Guest Reviews
- Andrea (10/5): - Very charming, extraordinary concerning hospitality athmosphere quality and tremendous view
- Mark (10/5): - Emaculately decorated and the grounds surrounding the Inn are beautiful. The Church bells tolling add to thebgraceful and peaceful stay.
- Ahmad (10/5): - Wonderful stay, wonderful staff, Virginia and Roberto are both amazing and they make our stay Cozy and enjoyable.
Definitely will come back
- Mark (10/5): WOW! - You never really know until you show up and holy moly, we hit the jackpot! Palazzo Suriano is one of the most magical spaces I have ever had the pleasure of spending time in my life.
The town of Vietri sul Mare to start is awesome, less tourists than the rest of the coast and lot's of fun places to visit to keep you occupied.
The Palazzo is unreal! Our room (Tritone) was amazing! It was spacious and the bathroom was so nice!
Breakfast every morning was something to look forward to with the beautiful Virginia offering up fresh baked goodies, juice, and a cappuccino rivaling the best! Local olives and meats were great but the baked goods and jams we're made from fruit grown on the property. It might sound like I'm making this up but it's for real...
The Palazzo is on a steep road so you will have to walk a bunch to get around but it will help you keep the pounds off from vacation eating. Robert picked us up with the cool little Suzuki van and dropped us off to Solerno at the bus station.
Pro tip: don't bother trying to take the bus to neighboring towns, it's a disaster. Rent scooters! The roads are steep and winding but the pace is slow and it's the best way to get around.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Of all the properties I stayed at in Italy, this one was the greatest, due to its uniquely beautiful setting, inside and out, phenomenal service from beginning to end and a staff that makes you feel like a family member so effortlessly. If you travel to Vietri Sul Mare look no further than this property. Breathtaking views, tremendous dining reservations and only 6 rooms makes this a relaxing, quaint and enjoyable experience as one gets while vacationing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exquisitely beautiful. The room is amazing, the grounds spectacular. There is a short steep walk to the beach /restaurant area and a longer hike uphill to the prime ceramics shopping area, but it’s all so worthwhile. Thank you Paolo. Donna and Danny
- Shayke (10/5): Outstanding!!! - The beauty of this hotel and garden is breathtaking, the location is excellent, you are 18 min drive from the port in Salerno where you can jump on a boat and get to all the famous location of the Amalfico, the hotel is just in the beginning of the Amalfico road if you choose to drive (you need a strong heart to drive this road).
The breakfast is outstanding, salute to the chef!
All the restaurant in the town are excellent.
We give this location 10 out of 10!!!!!
- Robert (10/5): Beautiful small inn with great character - Palazzo Suriano is a beautifully decorated and maintained small inn with spacious rooms, beautiful balconies and views. It's perched about 100 feet above the beach level with a five minute walk down to that level for restaurants and about an 8 minute, fairly steep walk back up, but not difficult. Ristorante dal Pescatore by the beach was excellent. On arrival you park in their small private lot on the main road about 60 feet directly above the property and Roberto will meet you in a small van to bring you and your bags down to the hotel, since the small road in is very narrow. Walk back up to your car (if needed) through their beautiful tiered gardens in 3-4 minutes.
This was a truly delightful and nearly perfect stopover on our trip through the Amalphi Coast area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property and views were outstanding the clumb uo from town was a little tough on my legs and lungs.
- Christian (10/5): - Palazzo Suriano has been one of the most amazing places we've stayed in.
Getting here: I strongly recommend asking the hotel to schedule a driver for you. It is a little costly, but you'll want a driver who is familiar with getting to the entrance to avoid a steep cobblestone walk from the road.
Please be warned that this place isn't easily accessible for those who find it difficult to climb stairs or uphill cobblestone. It takes about 5 minutes to reach the small city below, but may prove difficult to walk back up for those who have problems walking.
The rooms and decor are the epitome of a rustic Italian dream. The staff is extremely friendly, the property is breathlessly beautiful, and the small close by city is amazing.
This place is perfect for those who don't want to be absolutely surrounded by tourists, but would still like the choice of travelling to Almalfi by boat (30-45 minutes) or by car (1 hour). The beach is within 5-10 minutes walking distance, and a discount for beach chairs and an umbrella was given at the California Beach company since we were staying at the Palazzo Surriano.
There are several places nearby to eat (pizzerias, trattorias, gelaterias, and of course fish restaurants). If you want to leave the city, I recommend asking the staff to schedule a driver to visit another area, or in arranging a ride to the nearby marina to hop on a ferry or a tour. Palazzo has a table covered with different activities to do during your stay.
- jon (10/5): unique in many ways.... - WE like the unique/different things in life, for example, money permitting we're not creatures of habit who like too stay at a generic hotel chain over and over wherever we visit.
The point is that Palazzo Suriano is one of those hotels which is unique in many ways, you can see the attention to detail throughout the property.
We especially loved the breakfast, much of that on offer was either made by a local, or/and came from the garden, if it didn't come from the local garden, there was a feeling it came from local as opposed to a local supermarket.
The view from the balcony really made the room, overlooking the sea; if we didn't have this view, the stay wouldn't have been as memorable.
Other things of note, location was good, far away from the really busy places, but not too far. Not sure how good it would be without a car.
Getting to the property from the road above can be a bit of a hike depending on the entrance you choose.
The hosts were amazing, the most attentive we have ever encountered.
- Keren (10/5): Perfection and beyond! - We stayed for 3 nights at the Palazzo Suriano during early Dec. Although it is off-season and we were the only guests in the hotel, Paolo and stuff opened it just for us and gave us full attention and service. The hotel is very unique and interesting. A mix of authenticity and state of the art facility. The ocean view is exceptional and breath-taking. The room was extremely comfortable, wide and clean. Breakfast was delicious and rich. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming historical B&B - This building was built in the 17th century and was incredible to see. The property was truly amazing gardens. Beautiful view of the sea. Awesome breakfast included many homemade items and was delicious. We were upgraded from a garden view to a sea view room with a balcony at no charge which was lovely. The mattress was very hard... could use updating for comfort. Otherwise lovely!
- David (10/5): Nice hotel close to beach and quaint village - The staff, especially Paulo went above and beyond during our stay. I would highly recommend.
- Daniela (10/5): Excellent choice in Vietri Sul Mare - Palazzo Suriano is an absolute gem and we are very happy we stayed there during our recent vacation. Everything about this place is amazing - the gardens, the views, the rooms etc. Also, the owners and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Once we return to Amalfi Coast, we would probably stay again at Palazzo Suriano, this is how much we loved it. If you would like to stay in a quiet, elegant and totally relaxing place - Palazzo Suriano would be a great choice. If you travel by car, there is a garage as well, so you do not have to worry about parking, which can be quite an issue on the Amalfi Coast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely small hotel in a 19th century palazzo, carefully restored decor, beautiful gardens, lovely staff and the owners Paulo and Carlo are absolutely charming, helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Delightful jewel boutique hotel ! - Lovely, conveniently located and really charming ! Amazing views, full of unexpected delightful old-world palazzo style architectural and interior design items, owners go out of their way to help ! Breakfast is a visual feast as well as a real spread, in room tea-coffee, just about 50 steps from beach, many restaurants as well as Amalfi Coast Bust stops are just a few minutes walk We had a wonderful time here and I have recommended this already to many friends !
- Stephen (8/5): Absolutely great - Our overall impression was one of excellence in all areas we did however raise one concern during our stay the comfort of the bed it was far to hard and caused us to have a couple of disturbed nights. The owner informed us that he has plans to replace the mattresses this would make the experience out of this world. So what was the experience an e mail prior to the visit offering any help and assistance in including collection and advise on parking. The hotel is approached via a small road from the cliff road I was unable to use this as I have a large car. However we parked in the beach car par and were meet by Paulo- what a gem. The hotel is fantastic with marble stairs, terrace and library. The room itself was great good air con and very nicely appointed. I have mentioned the only draw back the bed!. The room we had shared a patio and had a great view. Outside there were several terraced areas with seating absolutely great. Change the beds back in a heartbeat.
- Ian (10/5): Lovely comfortable hotel and helpful staff - Palazzo Suriano is a beautiful, clean, comfortable place to stay. It is run by Paolo and Carlo, who take personal responsibility for making their customers as comfortable as possible. Nothing is too much trouble for them. When our hire car broke down as soon as we arrived, Paolo made numerous calls to the hire company to speak to them in Italian on our behalf. When the hire company failed to deliver a replacement car, Paolo took us all the way back to Naples to pick up the car. Whilst we were without a car, Carlo drove us to Salerno so that we could take a ferry trip, and so that we could still get around. Paolo has a vast knowledge of the local sites of archaeological and historical interest, and is able to recommend and advise as and when needed. The hotel has beautiful quiet gardens where you can sit and read with a bottle of wine (as we did!!), and an impressive library of books in both Italian and English. The breakfasts are beautiful, and 'all you can eat', and can be taken on the balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples, the sea sparking in the early morning sunshine. The 300 year-old frescos on the library ceiling are also well worth a look. This is a beautiful place to stay, in idyllic surroundings and we cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!
- married couple (10/5): Palazzo Suriano - A beautiful relaxing historical venue suited to couples.
