- Andrew (9/5): On the whole a pleasant stay - Our room with a balcony was amazing. Lovely view. Shower really good. Bed very comfortable. Room very spacious. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. We ate at the hotel once and it was very disappointing. The menu was limited and there was no atmosphere but the food was nice enough. The lift wasn’t for the faint hearted. We had to pay £10 a night for parking. We felt that, as residents, this was not appropriate. The hotel was located on a steep hill.

- Richard (7/5): Pleasant and very handy for Bowness itself. - Nice breakfast, bit busy but that’s just the way it was. Perhaps there could have been more staff around to help people to find a seat. Upon arrival, had to pay £10 for car park then receptionist was eager to put £50 on my card as a ‘holding deposit.’ Whilst I accept this policy, it wasn’t the friendliest welcome after a two-hour drive and it just felt like we were there to ‘pay out’ rather than being valued as guests.

- shauner (6/5): I would stay again but would request an upper floor room without a wet room. If I had been staying longer I would have r - Central location , nice breakfast and employees. The room was downstairs at the bottom of the first floor stairs which meant anytime guests came in we could hear everything. Was woken numerous times due to loud guests until early hours. The bathroom was a wet room. The shower wasn’t the best and you couldn’t turn the heat up without the power of the shower increasing which resulted in most of the bathroom being drenched. Parking was also an issue. Although not controlled by the hotel the app wouldn’t allow you to extend your car parking and could only book1 day max. The hotel have assured me they will deal with the fine if we get one.

Needs attention for the price paid - The view from our bedroom and breakfast Our upgraded Biskey room (105) was tired, walls were scuffed with piant peeling on the feature wall. Photo on the website only a 'representation' of this type of room, so the actual room was not was expected. Carpets stained with seams coming undone. Shortage of staff and atmosphere. restaurant only available to book in advance .Water in the room only provided on first day. Placement of furniture needs some changes as tricky for drying hair near a mirror. 'Health club' facilities limited ( small pool, jacuzzi and relaxation room) charged at £25 per couple. Parking a nightmare. Guests not guaranteed a space as it is used for public paid parking and guests have to take pot luck for parking. Plus each day guests have to log into the app and pay each day, unable to book for our 4 day stay.

Breakfast was buffet style, with everything one could possibly want - excellent The hotel was located up a very steep hill, which we did not expect - difficult for over 80’s.! For a four-star hotel I would normally expect little “extras”, e.g. shower cap, body lotion, etc. We thought the room layout was strange. The TV was positioned above the foot of the bed, blocking the light from the window and view. A booklet showing places of local interest, nearby restaurants, etc would have been helpful.

The hotel has turned the car park into public parking so we arrived with a baby and weren’t able to park despite parking being advertised - the parking has surge pricing so it is more expensive when busier! The whole hotel felt like a money grabbing scheme. We were then told by a staff member whilst there with a crying baby ‘if you turned up to sainsburys and there was no parking would you complain?’. Also, the room we were given was completely not child friendly, up a narrow staircase with no lift. We have stayed at the hotel 5 times and will not be returning again.

The Breakfast was buffet but food was very good and staff were very helpful, room was adequate for a short stay, there was a charge for parking at the hotel and no discount for residents, where other hotels don't charge for parking. The lifts have a lot to be desired, very rattle and creaky not for the faint hearted :-)

- Tracey (5/5): It was OK for a last minute booking. - Comfy bed, clean room/bathroom, really good shower, staff very nice. Breakfast yogurt very nice. No view at all from room 212 (brick wall), hallway near lifts smelt awful (old damp smell), wall in lift lobby needed painting in parts, lift was rickety and noisey when in use and glass/mirror panels looked dirty/smeared glass. Cooked beakfast was really nice but wasn't hot enough which let it down. Parking should be included in price as daily rate not cheap.

- Andrew (9/5): Great place to explore Windermere - Stayed here many times. Right in the centre of Bowness. Nice bar and breakfast The room I was initially given was up some narrow stairs and away from reception. I asked for it to be changed and the staff were very accommodating

They have recently outsourced the carparking, and we had a problem with the system texting us telling us that our time had run out at 15 minutes to midnight on the second night. The duty manager assures me that I would not be charged extra or receive a Fine. Apparently the system has been in for 4 weeks,and they're having teething problems. We didn't realise at the time of booking, that there were charges for using the Spa facilities. Around £12.50 each for 2 hours.

The hotel was advertising a lunch menu, only to find this didn’t exist and the new owners were just looking to see if customers would want it. It was very misleading.

For example woudl be good to have fresh baked bread that wasn’t “cheap sliced” with preserves . Eggs options - omelette and boiled eggs . Wasn’t bad but wasn’t the best . It would elevate the breakfast

- Jordan (6/5): Disappointing return visit — tired, noisy suite with maintenance issues and poor value for money. - Great staff, great location, good breakfast. We’ve stayed at the Ro several times over the past 4 years and this time we noticed that the hotel was becoming increasingly run down, externally and internally. We booked the suite and its location within the hotel meant it was very noisy on a morning with other guests passing by. The bathroom door stuck when opening, the toilet roll holder was badly placed and caused injury to both me and wife. Overall, disappointed and wouldn’t consider the suite value for money and most likely won’t return to The Ro. We even extended our stay in Bowness and decided to book elsewhere.

- Damian (6/5): Ok, staff great. Probably won’t stay again. - Good location. Fred on reception was a great asset. Staff very friendly. Seemed to be all about getting money up front. Booked a massage which was great but you had to pay on top to use the pool. Had to pay for parking even though we were guests. Needs redecorating in the areas away from the main reception and dining areas. We stayed in the Tower room. Nice room but one of the blinds needed fixing (falling apart) should be spot in for their best room.
- Helen (7/5): Ideal location if you are mobile, very attentive staff and clean - Staff were excellent, very central and plenty parking. Great view from our room Breakfast was nice Wellness centre was disappointing with a tiny pool and small jacuzzi - don’t waste your money paying for it. Window was small in the room. If you had walking difficulties it is situated on a hill.

- Bates (9/5): - The room waa clean and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was superb.sitting on the terrace enjoying drinks while watching the sun go down was a fantastic experience. Also a great idea providing free drinks in exchange for not servicing the room to be more energy efficieny, was a nice touch. Room was a little small.

- James (10/5): - Location was amazing, room was tidy, comfy, had great amenities and the view of the lake was something else! Breakfast the next morning was delicious and all the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Will be staying again.
- Shaneel (6/5): Great place and stuff but could be better. - The location and the room was stunning, the views were amazing and we had a great time. Main thing is that you have to pay for everything, parking, umbrellas, gym and swimming pool which is crazy to think considering the fact we are staying at the hotel for more then two nights (gym was £15 per person and so was the pool). What we had to complain about, bare in mind I am someone that hates complaining is the cleaning services, our dirty wine classes weren’t removed, they only provide water on the first night and no other night and our bed sheets weren’t changed for us (even though we only asked for the room to be cleaned on the second day). Such a great place, let down by charging for everything and the cleaning services.

- Jeremy (6/5): Disappointing , expected better - It was OK, reception area was fine, plenty of space in the Bar area and outside decking, Breakfast was OK, Just cant say I was overly impressed, given what I was expecting and the amount paid for two nights... Room was extremely small and not good value for the money we paid, window could barely lift open, and had to prop it open to stop it dropping down, we were located on the 3rd floor which was difficult to access, via several narrow staircases. Bathroom wasnt too bad, but overall the room wasn't great. Tean and Coffee facilities were basic, and only one bottle of water, any other bottles required were charged at £2.50? Car parking was a nightmare on Saturday arrival as it is used by the Public as well.. had to pay for parking , which again it an annoyance when you are actually stayting at the Hotel and paid for rooms.

- Bryan (7/5): Unsatisfactory stay, but great location - Excellent location with lake view. Expensive for what you get. Rooms are spacious, but dated (squeaky floor, clogged shower, broken heating). You pay the room, everything else is paid extra (parking, welness, ...) Unsatisfactory breakfast, I expected much more, too little continental options, juices sucked. Got through the day on chocolate breads.
