Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely time with Maria and Stefan. We had fantastic pancakes for breakfast. We wish them all the best for the future.
- Scott (10/5): Great comfort, top-notch staff - The Inn sits on a quiet little piece of country right next to the city. The building is beautifuly designed and decorated. There is a private parking lot. The room i stayed in was very spacious, clean and comfortable. It had every amenity I could want. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making sure that guests are happy with all aspects of their stay, right down to the custom-ordered breakfast prepared with quality ingredients. I highly recommend staying at Villa Maria, and hope to return soon.
- Mark (10/5): Quiet night's stay in Edmonton - Our stay was very pleasant. The room was quiet and clean and the couple running the establishment were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Edmonton.
- Linda (10/5): Nice Bed and Breakfast - Maria was a very warm and welcoming host and we totally enjoyed our stay there. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was wonderful. We would definitely recommend Villa Marie to anyone who wants to stay in Edmonton.
- Neil (10/5): Very pleasant - As others have stated, this was just like a stay at Grandma's house. The accomodations, neighborhood, Maria's friendliness and helpfulness, the breakfast, the ease of checking in were all superb.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely B & B - Very friendly owner, nice and quite house, clean and comfy rooms with a home cooked breakfast. Worth every penny! I'd go here again over a hotel anyday!
- Dave & Rita (10/5): Enjoyable stay in West Edmonton area - We are seniors who enjoyed a lovely evening in a clean and quiet room. In the morning we had a wonderful conversation with the owners over a nutritious breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hospitality. - Very pleasant stay. Great B&B place in Edmonton. Would stay here again.
- Mike (8/5): very comfortable, quiet, peaceful, restful - first experience with a B & B but will not be our last. Great environment, caring hosts and wonderful service. Will stay there again. Would be a wonderful & safe place if my wife had to visit Edmonton alone.
- Mike (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable stay. - Very pleasant stay, great place, very cozy and relaxing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfy B&B - Very comfortable and very homey. Delicious pancakes and owners who care about their guests. Very sweet lady who helped us. Great price and got bumped up to a queen bed rather than a double for no extra cost. Full bathroom, good wifi and fridge in rooms. Would recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing little bed n breakfast. Would go back any time
- Stephen (10/5): A great place to stay. - I have visited Edmonton a couple of times this month. The first weekend, I stayed in a large chain Hotel.....nice, but very typical. Clean and sterile.
This last weekend, I discovered the "Villa Maria". What a refreshing change it was. I was greeted with a handshake from the owners, Maria & Stefan, shown to my room, which was warm and inviting and then shown the dining room, which was incredibly homely. In fact, I would say that's how would sum up the Villa Maria, Homely.
I look forward to staying there again
- Jamie (8/5): felt like I was staying with family - It was my first B&B and Maria offered to make me an omelette before the usual breakfast time as I had to be at work earlier. Extremely sweet and I felt like I was staying with family. I will stay there again. :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful B&B! - We stayed three nights. This is a great B&B. Maria and Stefan are warm, friendly and welcoming; We had great home made breakfasts -- from a choice of three breakfasts each day. We were usually the last in for breakfast and Maria would sit and chat with us -- we compared life histories!!!. Maria and Stefan have worked hard to get where they are today. At first I thought that the B&B location was going to be a bit awkward for us, but driving around Edmonton is so easy as compared to other cities like Toronto or Ottawa, so it was not a problem at all. The beds are comfortable. There is a fridge in the room. The water is hot. The room is quiet. The food is good. What more could you ask for???!!!! Yes, I would stay there again – absolutely!
- Not Provided (10/5): Great value and amazing host - Amazing stay, very clean house, great food, caring and hard working host, quiet house. I paid more and received worse service at other name brand hotels in Edmonton so this is great value for my money!
- Douglas (10/5): Wonderful B&B - We stayed overnight, and were extremely pleased with all aspects of the place.
- Michael (10/5): - The villa was just like being at home.......cozy and comfortable, would stay there again!!
- Hank (10/5): - Great quiet basic accomodations. Wonderful hosts. Super clean
- Grand-maman (10/5): L'accueil de Maria - Il faut souligner le merveilleux accueil de Maria. La maison est très grande et bien située près de l'autoroute et près du Edmonton Mail. Très bon déjeuner complet.
- Keith (10/5): Just like grandmother's house :) - A wonderful B&B that reminded me of my grandmother's house. Everything is new and clean, and the couple that runs it is very nice. Good breakfast, too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful b&b - The only downside to this place was the beds were not comfortable and the TV was old and small. Wifi signal was very weak. Super clean, hotel staff was almost too attentive for my liking, but that is not to complain. Maria is incredibly focused on giving a good experience, breakfast was very nice.
- Christian (8/5): Pratique et accueillant - Excellent accueil, excellent petit dejeuner, belle demeure, une route passante est proche, mais cela ne m'a pas gene.
- Ronald (8/5): Pleasant - Very pleasant overall. My only complaint would be that I was trying to book a room with a queen sized bed. When I got there, I was given a double bed.
- Larry (8/5): - Clean, quiet. Friendly hosts.
- Claude (8/5): Very clean - Had smallest room at the inn and there was only one or two others. Could have been given a bigger too for same price
- John (10/5): Hidden Gem. - We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Maria & Stefan were both most welcoming and did everything possible to ensure our comfort. The breakfasts were both wholesome and satisfying. We would have no hesitation in returning at a future date, or recommending to friends, since the service was excellent and the location is well positioned for trips to West Edmonton Mall without the hustle and bustle of being right in the city.
- Kristina (10/5): Support a small business vice big chains. - nice place.
- Evelyn (8/5): - The folks at Villa Maria were very nice and the whole facility was spotless and very charming however the air conditioning wasn't keeping up and was turned off during the night. Our room was very hot so not a good sleep. In all fairness when we were there it was very hot weather but if your catering to the public I think you need to be prepared to provide comfort in both hot and cold weather. Other than the heat the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was good. Again the whole home was spotless and very comfortable except for the heat, the hostess and host were very gracious. the location is excellent if your travelling west or accessing the west end of the city as well as easy access to the Yellowhead, Anthony Hendy or Whitemud free-ways and to the down-town areas.
- Jonathan (8/5): 3 days in Edmonton! - enjoyed Maria and Stefan's hospitality and fresh breakfasts! Treated like family!
- Jason (8/5): Good place to stay and quiet - À première vue ça n'inspirait pas trop confiance vu de l'extérieur, mais une fois à l'intérieur, j'ai été agréablement surpris par l’accueil chaleureux et la propreté général.
- Suzanne R (10/5): Best B&B - The Villa Maria is the best B&B we've ever stayed at. Maria is so hospitable and just a lovely person in general. The neighborhood is very quiet, and our room was cozy and comfortable. The dining area for breakfast is charming and friendly. We got to choose what and when we wanted to eat. We highly recommend this B&B!
- Lynndel (10/5): Excellent! - I loved my stay there! It was quiet fabulous and friendly service. I had everything I needed.
- Jamie (6/5): Bad Experience - There are 7 rooms in the hotel. I had originally booked 1 Queen bedroom for a friend of mine visiting from the States 2 weeks ahead of time online but was informed by the host when we arrived that the room was no longer available and was given the 2 double size Bedroom instead.
I had booked my friend in for 3 nights for 1 person only. It was an extra $100 per person to stay.
After a night out to dinner, I drove my friend back to the hotel around 9pm and left the room around 12:45pm to head back home. In the morning when I came to pick up my friend for lunch, I was informed that during breakfast the host had told him she received several complaints from clients the night before from a car leaving the parking during the night.
After dropping off my friend from dinner around 9pm. The host knocked on the door and advised me to leave before 10pm. She informed me that the room was only paid for 1 person and I must leave before 10pm. I ensured her I would not and do not intend to stay over as I lived only 5 mins away.
On the day of checking out my friend had informed me that the host had gave him a lecture on what it means to be a "dishonest person" implying to him that I was one.
Overall, the hotel meets its standards of cleaniness, convenience, and comfort. The host was initially friendly but rude to jump to conclusions based on her own ignorant assumptions.
I will not book another stay at this hotel again.
- Kelly (10/5): - Was greeted by Maria on arrival. She made me feel right at home. Breakfast was Awsome
- Lorraine (10/5): Feels like home! - Hostess very friendly and is very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful with choices.
- Donna (10/5): Awesome, quiet place to stay! I loved it! - Awesome stay and awesome people! Would highly recommend to family and friends!
- Devra (10/5): Two thumbs up! - Maria and husband were great. My room was super and breakfast was a bonus.
- Brenda (10/5): - I was in town for a course and the way I was treated was so wonderful. I felt like I was staying with my grandmother. It was a wonderful experience.
I would definitely go back.
- Ian and Rita (10/5): Quiet, comfortable, friendly - We were looking for quiet accommodations a little off the beaten path and found it in Villa Maria. Villa Maria is located to the West of Edmonton off Winterburn Road so is very accessible to motorists coming from the North and West. It is also easy to get to from the Airport via the Anthony Henday.
From the Villa Maria we were able to easily access all of Edmonton by car as it is close to three major road arteries.
We enjoyed excellent breakfasts each day and enjoyed the hospitality of owners Mi Mi and Stephan.
- Steve (10/5): lovely, homely comfort and service - Mimi and Stefan are excellent hosts. Excellent value with friendly professional service. I definitely recommend Villa Maria.
- Phil and Louise (10/5): Home away from home - Mimi (Maria) is a wonderful host. She is an amazing lady. Our room and breakfasts were great. Privacy if needed but a lovely common area to enjoy tales from around the world. We have already booked our return.
- Wolfgang (10/5): Home away from home - The location is excellent with access to restaurants and shopping within 5-10 minutes. I am always on the lookout for a quiet place to stay and was able to completely relax during my stay. The room and the entire common areas were immaculate. Breakfasts were tasty and able to accommodate my early schedule. The owners were very pleasant and unobtrusive. This was my first B&B experience. It was very positive and during my periodic travels to this area I will stay here again.
- Daryl (10/5): What a wonderful, quiet escape from hotels - My wife and I had a wonderful two-day stay at the Villa Maria March 9 - 11, 2015.
The B&B is located about 7 minutes west of the West Edmonton Mall, right off the Highway 16A on ramp, convenient, but far enough away that you hear nothing from the road. It was extremely quiet.
Mimi (sorry about the spelling, Mimi) and Stephan are your hosts, and if you wish, your new friends in Edmonton. Stephan was away, but Mimi treated us amazingly well.
When we checked in, she asked what time WE would like breakfast, and gave us two choices. I meant to ask her secret ingredient in her ham and cheese omelet! :)
The facility is great. It's the largest B&B we've stayed in - 8 guest rooms. Each has its own bath. Ours was a queen, and perfect.
Bed and Breakfast places are always hit and miss. They are not cookie cutter hotels. Mimi and Stephan built this one 8 years ago as a B&B, and did a great job!
They are very respectful of you and your stay, and expect you to be respectful of their home.
If you plan to go out partying, or stay in partying, may I suggest a Motel 6.
If you want to a great night or two or more away from the madding crowds, Villa Maria awaits you.
As for the neighbourhood? It's on an acreage, surrounded by honest people in middle class homes, with workshops and garages. Safe and quiet but not the prettiest.
Absolutely not a detractor for us. There was lots of parking, and their home is beautiful and well set up for your comfort.
