Guest Reviews
- Mosses (10/5): - The staff was very helpful thank you All
- dan (10/5): - Ok
- Nathan (8/5): - The property is small but nicely appointed rooms. My only complaint was in not having stable strong internet connection.
- Fadhil (10/5): - I liked the hospitality
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Place - Nice hotel, room was nice. Maintenance issues didn't get fixed - even after 5 days. Toilet leaked. What I'd expect for a hotel here, though. A little surprised by lack of availability, repeatedly, of choices on the restaurant menu. Food was mediocre except for the steak - that was good! Good place, not exquisite, but fine.
- John (10/5): - Single traveler passing through for medical treatment. Place was nice and quiet and the staff were friendly.
- donaldf673 (6/5): Very average business hotel in CBD - I stayed here 3 nights. Rooms are clean and fairly basic. Good shower. Few staff but efficient. Breakfast is fairly standard - cooked eggs offered. No bar or swimming pool but does have gym
Good bar round the corner.
Situated on quiet road with good access to main roads
- Paul (10/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful to meet any of my needs.
The buffet breakfast was average but all I needed. The room was comfortable and the Hotel was in a good location for where I needed to go.
- Donald (10/5): - Everything was good
- Desiree (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay. 💜
- Chris (2/5): - Expedia is awful
- lediretse (10/5): beautiful people - The place was clean with friendly staff ( they made me feel at home) and near restaurants and grocery shop. spacious bedrooms and showers. but the water in the shower took long to warm up and breakfast could be improved to include more continental items
- N5040GOdennisn (10/5): Happy experience. - Visited the hotel on valentine, and the whole experience was awesome, the dinner was so yummy especially the lamb chops and the prawn soup . very professional staff, Nicholas and Cornelius made our stay comfortable. will return. swift check in and check out, thank you for accommodating our request.
- Rishona Melanie (8/5): - I really liked this hotel! I only stayed for 1 night but would like to stay again if I'm in the area. As a lone female traveller I am always conscious of safety.
There is a plaza less then 1 minute where there are many food and eating options and there were also a few lively bars within a short walking distance also
There were not many street lights at night but the area was busy enough on a Friday night
There is no hotel airport free shuttle, you have to pay for it and mine never showed up! I therefore ordered an Uber and it was only about £5 to airport
Really nice decor and helpful staff
- Mobile20717704562 (10/5): No complain - Pros
* Wide, clean room
* Moderate price
* Stress-free
* Quiet
Cons
* None.
Room, hot water, restaurant, laundry, staff, all service was good. I had no complaints about their service.
This hotel is recommended for people looking for suitable accommodation around 100 dollars.
- Enoch (4/5): - Nothing unique. If there's such a thing as false advertising, this booking was it. The rooms could really use a spruce up. The linen is overdue for replacement, not sure why you call it premium? My bad, I should have paid attention to the other reviews before confirmation of booking. Plus the VIP perk (round-trip airport pick and drop) -- why offer something you intend to charge me for? I'd still have booked with or without the perk. The ping-pong between Expedia and the Monarch staff just left me feeling frustrated and used... The fact though that no one at the hotel acknowledged my booking or email inquiries until check-in/out is the reason I'm giving you a low rating. Do better, The Monarch/Expedia.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall, it was an okay stay. Although you're able to hear noises from the floor above - where conferences are held and noises from the corridor as well. The breakfast is pricey compared to what is served - you only have the option to get their buffet and menu/ala carte is not available for breakfast. I have to say their restaurant menu is good though and reasonably priced as well. I feel very safe as well. The reception turned off the wifi when I wanted to book an Uber rather than using their service - not great!
- Richard (2/5): - The bedroom was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well.
The food was terrible.
The staff were very chatty but I did not like the fact that many were trying to see what they could get from me. In particular several wanted me to sponsor their move to Ireland where I would organise work for them.
I have been to Kenya 24 times and stayed in hotels of all standards but this stands out for the reasons already mentioned. I would not recommend this hotel at all.
- PhilIp (10/5): Excellent Hotel - The monarch hotel is great. Hotels. Com jas some incorrect information. The Hotel does NOT have free airport transfers.
- Nomad37512621094 (10/5): Hospitable & Kind - The Legal Resources Foundation had a training of Human Rights Defenders and the staff were very hospitable and kind. Mr. Cornel professionalism is top notch, we highly recommend Mornach Hotel for Business functions.
- fairtravell (8/5): I will be back - Worth to stay. Breakfast was prompt and made fresh .The multitude fruit juices as well as spiced tea was to die for literally. Nice place. I'm definitely coming back. I enjoyed my stay. Very central location and around many hotels, coffee shop, Nightlife etc.
- Biva45 (8/5): Good Hotel - The breakfast is good, with a number of varieties served on a buffet. - joanjI9399WV (10/5): Excellent - Our conference was good and I loved the snacks and the food especially the chicken.breakfaat to was good but there no various in breakfast also mushrooms were salty.room were well cleaned and we will be back soon.
- 508hillaryk (10/5): Good - The food is sweet but vegetarians were not gathered for. You had variety of food but I need another type of stew but I did not get since you had mutton stew only. Your service was excellent as well as the drinks and fruits.
- Evansie (10/5): - Customer care is good
- Shawn (10/5): - The property was really nice. The only issue I had was with the restaurant “Empire” that is across the street that plays loud music until 5am nightly.
- James (10/5): - Nice place. I'm definitely coming back. I enjoyed my stay!
- Lauren (10/5): - We were very impressed with the friendly & helpful nature of the staff, they always remembered us & went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The facility is very nice, our room was quiet & clean. The bed was comfortable and the decorations were pretty. The bathroom was spacious. The restaurant was always delicious & accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and very hospitable personnel. The breakfast was also Great!
- PhilIp (10/5): ’ll be back! - Spacious, clean Nd quiet. Good blackout windows. The Two grapes tapas and wine bar right around the corner plus the restaurants in the hotel make dining a pleasure. Convenient.
- Evans (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay, Monarch is one of the best accommodation places in Nairobi. I recommend the hotel to any one travelling to Nairobi
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely and clean place ........why should i put 50 noness .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location! Excellent price! Wonderful service and staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is pretty good. They provide good services and all of them are helpful. We request for a extra bed, all of the staff are polite and help us to add one more bed with a reasonable price. The staff even help us with the delivery order, luggage storage for two days and taxi order. I am here to highly appreciate everyone’s kindness which leads us a good stay here.
- Daniel (10/5): Perfect place - The place is close to shopping mall and very nice area.Service was excellent ! Breakfast excellent !
- James (10/5): Good place, good price point - Good location, easy and fast check-in, clean room, good and functional wi-fi, nice bathroom amenities.
- Eric (6/5): Personal Experience - It was okay
- Ezra Ogwell (8/5): Calm environment - The hotel is in a very accessible area. It’s clean and service quite good. Ask for a room facing away from the road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff and the rooms are clean. The check in was easy too. will stay there next time in Nairobi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and nice. Very good value for price. Lookimg forward to my next trip.
- Phillip (8/5): Monarch Tip - Comfortable at a reasonable price
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good overall but can be better - Good overall but can be better with attention to smaller details. Safe location, good facilities and friendly staff. Limited vegetarian options for breakfast but adequate enough. Room was of good size but air conditioning needs servicing with a filter replacement as air quality turned poor everytime it was switched on and got better everytime it was switched off.
- Snezhana (10/5): Great hotel - The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. Stuff were amazing.
Definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent value for Money. Great location. Rooms are well maintained and a very good size.
- CN (8/5): - It’s value for the money. A great place. I would highly recommend it. Need to improve internet though. Overall, it’s an excellent!
- Charles (6/5): - I enjoyed my stay. House keeping could be more responsive on areas that need cleanness. The restaurant and reception staff we wonderful.
- Danial (8/5): Nice place overall - Nothing bad to say about hotel in general. I would not however suggest you eat there...foods not do great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In a quiet, safe neighborhood, this hotel suited our needs well.
- isabella (10/5): - Excellent
- Verified traveler (6/5): Looks great, some infrastructure issues - The biggest problem was hot water. None in the first room, slightly warm in the second.
No alcohol in the restaurant.
- Abdirashid (2/5): - My stay at the Monarch Hotel was horrible. The hotel is expensive than its value. Very bad location. I’m so surprised that I have to pay $50 whenever I receive a guest anywhere within the hotel premises. Due to many disappointment, I was forced to leave the hotel and go to another one which was cheaper, cleaner, convenient and customer friendly in Westland. I don’t know whether the Hotel is new or not but, both the staff and the management seemed confused, and un-trained for the job. The only good experience was that it has a good breakfast. This hotel does not whatsoever meet any criteria for a hotel. I wouldn’t recommend anyone for this. I have already recommended five friends from the states to the other Westland hotel.
- stephane (6/5): decent option in the hills - While it can take you 30 minutes to go to the airport from there during off peak traffic, it can also take you 2 hours in peak hour traffic.
The hotel is fine - room are of decent size - the mattress was way too hard for me and after a first difficult night, I asked for a mattress topper which improved the comfort dramatically.
Worst point: The breakfast options are very poor and not appetising at all - never had such limited choice - the croissants only have the shape of croissants but not even close to what a croissant really is. the hot options are not catered for european tastes.
The gym exists but is also quite limited at the moment as they relocated to the building next door during renovation.
Sleepwise: the dogs of the neighbors can be heard through the night sometimes so if you are a light sleeper, try to be on the other side of the building (same side as the elevator).

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was great value for money and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only negative is that there were no hairdryers.
- Hossam (8/5): Very nice hotel - Nice quite small hotel with large rooms friendly hospitality
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very pleasant stay - I stayed at the Monarch for just one night while in transit from rural Kenya to Europe. I wish I had stayed longer. The accommodation was well appointed and very clean; the food (dinner and breakfast buffet) was delicious, and the staff were warm and very helpful. I've stayed in several Nairobi hotels, costing up to twice as much as the Monarch, but it is by far my favourite.
- Michelle (8/5): Check out at 10h00 is respected to the minute. - Arrived after 23h00 because of long lines in immigration / VISA area at airport. It took over 2 hours to complete formalities at airport. No room service or restaurants available.
- augustin (10/5): I enjoyed my stay - Very friendly staff, very comfortable and clean. Great breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonable hotel close to Wilson Airport Nairobi - Only stayed one night, arrived late and left early so can only say that the rooms were good
- Verified traveler (8/5): I will go back again. Very good hotel. - Excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Not fun when the fire alarm went off by mistake and it took them a while to turn it off but aside that, its great. No alcohol served but I did not mind at all. Food good and generally great neighborhood too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value in in a great location - This place is an excellent value-for-money. The hotel staff are extremely friendly, the room is good, and the location is very convenient to Kilimani neighborhood which has a lot of great restaurants and coffee shops. The included breakfast is also very good. I had a very pleasant stay!
- Miguel (8/5): Mid-range in Kilimani - First room I was in was a bit close to the generators and the noise/smell was a little annoying but they happily moved me. The rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. Everything is new and works well. The staff was very professional, kind and efficient. Restaurant was worth staying in for.
- Raul (6/5): Solo traveller - good for 1 night stay only - The Hotel is not on the best location. But more than enough to spend a night while waiting for your Safari link.
- Jemima (10/5): Hidden treasure - This was a surprising find amidst the lack of decent mid-range hotels in Kenya. The staff were friendly and the room was positively luxurious. The location is in a safe neighbourhood too..
- Andreas (6/5): Good hotel for business trips but - The breakfast that was included can't compete with other hotels in that category. Also there is no bar and no alcohol sold which would have been good to know in advance. Rooms are very clean, spacious and modern.
- Art (10/5): Price Reflects Out of the Way Hotel - When we first booked this hotel we were a little worried about what condition it would be given the great price. Upon arrival we found a very modern hotel, with great staff and service. Although not in the heart of Nairobi, it was our preference to be a little out of the way where it is a little quieter. Despite being some distance from downtown it seemed to be a short ride to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Kizumi Bead Factory that we visited.
