Facilities closed internally, parking is a block away in red light district and valet not an option during stay - comped parking, still had to drag luggage down a block and through a dodgy carpark, carpets inside rooms are literally pub level filth, king studio suite has two different rooms- one is what is advertised online, the other is a standard room with a tiny half couch crowded into corner of room, they will try to convince you this is the same room, the reservations team will not price match and will advise you to book through booking.com, housekeeping made my bed literally the way that my 8yr old son makes his-blankets thrown crookedly over the bed - not an over exaggeration, no cleaning had been completed inside the room, dirty cups and plates left on bench tops, dirty towels left hanging on back of chair etc, toiletries not replaced during stay, advised reception staff with photos for evidence, apology received offered to have housekeeping come and clean room at 6pm, I did it myself just to not have to deal with the stress of waiting and awkwardness of watching someone clean the room while I stand there. I will now happily pay hundreds more to stay elsewhere simply to avoid the stress and disappointment of this trainwreck.
- SUSAN (9/5): Fabulous stay. Well worth the money! - Reception lady was fabulous. Very quiet and comfortable room. Breakfast was great. Large range of food. The first thing I saw when I got into my room was how dirty the carpet was. It was so unfortunate as the rest of the room was perfect. Obviously people dropped tea or coffee on the carpet as the tea/coffee making facilities are there. I’d put some wood there or carpet that’s a very dark colour.

- Leila (8/5): First trip to Adelaide went really well and the hotel was lovely in a fantastic location - Room and ensuite were both large and well appointed. The location was great. Our stay was for a registry office wedding and we were walking distance from the wedding and the restaurant everyone gathered in afterwards. We also walked to cbd shopping centres and did some fun shopping around events. Basically walking distance to all good cbd places including great cafes so we didn’t bother with the buffet breakfast. Nothing to complaint about- staff were all lovely

- chrisrI6041FV (6/5): Decent Stay with Minor Drawbacks - The hotel offered a fairly average experience with a mix of positives and a few issues. The room was clean enough and comfortable, though some areas felt slightly outdated. Staff were polite, but service was not always consistent and sometimes a bit slow. The location was convenient and made getting around easy. The stay was fine overall, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
- Barbara (6/5): Fantastic position but not 5 star - It’s so handy to the train station and the mall. Lots of little things. We were told the minibar was complimentary which was a nice thought however once the 1 beer and 1 cider and 2 kitkats and 1 packet of chips were eaten they were not replenished over the 4 nights we stayed. Water was replenished until the 3rd day which was fine as we had our bottles and filled from tap. On arrival the toilet seat was extremely loose (surely when housekeeping clean they noticed it moved as they wiped - or did they clean?). It was fixed day 3. One light in bathroom didn’t work - fixed 3rd day. Safe never worked and they said it was broken! The pillow cases and sheets didn’t fit properly on the pillows or bed. Our coffee cups weren’t cleaned one day. The bin was emptied in the bathroom another day and then left in two pieces on the floor with no bin liner. The toilet brush was rusted and not pretty to look at. The carpets in the hall and outside the lifts I don’t think got vacuumed at all in 5 days. There was pieces of rubbish that were there from day one and still there when we left. The rooftop bar was closed on Mother’s Day (Sunday) yet the hours state open on sundays. I left an empty sinus sachet in the shower (I forgot and normally put in bin) and after the room was cleaned it was still scrunched up sitting in water on the shelf. So not only was the shelf not cleaned but the water was just sitting there. The hand lotion on the sink was nearly empty (or blocked pump) so I left it open so they knew to refill - they didn’t. Just screwed the lid back on! As I said it was lots of little things and for a supposedly 5 star hotel (my husband kept telling me it was 3 stars) it was a bit tired. Friends we were down visiting all kept saying it used to be luxurious but I never would say that. I think they need to really look at cleanliness more thoroughly and upkeep of each of the rooms. Even the dining room chairs were a bit dirty with stains on some.

Being on Adelaide's party strip, early morning Walk was an adventure. Parking just down the street smells like a toilet and can be a bit difficult to get in and out of. Nit picking here.

- Andrew (6/5): Disappointing stay at the Mayfair for our Anniversary. - We had two coffees at The Den. They took 20 mins to arrive and when they did they overly milky and barely warm. We had a couple of sips and then just walked out. Whilst we were waiting for the coffees l noticed how dirty the surface of a glass cabinet was. Possibly some kind of bay marine. Check it out for yourself lm sure it will be like that on Monday. Staff were polite and friendly. Something has to be wrong when the highlight of the evening was to spend time at Hennessey's only to find out that it had closed at 10pm....on a Saturday night due to being quiet l was told by reception. Sol and other roof top bars that we visited that night were packed.

But this time was not favourable , we got to our room late after the footy game , found we didn’t have a remote control for tv , couldn’t turn it on . Staff came up with a remote control, but couldn’t get the tv to work , tried for3/4 hour , by this time it was 12.20 pm , really wanted to go to bed . They then suggested we could didn’t need the tv to work . We asked for a new room, they reluctantly obliged . By this time it’s 1 am , we hop into bed and the mattress was disgusting , it sagged in the middle of the, not comfortable . So wont be staying there again. The staff member on duty did try his best , unfortunately it fell short .

- Kiwi-1976 (6/5): Last days of an icon - This is a beautiful historic hotel but right now it's in the last days before it will be taken over by Kimpton and rebranded, so it is a little sad. Yes it is looking a little tired so the rebrand will help it. I have stayed here a few times before and it was a bit sad to see the hotel less busy and breakfast super quiet (choices felt a bit lackluster too). Staff still tried their best, especially the woman bringing over room service (arancini and fries, both yummy) but it does feel like the last days of a waning icon.

We had a lovely sitting room on entry to our room, absolutely no wifi access there, only main bedroom had internet access.
