rooms
- Elizabeth (10/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): We spent our 7 year anniversary here and it was truly amazing! We will definitely be back next year! - I absolutely loved the service and how quiet it was!! The view out back was amazing!

- Heather (10/5): Stay here, you won’t be disappointed. Retro AWESOME! - The Lodge was a spur of the moment stop to break up a long trip. The reviews got me in and they were not wrong. The view is STUNNING, the out of the way feeling right off the interstate is wonderful and it was sparkling clean. Didn’t expect all the extras outside. They had a spa, a fire pit, BBQ, fantastic seating outside and spacious room. We received a code to get in, and it worked perfectly. Parked right in front of the room and the rooms were quiet even though they were fully booked. Absolutely no complaints. Could use a light on the nightstand with some sockets for phone. It’s hard to fault this place because it was wonderful, but that would be nice to have.

- David (10/5): - Awesome view and is our favorite place to get away for the weekend.
- Debbrah (9/5): Beautiful scenery, nice and clean room, and communication from the lodge staff makes for a nice getaway stay. - This wasn’t my first stay at this location. I continue to return because it’s beautiful and well maintained. I noticed a few changes/ improvements that made me confident that the new owners care. Not that I didn’t like, because I understand changes take time. They’re working on the improvements in the shared spaces. The steam room in the yard will be awesome once completed, and the kids now have some activities to do in the yard as well.
The directions for the outdoor fireplace(s) would be nice in each room so they could be easily accessed. I may have missed this.

- Carla (10/5): Green River Lodge is the place to stay if you want comfort, affordability and an awesome view. - I had been going back and forth with where to stay for our trip. I kept going back to this place. The view from the back yard is phenomenal, along with the seating around a fire. My husband and I acted like kids again, playing Connect Four out back.
The room was very clean and comfortable.
The staff were very helpful with even the simplest of questions.
I would definitely stay here again!!
- Karla (6/5): The hotel was conveniently located with spectacular view, but it was dirty and the staff did not back up their word to r - Location was convenient to downtown Saluda and I-26. It was easy to manage parking and traffic. Smoking was allowed on property and staff was available via text and phone. The views were spectacular! There was no hamper for the dirty towels that we had to pile in the floor, and no shower grip for my elderly mother in the shower.
Upon arrival, the toilet was extremely dirty. Hair was all over the rim and back, there was urine splatter on the underside of seat, and in the toilet water. I had to clean it up myself and called the staff on call. She promised to discount our rooms, but didn’t.

- Maghan (10/5): - The room was clean and the views were amazing, the shared courtyard is so beautiful. Staff was super friendly and helpful they responded to us quickly and were very pleasant to deal with.
- Shawn (10/5): I would highly recommend booking here. - The lodge has a courtyard with a spectacular view of the mountains. It was very peaceful and clean.
- Jeannie (10/5): - I never met a staff person, so I can't say anything about that. I DID have direct text communication, however. The entire establishment is adorable and full of character. Those espousing sterile chain places may not like it much, but those - like me - who love reclaimed character will have GREAT appreciation for this beautiful gem. VERY comfortable and squeaky clean. The "backyard" view of the mountains is more than only breathtaking. I'd add a photo if I could, but "something" isn't cooperating and I can't upload one.
- Anderson (10/5): Highly recommend this place if you're in the area. Its perfect - The location and view is absolutely amazing. Upon checking in I spoke with one of the cleaning staff members and she was very polite and helpful.
- Paula (10/5): A perfect getaway. - So peaceful and quaint. The property manager was very helpful and accommodating.
- Amy (10/5): If you want a quiet and peaceful retreat this is a great choice. - Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views. The room we were put in didn’t look like the one in the picture that I booked. However it had the same amenities.
- Judith (10/5): - We really love the view! The sauna is a lovely new addition! It's always very peaceful here! We will be back!
- Amy (2/5): Scary - Too remote , need to provide water and snacks. Very minimal comfort Need snacks and water, need to remove the carpet very make it lighter. Very old motel
- Gaines (5/5): I see potential for this Hotel, but its not there yet. - The view out the back of the building was wonderful and I appreciate the comfortable seating, grill and cool outdoor sauna. The room, #6, had a moisture problem. The rug on the floor felt damp, there was standing water behind the toilet. We stayed two nights and the towels we used on day one were still wet when we needed them on day two. No, we did not get fresh towels in our room and the bed was not made or room refreshed.
- Amanda (10/5): It was a relaxing and comfortable stay. - Simple yet confortable. Beautiful view.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): - The mountain views are awesome. Very friendly staff. Clean and relaxing!
- Judith (7/5): Quiet. Scenery was great. - No Breakfast! Bed was very uncomfortable. Bad mattress. Lumpy with a dip in the middle. Didn’t sleep.
- Sandra (10/5): - Loved thos place
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - Easy access from interstate, views Room not updated..needed better lighting during process.
- Jones (8/5): Very good - View was awesome awesome awesome.. Little over priced for the quality of the room ECT. But the view makes up for it.. it's a really nice place
- Traci (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful views, clean rooms, easy check in. Communication was easy.
- William (10/5): Enjoyed it. - This place reminded me of a cabin in the mountains. It was cozy, clean and peaceful. I would definitely go out of my way to stay there again. Nothing comes to mind.
- Caroline (10/5): Loved this place - Beautiful location, basic but nice and clean. Very quiet and restful. Nice bed linens.
- Preston (10/5): Exceptional - I liked just about everything from the location to the room amenities. It's located in a perfect area for traveling to different tour spots. Don't let the outside fool you the rooms are really nice and comfortable beds too. The views from here are beautiful. There's no breakfast but plenty of coffee that's about the only thing I didn't like but you can have food delivered. If not there's plenty of places nearby within 10 minutes.
- Preston (10/5): Exceptional - I liked everything here it's a true find, starting with easy check in. They just send you a code to your door. Before I got here a stayed at a condo I wish there were more of these motels the condo was a 1 in ratings compared to a 10 here. If your around Saluda or even Ashville this is the place to stay. It's a well stocked room and very comfortable. From the coffee to even makeup remover it's great. I found gold in the smoky mountains lol. Anyway I loved this place. It also has a sauna you can use I put a picture of it here. There wasn't anything to not like great communication with the owner. There's no breakfast here but plenty of places nearby. Very good coffee though.
- Adrian (6/5): - Relaxing
- Katharine (10/5): - Although right off Route 26 in Saluda, NC this property is quiet and has an amazing view of the mountains. There is a communal courtyard overlooking the valley and mountains and a small bar area for gathering. My room was perfect with all the amenities you would expect.
- Jack (10/5): - Received codes for room and overlook area prior to arrival, worked perfectly upon arrival. Room very clean, outdoor area has one of the best view’s we’ve seen at any property.
- Jody (8/5): - Came down from OHIO and this was a nice small, quite place. Totally recommend.
Only thing i didnt like was when you first walk into the room its a little musty. But overall view in the back was beautiful!!
- Charles (8/5): New owner, new name: Green River Lodge - The room looked like the photo. This is an old style motel with a wonderful view. Not all rooms get the view but all rooms get access to the view. Our room had a back door that led to the common back yard with the view, a fire pit, and a sauna. If we stayed a second night we would have tried both but tonight it was storming. There were some problems with the room but in the morning we spoke with the new owner, a local. She is getting repairs done and has plans to restore Appalachian character. It is close enough to the highway that you can hear some trucks. The driveway is a one way loop and the GPS tried to take us past the entrance. Look for the sign with the new name.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent communication, easy self check-in, large space, comfortable bed and linens. Refrigerator provided, table and chairs. Great location, easy to find. Nada
- Russell (8/5): - Nice cozy place
With beautiful views of the mountains
- Atkins (8/5): Would stay here again without hesitation. - Location was perfect. Very clean. Our room looked like it was still in the reno process a bit. Shower was slick as glass.
- Katie (5/5): Unsafe. - The view was pretty. They give you a code to get into your room, you don’t check in with anyone so anyone can get a room here. Not very safe. The TV was small the. The AC filter hasn’t been cleaned so dust went everywhere. There was a cop there in the morning have the maid clean his car windows which was weird. Anything can happen there.
- Leslie (10/5): - Property is modest but the view is great.
- Christopher (10/5): - The view is AMAZING!
- Michelle (10/5): Perfect spot - Great location, quiet, beautiful view.
- Jim (10/5): - Loved this place. Had the best views. Make sure you get the room with a view. I can not wait to go back. Best stay ever.
- Rhonda (10/5): - I spent a week at the property as I had business in Tryon NC, and this motel was 15 minutes to the event. It was quiet at night for the season I was there which was in March but still steady people staying. There was unfortunately a wild fire at the time but the staff kept us updated in the event of evacuation. The rooms are clean and are being updated as under new management. The views are stellar behind the motel. A work in progress but I think the new owners have a good plan for the motel and are working toward the progress daily. I spoke directly to them and they were friendly and very southern hospitality.
The little town of Saluda is a sweet spot in those mountains. The Wildflour bakery I’m told is the best all around but get there early in the mornings for their sticky buns, they don’t last long. I had pizza there on Friday night and it’s the best I ever tasted. Wakey Monkey coffee shop is a must stop also. Fresh home baked pastry’s and breakfasts and lunch served daily till 2. Coffee was fresh and delicious, owners were sweet southern kindness. The whole town has great history and everyone who lived there are more than happy to share stories. Trangie, the Mayor of Saluda told me much of the history along with VIVi in the visitors center. I highly recommend this motel for a great get away stay tucked in the beautiful mountains in NC. Lots to see all around the area and short distances to each place from Early Blue. Come back for a relaxing fire and quiet.
- Julianna (3/5): Met bare minimum of a bed. Needs renovation - Location Room was run down , tv didn’t work, coffee was stale and walls didn’t buffer sound. Couldn’t wait to leave.
- Kristy (5/5): HORRIBLE BED - Small Mom & Pop Place hidden off the highway Beds are HORRIBLE! There was no dog yard as stated in other reviews. If your dog is Trained off leash there is a big unfenced field to run in.
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Fresh rooms remodeled - was upgraded to two queens
Location
Town of Saluda is great with people and places to eat. Would be great to have laundromat A small closet- coat rack somewhere to put suitcase.
Snack or soda machine
- lisa (10/5): - Hidden Mountain treasure, staff super kind and accommodating ( even surprised us with bottles of bubbly), room and lodge very clean, soft towels, comfy bed and pillows, amazing views, peaceful outdoorsy vibes…
- Amanda (10/5): - Cute motel
- Caleb (9/5): Quiet, clean, comfortable stay in a one-of-a-kind motel with a mountain view. - Kind and courteous front-desk staff. Quiet location. Superb view from the rear, including a comfortable viewing yard area that includes seating, a gas firepit, and a sauna with a view. Check-in process was not seamless (a text message with room code was not successfully texted to my phone), however on-site staff happened to be available upon arrival and handled check-in professionally and courteously.
- Sherri (10/5): Loved our stay! - Very nice. Breathtaking views.
- Robin (9/5): Cute little motel with great views - Great location with very nice views. We really love cute older motels. The sitting areas around the property are great. The rooms and grounds are very clean and kept well. The bath room is very small. Also would love a table in the room
- Bentura (9/5): Superb -
- Cheryl (10/5): - Quaint motel that was very comfortable and what a breathtaking view!
- Chris (10/5): -
My wife and I stayed at the Early Blue Motel this past weekend, and we had a great experience. The check-in process was simple and straightforward, which got our stay off to a smooth start. The motel’s location is very convenient, being close to the town of Saluda, NC, and easy access to Interstate 26 made traveling easy.
The room was spotless, which we appreciated, but the highlight of our stay was the breathtaking view. It's absolutely stunning and undoubtedly the best reason to stay here. We’re already planning to return so we can enjoy the scenery in different seasons.
Check-out was just as smooth as check-in, making the entire process hassle-free. We highly recommend Early Blue Motel for anyone looking for a clean, convenient, and scenic getaway!
- Daron (10/5): Home away from home - Quiet little place that is safe and secure

- Sophia (10/5): - I absolutely loved this place. It was quiet, comfortable, beautiful, and just what I needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

- Francine (8/5): Lovely!! - Calm and beautiful Just more towels.
- Miranda (10/5): - Stayed here the night before dropping our kids at a nearby sleepaway camp and it was great! We were in one of the original rooms - no frills, but was clean, fresh and had comfortable beds.
The backyard overlook area has breathtaking views and lots of great outdoor furniture and games to enjoy.
Loved the little town of Saluda just down the road for dinner and shopping!
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (8/5): Very good -
- Erin (7/5): Quiet peaceful little getaway. - Location and views were good, they had upgrades posted but not finished It was a little on the smaller side
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Early Blue is a gem!!! Stunning views of the mountains. Crazy convenient to Saluda, Tryon and Hendersonville. Staff are friendly, and helpful answering any questions we had. We will definitely be going back soon! Can't wait to see the leaves change in the fall. Make sure to get a view of the mountains with access to the courtyard. You'll love it!
