We chose this for the more traditional feel - tatami mats and low table/chairs in the room were great. The room felt clean and included hairdryer and fridge. The room had a private bathroom, but it was very dated and small.

Habitació amb un sanitari i una pica, però no pas amb dutxa. Fantàsticament ubicat a tocar del ferri. Personal amable i ascensor disponible. El bany traficional comunitari disponible, és un element agradable i curiós per fer servir. S'hauria de poder incloure l'esmorzar en el moment de la reserva, donat que potser quan arribes, et diuen que ja tenen ple, i t'has de buscar la vida per esmorzar.

• Julie (9/5): Excellent value for a traditional hotel in a wonderful position - A beautiful traditional hotel in the most wonderful location. Basic but very clean traditional rooms of a very good size. The bathroom was basic but perfectly usable and an additional, larger bathroom was available on the corridor. The staff were very friendly and helpful (including the beautiful big white cat that would sit on the reception chair) The location could not be better, a short walk from the ferry terminal and another short walk in the other direction for shops, cafes and bars as well as all of the major sights. Excellent value for money. Wish we could have stayed longer. The bar/cafe and restaurant were not open whilst we were there.

La habitación impecable y con todas las necesidades cubiertas. El hotel está ubicado a apenas 5 minutos de la estación de Ferry en una dirección y en la contraria al torii flotante y el santuario de Itsukushima, con numerosos restaurantes cercanos (por la noche la mayoría cierran pero el personal del hotel te recomendará varios para la cena). Si tienes el sueño ligero, las habitaciones de estilo tradicional tienen las paredes algo finas, pero es algo habitual en cualquier hotel de este estilo.

• Stewart (9/5): Excellent location on a beautiful island! - This hotel is in an amazing spot, a few minutes from ferry and another few minutes walk to shops, cafes and restaurants! Staff were very helpful and assisted with luggage storage. Room was basic but was clean with everything we needed. Floors accessible by lift which was great with our luggage. Good value for money and would definitely stay longer if we visit again. Lovely hotel in a wonderful spot in Japan!

Bedroom section was large with a decent size cupboard and the view was lovely. Quiet stay. Sleeping on futons (on the floor) was not comfortable for us. • Carol (10/5): Great stay on beautiful island - Short, flat walk to ferry station. Great location on the main promenade. Easy to walk to all the sights. We had mountain view room at top of building on the side and could see the beach and tori gate from the window. Staff very helpful when we were trying to find a restaurant for evening meal. All good but just an observation that the bathroom was very small compared to size of room. Fully functional, however, and additional sink outside of bathroom also made it easier so perfectly manageable.

Die Lage ist fantastisch und wir würden gerne noch Zusatzpunkte dafür vergeben. Die Aussicht aus unserem Zimmer war sehr schön. Miyajima ist wunderschön und wir wären gerne noch länger geblieben. Ein bisschen mehr "Küchenausstattung" wäre schön, da man sich in der Regel ja selbst um das Frühstück kümmern muss

• LizMWM (10/5): The friendliest staff and great location - The location of this hotel is fantastic, just a couple of minutes from the ferry on the waterfront. Staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly. Can't comment on the onsen because I didn't use it Elevator doesn't go all the way to the top, you have to walk if your on 5fh floor. Luckily I left my luggage in Hiroshima. Pillows aren't the most comfortable
• Emily (9/5): Perfect Stay - Perfect location, close to the ferry terminal and all the shops/restaurants. Great value for money. Kind staff, quaint traditional rooms, beautiful view out the window. Some of the local stray cats come and sleep in the lobby at night, so great for cat people like me - they are so cute! Staff will keep your luggage for you after check out, so you can enjoy the town more easily before departure. Nothing! I love this hotel and look forward to my next stay.

• Brian (6/5): We booked in for 3 nights and left after one, not the hotels fault but my back and hips. - The hotel was well positioned and although a little dated it was ok. I did not like the Japanese style bed, but you need to know I’m in my 60’s so perhaps 10 years ago it would have been fine.

• Chiara (8/5): Consigliato ! - Ci è piaciuta la comodissima posizione e al tempo stesso la silenziosità . Abbiamo apprezzato le dimensioni della camera. Comodi letti . Struttura molto pulita . Ci siamo fermati solo una notte e in questo senso ( soggiorni molto brevi ) lo consigliamo assolutamente. Avremmo preferito essere avvisati del fatto che la camera era al quinto piano e senza vista , mentre l ascensore arriva solo fino al quarto: non abbiamo di fatto problemi , ma avremmo semplicemente ridotto le aspettative . Il bagno è piccolissimo ( comunque funzionale ) . Peccato non poter far colazione in struttura .

On our first day of check-in, the lady at the desk did not speak English well and told us there was no private shower. But when it was almost time to go home, we found on the fourth floor. There is a private shower and we were very upset we hadn’t used it. We are too embarrassed to use the onsen.

• Katha (6/5): Kein WiFi Empgang. Schöne Lage. - Tolle Lage (allerdings gibt es auf der Insel kein Hotel mit schlechter Lage) Wir hatten während des gesamten Aufenthaltes kein bis kaum WiFi Empfang. Weder im Zimmer noch im Empfangsbereich. Das Personal schien dies nicht zu interessieren. Die Antwort war: Mal gibt es WiFi und mal nicht. Also keine Empfehlung falls man WiFi haben will. Ansonsten sind die Zimmer schön schlicht traditionell gehalten. Die „Betten“ allerdings sehr hart.
• Giovanna Paninforni (9/5): Stunning waterfront views! - Loved this ryokan, great location and amazing staff. The room we got was a Japanese style with tatami, futon beds and yukatas. It was a great experience! Also used the onsen at 8pm at night it was empty for a while, such a dream! Very close to the ferry terminal, the temple and tori in the sea, and 15 mins walk to the ropeway which we did in the morning at opening (9am - recommended for no queue and stunning views of the island). There's deers everywhere on the island it's so pretty! Thanks Sakuraya for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable! The only thing to notice is that rooms on the 2nd floor facing the street/waterfront can hear the hotel main front door opening and closing. It's an old automatic door that makes a very loud noise when opening closing. Not a big issue but maybe something to work on 😊 bathroom was very small but we knew that!

Whereas online reviews said it is possible to arrange a small breakfast, it was not possible after all - and very difficult to find anything to eat in town on Wednesday morning when the regular places are closed as well.

• Marco (10/5): Perfect stay with family - The staff was kind and nice. The hotel as an onsen inside and the rooms were clean and well equipped. The view from the room was nice and relaxing. Nothing about the property. Anyway, if you stay in Miyajima remember to reserve the restaurant for dinner in advance !
• ベガシ (10/5): 満足 - 受付のスタッフが(他のホテルよりも)丁寧に祝初施設の説明をしてくれました。又、希望ならば延長高度の貸し出しもしてくれるのは助かります。施設自体は比較的静かです。浴場もあるので、わざわざ部屋でお風呂を沸かさずに済むのもいい。観光目的の厳島神社も歩いてすぐなのでとてもいいです。参拝するなら朝早く行かないと並ぶかもしれません。 BOOKING.COMだけで調べると、お風呂が部屋にしかないのかと勘違いしてしまいます。実際そうでした。朝食も前日に予約さえすれば簡易的な朝食が500円で頂けることも、このサイトの説明で書いていただけると助かります。

• Natalia (10/5): - Great room, real ryokan. Even though my room didn't have a private bathroom (which I knew about) we could use a shower room on the fourth floor which was cery clean and comfy. Our room had a toilet. The staff was very helpful. We could leave our luggage and Explore Mount Misen.
• Janette (8/5): Make sure you get a sea view room - We had 2 rooms - one with a sea view which was fantastic and a single room with a Mountain View which wasn’t . Definitely pay the extra 2nd room was cheaper Beach nearby but considered disrespectful to swim there.

• Andy (7/5): Location is great but a bit pricy for the basic lodgings - Large room with the futon beds made up when we arrived. Great location just off the ferry and on way to the main village and attractions. Japanese bath was nice - only open 3.00-11.00pm Hotel interior is dated. didn't really get any communication with operators. While we didn't book a room with breakfast we were not given the option at any point, and the one cafe that was recommended for breakfast did not open, so would have had an in house breakfast if we knew that was an option. We had rear mountain view room however windows are frosted and the view is just a hillside at the back.
