Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - convenient location to the night bazaar and street market however the room couldve used some cleaning on the walls. Our room had a big stain on the wall that wouldn’t come off as well as stains on the counter shelf. Enjoyed the daily water bottle, coffee and snacks refills left on the door.
- Chan (10/5): - Room is beyond our expectations.
- Rachai (10/5): - Friendly and helpful reception with laundromat 20 Bahts per load and (take a longer time than usual) dryers costing 1 Baht per minute. Within walk distance to Night Bazaar
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Chiang Rai Hotel is inexpensive, clean, professional, well-situated. I come here every year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Emplacement idéal. Difficile d’avoir mieux pour le prix.
- Wesley (8/5): - Great location. Nice facilities and services
- Olav (10/5): - Helt greit
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location - Old and also a hostile. Very good location, a mini-mart in the hotel. Bed and shower were fine. The place is fine but it is old and bit loud but maybe it was a China thing.
Definitely a great location if you are in CR for a night.
- Christopher (10/5): Great price for a satisfying stay - Great budget option right in the middle of Chiang Rai. In sight of the Clock Tower, and walking distance to the bazaar, the saturday night market, or the bars on skid row. Staff were always friendly and helpful in our limited interactions. Room was a little old, but everything was clean and in good working order. Beds were moderate, in terms of comfort; a little short for a tall guy. Overall, very satisfied with this establishment.
- Frans (8/5): good location - Comfortable and clean enough for the price. Good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location and beside in clock tower , can easily find restaurant!
- Glenn (8/5): Good discount hotel, no problems - You get what you pay for, a discount hotel.
Location is great. Free water bottle/snack daily.
Only downside is WiFi was nonexistent in my hotel room, but worked great from the lobby. Would go again for a place to stay a night or two cheaply.

- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Ah (8/5): - Environment not bad. Could be here again nect time
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The entrance of my first room is too narrow , difficult for me to go in, which is located next to the staircase. Later i was moved to a small room. Anyhow it is strategically located.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- NIK NOR AZMAN (8/5): No frills hotel close to major tourist attractions - Basic old hotel commensurate with the price. No lift, make sure request for a lower floors if you have health problems. Most of the rooms do not facing the roads, so the it’s quiet. The biggest points are that the hotel is close to major tourist attractions, clock tower, wet markets, night market & walking market (weekends). Will choose this hotel again in future trips.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - centrally located, large room, but no fridge, floor surface clean but of varying colours making it look dirty; restaurant not open
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Barry (10/5): - Hotel staff friendly, spoke and understood English, acommodation basic but comfortable. For me value for money.
(8/5): - Not bad hotel. Very good location and the staff was very friendly.
- Kathy (6/5): Convenient - Close to Clock Tower section, can walk to Night Market, many shops and eateries. Basic amenities, nothing fancy,
- Nee (4/5): Close to the market.. - First day when i was arrived check in there have 1 staff working in the reception. He not smile and not give me information about the room he just give me the key the room on the second floor, no ask me for helping bring the luggage up. The room not so nice but is ok with the price, the bathroom drain blocked a lot of insect inside. However is fine i like, because it is close to the market and night Bazaar.
- Ross (6/5): - The hotel was clean and staff friendly. The main drawback was there was no fridge in the room, so we could not keep any food or drinks cold. Otherwise everything was okay.
- John (10/5): Chiang Rai Hotel - We stayed 5 nights with the intention of exploring the area (Golden Triangle, Opium Museum, Blue Temple, White Temple, Royal Villa and the Kannon Temple). Basic lodging, good AC, clean room and cable TV. Centrally located, within walking distance of the Saturday Night Market, Night Bazaar, Thai street food and plenty of western food alternatives. Plenty of value for your $$
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great safe place - Another great little hotel found on Expedia. Safe, clean and right downtown. Perfect for what I wanted.
- Caroline (6/5): Good value, clean, friendly, but incredibly noisy - Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, very clean, free WiFi, kettle, hair dryer, free water daily, also provided shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. Convenient location, close to many attractions and restaurants. Adequate water pressure and hot water (electric shower). Bicycles for rent, & self-service laundry on site. Good value for money.
Cons: Noise - sadly this has to do with building design and cannot be easily solved. This is the reason we did not give a higher score. The walls are paper thin - you can hear even normal conversations in the next room, plus the TV as if it were in the same room. The noise echoes up from the ground floor if people are talking (not even talking loudly). Noise from the road also can be heard in rooms at the back of the hotel (but not as loud as in the front). The stone floors and open-air atrium design amplify even normal noise levels. We are used to urban budget hotels, but this was the most intrusive noise we have ever experienced. It's unfortunate, as apart from this it would have been a very pleasant stay. Other minor issues: no soap next to the sink (only the shower gel in the shower), and a rather mildewed shower curtain (but nice to have a shower curtain in this price range, vs a wet bathroom).
Comments: No lift/elevator, not a problem for us, but worth mentioning. I believe they also have ground floor rooms though. Thin plastic 'accordion' door to bathroom offers little privacy.
- YT (6/5): Comfortable Stay and Breakfast is ok - The location of the hotel is considered acceptable. However the hotel has no lift. Also the shower heater was not hot enough and it was during winter/cold weather. No fridge locker safe in the hotel room. It was very very old the hotel and need a facelift or renovation to catch up with modern time.
- TLP (10/5): Good location & value for your money - Hotel employees are very nice and location is near the produce market, the Saturday walking street market & the clock tower. The hotel is also walking distance to the night bazaar & main bus station. Breakfast is ok. Good value for your money!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent location - Great place to stay in a local style building. The surrounding streets have a few convenience stores if required (and quite a few stationary stores too, if that's your thing). Within walking distance of many local markets (not just the tourist ones) and temples. Staff are very helpful.
Chiang Rai is a breath of fresh air if you're coming from Bangkok or other cities. It has changed a lot in the last 10 years, but still has a relaxed and friendly vibe. You can easily avoid tourists in this town and have a great time.
- ray (6/5): Good value - Room pretty basic but clean, ideal for short stays but not long term , no fridge , cable tv all channels in Thai , but if your only there for a few days you don’t need any of that as your out all day anyway. I always look for location close to bars and restaurants and this fits the bill
Staff very pleasant and helpful , would stay again
- Phil (8/5): good for air breathers - Non Smoking Hotel. just knowing that there will be no foul, stinking, headache causing smoke around me is a great comfort. hot water and air conditioning, and friendly staff too. right in the center of everything. and, the price was good.
- John (10/5): Easy access, - Right in the city, within walking distance to night market and restaurant.
- Holly (10/5): Great location - Simple but clean rooms - the price justifys what you get. Fresh bedding everyday with complimentary tea, coffee and snacks. Free shower gel and shampoo in bathrooms. Great location. We rented bikes through the hotel for 50 baht per day.
- Walter (6/5): Simole and comfy - Hotel was ok, I just needed a place to sleep and shower. Location is great, you can walk to everywhere around, bars, restaurants and temples near by.
- Ruttikan (10/5): Good time in Chiang Rai - Every thing is okay;D
- mike (6/5): Good for a quick stay - Nice location, air conditioning worked well. Laundry facilities and warm showers, staff spoke very little English but for the purpose of a quick stop over and we already had a plan it was a perfect fit.
- Ian (6/5): Hotel in Heart of Chiang Rai - The Room I had was small but adequate... Air conditioner was really appreciated, the Wifi was good and a TV provided... The staff were friendly but struggled to understand anything except Thai... Which could become a frustration in communication, if your Thai is inadequate to get by
My room wasn't cleaned or made up with fresh towels, water and bed linen for the last three days of my stay... despite leaving the request tag on the door handle.
- Thai hols (8/5): Great location, and choice for Chiang Rai - The hotel is well located, easy to find as between the 2 clocktowers. In a great location for exploring on foot. The room was clean, bed very large and the air con worked very well. There was a lack of English speaking staff on reception but this did not prove to be a problem and they were good at ordering taxis etc.
I would stay in the hotel again.
- tobin (8/5): Quiet and reasonable - quiet stay, helpful staff and watched bag overnight. no frills, basic accomodation for price and location very central. good local street market a block away. recommended for price.
- steve (8/5): Ok hotel close attractions. - A good Hotel close to clock tower, night bazaar and good restaurants. A couple of drawbacks no elevator ( but doorman very helpful in luggage transfer ) and breakfast for westerners a bit lacking.
- jason (8/5): 8 months travelling through Asia. - The biggest bed ever, very clean and super location. Only slight disappointment was a little noisy at night with inconsiderate folk banging doors.
- Patryk (8/5): cheap hotel in a good price - Very cheap hotel in the city centre close to everything.
- Hoo (8/5): Nice and easy convenience hotel - Fast and efficient check in and check out process. Friendly staff and all facilities in good conditions .Convenient to get a transport like meter taxi or Tuk Tuk to any tourist attractions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and clean hotel - We were able to check in early which was very nice! Staff was very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi worked well. Would definitely recommend staying here.
- Michael (8/5): Nice, clean, quiet, good location - Very nice hotel with a clean, industrial look close to the Clock Tower. Nice staff and a good, if somewhat expensive, restaurant. Quiet.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Run down, dirty not friendly hotel - No hot water at all! No spare blankets or sheets replacement.
- TATSURO (4/5): Just OK for a shot stay - Convenient but room was not clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff, but dirty towels.
- murphybennett (4/5): borderline average - adequate but not good
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonable price hotel for comfort sleep - Good comfort and location
- Michael (8/5): Spartan, but clean and roomy - This hotel is centrally located a half block from the clock tower in the center of town. The rooms are very basic, but clean and spacious. This hotel worked well for our family, with five people in two rooms.
- Marbel (8/5): Excellent location - This is a good hotel because of the location. Like 5 min in taxi from the bus station and 15 min from airport. We came to Chiang Rai only for the White temple and this was like 25 min away. The staff very helpful, quite hotel, clean and great location
- Chun Chiaw Hong (8/5): - Ok , generally good. bathroom spacious, room spacious. no complain.
It a small town with simple amenities. could not stay longer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice location - Very close to Clock Tower and the day market. Night bazaar, which is close to the bus station, is about a 5 minute walk.
- Adrian (8/5): Great value Hotel - One of the best value hotels I've ever stayed in. Great staff, big enough room, everything worked, even the free wi-fi worked properly, was clean, great location and breakfast included. For this price you won't do better.
- Tony (6/5): Good location but that's all. - Hotel advertised breakfast which consisted of Nescafe and a chocolate biscuit. Found another hotel cheaper with fruit, bread, spreads and butter for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, Big rooms and clean. - This is a budjet hotel so no big frills but it comes with breakfast, has a laundrymat, A computer for guest. Nescafe in the room. Also, they will print your boarding pass for free. They have a scale for your luggage. Many more things that I forgot. Very friendly staff, front desk speak english.
The room are very spacious and have a lots a light. one of the best budjet hotel I have seen in Years.
- Marjorie (10/5): Simple but perfect - Simple but perfect hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel, pretty well situated. Staff try hard. - Did our own laundry on hotel. Staff made it easy. Decent food. Quiet. In range of good restaurants. Good place to regroup.
- shaun (6/5): Sanctuary - Great place to crash after spending a weekend in Hill Tribe villages
- Djunaedi (8/5): Great hotel for the price - righrt in the middle of the town....walk to night market and flower garden
- Teo (8/5): Good Location hotel in Chiangrai - This is an old hotel strategically located at the centre of Chiangrai. It is less than step to the tower clock of Chiangrai so as to the market. It was renovated and very clean although the building is a bit old and no lift, you have to walk up using stair case. Overall I like it.
The staffs are very friendly and nice.
- Lorraine (6/5): Basic but comfortable - You get what you pay for.Small basic room but clean.Right in the center of town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Safe, cosy and conveniently located budget hotel - Spent 6 days chilling out here and was glad to have picked it.
Walked the nearby streets to explore and take photographs and it was perfect because it was located in a very vibrant 'hood.
Morning, day and night, there is some kind of market activity going on nearby. On Saturdays, there is the m e g a Night Market with very diverse goods. You'll be in the hub of agrarian culture and commerce.
- traveller (8/5): Great location - Excellent location, very clean, comfortable bed, though the rest of the furniture is spartan
- Daniel (8/5): Great location and price. - Excellent location! Excellent value!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Stay here short term. - It's good for staying a day. Nothing around the area. I went to only see the white temple, the long neck ladies, black temple and singha park. The staff were helpful. The food at the restaurant next door is pretty good.
Room is what you expect for the price. They put us on the 4 th floor which kinda sucked because they didn't have an elevator and we had a lot of luggage.
They have motorbikes to rent if you want to ride around.
There was ants that appeared out of nowhere.
- Maria (8/5): The room has a good size an d it was very clean. - It was very nice except breakfast could be better. Fruits and cereal could be added to it.
- Alfonz (8/5): Fair price for service - Ants in rooms and prison like hallway, there was a lot of noise from hallway throughout the evening/night.TV has only 3 or 4 english speaking channels, most of them are in Thai
- Mary (8/5): Good location - Good budget hotel with spacious 6ft beds. We booked 3 rooms and were allocated to 3rd Floor, only setback is there is no elevator. so for guests who have climbing difficulties, do request for 1st floor rooms early.Hot shower, air conditioning, free snacks, coffee and water is inclusive. Pleasant hotel staff who provided us with an ice bucket when we requested for ice and a phone cable charger. Near to food eateries and night market. The clock tower is nearby.
- Savannah (8/5): - Good location near the clock tower. The room was good for the price. Hot shower, air conditioning, free snacks, coffee and water, and the best free breakfast at any hotel I've stayed in Asia.
- John (8/5): Comfortable hotel close to central bus hub - Helpful staff, good tour information from reception. Walking distance of centre with numerous Wat Saturday evening market in Walking Street close by
- Jim (8/5): Modern clean hotel in the town centre - Stayed here a few times. Good value for money. Nice clean rooms with some foreign TV channels.
Location is excellent
- Brenda (4/5): Good for a night or two, price was right. - Just down the road from the main street. Not too far from the night market and bus station, we walked to both. Pleasant hotel staff arranged for our tour and was accommodating when we asked for ice.
- Steve (6/5): Good for the price, in the middle of town. - Centrally located (100m from the Clock tower in the middle of town),
Clean and tidy with pleasant staff.
Our 3 night stay was good. Keep in mind there is no elevator.
Night market 10 mins walk. "Morning" market, which goes all day, 150 mtrs.
Breakfast simple but satisfactory.
Would we stay again? Yes.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, simple and spacious. - Good budget hotel with spacious simple rooms. Ours included a king bed, full wall shelf and nicely tiled bathroom with a shower. Everything was very clean.
The breakfast buffet was great. Although there were some language struggles later when both my vegetarian requests (first for mushrooms then tofu) were delivered full of chicken. Beyond meat-free struggles the hotel was perfect.
- Ben (8/5): Good stay - Firstly, don't be daunted by the fact it looks like a prison inside - it is a very lovely place to stay. Ideally located about five-seven minutes from town. Anyone arriving by bus should exit the terminal and then turn right, keep walking up the road until you see the clock tower on your left, head towards it and you will see a sign for the hotel which is on your right hand side.
Room is clean and comfortable, bathroom is OK, water pressure not magnificent, but at least it is hot.
Staff are very helpful, speak good English and can assist with all your needs.
Breakfast is really good, huge spread served each morning in the restaurant
- Benjamin (10/5): Good - Great hotel if you're out I'm a Chiang Rai. Everything was nice and clean and the stuff was friendly, with ample power sockets for electronics. Would definitely stay again if I was in a Chiang Rai.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great location and very clean. staffs were kind and helpful.
