Linda (10/5): - This is the perfect place to stay in Bacalar. Each unit has an equipped kitchen so meals can be prepared in room or it is walkable distance to many choices of restaurants. Parking is safe and secure. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast under the palapa is a great start to your day.

Ric (6/5): - We had a really nice view of the lake. Staff was attentive and site security was good. Rooms look nice but need updates. We lacked hot water and the internet service wi-fi was nonexistent (even after requesting a fix). The hotel was not quiet for a number of reasons, often waking us at night.

LisaMarie (10/5): Comfortable stay w/ full kitchen and living space - I've stayed here twice now and love it. While they have to manually open the entrance door and car gate there is hardly a delay. It is safe and secure. Will be returning. I just hope they don't replace any more refrigerators with the smaller ones. I prefer the large ones to make ice for my water containers.

Anne (10/5): Appartement tres spacieux avec vue sur la lagune - Appart hotel avec vu sur la lagune mais sans accès. Les appartements sont très très spacieux. 2 chambres et 2 salles de bain. Une cuisine ouverte sur le salon. Un deuxième salon. Une grande terrasse. Cuisine tres peu équipée avec seulement 4 assiettes 4 couteaux 4 fourchettes etc. Une plaque de cuisson, un four micro.onde et un frigo.. Une piscine (non testée). Pas de menage. Lhotel est situé à une dizaine de minutes a pied du centre ville. Resto pas tres loins
Elizabeth Zadell (10/5): - Perfect location. We could easily walk to the gorgeous lake with waterfront restaurants or the center of town with all the restaurants and shops. Plus we had a little view of the lake. Staff was very nice. Rooms were spacious. Faded beauty but good price. Restaurant is only open for breakfast sometimes but there’s a good breakfast cafe a block away. They keep the front gate locked and we felt perfectly safe.
Kathryn (8/5): Nice hotel and outlook - We enjoyed our stay at Villas Bakalar. The location is good and an easy walk to restaurants and the lagoon. The rooms could use a little bit of a refurb. Although there is a small kitchen don't plan on cooking much. There is very little in the way of pots/pans/utensils. Both the electricity and water went out for a whole day and didn't come back on until 8pm, which was a bit of a nuisance, but the hotel did offer us breakfast as a recompense which was nice. This is listed as a 5 star hotel, but it's definitely not, so don't get your hopes up.

Frances (10/5): A Great Stay - It's a beautiful spot close to the centre of everything with a great view of the lake. The wifi had me freezing on Zoom calls, but was pretty good for everything else. The breakfast is made for you beside the pool up until 10am and is very reasonably priced.

Breakfast was good (not included) and the appartment big and nice, somewhat old (80s?). The TV wasn't flat (didn't see one for a decade). It's a gated hotel so someone has to open you to park the car or to access the property, a little bit annoying if you go out late
Jeffrey (6/5): Not Really for Anglo Tourists - This might be a suitable place for Mexican families because the rooms are actually suites with kitchens. However , the staff speak no English at all and that could be a problem for travelers who do not speak Spanish.

The staff were extremely helpful to us in getting a taxi to our next destination. Would definitely recommend staying here and I would stay here again.
Adi (4/5): big rooms. smells like urine and disgusting! - Dirty and smelly hotel!! They have great potential! Huge rooms with a kitchen with blender and great view, but come on!!!! Clean it! The smell was so strong (smell like urine ) that we literally woke up with a hard headache! We didn't touch the dishes and showered with shoes..... we left after that night to another town (they ruin Bacalar lagun experience). It's a shame for them....

Josh (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE! - This hotel is the worst ever. At one time it may have been nice, but there has been no upkeep. I honestly saw a the biggest spider I have ever seen outside of a cage, it had FUR! The hotel is also in outside of the pueblo and right next door to the towns loudest night club. Imagine the bass of a rave party until 4am.
