Guest Reviews
- Alfonso (10/5): - A good place to relax
- Oscar (10/5): - The hotel is very nice and comfortable.
- keith (8/5): - The staff at Meson de Mita were incredible. Nice pool right on the beach in the heart of town. Would recommend!
- Kristina (10/5): - The room with one bed had a double bed, preferene would have been a bed a bit bigger like a queen bed. Only had two pillows. 4 pillows would have been comfortable.
Breakfast food was delicious, variable menu, in
generous portions at a very decent price. ( We prepaid) Service was friendly and excellent.
We plan to return if the occasion arises.
- Joshua (10/5): - Nope
- amanda (6/5): - This place was just ok. If you’re going for one or two days it will be fine. We stayed a week and it was too long. The area is nothing special - the best part of this town is the food- don’t eat at the expensive restaurant next door. Go local up in the streets.
- William (10/5): - ~ Great staff, friendly and helpful!
~ 50 feet from my room to the beach!
~ MINA, world-class restaurant on premises
~ Clean pool, refreshing!
~ Breakfast by the pool!
~ Affordable (less than $100/night!)
~ Punta de Mita's best kept secret (until now!).
- Robert (6/5): - Expensive for what you get.
- Marlene (10/5): - The best bang for your buck, I wanted small, clean, quiet and authentic. This place has it all. I would highly recommend
- Michael (10/5): - This is a hidden gem! WiFi is a bit spotty, however, everything else is so great that it doesn’t matter. Breakfast is adequate. I do wish there were refrigerators offered and also some option to buy bottled water. (You do get 2 bottles upon arrival).
We will be back!
- Geoffrey (8/5): - Great location and reasonable rates.
- Steven (8/5): - Good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For what I paid per night, I had no complaints about the hotel.
The beds are a bit firm, the hot water takes a couple minutes to get to temp, and the TV has no English channels, but this is Mexico after all. I had an upstairs room on the street and there's some noise until 11pm or so and the city comes alive around 7am but with ear plugs I slept great as late as I wanted. If I return I will not select a city view room.
There are plenty of restaurants nearby and I'd recommend La Cabana for breakfast or a casual dinner. Right on the water, with great service, good food, and reasonable prices.
- Rodrigo (10/5): - a lovely place for couples
- Martin (10/5): - This is my second time at this hotel, and both times were very enjoyable. Great location, clean, friendly, helpful staff. The only thing is water pressure and lack of hot water for showers. Not a big deal for us since it the weather was too hot to want a hot shower. Staff was really sweet and moved us to another room when A/C had problems.
- Karen (10/5): - All good. Nice surf break to the left of the property facing the ocean.
- Mark (8/5): - Recommend fixing hot water. Changed rooms after 2 nights of no hot water in shower
- Elisa (10/5): - Adorable rustic beach hotel, lovely and extremely helpful staff, great area, beach access, gorgeous views and facility, and excellent value for the money. My only complaint is there is no safety lock on the room doors, just a plain lock-and-key mechanism. Even the though I hung the “do not disturb” sign on the door, the cleaning woman still knocked loudly on my door as I was sleeping and opened the door since she didn’t hear me answer immediately - that’s my only complaint. Other than than, my stay was lovely and I would definitely return!
- Bernice (8/5): Beautiful beach view - Lovely beach view but beach not swimmable ( next door was). Off-street parking was good and bed was comfy but room was over the kitchen and not quiet.
- Laura (10/5): - Very friendly staff and extremely accommodating!
Great location and a nice stop over place to stay before we checked into our condo. Convenient location to all the great restaurants in town!
- Megan (10/5): - This is a quaint, no frills option in the heart of it all. We loved it. Bring ear plugs to sleep if you're not ready for the sounds of Mexico.
- glyn (8/5): - A beautiful location! Quaint little town too.
Room had two beds but no chair t sit.
We would stay here again, and recommend to friends.
- Linda (6/5): - Overall for the price, the hotel was more than acceptable. The location is excellent with a lovely pool and an ocean view. The hotel is located on the main street within walking distance of shopping and restaurants and beach access. The staff was very attentive and extremely friendly. The only problem I had was with my room. The bathroom was extremely small and the toilet lid would not stay up As it was not the right size for the small toilet, which, made it difficult to use the toilet. Also, there was absolutely no hot water to my room. Therefore had cold showers every day. Even after bringing it to the attention of the staff, the problem was not resolved during my entire stay. Aside from these issues, for the price, the hotel was comfortable, clean, had good amenities and an excellent location.
- ian (6/5): - So if you want to stay in this area the hotel is ok. If you want to stay in this area!!
- DOUGLAS (6/5): - Hotel provides only two bottles of drinking water regardless of how long you stay. No other drinking water was provided on the property. I had to ask the front desk for more soap and shampoo as they were not provided by cleaners. The towels are threadbare. A bit shabby but otherwise a nice little beachfront place to stay.
- Nathan (6/5): Too loud at night. - I wanted to like this place….the grounds are cute and it was clean…however, it was way too loud until wee hours of morning a few nights (people talking and partying) and the bed was too hard. Overall can’t recommend.
- Sharon (10/5): Great location - Love the location on the beach. Has a pool and also a dedicated area for massages. Walk to fishing cooperative next door and plenty of restaurants and shopping.
- Mark (8/5): - Staff was above average.
- Magali (8/5): - Excelente view but the swimming pool not working 😢
- Robert (10/5): My Punta Mita place - Great location right on the beach. Small little town with some nice restaurants all within walking distance. The beach can be rocky so wear sandals Nice lot for parking a car. The pool was small but also very nice
- Michael (10/5): - I stayed for 9 days in April and very much enjoyed my stay. Not everything worked perfectly, but for the money, I was really very pleased. Coral and the rest of the crew were very nice and accommodating, allowing me to move to a new room which was a little larger and with more natural light. They were also all very supportive and patient as I tried to use/practice my broken spanish, which believe it or not was very important to me and very much appreciated. Oceanfront pool and surrounding patio area was beautiful, clean, and relaxing. This was my first time in this part of Mexico, traveling alone, and felt very safe both near the hotel as well as on foot all around Punta Mita. Thank you Hotel Meson de Mita crew!
- YOLANDA (10/5): - Excellent location and service.
- Gabriel (10/5): Great Stay! - The hotel was conveniently located in the town, so everything was within walking distance. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the pool area and got a massage, which was great. I would definitely stay here again!
- Tamara (8/5): OK for price there - Punta de Mita in general has changed SO much since the last time I was there (probably over a decade ago). Very wealthy tourists with condos and I paid more than US prices everywhere I went. With the amount of money it's sad that more funds have not been put towards water/waste facilities. Still can't drink the water there and garbage all over still. It is also LOUD and busy with too many vendors.
That being said the hotel was decent. I booked on accident and they would not cancel even though Hotels.com contacted them for two days almost immediately so I only stayed 4 out of my 7 days. Staff are nice and a I had good massage. Hotel is clean. Breakfast is OK. Close to small beach. Nice families. The "sewer ditch" is actually just a creek it just smells and it full of trash due to the area not investing in protecting the environment but that isn't this hotels fault. Didn't smell when I was there. You have to put deposit down for remotes and beach towels. Restaurant next door is epic but expensive like everything else there now. Avoiding Punta de Mita in the future but this hotel was OK. There is construction, parties, barking dogs so I never slept well but again not hotels fault.
- Brenda (8/5): - Staff were very pleasant. The pool was lovely. The view and oceanfront is beautiful. Our particular room was not as clean as i think it could be and the toilet seat lid would not open fully, weird.
- James (8/5): Ok, for the price… - It doesn’t cost much to stay here so for the price, it was better than expected. Our room had no windows and somehow I think I should have been told that prior to booking.
The grounds, pool and beach area are great.
Only real complaint is that the bed was very, very hard and uncomfortable.
- Christine (8/5): - The beach in front of the pool was awesome. The hostel was close to lots of restaurants. However there was a sewage ditch beside the building that created awful smells if the wind was going the wrong way. Very unpleasant!
- Luzma (8/5): - Limpio y sencillo. Buena ubicación en la calle principal de Punta Mita. Cuando la marea es alta, se puede disfrutar del agua de mar. El desayuno está rico y el personal es muy atento y amable.
- Dean (8/5): - the help were excellent
- Dean (10/5): - friendly folks
- Daniel R (6/5): - Property was nice and clean, the room was little out dated first night there, the electricity failed for about 24 hours, hotel dose not have generator or back up plan for electric failer, there are no taxis you are forced to pay $90 DOLLAR for a ride to town or airport.
- Rejean (6/5): - The hotel was okay and pretty.
- Katrina (2/5): Not Happy - Sadly I have to say this was our worst experience in Mexico. The pictures of the Hotel make it look like a wonderful, quiet place to enjoy. It was not at all. There is construction everywhere in Mexico. We have stayed next to hotels under construction in Mexico a few times and it wasn’t bad. However the construction going on next door to this hotel is so loud and aggressive you can not enjoy the pool at all and from the pictures of the hotel it looked relaxing that’s why we booked it. When you enter the room it smelled of sewer. We thought maybe it would go away but the smell didn’t, it only got worse. The TV had a static noise the whole time when it was on. I went to the reception and asked to cancel the next night and that was not possible. It was so unbearable, we took the loss and left the next morning. I also sent an email to the person in charge of the refund and still no response after 6 days of sending an email. The restaurants next door are all overpriced. Another guest told us her whole family got food poisoning from the taco stand on the beach and when we tried to get a taxi out of there they wanted to charge us 5 times what it should have. We will NEVER be going back to this side of Punta Mita!
- Clinton (10/5): - A beautiful Pool right on the ocean….what more do you need?
- Steven (10/5): - Liked beach location, clean and quiet. Staff were efficient and responsive especially keeping room clean and facilities well-maintained. The only negative was reception staff although helpful did not understand basic English and relied on a phone app for awkwardly communicating. They tried but was frustrating for them as well as the customer.
- Andrew (8/5): - Overall nice property but we stayed in MAR and the 4 days we were there the balcony was ever cleaned. Bird poop from weeks (maybe) earlier. Little thing like safes not working and air. The workers sat back behind glass windows instead of being accessible to customers. Again very nice place but not a 5
- Victor (6/5): - It needs an update urgently
- Todd (10/5): Feliz Navidad from Meson de Mita - Great spot, awesome staff; clean, neat and tidy all the time. A great no pressure trip. Mina being right there was incredible.
- Sandy (10/5): - We just love this little place and have stayed prior to this time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Noisy and dangerous - Staff were nice and location is great.
However, next door construction site is a disaster: nonstop noise and drilling, even at night, dirt and dust everywhere, zero parking because trucks are everywhere, dangerous because of trucks and traffic right in front.
- Lesli (10/5): - What a great little local hotel!! The restaurant next door was outstanding! And packed every night!
- Davis (10/5): Hidden Gem in Mita - Great location in the heart of Punta de Mita.. Very near many great restaurants and vendors. The location is fantastic if you like to surf and eat great food. the view is awesome, and it has its own beach. Great pool and super friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.
- Andrea (10/5): - Beautiful view, location on a private beach near restaurant, I would say room is comfortable and spacious too
- Verified traveler (8/5): We'll be back!! - Although our stay was short - one night - it was a pleasant first time introduction to Punta Mita and it's charm. We loved the Meson de Mita for it's central location - right on it's own private beach and a pool to relax by. The staff was very comforting and hospitable - they gave us great recommendations on restaurants and helped with anything we needed. Our only complaint was the room smell - it had a very strong oder of insecticide - which made for a less than comfortable night's sleep - and gave the sence that there was an insect problem previously... The room was clean but not clean smelling.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - My credit card was billed twice in an obvious error. Hotel management refused to cooperate or even communicate with me. This hotel has a history of ripping people off by billing there card after they leave. BEWARE
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location right in town and on the beach. Easy to walk around. Plenty of restaurants and a convenience store nearby. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and accommodating. Most of my interactions were with Fernanda at the front desk. She was incredibly helpful and help with my transportation back to PV. I would definitely stay here again
- Kelly (10/5): Our yearly get away - We LOVE Hotel Meson de Mita! The staff are amazing from Sophia who takes care of every need during the day to Arturo who keeps everything safe overnight. The overall friendly and super clean environment has us returning every year.
- Patricia (8/5): - Simple, local, convenient hotel. I guess that the main attraction to stay here is location if you are a surfer. The hotel is at the beach, but it is a tiny beach. If you are not a surfer, the beach is small and has a lot of rocks, you can walk to the Anclote beach in front of the condos but it is small.
The pool is nice and the staff is friendly. The hotel is super clean, the rooms, the pool area, everywhere.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant managed by them but there is one restaurant right there that serves lunch and diner. There is also a coffeee shop steps away that carries some breakfast options.
The price to stay at this hotel is very convenient but you don't get to see the real nice beaches with the splendid sunset that you only get to see from the St Regis or the Four Seasons.
If you are staying at Meson the Mita, you may want to spend the USD$85 for the day pass at the St regis and explore the beaches at the Golf Club next door which have amazing sunset views.
- John (10/5): Great Value and Beautiful - While the rooms themselves are nothing special they are more than adequate especially for the low price, I love this little hotel hidden on the beach in El Anclote. The grounds are beautiful and my room had shaded hammocks just outside. The staff is extremely friendly as are most everyone you will meet. A/C and TV worked but only Spanish language stations, but who cares, you will only be in the room to rest. Nice little pool. The rest
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great pool and wonderful view. Enjoyed our stay very much!
- Sharon (8/5): - Small boutique hotel with hitel style rooms. Nice garden areas for conversation and a beach front pool. Close to restaurants
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Next to the beach and the center of the food district by the beach. Perfect location.
- Patti (10/5): - Great place to stay. No frill rooms as none had views of the ocean but that was offset by the hotel being right on the beach. Food and drinks a little pricey but were top notch
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The only suggestion would be to add a couple Dish TV "English" channels. Most were American channels/movies, but with subtitles.
- JN (10/5): - Caring staff. Hammocks, Oceanside Loungers. Beside the most fantastic coffee shop. Right on the front street close to all the places we needed to be.
- Shaun (8/5): My stay at hotel Meson de Mita - It was nice and cozy.well maintained. On a cute street with many amenities to choose from.
- Steve (10/5): - I have stayed several times and my room has been consistently clean as well as the pool area. Always nice, helpful staff. Only wished there was a small coffee maker in the room or lobby offer coffee.
- Cynthia (8/5): Very cute - Very cute place right next to the beach and also next to a restaurant on the beach
- Rhiarose (10/5): - Helps to have a pool to dip in to stay cool in their warm climate. Staff was very friendly. They allowed us to use staff fridge to chill some beer and milk and let us use their electric kettle to make coffee in the morning!
- Celine (8/5): Nice hotel at a great price! - This hotel is very well situated. Walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. It is also right by the beach.
The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Before our arrival, I had sent an email requesting information on ways to get to the hotel from the Puerto Vallarta airport. I couldn't have asked for a better response with detailed information about different options. If you are thinking of taking a taxi to the hotel, walk out of the airport and over the pietonal brigde to the other side. Instead of paying $110 U.S. for a taxi, we got one for $40 U.S. ($700 pesos). You can also take the local bus to the hotel for about $30 pesos each.
The hotel room was basic but very clean. If you need access to a fridge, the staff will kindly let you use the one they have for employees.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location staff variation in types of rooms, pool location
- D&S (8/5): - Well kept property. Rooms are clean. Grounds and pool area very well-kept. Close to restaurants. Downside is that the beach in front is very rocky and not easily swimable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and pleasant staff. Nice sitting areas outside each room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice area convient to immentities, on the beach, nice pool area,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place is a great place that is in the center of town
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel was clean, safe. Staff was very nice.
View and pool were nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Charming Local Hotel -next to Si Senor Restaurant that is one of the best in Punta .Mita for local food and on the Bay---It is not the 4 seasons or the St Regis, but you are also not paying $850 per night. Staff is helpful- Bathrooms are very small. Everything works(Air conditioner, TV etc) There is a small safe in the closet for valuables.
Thanks to Gabby and Monica
- Cynthia (8/5): - Cute and right on the beach. Even nicer than I thought it'd be
- MARIA DEL R (8/5): Nice place - Quiet, clean, i like it
- Kim (10/5): - Hotel Meson de Mita was a bright, little gem. My daughter and I enjoyed the atmosphere, staff, and location. Being steps to a colorful pool and a little beach were great. Surfboard rentals, the surf break, good food and drinks, and the marina for outings to the Marietas Islands were also right outside the door.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Bumpy start, but smoothed out nicely. - We had a wonderful stay. We got off to a bumpy start, but Gaby saw that things were smoothed out nicely. Many thanks.
- LB (8/5): - Tidy hotel that was close to the beach with a nice small pool. The AC worked well. The rooms were well cleaned daily. It is basic with a great location. We met other nice guests from the US and from Mexico.
- Kristin (10/5): - Cute hotel right on the beach. Couldn’t ask for more for the price. Great sandy beach just to the left within walking distance. Just need to rent an umbrella for shade and you are set. Husband and son surfed there too. Good food close too
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The maids do a nice job but the mattresses are really really firm and no blankets just the bed spread
- Steve (8/5): Tranquillo - First time stay and found it quite relaxing. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room location was way too noisy. You could hear everyone’s conversations on the outside.
- brennen (10/5): Location!
We enjoyed the pool everyday - Pool, grounds, Beach access and proximity to the best restaurants in town was amazing. For a short trip no car needed Just ask around and in five minutes you can be fishing, surfing, or boating to see whales!! Everyone was very very nice
- Roland (6/5): Accomodating staff but place needs some renos - Overall the hotel was a great place to stay for 3 nights. Great location - close to all the restraunts. Always able to get a chair at the pool or on the beach. Staff was very accomodating and helpful. Moved us to a better room when there were issues with our exisiting room. However the rooms do need to be upgraded since they are getting a little outdated and worn out. Some plumbing and sink issues.
Also they should look at moving the massage tables since it was loud from the kitchen staff when we were getting our massages.
We would stay there again next time in Punta Mita. It is a great economical place to stay in Punta Mita.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place
Great location
Great crew
Very clean
Good price
- Marie (8/5): Peaceful, very agreeable and restful. - Safe, cosy ,authentic Mexican small hotel. Right on the beach. Quiet, clean. Good v Alice for money. Close to nice restaurants and shops. Situated in a small fishing village.
- John (10/5): Great hotel for the price - I highly recommend this place if you want to stay in Punta de Mita and not spend a lot of money. It is located on the beach, though the pool and Si Senor restaurant obstruct the view. The rooms are quite nice for the price, and the beds are comfortable. The staff is very helpful.
- Carlos (8/5): Great Place - It's a great little hotel, nothing fancy but very clean. Staff is very friendly and location is great! The restaurant right by the hotel is a must go.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Wifi is room and a small kitchen - No wifi in room. We work remote so it was a problem. Online it said there is wifi in the room. Also, there was not even the smallest kitchen to make some coffe in the room or even a sandwich. For 60$ a night I expect just these two things.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible. I see why it's so cheap - Hotel pics make it look so nice but it's basically a trailer park. Rooms, my god, ghetto. Bathrooms, ghetto. Staff was the worst ever. God forbid they get off their phones to order you a cab. The restaurant attached is wonderful, but stay st the Cinco instead.
- PSM (10/5): Great find! - Rick Steves would love this place. A real gem for bilingual and experienced travelers.
- Dianna (6/5): Budget in Punta Mita - IF you are staying at the Meson de Mita it's because you don't want to pay what the market is asking for good accomodation in the area. It's a basic, budget hotel. Our room was not clean but it was on the large size. The bed was surprisingly soft for Mexico. And yes, it is on the ocean BUT it's right next to the marina so on the beach you have guys cleaning fish and the smell that comes along with it. They had paddleboards and my husband took one out which was great. The pool itself is nice but a row of palms in front means you can't really enjoy an ocean view and I felt that took away from the charm I was anticipating from an ocean-front location. Coffee shops are right outside and they serve excellent lattes or whatever suits your fancy and helps you greet the morning. The restaurant on site (Si Senior) is ridiculously over priced - again, it's Punta Mita so that's what you can expect. We won't stay here again. During our two week trip we explored the Costelegra and stayed at six different hotels in the same price range - Meson de Mita was our second least favourite.
- Okanaganasia (6/5): Central location - We spent 4 nights at the hotel. We had to move rooms as our original one had a sewer smell. the accommodation was adequate. We had a rental car so found it close to areas that we wanted to explore. There is a restaurant on sight but not owned by the hotel. Food was outstanding but pricier than we like to pay.
- Rafael (8/5): Cozy hotel in a beautiful beach - We went to Punta Mita to spend the day and night there. We were very impressed w/the hotel overall specially the swimming pool right in front of the beach! There are 2 downfalls to note:No breakfast(it should be included as it is a fairly remote area)and beach is very rocky which makes it unfeasible for swimming☹️In spite of these minor setbacks I will return for sure!
