Guest Reviews
- Víctor Manuel (10/5): - La host extraordinaria
- Lot (6/5): - .
- Graciela (6/5): - The place needs an update. Everything looks old including the towels no warm blanket only bedspread
- Frank (10/5): Close to the centre - Great location and very helpful front desk. Older property but very comfortable
- Paolo (2/5): Do not recommend. - The cleanliness level of this hotel is definitely below acceptable standards. The bed sheets and towels were not clean, which made the stay uncomfortable. That being said, the staff is friendly and welcoming. While the price is reasonable, it does not justify such poor hygiene. I would not stay here again.
- Terrence R (2/5): One of the worst - Cockroaches the size of mice. Confusion at front desk over checkin. Barking hostile dog. Sound of Loud falling objects late at night. Poor shower.
- Nicole (6/5): - While the hotel is in a convenient area with lots within walking distance, and the facilities are also nice in appearance, I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. There was a dead cockroach that had been there so long its legs had fallen off. The sheets were not clean, the walls had smudges and marks all over them. It’s as if they hadn’t cleaned the room in months and forgot to do anything after the last person checked out (other than make the bed). There was also no toilet paper in our room and the air conditioning barely functioned. It never got cold. Overall rather unpleasant and this place could easily have made our stay a pleasant one with just a tiny bit of effort on their part.
- JORGE Noguera (10/5): - Buena ubicación, hotel en buenas condiciones y a precio adecuado. Todo queda caminando.
- jacqueline (2/5): - Looks nothing like photos. There is no restaurant, bar or cafe on the premises as stated in the ad. Poor water pressure in the shower. Outrageous price for what you get.
- Andrea (8/5): - Small family hotel, it was good for sleeping but could use some improvements. Only one plug in the room in the bathrrom.
- Carlos (10/5): - Amazing location, in the heart of it all!!
- Danielle (4/5): - Property looks much nicer in n photos than it actually is. My husband wants me to say that is front desk guy was nice. Everyone in the entire town is nice including the street dogs. What ever they show about Starbucks coffee or restaurant at the facility is not true. When we visited the restaurant was never open. Neither was the coffee shop. Little to no water pressure. The best part about the entire stay is that there is a butcher shop next door that slaughterers pigs every day between 3-4 am. Lovely sound to wake up too.
So all and all I wouldn’t recommend you stay here.
But the people are nice though 😒
- Yvonne (8/5): Good place for a short stay. - The hotel was a bit overpriced but, not bad. I didn't have hot water the first night. Since it seemed that I was the only guest there, I think they forgot to turn on the hot water heater when I arrived.
I used the a/c on dry mode but, unlike other units I've encountered, I could not set the desired temperature. Dry mode is so much nicer in humid areas than air conditioner mode. Plus, it saves a lot of electricity.
- Ilia (6/5): - The actual rooms are pretty typical but because of the straw roofs, the noise insulation wasn't the best, and because the hotel is on the busiest street in town, you will hear cars and people until late at night. So this place is only good if you have a room that is on the lower floor further inside the property away from the street. We got a deal so the price was almost worth it. The "included" continental breakfast was also very extremely subpar. The WiFi didn't work in our room either.
- Julie (8/5): - Location was perfect for us. Just parked the car and walked where we needed to go. Grocery store close. Breakfast good and cheap.
- natalie (4/5): - We were kept awake all night by neighbours barking dogs, then we moved rooms and had no wifi, roof was very old and had holes, rooftop patio needed to be swept or washed (full of dead leaves). Breakfast included but was very basic- skipped it in day two and went to a nearby restaurant. Staff were nice.
- Kathy (10/5): - Beautiful tropical plants all around
- Martijn (10/5): - Super friendly staff & checkin in a minute, tour organized in a second 👌
- marinus (10/5): - Super friendly people and helping us out any way they can. I would definitely come back!
- Jose (8/5): - Nice property in the plaza of Bacalar , walking distance to everything very safe
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I don’t know how this hotel has any good reviews. We booked it on the same day, when we arrived he seemed surprised to see us. He said he didn’t have any rooms and then told us he had 1 room available but he didn’t recommend it bc it was right on the street and it would be very loud. We asked him if he would cancel our reservation for us and he said because we hadn’t paid yet that he would just inform Expedia that we didn’t show up and then we wouldn’t be charged. Well I was charged for it. $140 (which is extremely overpriced) for a room we didn’t even stay in.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The location is good. The photos of the property and the palapa room did not represent the true condition. The hotel is run down. The sheets, towels, palapa roof and facilities are too worn for the cost. It was livable but I could have found a better value for the cost.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved this hotel. Very new and clean. Room was cute, with lots of space. The breakfast area was in the middle of a Hacienda style layout and the breakfast was plenty of fruit, bread and eggs. Upstairs deck had a sitting area. Location was right in the middle of the town, and we walked everywhere from there. Quick walk to water front. We will stay again. A little gem in Bacalar.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Haven - Great service. Little haven in Bacalar
- Myriam (8/5): - Nice hotel & service, though lots of surrounding noise
- Elizabeth (8/5): Clean and cute - Very nice facilities. The street is not the quietest, but the hotel was very nice. Quaint and cute with a very central location. I would recommend it, but it seemed a little expensive. Still, worthwhile.
- Idan (10/5): Fun time in bacalar - The only thing that wasn't good was the water current in our suite but everything else was so good it compensated!! Really really recommended!
- JENNEL (10/5): love this place! - amazing staff, super service! Bed was so comfy! I will stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place - Nice place around the lagoon
- Paul (6/5): Great place but club around corner - We wanted something different,. The hotel was very nice just the intown experience was very loud at night. There was a club down the street that didn't start till about 11 at night and went till about 4am no sleeping with the boom boom no way to close out the very loud music. too bad because hotel is a must stay. could be just weekends, Maybe ear plugs OR SLEEP DUURING DAY AND JOIN THEM AT NIGHT.
- Uriel (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel! - The hotel is beautiful. I loved the decor, I slept so comfortable in their soft king size bed. The breakfast was homemade. I had chilaquiles with an egg, fruit, juice, and coffee. Breakfast is included. The staff is very nice and friendly. The rooftop area is colorful and nice. I loved loved the Bvlgari body wash and soap that the hotel provides was a plus!!
- Steven (6/5): Hotel management mishandled our booking - The hotel management mishandled our reservation from Hotels.com. When we arrived the hotel management said that our reservation actually began one day later. We checked our files from one month earlier as well as spoke with hotels.com and confirmed that we had arrived on the correct day... that only Toto Blue had made this booking error. They proceeded to place us in an available room, but charged us a higher rate than the one quoted by hotels.com. The staff were cordial, but they were reluctant to accommodate the previously agreed upon price. The room was approximately 8 feet from a main city street that was noisy all night long. We did not sleep very well at all. Not only that, after our first night, we had to move all of our stuff to a different room for our second night AND they charged us for an extra bed that was already part of the original reservation. We will not be returning to this hotel anytime soon. For all those who book here, I recommend calling the hotel to confirm your booking before arriving.
- cetin (10/5): Dog friendly hotel - This was the cutest hotel ever!! It was walking distance to the attractions and most importantly it's dog friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Transplanted unassimilated 'chic' - This hotel is out of place - not blending at all with the neighborhood in style or feel. It is not walking distance from the lagoon aa advertised and costs twice as much and hostels with the same services directly on tge lagoon that include free breakfasts.
This hotel is staffed by teenagers who are sweet enough but don't speak a word of English nor are they trained to solve any crises or help tourists navigate around the town or environs. There was not a single map available at the front desk.
Towels were as rough as could be while saturated with a nauseating detergent smell.
There is nothing that justifies the $80 a night price for this hotel as'chic' as they are pretending to be. Many more better choices in better locations at 1/2 the price
- Jesse (8/5): Walkability - This hotel is in walking distance to the lagoon and the city center. The staff were friendly and the building was well put together aesthetically.
- Sarah (6/5): Very nice hotel with comfy beds, but..... - We stayed at Toto Blue in late November. We were the only guests that night. The room, the bed, and the linens were top notch. The staff was a bit brusque, not overly friendly as you expect in Mexico. They are located next to 4 of the best restaurants in town, and one block from the park. The biggest issue we had and why we would not return was the noise. Just before dark, the dogs of the surrounding neighborhood start the howling and barking. There are several packs of dogs that run loose, which sets off the ones behind fences at the houses. The night watchman snores very loudly as well, so dogs out the street facing window, and the snoring from within the inside of the common area, which we were directly above. While not the hotels fault really, there is no way we could recommend this hotel, especially if you have your own dogs with you.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel Boutique - The girl that Check us in was not the nicest one however the rest all the staff were very nice and accommodating specially the staff at the restaurant
They desperately need to update the dinner menu, they offer you the menu but they didnt have anything that was on it
The cooker offer us to cook some pasta and hamburgers but that was all she could offer us again she was very nice but please update the menu you have a very nice restaurant use it !
The room is cute just play attention in the small details there was dust avise the TV the window and bed courtains had stains on them you might need to wash them more often.
- TROY (10/5): Bacalar is Paradise - The hotel was great, The location is one of the best in the town.It was close to the lake, bus stop, restaurants and walking distance from night life. If you intend to visit this area you must, and I mean you must bring super strong anti-misquote cream they are aggressive and everywhere
- Scott C (8/5): - Hotel was very nice with great out door balcony. Only problem was no AC.
- John (8/5): Cute Boutique Hotel in Mahahual - Cute Boutique Hotel on the Beach in Mahahual. One of the best hotels to stay at in this area. Rooms are a bit small, but clean and comfortable with AC and fan. Rooms on the ground floor arent the quietest as the doors dont block sound well and you can hear the maids and other hotel guests talking in the hall. Food was fresh and adequate, and of the same standard as the other restaurants in the area. If you travel to a beach and expect Michelin star food, you will be disappointed, however. Keep expectations where they should be and your stay will be enjoyable.
- Angelica (10/5): Hidden Gem - Such a beautiful and stylish hotel
In the midst of a tiny town. The bed was amazing and so was the shower! The design is just stunning. Would stay here over and over again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely hotel - great people - Lovely hotel, in a fantastic position in the town, a small walk down to the laguna via the fort.
Staff were absolutely fantastic, couldn't be more helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel - It is a very nice hotel in which every single detail counts. You can feel the real "boutique" experience.
The staff is realy corteous.
- karen (8/5): Cute hotel - Overall a cute boutique hotel, rooms are nicely decorated and have a relaxed feel. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The only negatives is that the Wifi was terrible it didnt reach our room at all and was average at best even in the reception area. Also we could not use the bikes because they had not been maintained, the owner was apologetic and said they would take up our suggestions regarding bikes and wifi
- Roei (10/5): Lovely days in bacalar - Beautiful hotel and lovely rooms and bath, excellent service very good restaurant in the hotel
