Guest Reviews
- Yonas (8/5): - good
- Toufik (10/5): - Chambre propre, personnel serviable
- Claudia (6/5): - The staff was pretty friendly and willing to help but the rooms are terrible, limited space, limited towels, my room kept setting the alarm on all night, the laundry room was unavailable, I wouldn’t recommend it for big groups, it’s a 15 minute walk to the train station so it’s convenient if you have an early morning train but the walk feels a little unsafe, full of intoxicated people. Overall, for the price we paid we could’ve stayed somewhere better
- UZAIR (10/5): - Amazing value for money, clean spacious dorm room and super clean bathroom
- Johnatan (2/5): - Ikke komfortabel og ikke avslappende
- Jennifer (6/5): - The room was very warm and had little air circulation. There was also a persistent bad odor in the bathroom.
- Sam (6/5): - I was a chill hostel, nice balcony. Feel that the social areas could of been better
- Verified traveler (8/5): Porte bonheur insha'Allah !
Arrangeants.
- Theodore (8/5): - Great place, lockers were kinda loud but great restaurants and bars around
- Marlon (10/5): - Close to everything in the city
- Nadia (10/5): - Qualité
- Laydiane (10/5): - Muy bueno
- Amber (10/5): Great hostel - The staff on the desk where brilliant. Hostel has free microwave and kettle you can use and it pretty close to everything including the centeral station.
O site so descontou 50%.
- Uba (10/5): - Great location. Walking distance to almost all the tourists places except the atomium. Metro station just by corner & just one stop to the Brussels Midi/zuid station. Everything was on point as shown on the pictures. I have recommended some of my friends already.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- FUNG KWAN (10/5): - 方便
- Patty (10/5): Super kitoko - Merveilleux
- Shuai (8/5): - its an average place to stay
- carlota sofia (2/5): oh no - not a good place for female solo travellers
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Place was clean and staff was friendly. Looked and felt as though it was a hotel with shared rooms.
- Chere (6/5): Unclear reservation details - I stay at hostels occasionally when I travel but I always book a single room, much to my surprise I was booked into a 4 bed (bunk bed) room and had to crawl up a ladder to sleep on the top bunk. I’m 66 with a bad knee but I made it. My confirmation said it was against the rules for guests over 40 to share dormitory space so I assumed I had the room to myself.
- Firdaus (10/5): - Guess the summer weather is in full force and was finding it difficult to sleep
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent hostel, medicore location - The hostel is about 10-15 minute walk from the train station but note that the roads are cobbled/uneven so it is difficult to roll the suitcases so would recommend taking a cab. The area is not that great as we did not feel comfortable walking outside at night. There are many men sitting outside the cafes and stores around the corner.
We got a private room with 2 bunk beds. Overall, the room was clean and staff was friendly but there were a couple of nuances. There is only one light in the middle of the room and it is not that bright so it is hard to read things on the beds. The mattresses on the bottom bunk are a bit lower than the bed frame so have to be careful when sitting down. It was a bit hard to climb up and down from the top bunk, the bottom step is too high from the floor. The days we were there were extremely hot but there was no air conditioner or fan to use. However, there is a little yard where people can sit outside which is slightly cooler. There is also space in the lobby to eat and do work. The hostel sells bottled water which is very convenient.
If we visit Brussels again, we would choose other hotels/hostels closer to the city center and in a better neighborhood.
- Dason (6/5): - The surrounding area is noisy with the traffic and the bar patrons making noise until late at night. Without air conditioner, the noise is rather loud at night
- Aaron (8/5): - Location great, staff fantastic, room clean. Can be a little noisy at night with rooms over the courtyard
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to metro station, city center, early check in.
- Solo (6/5): - The hostel is close to the train station which is good. However, it can be quite noisy with traffic. The room is nice but no air flow so keeping the balcony door open but then dealing with the traffic noise - trade off. They have a policy about quiet after 10pm however two guests in my 4 room rocked up super late (one at 2am) -- not exactly considerate. No towels provided either so make sure to bring own. The wifi in the rooms is spotty too.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Had to rent towels! - You had to pay extra to use towels, which is ridiculous. The rooms smelled and our sheets were dirty.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice, clean place with kind staff for a hostel. Free towels would be a nice touch.
Hairdryer socket cover needs attention in room 408.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - modern and clean hotel but issues with hot water in bathroom (only lukewarm which was not fun in the middle of winter)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. But windows and walls so thin could hear people from next door/corridor and noise from street
- Valerie (8/5): - the hotel is pretty clean and new. very close to the Brussels Midi train station. Not too close to city center, but I was able to walk one day I was not in a rush.
- Muhammad Rizwan (8/5): Good choice - A good choice to spend a night to sleep!!!!
- Nagesh (10/5): Excellent accommodation at the centre of the city - If you are visiting Bruxelles would strongly recommend this place. It’s close by to everything and you can save on public transport. Quite a few traditional restaurants within walkable distance.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Place at a Good Price - Good, clean rooms with shower and toilette in the shared, 4-person, mixed room that I stayed in. Wifi is good in the lobby/kitchen/patio areas but was somewhat sporadic above the second floor.
- John (10/5): - The best hotel lever
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Wouldn’t recommend this place. Was placed in wrong room. Power went out the whole day without prior notice. Hear nothing from staff. Sheets aren’t the cleanest
- Stephanie (10/5): Very economical option - Very pleasant
- Elliott (8/5): Good value - Pretty good hostel! At first I thought it was in a dodgy area, but it's actually pretty safe. There are a LOT of broken windows around the shops there, but I didn't have any issues with anyone during my 4 day stay. The hostel has 4 kittens, so bring your allergy medication if needed, they only hang around the lobby area. The staff was pretty great, some of them don't speak english very well, but they do their best to help with any issues.
- Charleeey (10/5): Lovely - probably one of the cleanist hostels we have been to on our travels. the rooms were nice and spacious, with a washroom with shower for the room. staff were very nice and helped answer all our questions. held onto our bags even after check out so we didnt have to carry them aroud for the next five hours. if i was ever in the area.. would definitely stay again:)
- Monisha (10/5): Good location, comfortable stay! - Good location, comfortable stay!
- Avalon (4/5): Boring hostel... - The whole vibe of this hostel is there is no vibe. There is no bar or cool communal space. I reported that I couldn't lock my cage under the bed on the first day and the guy on the desk said they would send someone up and no one ever came so my belongings were not locked up for the 3 days I was there. The room was really hot and stuffy as there was no air flow. REALLY uncomfortable beds and a very hot room so I had terrible night's sleeps every night and I am usually an excellent sleeper.
I'd never go back, worst hostel I've ever stayed in sorry.
- jen (6/5): close to the metro and midi station - The hotel is quite hard to find despite using the google map if you are not familiar with the place. It is not an ideal place for solo lady traveller at night as the street are quite sketchy with men smoking cannabis. However its very close to the metro and if you know your way its approx 20-25 min walk to the midi station. The plus side is you can store your luggage free of charge and also close the the mannequin pis which is approx 30 mins walk.
- Leeanne (8/5): - Hotel was nice, but beds very uncomfortable and rooms very hot but overall okay the hotel was in good condition but just lacked a few things some staff were very slow to serve you
- Ming Fai (8/5): Hostel is good - Also being robbed when I walked back from the city square to the hostel. The Main Street to hostel is full of spacious people after 6pm.
Other than that, the the hostel is good and the chilling area is remarkable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hostel itself and its facilities are very nice, however there is no air circulation in the rooms. While I know the weather was uncharacteristicly warm during my stay, the rooms were absolutely sweltering. The window opens but there was no breeze and roughly 30 degree celcius so it was very difficult to sleep.
One thing to keep in mind if you're not a hostel regular is that while a bathroom in the room sounds luxurious, it's a bit of a nuisance. Your roommates can hear all your business and you have usually have the entire room fighting for the shower at the same time in the morning. It's ideal if hostels also have bathroom facilities for the floor so there are options in case there is a queue in your room.
Otherwise the service was great with checkin and out being particularly smooth.
- Oskar (10/5): Very good hostel - even though it's inexpensive! - The Hostel is placed well, close to Brussels-Midi and few minutes of walk from most central Brussels.
Staff was friendly, Wi-fi worked great, clean rooms, and great price!
- FFA (6/5): it ok and safe but.. - This hostel is one of the best hostel in the city however you have to expect any kind of people..
- Kalayapas Lee (6/5): not in a good neighbourhood - The hotel is closed to the metro station, but NOT in a decent surrounding neighbourhood, especially during the night. not recommend for woman who travels solo. not good option for people with the heavy luggauge as you had to climb up from the metro station to get to the hotel. the room is too dark and tiny to fit for 4 ppl. but overall the room is clean and staff are alright
- anon (8/5): Awesome staff!!! - The staff here were fantastic! They were very helpful with any questions- they even gave excellent recommendations for places to eat and drink Belgian-style. The staff at BRXXL5 were friendly and would go over and above to ensure you felt welcome and comfortable as their guest. The rooms were fairly comfortable, however, dimly lit. Large bathroom and plenty of space to put your belongings in the private room. An unexpected amenity was the smart tv in the room! Very nice touch.
Walking to the city centre didn't take much time at all- perhaps 10-12 minute walk. The area where the hostel was located was definitely not touristy at all. As a solo female traveler, I don't think I would walk around this area after dark, but that being said, I never felt unsafe in this area.
Thanks to the super-friendly and helpful staff here, I had a great time in Brussels. Would definitely recommend this place!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Near to Station, Clean - The room light is too weak, not recommend for reading or surfing the net
The room is clean and essential facilities are well prepared
- Rubiah (10/5): Friendly and helpful staffs - The male staff that is bald and usually doing the night shift was a great help and is ever so friendly towards me. This credit should go to him. It's won't be a great hotel if it weren't for him.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good and worthy - My friends and I booked 4 ppl private room. It was very a nice and clean room. The neighborhood is ok, and the location is good. 10 mins walk to the center, 5 mins to the gare du midi. Staff there was very friendly. The kettles were not that clean tho, others were great. Recommend for a budget traveler.
- Nevins (8/5): Good for value. - The shower temperature can't be changed. Drop my earphone to the side of the bed, had to struggled really hard to get it out because underneath the bed are the compartments for you to lock your belongings, which are so tight that once you drop your stuff towards the side of the bed you have almost 0 chance of getting it out. Bed weren't the most comfy but for the value it's really good. Limited lighting in the room too.
- Moon (4/5): Sketchy area and strange guests. Look elsewhere - Facility here is great. Conveniently located, budget friendly. However, this area and main clienteles are not the regular Hostel guests you'd see elsewhere. It's mostly older people, sketchy looking people, and immigrants. Good luck getting service from the main desk.
- JIHYUN (6/5): - the electronic power plug next to the beds are not working. room light is too dark. bed is too small and no guard rail.
- Tiffany (10/5): Amazing Hostel - Super clean, modern hostel... literally the nicest hostel that I've ever stayed in! The shower was big by European standards, included hair and body was as well. Only 2 Euros to rent a lock for the in room lockers which are huge. Common area was very nice and they even had a pet bunny that hopped around outside, so cute!!! Also, the staff is very nice and helpful. Highest recommendations for this place
- Shu-Yu (10/5): - Staff are nice and the environment is perfect.
- solo female (8/5): Nice location and accomodating staff - Very nice location. Only 1 stop from midi station and 2/3 stops to grand place. It is situated in an area mostly with arab looks(not being racist or what, just describing) restaurants on one street end mostly male customers but they'd do no harm and won't bother you as for my experience. Staff are accomodating and nice they let me stay even after I checked out whilst waiting for my bus departure. I had the private room all to myself, quite spacious toilet and room itself is clean. Only thing is that some smell is coming from toilet(probably the sink) but just close the toilet door and it'll go away. They might have to check the pipes or what. Most importantly, wifi has fast and strong connection (stayed in a room on the 5th flr). Can recommend to everyone looking for a hassle free stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For a hostel it was really nice. Plenty of storage space and luggage locker under bed. Clean and friendly and close to everything.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Loud alarms :/ - The room was decent, the neighborhood was okay. I really liked this hostel except for the deal breaker....the alarms! All night long! This hostel has the system where a key card must be in the wall at all times for the electricity to work. This is fine, until your roommate takes your card, or the neighbors can´t figure out theirs, or you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and can´t turn on the light. I woke up many times to the alarms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean ans Simple Hostel - Simple but modern and clean hostel. Not a party vibe, which is absolutely fine by me. The neighborhood itself was walkable to many sites but itself was a little shabby. Walkable from the Midi train station makes it super accessible from the airport
- Jorge (8/5): Nice hotel close to Metro station - Easy check in and out. Nice and quite, clean rooms. Great location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Hotel, good location - Nice location, within walking distance of the south station.
- Joseph (6/5): Good location messy room. - Room hadnt been cleaned when we got there.
We left our stuff asked for the room to be cleaned and left to explore. Wen we got back the food we had left had been binned.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location, new hotel - Contemporary decor, looks pretty new. It is quite simple but definitely recommended
- Jason (10/5): Great Hostel - This Hostel was very nice and great staff to and would 100% be back here the Neighbourhood not so good but if your a guy you will be okay but not for women on their own!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel - Very clean good price nice staff close to train station and city centre!
- shahbazali4u (10/5): Excellent and Safe Location - I am a low-budget student traveler. I stayed for a night in Dec 2015. It was Shared Dormitory (1 Bed in a 4 Bed Mixed Dorm), and I shared the room with a very well educated, mannered and kind French Gentleman.
- patty (10/5): Nice hotel - It was very close to midi.
The hotel is cleany and excellent position.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Even though there was a terrorist threat in Brussels I felt very safe in the hostel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Pricey for what it is - Wouldn't recomend. They charge extra for credit card. Bad part of town.
- Jennifer (8/5): Good for the money...wouldn't do it again though - This hotel was fairly clean. My friend found a hair on her blanket, but the reception quickly switched it out for her. The room for the three of us was really small as expected for the price. However, everything else appeared to be clean. The location wasn't that bad in reference to all the sights. However, the neighborhood was sketchy. I would not recommend the hotel because of the neighborhood. In fact, I just recently booked again for a trip to Brussels and looked at the map to avoid this area before booking. The reception was very accommodating in that they allowed us to check out a little late since I was sick most of the night and didn't sleep much with all the noise in the hallway.
- Not Provided (8/5): Good Hotel. Will prefer to stay in it again - Shady neighborhood. But location from nearest tram station is excellent. Went out of their way to help me keep our luggage after checkout. Keep tea coffee maker in the rooms. Rest is good.
- Thamaru (8/5): Recommended - The room is very nice, comfortable bed's, clean bathroom
- Raul (4/5): Strange experience - Felt more like a homeless shelter. Staff was not very friendly. People staying their were very shady.
- Hassane (6/5): - Quality / price is ok
- Ahmad Fazril (6/5): Value for money private room - Location wasn't bad, 15 minute walk to Grand Place. Rooms were nice enough and the water pressure for the shower brilliant. Only downsides were the tv wasn't working, the toilet smelled abit and pillows were flimsy. But for the price would definitely stay here again.
- Nina (10/5): Nice hostel for good price - Really nice hostel, bathroom better than in most hotels
- Luke (8/5): Great value for money! - Stayed here whilst interrailing, this is a new hostel est 2013. About 15min walk to the grand palace. Clean, contemporary and reasonably priced.
- Ka Yan (4/5): It is a okay hostel. - Spent one night in this hostel. It is quite new and has nice deco. The staff who assisted us with checkin is not friendly but the other guy who help us to check out is very friendly and cheerful. We booked a private room and it is of decent size. We got room 507 The only thing is when we get to the room there is a strong sewage smell from the toilet. Since it is mid-night already we did not bother to ask them to change the room.
- stephen (10/5): Stay there . - i'm 58 and used this place as a stop off before travelling on . I can't fault this place at all .
