- DawnMaupin (6/5): Ok for 1 night - We stayed one night here due to flight a cancellation. The bungalow was ok for that, but I would not have been happy here for any longer. In general, the property is fairly rundown. There is much that could be improved here. We had no hot water and the smoke detector in the room was disassembled and laying in a cabinet. The toilet paper was on the counter (no roller in the holder) There was also no access to coffee in the morning. We had a small coffee pot in our room, but coming from the airport, we had no coffee to use. The beach bar was nice & the beers were cold!
- vacayplanner3 (10/5): Gorgeous, very chill beach - The beach at Bungalows on the Bay is serene and uncrowded.❄️, and palm trees provide shade. There‘s no food available at the bar, and the bartender plays music you may or may not like, but the setting is tranquil and beautiful. We‘re very glad we decided to come here today. 😊
- 787elainej (6/5): Negatives outweigh the positives. - First, the positives. The beach at Bungalows by the Bay is great - one of our favorites on St Croix! And the beach bar makes great drinks and plays good music! The pool is also nice, although it was being refilled for the first 3 days of our time there. Second, the negatives. We were assigned Unit #1. Nice location in the resort but this unit needs some “love”. The furniture is old and peeling. Many drawer knobs were loose or pulled off. I thought each bungalow had a kitchenette. This unit only had a sink, refrigerator and a microwave. No cooktop (even though there was a frying pan!). No forks or spoons, just a few knives. And no coffee pot, even though there were parts of one in the cupboards. It was difficult to conceive of making a meal there other than something cold. The hair dryer was broken. No toiletries (soap, shampoo, or conditioner) were provided. The website says there is place to check for things like that but we could never find it. The office appeared closed all the time during our stay. All correspondence was via text or email. I am not saying this situation is the same in other units, but if you are assigned Unit #1, beware! So if you are there for the beach, Bungalows by the Bay is great. Accommodations not so much.
- LucyLouTX (2/5): Stay AWAY - Do not book this place! It seems the property sold a few years ago, new owners had great plans for the future, but it appears they have abandoned their ideas and the entire property. There is no one onsite to assist, no restaurant, very little maintenance. The unit we stayed in was so outdated, old dirty furniture, cabinet knobs missing, closet door missing, cracks in the bath tub, electrical outlets that didn’t work, leaky front porch ceiling. We had one worn beach towel, bath towels were so worn one ripped with first use, absolutely no kitchen towels. Grounds are not cared for, grass is overgrown, it’s trashy looking. Pool area was a total disaster, beach chairs were chained down. We found other island accommodations and left after 2 nights. So very disappointing, this could be a great place but needs so so much work.
- BankerBoy101 (10/5): Unforgettable Island Vibes at Bungalows on the Bay - We just spent a week at Bungalows on the Bay and it was one of the most memorable Caribbean trips we’ve had. This is not a cookie-cutter resort — it’s a place with real character, amazing people, and a vibe that makes you feel like you’re part of the island. The setting is incredible: quiet beachfront with plenty of space to relax, swim, and snorkel. We loved using the paddle boards and kayaks, and every evening brought a new sunset ritual that made the whole stay feel magical. Live music most nights set the perfect island tone, and the on-site food truck served up surprisingly great meals at fair prices. Our room was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed — a kitchenette, TV, and WiFi (though honestly, we hardly touched it — this is the place to unplug and enjoy rum by the beach). Driving around the island was a fun adventure in itself, with local rules that took a moment to adjust to but made it all part of the experience. Renting a car and having it delivered was seamless and gave us easy access to nearby resorts, restaurants, and downtown Christiansted. Take the snorkel tour to Buck Island and hike to the top! Well worth the adventure. Local tips: Go to the local Costco equivalent and stock up on some groceries and keep your small fridge stocked with bevs and snacks. Tour the island and see what it has to offer. Visit the restaurants downtown and walk the dock. Check out the rum distilleries and Mutiny spirits too! Beer drinking pigs in the rainforest and walk the beaches... If you come expecting a perfectly polished luxury resort, this isn’t it — and that’s the beauty of it. Bungalows on the Bay is laid-back, authentic, and unforgettable. Come with an open mind, soak up the vibe, and you’ll leave feeling like you’ve discovered one of St. Croix’s true hidden gems.
- matthew (4/5): - Property was a good price, but then the hot water didn't work, the shower didn't work. Decking was kinda falling apart. Bath towel was askew when I arrived, take that for what it is. Management was unavailable at check in 3 pm and in the morning when trying to work out the water 8 am. I left a day early, hopefully the will use the money they didn't refund me to fix the shower, and a few other things.

- Nananddoug (6/5): Kind of sketchy bungalows - The Bungalows on the Bay has a beautiful setting. Standing at the bottom of the property by the parking lot, look up the hill to the charming colorful bungalows dotting the hillside. The scene is cute and quaint. The nearby beach is sandy and stretches up around the cove. The water is calm and warm, and the sea grasses attract starfish and turtles. The Bungalows does offer water toys: stand-up paddleboards, ocean kayaks, sunfishes and we did see a trampoline bouncy thing in the water for the kids to jump on and off. The bar is what you should expect in the islands. Quite laid back with a handful of island regulars, an overworked bartender and live music every night. Generally speaking, the music would end at a reasonable hour, so that was fun and some of the talent was quite good. Unfortunately, there really isn’t a restaurant on premises. There is a food truck with a teenage cook who can make three things. Philly steak tacos. Philly steak quesadillas. Or Philly steak nachos. They were actually pretty tasty, but it was an extremely limited menu. There was no breakfast and no coffee. We arrived late on a Saturday and we all had received messages regarding which bungalow we all belonged to and that the keys were inside. There were ten of us in six bungalows. Management had left for the evening. There was an emergency number posted on the office door, but calling or texting the number did not always result in a response. All the bungalows are different. Some have two beds, some have one bed, some have kitchenettes, some have bathtubs, some have showers. Some bungalows had bug problems with wasps or roaches or centipedes. Our bungalow was a single king bed with a shower. The location was right outside the pool and then out to the ocean. Nice. Inside the room was small with furniture that did not fit the space. There were two nightstands, but only one working lamp with a dim bulb. No way to read at night. The TV did not work. The kitchen consisted of a refrigerator, a coffee pot, a toaster and a microwave. There was a whole drawer of pots and pans, but no way to use them. We discovered a lack of what I would consider essential items. No dish soap or sponge or kitchen towels. One small roll of paper towels. We had butter knives, steak knives and a set of salad forks, but no spoons or forks. There was one juice glass and one tall glass. The bathroom did not come with soap either. A previous guest left some shampoo behind. There was only one set of bath towels and no beach towels. There was a half roll of toilet tissue and no refill. There was no one on property to address this and so we went shopping and stocked our own room. The lack of consistency with the on-property staff continued throughout the week but to be fair, sometimes problems were dealt with quickly. One more thing about the Bungalows is the pool. It is a nice pool with some loungers, but the water itself is scary. It is so cloudy you cannot see your feet when standing in the water. I lost a bracelet and dove down several times to feel along the bottom of the pool trying to locate it. I didn’t find it, but I did bring up two plastic cups from the bottom. If what you are looking for is an inexpensive, bare bones kind of place to stay, this could be your ticket. But, if you are more used to hotels with amenities and service, pass The Bungalows on the Bay by.

Restaurant advertised on website was apparently torn down months ago but still waiting for a permit to rebuild. Food truck offers tacos at night, no breakfast or lunch. On-site bar caters to locals who come for live music. No housekeeping during your stay so you have to beg for clean towels via text or pilfer from empty bungalows). Cooktop in room but no pots /pans. Microwave sitting on top of cooktop (dangerous). Coffee pot but no coffee or filters. Sink was stopped up (we removed some debris but there was more we couldn’t get to.) Never found anyone in the office during the week. Hair dryer plug had melted from fire (a replacement left outside our room 2 days after requesting). Hair products & body wash appeared to be left by previous guests. Beds were fairly comfortable but a centipede crawled into mine and stung me on day 5. You are expected to empty your own trash and wash any dishes before you leave, or pay a surcharge. Thankfully the ceiling fan, AC and fridge worked. Owner appears to be refurbing slowly (a rotted deck on one of the empty bungalows was replaced while we were there) but it’s going to take a while.

Check in was a little confusing as no staff members on site as all communication is via text. And if you are planning on cooking only had 1 tiny pot available. Overall had an amazing stay and plan on returning!

- naleneh2018 (2/5): Depressing - My husband and I have stayed here multiple times since 2001 and while we love the location due to the great snorkeling opportunities, sadly, the property has deteriorated to the point we would not stay here again. Apparently the new owners have decided to sell the existing lots while also trying to generate revenue through rentals and the outcome just isn’t working. It is time for the Bungalows on the Bay to close for much needed maintenance before continuing to operate the way they are. The air conditioning unit didn’t work in our first bungalow so we were moved. The deck in our second bungalow was rotted and a true safety hazard in addition to the railing no longer being attached due to rot. The refrigerator was rusted, the kitchen sink leaked all over the floor, and the bathroom shower head barely was usable. Wasps had made nests all around the outside of the unit. The cleanliness of the unit was depressing, as we ended up washing the dishes already there and looking at dusty window blinds that have been neglected for some time. Check-in was rather unpleasant as it seemed we were bothering the staff for checking in. Nothing was provided regarding directions to our bungalow, information about activity rentals, or information on the bar and food amenities. The only reason we give this a one star is due to the snorkeling location. Sadly, these need a drastic refresh before continuing operation. Regrettably we will no longer be staying here.

There was no one at the office when we arrived, when we did find someone after walking around for 20 minutes.She said, what do you need?And we explained to her that we were there to Check-in.She really said come. We checked into the room only to find that the headboard on the bed was broken.The walls were scratched up.There were bugs everywhere the stairs. Walking up to the bungalow were brought it in falling apart.There were bugs crawling underneath the door there were packages the fridge was rusted and leaking and I wouldn't put anything in it. It was barely running water in the kitchen at sink. The bathroom sink was obviously never cleaned from the previous customers because they were still toothpaste marks around the sink. All of the previous customer shower supplies were still in the bathroom. After we checked in, we attempted to get a couple of drinks at the bar.There was no menu there was no sign where to do.When you got there, we started at the table and ended up deciding.I guess we have to walk up to the bar to get something to drink. Drinks were o k where gender drink the liberty to make a special strawberry drink. There was a woman changing a poopy diaper on one of the tables near the restaurant. The "beach" was infested with fleas and we are being eaten alive and was covered. With seaweed so even if we wanted to go into the water we would have had a wade through ten feet of seaweed. Room was clean. We had everything we needed. Plenty of towels and eating utensils. Oh and that air conditioner is cold. Ocean view. Staff is amazing! Only thing we can’t give a 10 on is water pressure in the shower. But it worked and if you wait just a minute it will heat up and there is plenty of hot water. Oh and we never seen one bug in our room. Now that is pretty great considering you are on an island. A few mothers earlier we visited the island for the first time. We stayed close by at a very expensive resort. That experience was a 6 at best. Drinks are cold at the bar and food is pretty good.After staying here at Bungalows on the Bay we won’t stay anywhere else. Keep up the great work on the property and please don’t lose your amazing customer service.

- KC63087 (10/5): Perfect for us, does need some updates - We just left yesterday after a 7 night stay. We absolutely loved it! It does need some updating, which they are working on. So as long as you are not looking for perfect, luxurious rooms, this is a great place. We stayed in Bungalow 49, had the most gorgeous, oceanfront view. The staff was very very friendly. The bar was well stocked and had live entertainment and karaoke several nights. The beach is very clean. We did not use the pool but it was cleaned every morning. The small kitchen was so great to have. We did cook breakfast several times, all cooking necessities are included. And it was nice to have a fridge for drinks and food. We did not try the food truck food available, but saw several people enjoying it. We left everyday to explore so we did not spend much time there. The location was perfect for this too, very easy to get to Christiansted and only 35ish minutes to Frederiksted. Overall the bungalow was very clean, the grounds were beautifully kept, and exactly what we needed. Our only complaint is the shared bungalows are not sound proof at all. Hopefully that will be considered when upgrading the rooms. There were 2 girls that were next door to us, they woke us up once very late at night and twice very early morning screaming at each other. We ended up telling the staff and were asked if we wanted to change rooms, which we did not because of our view(and the hassle of packing everything up). When we arrived back that evening, they had made the girls move rooms. We were very thankful they had taken care of the issue! We definitely recommend staying here if you are not looking for luxury, but something that will meet all your needs, and only anticipate things getting even better as the upgrades are completed. Thank you for helping make our first trip to St. Croix a wonderful one!

Staff was accommodating. Getting a ride anywhere was a nightmare! So plan for that! Dont stay here if you’re not expecting a quiet, island-feel that is peaceful & cozy. The resort pets were also a plus!

- Katrina Denise Love (8/5): - This property was perfect for my solo vacation. I really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it to others. The property is right on the water and you have plenty of beach to walk. If you are looking for time to yourself you are able to walk a small distance and feel like you are on a private beach. Be aware that some of the units are connected to others, I ended up in one of those and wasn't expecting to be stuck with neighbors sharing a wall. This was a problem for part of my stay as the people on the other side were very loud. It is more like a vacation rental than a hotel/motel, so you may want to bring things like handsoap and dish soap. Also the internet for the TV was very unreliable. None of the negatives outweighed the positives for me though. Overall, I really enjoyed staying here and would definitely come back.
- Stephanie (10/5): - If you are looking for low key and laid back, this is the place for you! The bungalows need some work on the outside, but perfectly clean inside. The beach is nice and relaxing. Bartenders at their bar were all very nice. There’s also TD the dog and Sugar the cat (the bar cat, there are several up by the office.) One downside was that our safe wasn’t operable and they could not fix it. Also, while there was a coffeemaker, there were no filters or coffee which we had to buy. They are remodeling, so I expect our next stay will be even better! Its less than 15 min by car to Christiansted which has great shops and such si perfectly placed location too!

If you want to get away and chill-lax and enjoy that vibe this is the place. I am surprised the property hasn't been bought out by investors as it could use some upgrades and TLC. I did see an investment opportunity to invest into an individual bungalow which peaked my interest. Definitely coming again to enjoy this slice of paradise

The place is undoing a renovation so there are things that need to be repaired and updated but you can tell they are really working hard to update the place. This renovation did not interfere with our enjoyment of the place. We look forward to returning next winter and seeing the updated facility.

- mrsdrj (10/5): We pick this place every time because of the location - Our family of three stayed in adjoining bungalows 47 and 48. The rooms were clean and the porches were a great place to start our mornings and watch the sunset. When we visit St. Croix, we are in the water for most of our trip, so we really just need a place to sleep. We were happy they had a refrigerator and used both of them. We didn't cook, but used some of the dishes for cereal and sandwiches. One bathroom looked newer than the other, I think they are constantly remodeling something. They offer a lot of amenities that we didn't use because we were busy exploring the island. We chose this place because of it's location. It is right on the beach. We can grab our masks and be in the water in two minutes. The water in the bay is calm and there are beautiful fish to see. There isn't a lot of coral formations, but we saw a turtle and an eel, and plenty of beautiful fish. I took one of the kayaks out and it was a peaceful way to spend the morning. We love that it's close to Christiansted, but still feels isolated. There were several occasions where we were the only people on the beach, which is exactly what we were looking for.

I rated it 4 of 5 because I can see the potential as long as you know what you’re in for…by no means does the resort look like the outdated photos but still a charming place. The service at the bar excellent, enjoyed talking with Sam nightly, sometimes daily, she’s always there. Currently no restaurant on property not even a BBQ available. We did prepare meals in our kitchen. Pool in ok shape, not many loungers by pool or beach as pictures show, but the beach a serene area, may be best on the island. If you go in expecting high end, you’ll be disappointed. Stay there with open mind and nobody said it’s the Ritz either. Sunsets and views are gorgeous

Vegetation too high to see the ocean at the pool, also no tables or chairs to sit at by the pool. They had 7 lounges to lay in, new. Pool needed work. The bathroom for the bar was in disrepair but in all fairness when we were leaving I saw workers working on it. Beach was clean and the bar was fully stocked and very friendly. We would rate our bungalow #24 a 3 out of 5. We saw the potential but they need better transparency.

- johnbs2024 (2/5): Bad experience at Bungalows on the Bay - This was one of the worst vacation experiences of my life. Cockroaches in the kitchen area, bathroom and closet. We had some kind of bug crawl into a glass on the counter. The bed sheets were old and worn out. The only electric outlet for the kitchen area was behind the refrigerator and was falling out. When I tried to reach behind the refrigerator, to plug in the coffee maker, I was shocked. We were going stay a week but had to check out after one night because of the extremely poor conditions. I do not recommend this place!

For $250 a night. I’m not joking when I say it was preferable to face hurricane strength winds to pick a different hotel on a new island.
- Dreamer32480880896 (10/5): Wonderful time at Bungalows! - My husband and I are celebrating our honeymoon and adventuring the island - we stopped by Bungalows after a recommendation from friends of ours. And let me tell you… we’re so glad we did. We met Jimmy, the owner, and he spoke with us about the history of the property and all the plans they have laid out for improvements. We asked about the grass/reef area in the water (since we love to snorkel) and Jimmy shared that a turtle, spotted ray, and sometimes a shark, will hang out right off the dock. My husband and I got in the water, and not even 15 minutes in, we were blessed with being able to swim side by side with a gorgeous sea turtle for about 20 minutes. Just when we thought we were done, the spotted Ray joined us and we swam with it for a while! We left the water, had some DELICIOUS food and drinks, then decided to get back in. Holy cow, we saw the turtle and Ray AGAIN!! I also pet a starfish, saw live conch shells, and so many fish. Honestly, we were a little disappointed we didn’t stay at Bunglaows to begin with. The property is gorgeous and quiet, while also teeming with wildlife, which is right up our alley. They do live music as well. Definitely take time to stop by Bungalows, say hi to Jimmy, and watch the sunset.

Place needs a lot of work but the A/C works great and room was clean with full kitchen. Right down the road is 2 grocery stores with everything needed for the stay. We will definitely be back to the Bungalows on the beach.

- chrissyken03 (4/5): Bait and switch - STAY AWAY until remodeled! I wrote to the owners and never got a response. Here is my letter to them: After much thought I decided to email you about my stay 3/16-3/23. Upon arrival we went to office a got key for #49. Friendly office person and Mary of course. We got to bungalow and saw partially painted front with painters' tape all over, porch and mat was dirty. Opened the door and at first glance it looked dirty; it was a little dirty, but the condition of the bungalow was horrible. Well, we were exhausted from traveling so we went down to Bobs to grab a bite after much waiting we got our burgers, burnt on one side but still tasted pretty good. I cleaned the bungalow with my wipes and lysol, but everything is just corroded, so we decided to make the best of our vacation. If we were to switch bungalows we would have had a view of other bungalows or back of shipping containers, well that's not what we cam/paid for. Next morning we went to Bobs for a delicious breakfast then proceeded to the beach. No umbrellas were anywhere then we found out they were available for rent. That is not acceptable for a "resort" oceanfront, so we sat under a tree, by midday the beach was crowded with not much shade. We were planning on going to other beaches as well anyway. The property was ok, no one did any landscaping until Thursday, palm fronds were tossed in front to our bungalow, there were already some there, must be the dump site for that. At night it was not well lit at all! The parking lot or the path. The beach towels were pretty old and thin, one day I got a child's one with cartoon characters on it. The pool turned green on Wednesday. I could not believe you rented that bungalow in that state. The toilet isn't even bolted down. I had to rewash any glasses, dishes and utensils I wanted to use. I have many pictures I will attach. The grassy stuff behind the headboard is unpleasant. The blinds are very dusty, everything needs really good cleaning! Our coffee maker had rust and was very small, so we requested another. We watched from the beach as someone went to another bungalow and grabbed one and put it on our porch. When we returned to put it inside it was dirty and still had old coffee in it, WOW! We work very hard to go on vacation each year, we are not rich by any means. I lived on island for 4 years in the 80's- 90's, went through Hugo, I know what island life is like. Corrosion, bugs etc. that's why I decided not to complain to the office as you were off island. The pictures or description of bungalows on the website are not accurate, we booked an oceanfront king, that is not listed on website, very misleading as I like to look at pictures of where I am staying. I had a great time revisiting St. Croix and showing my husband around, met some nice people, but I feel I was overcharged for what we got. The website shows pictures that are old and not what anything looks like!

- Hrothmir (4/5): Still (too much) a work in progress - Still (too much) a work in progress Recent reviews set our expectations too high. This property, with a fine location along Chenay Bay, does have a lot of potential. And it sounds like (from some recent reviews) the current owners are trying to fix things up and making good progress. But it’s not there yet. While the room rate is moderate, the bungalows need a fair bit of work and the service needs to improve to justify the price charged. Exterior The bungalows we stayed in were OK overall but not good/great. They looked a little dilapidated on the outside - e.g., obviously damaged woodwork, big holes in the screens for the bugs to fly in. Nothing terrible but not already well renovated. Once better fixed up, the set-up (small, colorfully painted bungalows arranged on a hill along a bay) will make for a nice resort. The property felt safe. Rooms The rooms were OK. Furnishings are more down- than mid- to up-market. I believe we stayed in renovated units – but it felt like they had let the rooms get a little worn down again – not keeping up with repairs/detailing needed to keep them looking “tight.” Our rooms look much more tired and far less “crisp” than the pics w saw online. We moved units mid-way through our stay (due to problems with our first units) and the condition as described here was consistent across units. A/C units worked well but one of the A/C units was so remarkably loud that one couldn’t sleep with it on. Plumbing had some minor issues but worked overall. Kitchens were equipped with fridge, electric kettle, and plug-in electric stove tops – so one could self-cater. There is a good little supermarket, Seaside Market, a short drive away. One of our beds was VERY firm. Noise from the A/C unit, fighting cats, and roosters (starting every morning at 430am) made it hard to get a good night sleep. Staff / Leasing Office The staff were friendly but not particularly concerned about issues. There are games and snorkel equipment one could borrow at the leasing office. The leasing office seemed to be staffed only at opening/check-out hours and evening check-in hours. If arriving outside of normal check-in hours, you should let them know in advance. Restaurant / Bar It seemed like more investment/effort was put into the eating area. This had a pleasant, outdoor setting beside the bay. Prices were reasonable by island standards. The food was good overall, if a little inconsistent (the same dish was great one night and just pretty good another night). The evening activities (e.g., bingo) seem to draw decent crowds from outside the hotel itself – showing they’ve got a good, successful formula. It was understaffed one night we ate there (one hour plus wait for food). We were worried that bar activities might generate too much noise at night – but there was no reason to worry. Take bug spray with you as it can be buggy in the evenings. Overall, the bar/dining area is a good feature of this property. Overall My review reflects the fact that overall I was disappointed with our stay. But that does not mean one will have an awful stay here. Just set your expectations correctly that some of the reviews (noting that things are improving) may not convey that things may still be a little rough around the edges; and that further improvements (Bungalow condition, service) are needed to justify the room rate.

- xv144 (2/5): A Cesspool in Paradise - RESERVATIONS – Due to a software glitch (don’t book on high volume days), 3 reservations were made in 15 minutes—I immediately cancelled two within the hour. Bungalows on the Bay (BoB) verified two were cancelled, but did not return our money! They did not answer a week of emails, so we had to have Expedia contact them to get our $5K back. Over a week of sleepless nights to straighten this out. ROOMS – we booked a 400 square foot room, but were put in a 225 square foot room, Cabin 5. A huge downgrade (BAIT AND SWITCH?). We had already moved in, put groceries in the horribly rusty refrigerator, and wiped the room down with Lysol wipes when we noticed how small it was. We didn’t want to waste a half day of vacation arguing with the office and packing and moving to a room that may be worse. I mentioned the downsizing at checkout (not the regular girl) and was told “I’m sorry”. The room had a very faint smell of dog poop, and was supposed to be an efficiency, but was horribly under equipped. There were no teaspoons (there were 3 tablespoons), no drinking glasses (1 wine glass and 1 beer stein), no stove with oven--only one little 6’ portable hot plate, a very rusty strainer, the room water was undrinkable due to a strong salt taste (free water at the bar). There was a quarter inch of dust inside the lamps, otherwise most of the room was clean. We killed 4 cockroaches in the room during our 10 day stay. POOL - it was a cesspool. All 10 days there were diving beetles and other bugs LIVING in the water, and a thick growth of algae on the sides and corners. I never saw anyone vacuum it. Some days it was entirely green (yet still open with people in it). If there is algae in a pool it eats up all the chlorine and the pool is unsanitary—it was not safe to be in the entire vacation. There was tourist (water bottles…) and pool trash (old rusty pool poles, old pool vacuums, parts of filters…) in sight all around the pool area and in the empty fountains. In the 10 days we were there none was picked up. See my video. BEACH – nice, but seaweed if you go past waste deep. Poor snorkeling. No rinse station for 50 cabins (they offer you a beer bucket of water at the bar). RESTAURANT – Very small menu, but excellent food, some specials PATIO – a rotting deck with new stain on it. Nice view, except when the pool was green. PROS –nightly entertainment, nice staff, good AC.

- timothy wayne (8/5): - Liked the seclusion and privacy but the facilities could use some improvement, for example pool and beach area needed more seating, advertised marine toys were limited or non-existent, better have GPS to find the place. All over nice place would consider again.
- R8104QTmaries (2/5): Disappointing - We booked this property based on the reviews. Not sure where those folks at but it couldn’t have been here. We woke up three days in a row to no hot water. Had to go hunt down the handy man Tyson, who was awesome, to get the hot water running again. Any time we needed clean towels or toiletries we had to go to the office and wait from them to bring what we requested, they didn’t have any soap the final day. We were there seven days and the bungalow WAS NOT CLEANED ONCE! Seriously?!?! The bar was fun. The food was really good but a limited menu. I realize the owners say it is a work in progress but the bungalows are disappointing and should not be rented until renovated. There is a lack of functional kayaks compared to the number of people who wanted to use them. If we could have found a vacancy somewhere else on the island, we would have left. We will not be returning and have already suggested to a few friends planning on a trip to St. Croix to not book here.
- Misliec (2/5): Disappointed! - We stayed here in January 2024 to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We were given bungalow 46 and upon entering the space, it was far from what we expected; the space was not clean, the cabinets were old and needed repair and no one should be forced to use that bathroom. It definitely did not live up to the reviews or pictures. We had a visitor crawl out of the silverware drawer that evening and two more the next day. We requested another bungalow, and they gave us bungalow 44 which was marginally better, but we lost the ocean views that we paid for. For the cost, we could have definitely stayed somewhere else on the island. Even if this place is being renovated, which we found out about after we checked in, this bungalow was no excuse and definitely not acceptable on any level. One positive note, the front desk daytime manager was great and tried her best to find us a different place.
- jeff (8/5): Make some new friends! - Good east end location. Easy to get to and away from the crowds. The owners are remolding and the layout and location are a winner. It’s not a fancy, high end place but, that’s the whole point. Because of the size and concentration of amenities, you’ll probably make some new friends seeing the other guests often.
- Katherine (2/5): - This property reminded me of a Girl Scout camp that has cabins and is kept up by volunteers. Many of the reviews say the place is being renovated. It makes me wonder what it was like before their “renovations”. From the huge dead roach on the floor behind the bed, the blinds that were scotch taped to the front door, to the paint on the floor in the bathroom, the dirty windows, the splitting wood and peeling paint on the front porch, the rocking chair on the porch that had a slate missing to the stained - stained - stained cushion covering the missing slate on the rocking chair. Did I mention the first room they put me in still had food in the refrigerator, dirt on the floor and literally a full drawer missing. They told me they knew the drawer was missing and added the room was under construction. I asked them why they would put a guest in a room that was under construction but they didn’t say anything after that. The ceiling fan in the second bungalow didn’t work and the sink was dirty as well as the light above the cabinets were fluorescent bulbs with no cover. In the second room there was someone’s leftover beer in the freezer. Needless to say I left early. It turned me off to the whole island.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Trip - Checking in took almost 3 hours -our first room was not cleaned and then our replacement room/cabin was full of wasps - not one or two - I think we counted 15 and there was apparently a next in the ceiling cap of the ceiling fan . Jackson (maintenance hero) got the wasps taken care of but we couldn't get in the cabin for a while - other than that BOB was great - a bit run down, but being renovated by the new owners. Beach was awesome, bar was a bonus, pool needs some work but was clean and refreshing. All the people working were very nice and friendly - a real plus was the nightly entertainment - - - Bingo on Tues, Trivial Pursuit on Wed, Steak Nite Thu and Live Music on Fri -

- Culture762283 (2/5): Such a terrible value; would not return. - This "resort" was such a disappointment. We had been told it was a beautiful location with renovated bungalows. The photos of the rooms that were available online showed freshly painted walls with new beds. The problems started from the moment we tried to find the place. The sign from the main road is almost faded out, with no lighting. The office is difficult to recognize as there is no signage. The office itself is a mess. Still, the worse part, though, were the bungalows we got. The first one, bungalow #3, was filthy and in terrible disrepair. The wood on the porch was rotting and falling apart. The kitchenette had a two-burner cooktop that was rusting; we didn't dare turn it on. The Formica countertop was stained, scuffed, and pulling up off the cabinet. The sink was dirty. The refrigerator had been shoved into place without even peeling off the packing plastic wrap. The mattress on the king-sized bed was ancient; it creaked with any movement, and we could feel the individual bed coils. The bathroom was frankly disgusting. The toilet bowl had huge stains. The shower had big rust spots. The walls were streaked. The sink was very dirty. We were disgusted and felt cheated but decided to keep an open mind. However, by the following morning, we decided we could not spend the rest of our week like that. We demanded either a different bungalow, or a full refund. They were gracious and immediately offered to show us another bungalow. This one looked much better and, in fact, was also much bigger. It had a living room and full kitchen. So, we decided to take it and stay. That first impression wore off quickly as we stayed in that room. There was no regular housekeeping service; it had to be requested every time. That had never been explained to us. It also meant we had to request new towels any time we wanted them. We were never able to turn on the living room fan or lights; the remote control was missing, and they never brought one for us. There was also no remote control for the TV; we were told they had universal remotes, but they never brought us one. To turn it on or off, or control the volume, we had to use the buttons on the bottom of the TV itself. The unit did have a full kitchen, but it had almost no pots or pans. We were not going to buy them, so it made the kitchen virtually useless. They didn't even have sponges to clean dishes or paper towels. In the bedroom, we could turn on the fan, but not change the speed at all. That remote was also missing. Also, the wiring connecting the fan was completely exposed, as it was for most of the fans we saw in the public areas, too. In the bathroom, problems continued. The sink almost did not drain, even after we had maintenance look at it. The toilet was stained, and it bubbled in a virtual eruption when flushed. The shower pan was leveled so poorly that water pooled on one side, instead of going down the drain. The location was good; about a 10-minute drive from Christiansted. The beach was very nice. The bar and small restaurant were also good. Nevertheless, none of that can make up for the terrible shape the rooms were in.
- itxena (6/5): Location and the bar/restaurant are priceless. Rooms are a crapshot where you end up - Wow, the location is amazing and so relaxing! There is some disorganization in booking due to changed ownership but new owners are trying hard. Our first cottages were horrible, not what we booked but they moved us to a nice upgrade. Pool needs work but it is VERY nice. Bar is the best ever, entertainment and fun. The food!! If you are not big on fancy but love lush grounds, not fighting for beach chairs and amazing views then this is your place!

Things are a bit run down and broken. We could have used another nightstand or table. We didn't have a table on the porch or in the room, so eating at our room was difficult.

- patrickmW6482JY (10/5): Beautiful Bungalows! - Spend 4 nights here and am so happy with our decision. Bungalows in the Bay has new owners as of late 2022 and they are gradually renovating the entire property. We stayed in Bungalow 41 - amazing water view and so peaceful and quiet. Bungalow was very clean and comfortable, roomy and AC worked perfectly. Bathroom needs little updating but again, everything worked well and it was very clean. The beach at BoBs (as the locals call it) is nice the bar/restaurant is vibrant with a good mix of guests and locals stopping by for food. They have nightly activities and mos important - the food is really good. Fish tacos were amazing and the cheeseburger is one of the top 5 I ever had. Also, the fries and great! The bartenders and friendly and they made an awesome painkiller. Breakfast are simple but very good. What makes Bungalows on the bay really special is the staff. Everyone at the bar/restaurant was very good, and Chermaine (sorry for spelling) at the front desk was exceptional. Highly recommend Bungalows in the Bay!

The food and drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was really fun and laid back, beach was really clean, and the paddleboards and kayaks available for use were AMAZING for kids and adults alike!! We will absolutely be back. So happy that this place has been rejuvenated.
- Teresa (10/5): - I loved that this was beachfront and that they had an on-site restaurant that served B, L & D. I liked that you could check out paddleboards, kayaks and snorkel equipment for free. I liked that there were individual bungalows instead of a hotel setting. I just loved staying here! We enjoyed playing with TD aka Tiny Dog and the six cats that stayed there especially Rosie. Yes, the bathrooms could use a little updating, but the other features outweighed anything like that by far. I would love to return here.

- Kelly (10/5): - Staff is amazing! The bungalows are so cute and it’s all you need for a long stay or quick getaway. Just a walk from the bungalows to the restaurant-amazing food and drinks, right onto the beach. Quiet and peaceful at night. Great music and entertainment. Dogs are allowed and you can even visit with the bush dogs and cruzan cats that live there. Great snorkeling as well. One of our favorite places on the island!

- jacob (10/5): - Great property best location. Right on water great stuff very relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy Kayaking snorkeling beach activities all included. Restaurant also has great food specials the wings. My family a party of 5 had 2 bungalows which overlooks the ocean. Definitely worth it and definitely we will be back.
