Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Charming room, comfy beds, beautiful quilts, knowledgeable host
- RanjitWimalasen (6/5): - The beds were comfortable with clean linen. The room was good. To get
water one had to go downstairs to the kitchen but at night the dog was in
there. The shower head and the toilet needs a change ASAP. The bathroom was roomy and clean. The rooms had no locks and the main door was unlocked all day. The land lady was very pleasant and helpful.
Cannot give a high rating.
- Deb (2/5): - I was shocked to find out that we had to share 1 bathroom with the rest of the house. Our room was on the 2nd floor and having to wait for others to vacate the bathroom and middle of the night trips to it were very undesirable. Also, the owner has a very large dog. One of my group is extremely allergic to dogs so we had to cut our visit short. No where was it listed that there was a dog. In today's world of allergies, I would think notification of such would be mandatory. The breakfast included applesauce cups (like what I give my grandchildren) and instant coffee. Not at all what I'm used to at a "bed and breakfast". Very disappointing.
- Kathy (8/5): - Within walking distance to restaurants and shops.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Louise was lovely and all the little treats (hot chocolate, popcorn, fruit etc) were a great touch. The bathroom and floors were spotless but the bedding could have been cleaner.
- Kishore (10/5): Cute little house in Jasper Ville - Amazing stay at this cute little house, thanks Louise for sharing her place with us. We were at our room upstairs (had good privacy), easy access to the house and got parking right at front, great decorations in the house, books/guides for Jasper and Rockies. Louise replenished fresh fruits, bread/butter/jam, coffee and milk in the room during our stay and we had popcorn too! The bathroom downstairs was shared but it worked out all fine. All in all, a very comfortable stay!
- Catherine (8/5): Enjoyable stay in Jasper - Louise was very welcoming and informative. Calla’s Palace has 2 guest bedrooms with a shared bathroom and is within easy walking distance to the main street. Cereals, toast, fruit, tea and coffee are provided for breakfast. The double bed in our room was very comfortable, but unfortunately there was no safe available. Overall we had a lovely stay. The scenery around Jasper is stunning and the various walks we went on were very enjoyable with many sightings of wildlife.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very nice home a few minutes away from downtown. The room was lovely and cozy. Everything had a personal touch and really made us feel like we were home.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - If you want a weekend without TV but instead many antiques and artistic treasures around you then this is a good B&B for you. We had the entire upper floor to ourselves and felt very cozy sleeping with home made quilts etc. Breakfast was great and there are facility to do some food prep in your room.
Very close to everything in Jasper and the owner was very knowledgable aboit things to do in and around Jasper.
If you have mobility issues get the downstairs suite. The only negative is there is no second floor bathroom so you had to go downstairs to shower or even relieve yourself. If you get the downstairs suite this is not a problem. It would be tight to put 4 people in a room as it lacks closets...but for a couple there was ample space. This house is a charming antique and art haven and I enjoyed it.
- Skifamily (10/5): - Our stay was cosy, warm and comfortable. It was within easy reach of all the local restaurants. We could come and go as we pleased, and were able to use the living room in the evening. Great shower too - perfect after a day's skiing! My only negative comment would be that the mattresses were on the soft side (for me) and perhaps need changing. On the whole, though, excellent value, and we'd stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay as a family at Callas Palace. There were books and toys for our kids. It was quiet and comfortable and centrally located in Jasper.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We weren’t aware that there were stairs to climb to get to our room and that the bathroom was only on the main floor, which meant (with us being older, and getting up a couple of times in the middle of the nite) meant extra wear/tear on the knees (maybe in the future you could mention that in the details that only has main floor bathroom - so if your older you can request main floor; as there was one room by the washroom- but was occupied by 2 young ladies when we arrived).
Also when printing receipts once booked on line, we were under the impression that everything was paid for until Louise asked us to clear up our bill - if that is the case that you are to pay at the end of the visit why are you required to pay (give visa number) if it’s not being charged. Was not impressed with that, we had thought is was cleared up.
All in all everything was well, clean, friendly environment.
- Michelle (8/5): - We received a friendly welcome. Everything was to a high standard.
- Kerrie (4/5): Upstairs with 2 beds - Although we liked the location of the house we were not happy with the cleanliness of the room. Walked into house to a bad smell, we opened up the windows in the room but couldn't get rid of the smell. Decorative pillows on the beds were covered in dust , blankets and sheets smelt which made sleeping very hard. We didn't enjoy our stay there. Room was very dated with décor, had a broken window over our heads letting in cold air all night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Calla’s Palace is a nice place, very clean and close to everything in Jasper.
We really enjoyed our stay there.
Next time I will try to stay there again.
Thanks.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - nice b&b with breakfast in a lovely nook.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a good average accommodation for the price. Owner was very friendly and helpful.
- Rob (10/5): Great place, close to downtown - Great B&B host, always friendly and has lots of great suggestions. The stay was close to downtown so everything was very accessible. No fixed schedule for breakfast, just supplied cereal, oatmeal, toast, coffee, and tea to match our own schedule.
- Dian (8/5): A very nice place to stay. - The place was really nice, and Louise was really nice also. We had things covered and though there's only one bathroom, it's not a problem for us all. Hope we could stay longer in jasper next time! :)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location and friendly host but needs a good clean and declutter.
- Kal (6/5): Unusually costly, 3rd class place. - Room TV does not work, Bathroom shower knob does not either, there was hardly any breakfast - I hate this place.
- Andre (10/5): Perfect place in Jasper - Our host was so warmful and gênerons of hier Time. So quiet for a downtown place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Old bath room equipment. Bed is too soft and bedsheets are not clean. Good location though.
- Imogen (10/5): A treat for the solo traveller. - Louise was a really lovely host, making me feel very welcomed, and she helped me out with things that she did not have to do.
- Junhui (6/5): a place to sleep - It is a place to sleep. From the money I paid, it worth.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and cosy accommodation - We stayed here with our two children and found the room very comfortable. I was apprehensive about the shared washroom but always found it clean and didn't have to wait to get in. The house has lots of character and it reminded me of staying with a favourite aunt... if you are looking for more of a hotel experience, this might not be a good fit. But if you like the coziness of a house, you will enjoy this accommodation.
- Patti (10/5): Will stay again! - Very helpful and welcoming hostess. The room was spacious and there were plenty of extra towels and blankets. Slippers were also provided. The whole house is immaculate and beautifully decorated The washroom is clean and there is a choice of tub or shower as well as a roomy sink and counter. In the room there is a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Coffee, jam, bread, fruit, butter, etc. are provided. The neighborhood is quiet and the bed was comfortable. The distance from the train station and downtown is about a 7 minute easy walk. I asked if I could pet the very well behaved dog and he was briefly allowed to come in and greet me. I'd definitely stay here again, well priced, clean, quiet and beautiful place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): This is a nice, quiet B&B - We stayed in a queen size room. Shared bathroom next door. Breakfast nook outside the bedroom. The television in the room did not work. Louise, the host, is very pleasant and amiable. Guests are free to come and go. Breakfast is quite plain--some fruit, standard grocery store bread to make toast, cold cereal, instant coffee or tea.
- Dennis (8/5): - Cozy, warm, quiet, hospitable...and affordable. Enjoyed our stay!
- Kok (8/5): Warm & cosy bnb - Very lovely & cosy home. Owner Louise was very hospitable & pleasant. We were very happy to have found Calla's Palace.
- Janice (10/5): cosy, clean, nicely decorated B&B - The house was lovely and warm and cozy. The hostess was very nice and friendly.
- John (10/5): - A quiet warm cosy place in the snow, Friendly host and great dog.
- Susan (4/5): So-so in need of updates - This place seems somewhat tired & in need of some updating & simplification. Caught in the 80's perhaps. Our host kept her distance but one old dog was quite friendly. The self-serve continental breakfast would have benefitted from real coffee rather than instant. So a basic, clean place but nothing special.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely artistic home - We had a wonderful 6 night stay at Calla’s Palace. The owner is lovely, welcoming and hospitable. She had a playpen set up that we were able to use for our 5 month old. The rooms are spacious and the home was beautifully decorated as the owner is artistic. The turn style lock on the washroom worked well and we felt safe staying in the home. The owner’s dog was lovely and was kept out of our way in a different section of the house. Calla’s Palace is extremely convenient as it is a two minute walk to the shops and restaurants in downtown Jasper. The owner is also highly knowledgeable about things to do in the area.
- richard (6/5): good - owner was nice and house was in good location
- Bob (6/5): Jasper B n B - We had downstairs room, the upstairs room had two double beds; breakfast was self serve cereal, fruit, toast, coffee or tea.
- Teresa (2/5): room double booked - unable to rate as the room was double booked and we had to stay at another place. there is no allowance for 'not applicable' rating in your survey
- Annie (10/5): Lovely Guest House in Jasper - This guest house offers a beautifully decorated bedroom, well appointed bathroom ( which might be shared) nice breakfast set up. Location is great, host is considerate and helpful. I would stay there again.
- emmanuel (10/5): Convenient and Good Value - Homey, friendly services and very close to restaurants.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A great hotel but... - Their wifi was too slow to browse the internet. However, other things are excellent.
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely Stay in Charming Space - Super cute room upstairs with lovely quilts as bed spreads and nicely supplied breakfast setting. House is a charming character home with equally pleasing host and accompanying dog. House does smell like dog/urine fairly pervasively but appeal of space overcomes the detraction. Super close to downtown and had lots of helpful information about local attractions.
- Jess (10/5): Homely BnB - Louise was lovely so welcoming and after being abroad her home was just that a home. Her gorgeous dog Harley and all the patchwork was just a lovely addition. The bedrooms were large and beds very comfortable and warm which was important in a jasper winter. The breakfast that was available provided so many options. Louise had great recommendations for food, knowledge of local deals and which sites were worth seeing. All in all I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone who wants that home feel rather than a stale hotel.
- YAN SUNG (8/5): Lovely place to stay in Jasper - Great place. Very friendly owner. Vert helpful in giving us tour spots suggestions. Lovely dogs.
- Keith (10/5): Wonderful - Everything was super. Excellent choice. Such a pleasant hostess.
- Paul (6/5): - This is a suburban house offering a single bedroom with separate bathroom.
A do it yourself breakfast was provided.
It comfortable enough, and quite efficient
- Doris (8/5): Calla's Palace August 2015 - Louise welcomed us when we got to her place having walked from the train station where the Brewster Bus let us off. We stayed over night so that we could catch the Skeena train at noon the next day. As it turned out, the person who had booked the other room did not show up so we had the bathroom (downstairs) to ourselves. After reading the varied reviews, we weren't sure what to expect but were pleased with our decision to stay at Calla's Palace and would stay there again if we were to visit Jasper in the future.
- VVegas (2/5): Not what we expected - Based on the fact that this property is a :| and the owner sent a private welcome message after making the booking on expedia, this place was not what we expected. She was very nice, but the sheets were dirty (smelled like somebody else's sweat) and there was 2 dogs in the house: one that followed us EVERYWHERE within the house! Yes, in the bedroom and bathroom! And another one that stayed in the back during the day and was put in the front room at night. The party of our group who stayed there spoke very little English, therefore they didn't voice their opinion to the owner right away, plus other rooms in Jasper were either sold out or super expensive.
Anyway, we will not be staying there again nor recommend it to others. And hope that Expedia seriously reconsider selling rooms for this property! The dog situation is very serious!!!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Should have read the reviews before I booked - Info on listing was not correct at the time I booked this, it is a room in house with 1 shared bathroom for all. We were "lucky" to have downstairs room next to the bathroom so didn't have to move through the house like the other guests but flip side is the walls are very thin.
While a lot of people have commentated about the dogs, they are friendly but very smelly so their is a lot of fur etc around.
- tom (8/5): nice place to be - really nice place and very close to the center. nice dogs and really nice house-mom.
- Karen (8/5): Warm welcome! - We were supposed to leave on the train at 2:30 pm the next day…but it was delayed by 5 hours. Our hostess at Calla's kindly let us stay in the room til 4 pm. She was helpful in every way.
