Guest Reviews
- Ryan (8/5): - The location was handy to attend a concert at the Thunderbird. Sheets were a bit scratchy.
- Aaron (10/5): - Fully equiped kitchen.
Moden finishes
- Andrea (10/5): One night - no plan, but a good room to rest. - Was in Vancouver for a concert on the UBC campus, great location, food options after 11 were sparse but if your up to a walk/trip late at night there were more further out. Room was clean, well equipped and quiet. Would probably be amazing for extended stays!
Only complaint is the amount of lights that are on. Exterior hall lights seemed to be always on and the light flooded under the door. Add the microwave and fridge leds made it a bit annoying. This only really applies to people who are light sensitive and find even the smallest light annoying (like me š)
- Miles (10/5): - Rooms and location are great - shower head would not stay in place and there were strands of hair on the bathroom floor
- Kalyani (10/5): - Nice
- Stacey (8/5): - Very convenient location
- Dallas (10/5): - Was perfect. Front desk very helpful. Not from around here so their help was awesome. The room was superb and comfortable. Price for size, well small. But I was expected.
- Ryan (2/5): - Staff tried to book me for an extra night for a bogus reason.
- Suzan (10/5): - Clean room, and the easiest checkout i have ever had
- Brigitte (8/5): - The on campus location is convenient. The suites are small but new and comfortable.
- Christina (10/5): - Just a perfect spaceāmini kitchen with dishes and pots and pans and complimentary coffee and tea with a Nespresso machine and a microwave and oven and full fridge. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower and bathroom were clean and included complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body and hand soap. A perfect space that was perfect for our needs. We stayed for only one night but would have been comfortable to stay for many more. I'm already looking forward to returning. Thank you!
- Tia (8/5): - It was tricky to find the suites after check in. Better signage would be beneficial
- Denise (10/5): - This is my third time staying at Gage Suites in a year and honestly I wouldnāt stay anywhere else.
You have a full size kitchen and supermarket within walking distance. Beaches are within walking distance. It is safe and clean.
- Bartosz (10/5): - Great stay
- Erol (10/5): - Very good accommodation on the outskirts of Vancouver at a better price than city centre, will need to bus it or Uber into Vancouver city though about 25min by car or 45min by bus
- Jennifer (10/5): - Room was super clean. Friendly staff. Ac worked. Great location. Beautiful property
- Craig (10/5): - Just a great place to stay
- Steve (8/5): - We love UBC and our daughter, a UBC alumna, lived in a suite in Gage Hall during the pandemic years and loved it! We were hoping our hotel room would have been as spacious as her suite but instead it was quite tight for two people, with no dining area. Still, we had a good stay and the price was great.
- Joseph (10/5): - Such a clean facility and room. Friendly staff. Convenient to restaurants and shopping. Only 7 miles to downtown Vancouver. Would definitely stay again.
- Karen (10/5): - The room was clean and reasonably priced. Would stay here again.
- Nadia (10/5): - Highly recommended! Great option when visiting your kids on UBC campus.
- Fiona (10/5): - Bus loop at campus provides convenient local transport to a lot of destinations.
- Keith (10/5): - Wonderful stay at Gage, exceeded our expectations. Lovely room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom and kitchen including stove, full fridge/freezer, dishwasher.
- Christopher (10/5): - Although I did not use it extensively, I appreciated the kitchenette facilities within the suite. Also, I was staying at the suite just as students were starting to return to campus -- so the "quiet" that I experienced may not be the normal scenario when classes are in session. Overall though, I thought that the facility was fantastic - and a great idea to make this available for parents of UBC students.
- christina (10/5): - great location on campus
- Maico (8/5): - Very modern and very clean ! Which is important to me the only reason I have it a 4 star was the mattress and pillows were not great, good just not canāt wait to put my head down for the night
- Kathryn (10/5): - Great lication. Quiet building
- Nicole (8/5): - Parking in the underground parkade, then finding the right building was a challenge when arriving late at night.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Great place to stay to visit UBC Gardens and Museum of Anthropology. The campus is very walkable and beautiful.
- Danish (6/5): - The location is extremely convenient to visit the UBC university and the rooms are clean and comfortable, however, the facilities and service is very poor. When my key card worked for the building entrance but not my room, the front office gave me a physical with a warning not to lose it in place of an apology for a faulty key card. When tea and coffee were not replenished, I was told I could get some from the front desk which is 2 buildings away rather than the same being sent to my room as their staff missed replenishg it. One night both elevators did not work and I had to climb 7 flights of stairs, yet there was no apology call / message on the following day. For the price, one would expect better.
- Nathaniel (4/5): Not a traditional hotel - If driving, be prepared to walk a fair distance for check-in and parking.
Check-in is in the Gage Towers student residence Commonsblock. It is not the typical hotel drive-up lobby. The rooms are in a separate building.
There is some designated street parking 1/2 - 3 blocks away, otherwise underground in the shared Gage residence parkade.
Hotel guest parking fees were in addition to our room rate.
- Jean Michel (10/5): - Nice place, accommodation have pots and pans, dishwasher. Its clean . Its different from other place ive been ,its on the campus, ppls are helpful and its safe to walk in middle of the night!
- Nicki & David (10/5): - Comfortable bed with the best coffee shop āGreat Daneā around the corner. Loved being back on a campus however away from student activities. Iād love to go back and stay.
- Reginald (8/5): - All good. A mirror in the area outside of the washroom would be appreciated. That could facilitate 2 people to get ready at the same time. Thank you.
- Christine (10/5): - Check-in and out was easy and friendly. I enjoyed being on campus. Uber accessible. Cleaning staff were very friendly. Room has āechoesā of a dirm but the nespresso and lovely lotion and shampoo etc products said āhotelā.
- SUSIE (10/5): Nice Clean Stay - The residence/hotel is situated on campus in a seven storey building. Room was very clean and easy to drive into the city. Only stayed for one night and it was perfect.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Maryna (10/5): - :)
- Estela (10/5): - Other than the extra pay parking, GAGE is perfect! I will definitely come back.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Clean, friendly staff, and overall a good stay. No issues.
- David (8/5): Great location - Great venue for concert at onsite sports arena. Weekend of returning students but checked in quickly and staff helpful
- Paula (10/5): - Gage Suites was a great place to stay on the UBC Campus & convenient for visiting the Museum of Anthropology. There were several cafe options within a few minutes walk to obtain coffee & food for breakfast.
The room was very clean, and had a kitchenette, which we did not need on this particular trip.
The room felt kind of small for 2 people, and there was no seating aside from the bed & a desk chair. It would be a better room for one person.
- Gregory (10/5): - This was the perfect location to stay while helping our daughter get situated at UBC for graduate school. Itās right in the heart of campus and an easy walk to get anywhere in campus. Lots of transportation options if not using your own car (ride share, bus, taxi). My wife and I would definitely stay there again!
- tsuyoshi (10/5): - Good hotel !!
- FARRAH (8/5): - Grwat location in the heart of the university district which is so quaint and beautiful
- Catherine (10/5): - Excellent accommodation, service, and location
- Eric (8/5): Great to visit UBC - Great location to visit a student at UBC. Clean rooms. Good cooling. Many amenities and the campus is beautiful.
- Ryan (6/5): Nice, small, very $$ - Room is very small, but has a full bed and a full kitchen. Desk is almost unusable, which is odd for a university. Very modern, very clean. Very expensive! I was charged $400 cdn after taxes for only one night! It is the only hotel choice even close to UBC, so the university knows they can for gouge you.
- Kashyap (10/5): - Great stay at Gage suites @ UBC
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location.
Easy and simple.
- Robert (10/5): - The shower backed up during my stay
Not pleasant
- Julie (10/5): - Great location on UBC campus. Safe and clean accommodations.
- Grandison (10/5): - Didnāt try public transportation but apparently itās available. Nice walkable campus & local beaches.
- Barb (6/5): - I liked the property. It was too expensive considering how far away it was and the parking was not convenient.
- Edward (10/5): Vancouver stay - Convenient for family visit
- gordon (8/5): - It was a convenient location for the wedding we attended at the UBC Rose Garden. We enjoyed our one night stay.
- LUDMILA (10/5): - Very nice accommodations on a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, beautiful university campus. We plan on returning.
- Babak (10/5): - Excellent choice and great location
- Sandra (10/5): UBC Hidden Jem - Gage is a great choice for staying close to UBC. It has the option to allow for cooking our own meals or going out. The location is walk-able to some great restaurants. I will look here first for my next stay in Vancouver.
- Jacob (10/5): Perfect stay - Beautiful suites, clean and comfortable. Excellent service and good location. Convenient restaurants.
- Maya (10/5): - Clean and safe
- David (10/5): - Very nice size room. Great location and away from the crowds.
- Wynne (10/5): - Quiet, clean and super close to restaurants
- Antonio (8/5): - safe
- Hongzhou (8/5): - overall very good
- Debra (10/5): - Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The area is safe with a Tim Hortons close by. Easy car drive to Stanley Park and Capalano Suspension Bridge. Bus station less than five minutes away with transport to Vancouver city centre. Would certainly stay here again.
- Alfred (10/5): - Great place, clean and like new rooms and beds. Stayed there many times and will again when I need anything close to UBC.
- Michael (6/5): Expected More - The room was HOT when I arrived. Tried the AC but right over the bed. So turned off. Fortunately a small window opened. Just didnāt feel like a $300+ room.
- Richard (8/5): - The pros: There was more to the room than I expected - had a kitchen fully stocked with dishes - lots of space. The bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. The cons: the sheets werent in very good condition (stained) and there was only a shower, no tub. Also the check-in desk/reception was in a different building which was fine but just slightly less convenient all around. You'd need to leave the building to get any neccessities (such as a toothbrush that I forgot). Also not very soundproof. Overall though decent and close enough to UBC hospital...about a 10 min walk... I would stay there again.
- Raye (10/5): - The property was comfortable and convenient, I highly recommend it!
- Michele (10/5): - The room is ok. Only a shower, no tub. My only complaint was how difficult it was to find the front desk.
- Brad (10/5): - Clean
- Richard (10/5): Pleasant Stay. - Was visiting Vancouver for medical. Gage Suites is affordable and pleasant. Enjoyed my stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great - It was great overall . A little hard to find the building but one of the best hotels in terms of how things were clean and comfortable
- Kathleen (8/5): A Most Comfortable Stay - My stay at the Gage Suites UBC was very comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The mini-kitchen so useful and the room light-full during the day and the blackout curtains making it dark at night. My room was perfect as a solo traveler. And, the UBC campus is GORGEOUS!!
- Thomas (8/5): - A nice stay.
- Anne (6/5): - Pro: on campus.
Cons: the rooms are outdated, and there were issues with my toilet always running and the toilet seat was way beyond needing replacement as it was peeling.
For the room price, I expected a much nicer experience.
When I did have someone come in to freshen up, one of the staff had such poor body odor that I had to spray perfumes to get the smell out. It truly left a lingering bad smell.
Other complaints but this is the gist of it.
- Anthony (10/5): - Great place to stay. Reasonable price. Convenient location. Stimulating college atmosphere. Highly recommend.
- Camelia (10/5): - Our stay in the UBC campus Gage building was great, we'll stay here again.
- Lei (10/5): - Beautiful campus. A relaxing family vacation. Many good choices for meal.
- Debra (10/5): - Excellent accommodation. Very clean, safe area and handy kitchenette. Would recommend.
- Michael (10/5): - Clean and quiet compared to downtown.
- karen (10/5): - Perfect
- Tim (6/5): - Slow reception
- Jeramy (10/5): - Great proximity to Thunderbird stadium!
- Alice (8/5): - My stay was in the West Coast building; contemporary styling, relatively new. However, signal for TV reception was extremely slow, generally cannot view any programs.
- JS (10/5): - Nothing fancy. It has all the basic amenities for a short stay. It's clean and neat. And the rate is reasonable.
- Silke (10/5): - I recently stayed at Gage Suites UBC and could not have asked for a better experience. The accommodations are brand new, spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully furnished; I felt completely at ease the moment I arrived. Having a full kitchen and a cozy living area made it simple to unwind after a day of exploring and equally easy to stay productive when I needed to work. The bathroom was a highlight: excellent water pressure and a sleek, modern design made every shower a pleasure. The staff went above and beyond with their warmth and attentiveness, offering helpful suggestions and responding to every request without delay. With its prime on-campus location, I was able to stroll through UBCās stunning grounds and enjoy nearby dining and shops within minutes. I wholeheartedly recommend Gage Suites UBC to anyone looking for a true five-star stay in Vancouver.
- Margareth (10/5): - I liked the private washroom and kitchen with fridge.
- Spencer (6/5): - A very nice hotel but very small space for two people. It felt like a high end hotel but the space was very small for two people. Great location, however, on the UBC campus. Total access to the university facilities including the Olympic size pool for a very small fee.
- Rick (10/5): - A great place to come home to after a long day of sightseeing. Much more affordable than many of the overpriced hotels in downtown Vancouver, and only a short easy 6 mile drive to the downtown area. It is very convenient and close to folks wishing to visit Wreck Beach.
- Tawnya (10/5): - Very clean, comfortable bed, quiet. Only issue is that check in is a little difficult to find.
Multiple towers so ask where your room is and parking can be a little confusing. Will definitely stay again during summer.
- Miho (8/5): - Stayed one night with my college age son before his summer ESL program starts. Just to familiarize himself to the area and confirm the commuting route after he moves to an Airbnb.
I wish I could stay here longer. This is very convenient place to be close to UBC but the room rate was quite expensive so we only stayed there one night.
- Gillian (10/5): - Very clean room and a comfortable bed. Would highly recommend for any trip that takes you near the university.
- James (10/5): - Great campus.
- Andrea (10/5): - Good location for campus activities. Nice surroundings. Good parking. My only complaint is terrible pillows. Otherwise good value
- Rudy (10/5): - Close to wreck beach
- Angela (8/5): - Basic room and furnishings. Clean. Pull out bed is very thin - can feel the bars and springs. Bedding is thin.
- Salatiel (8/5): - Nice property. Was not sure where to find parking for the property. Ended finally finding the parking garage. Room was well equipped with essentials. Spacious and had a full small kitchen. Bathroom and sink area nicely set.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great location, friendly staff. Please post the 1-800 on Expedia as no one answered the number for hotel that Expedia has listed. I had to do some searching to change my reservation with the hotel.
