Guest Reviews
- Robert (10/5): - Excellent accommodations and service.
- Brent (10/5): - Super clean! Very nice travelodge that can be compared to a great holiday inn. Staff was friendly. Very convenient with a Pennys Diner on site combined with the hotel. Great food and service! Convenient drive to Harpers Ferry!
- Charles (2/5): Don't bother staying here if you live in town. - My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary My parents came to watch the kids at our house so we just wanted a night away and they have a stupid rule that a resident of the town can't stay there. Luckily a hotel just up the road gave us a much needed night away together. It's a shame they look at people that way, without even bothering to just see them as two parents who were celebrating a special day together.
- Stephen (10/5): - Clean and appears newly renovated. Very happy with our room.
- Theresa (6/5): - It's not the same hotel that it used to be. It's worn out and I've stayed at this hotel for years, and I've in this actual room before. There's a lingering odor that I suspect is from someone having smoked in it before. The cleaning staff are nice and I like them. The hotel is still a better option than staying in Frederick, which has turned into a dump.
- Dave (10/5): - Service was excellent. It’s obvious that the staff takes pride in their job
- Cynthia (10/5): - Penny's diner was open 24/7 so we could leave on our bikepacking trip early in the afternoon. The bfast was very good and at a reasonable price. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. supportive of bike packing the C&O. Had a seperate room for bike storage.
- Helen (10/5): - Convenient location near multiple parks, hiking and horse activities. Convenient restaurant Penny's Diner onsite is open 24 hrs. Staff is friendly and helpful.
- Vincent (10/5): - So glad I stayed here. Diner was delicious, staff was great, and the bike wash was perfect
- Laura (8/5): - Nice hotel, the room was clean. You check in at the fun diner across the parking lot. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room did not come with an ice bucket but had the liners by the ice machine, which was odd, Maybe I missed something! This hotel has 2 floors and no elevator. I wish I knew that since I use a cane. Other than that, it was a nice stay.
- James (10/5): - One night stay for a Celebration of Life event with family. Room was clean and comfortable...
- Bryant (8/5): - Clean and quiet!
- Kami (10/5): - Great stay! Very quiet. Diner food was very good and convenient. Thank you!
- Kristyn (10/5): - Love the diner! Late afternoon shift workers were super!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice clean place at a reasonable price. Housekeeping staff is gracious and kind. THere is no front desk. Check in/out and anything "front desk" has to happen at diner adjacent to the hotel. A little inconvenient, but not a big deal.
- Troy (10/5): - Staff was very polite and friendly. Room was great. Will be back.
- Carolyn (8/5): - Seems like the building was recently renovated. Clean and comfortable
- Dalton (8/5): - The property was good, but when we got to our room and turn the tv on it was in Spanish but you would think it would be in English everything you get into a room.
- Heather (10/5): - The dinner had excellent food. All the staff members were so helpful and the room was so clean you would have thought we were the first guests to use the room! The next time we visit family we will definitely stay at this hotel.
- Barbara (8/5): - Okay for a brief stay.. left the room at 10 am and room was not made up. Train whistle and dog barking in background. Bring a noise machine. Price was right and connecting diner was adorable
- Diane (10/5): C & O biker - Loved the hotel but the bike ride up to the hotel was steep! If they cater to bikers they should incorporate a shuttle service to the hotel. Biking down the next day was easy and fast.
- Dwight (10/5): Frederick MD - Great quiet location just outside Frederick. Excellent rates and comfortable beds. Love the diner next door!!!
- Robert (10/5): - A very nice hotel that was quiet and clean. Very convenient and friendly staff.
- Donald (10/5): Nice hotel - This was a very nice hotel. The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. I would definately stay there again if I am in the area.
- Jim (10/5): - I can't believe how big the room was!
I was running daily on the nearby C&O Canal towpath and returning to the room each evening.
The Travelodge has been recently renovated and is impeccably clean. The room allowed me to spread out my gear, making repacking my hydration pack easy each morning. Great water pressure and temperature in the shower.
Penny's Diner, adjacent to the Travelodge, offered breakfast 24/7, which made refueling at the end of a long day convenient, tasty, and very affordable!
We stayed here for three nights and loved it!
- Jim (10/5): - Excellent! We stayed for three nights.
- Jane (8/5): - Difficulty checking in due to computer issues, for which the staff were apologetic. Don't bother signing for a coffee maker for the room- the coffee at Penny's Diner is much better!
- Masayuki (10/5): - Easy online check in. Quiet (maybe it’s because I’m here on July 4).
- Logan (10/5): - Our room was very clean.
- Tracey (10/5): Very nice for a short stay - The room was clean and comfortable. We requested a first floor room late and we were accommodated and were given extra pillows. Service was great.
- Gina (10/5): - It was a great place to stay for a quick overnight… reasonably priced, clean, convenient located for area attraction… Harpers Ferry.
- Harlan (8/5): Clean but lacks amenities - Very clean and up to date. Drawbacks were no coffee maker in room and no free breakfast. Price is almost identical to local motels with both. The diner was convenient but adding a $30 breakfast at the diner made the stay more expensive than other local places.
- Wayne (8/5): Great hotel, killer hill to get to it - Bike friendly, be careful of the route gps sends you, avoid 2 nd street hill at all costs
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Check-in at the diner is certainly interesting, but everything about my stay was good, and the staff was very nice.
- Samuel (10/5): - Exceeded my expectations. The restaurant was convenient. The staff was helpful in storing my e-bikes and there was an easy to use coin operated washer and dryer. We arrived muddy on bikes and there was a convenient hose to use. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable.
- David (10/5): - Great staff. Clean upgraded facilities. Pet friendly.
- Tanya (6/5): - When we got here we found out there was a computer glitch and our reservation was accidentally cancelled. The stress level was not fun waiting to find out if we still could be accommodated. We had to take a single queen and a cot instead of two queens, which wasn’t the best scenario but better than being roomless. The owner did adjust our rate to reflect 1 bed. We tried opening the window for some fresh air but the propane tanks were outside our window and you could smell them. The 2 people working at the diner were very friendly and helpful.
- Winifred (8/5): - Ice stay to see family and friends for the day
- Sasa (10/5): - Very charming place next to lighthouse, beautiful ground , clean and good service. They also have a telsa charger on site.
- David (10/5): - Great place to stay.
- Kevin (8/5): - The hotel was affordable and easy to find. Check in at the diner adjacent to the property was different, but easy.
Very quiet property. I stayed on a Friday night and there were only a few vehicles in the parking lot.
Would stay here again.
- Sara (10/5): - Staff were very helpful and kind.
- Kobi (10/5): - The staff quickly attended to our concerns.
- Christopher (10/5): - Nervous about the check-in at a diner, but was pleasantly surprised by its’ charming 50’s style decor.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and good quality and good price. We loved the 24 hour authentic diner/front desk! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend & stay there again if we’re ever back in the area.
- Mark S (10/5): Nice - It’s a basic, prefab building, but very clean, our king room was very spacious, with comfortable bed and good furnishings, all in all it was nicer than expected.
- richard (10/5): - I was disappointed about the diner being closed for breakfast. This was the reason i booked it.
- Ronaldo (10/5): - The room was very clean and spacious. It's very close to the Brunswick Family Campground where were meeting with some friends. There is no front desk, and check-in is at the diner but it was very smooth and the people were very nice. Definitely reccommended.
- Mary (8/5): - I loved the restaurant out front, the place was very clean and quiet. On the other hand I didn’t like the lack of safety bars in the bath tub there were no bars at all.
- Sharon (10/5): - Unit was clean and check in was easy. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
- Gary (10/5): - Excellent stay overall though very long wait to check-in. Would stay again. Set up well for cyclists on C&O.
- Laura (6/5): - It was clean, affordable and in the middle of a cornfield. Haha. Too bad that Penny’s Diner was probably understaffed. I bet the food can be amazing.
Close to where we were going and a comfy nights sleep.
- Chad (8/5): Clean, quiet, no frills stay - Nice place in an area that has limited options. Rooms are clean and quiet, no frills stay. All we needed was a room, and that's what we got. perfect for us. Knowing that in advance was perfect, we'll stay again when we need a place to stay in this area.
- Heather (10/5): - Very clean, quiet spot with friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again.
- Robert (8/5): Good hotel in a small town - The hotel was nice enough for our stay. No complaints although the pillows didn't quite fit my style. the room was clean and had everything we needed. It was a bit strange that we checked in through the restaurant next door, but there was no problem checking in. I'd stay there again.
- Christopher (10/5): 1 night stay - Clean and comfortable room. Great 1 night stay.
- Cynthia (10/5): VaCa - Very nice. Dated but comfortable.
- Gisele (8/5): - Very clean, I was impressed with the condition of the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Us - Clean and comfortable
- Ernest (10/5): - My first take was how odd, but the property lived up to it's rating! A clean room, quiet, facilities all good. The diner worked and we got food when we needed it. My only complaint was typically hotels have a way to have coffee without charging (either in room or lobby) and this place you had to pay diner rates for it. Otherwise, it was nice.
- Paul (10/5): Great place to overnight in Brunswick. - Whats not to like about a new hotel? Everything a bicyclist needs is here after riding the C&O. You can bring your bike in the room,a diner is next store, and you get to enjoy a downhill coast back to the trail in the morning. Perfect stop.
- Joseph (10/5): - The staff were incredible, the check in process smooth, the on-site diner was fantastic - overall definitely a 10 out of 10.
- Daniel (6/5): - The good - a clean, modern room. The bad - no lobby in hotel (check-in at diner next door - first clerk had no idea how to check-in, second clerk greatly confused - initially couldn't find reservation for 1st room (reservation for 2 rooms for 2 couples), never could find reservation for 2nd room, didn't know how to look up Wyndam rewards number). Just weird - ice machine in hallway but no ice bucket in room nor drinking container of any type (paper cup, plastic cup, glass, etc); no coffee pot in room, refrigerator minimally functioning with no ability to adjust a thermostat.
- Karen (8/5): - I only wish there was a lounge area to sit and visit with family. Otherwise we like to stay here when we are in town.
- Winifred (10/5): - Very clea, the lady at the desk was very helpful, the only bad was one person at late at night, we had a group people
- Martin (10/5): - We were looking for a place to stop during the long drive from Myrtle beach to home. While this location was a little off our route it proved to be our best choice as it is nestled in a very quiet community. Rooms were clean and hotel was also quiet.
- Christopher (10/5): 2 night stay - I stayed 2 nights and everything was fine. It was clean and comfortable.
- Martin (10/5): - Very friendly reception and I found this to be a unique property
- Tom (10/5): - Very nice staff. Quick check in.
- Linda (6/5): - Room was nice and clean but no coffee pot in room, no body cream in room and no wifi password in room.
- Laura (10/5): - You check in at Penny’s diner which is open 24hrs. There is a $20 pet fee. The place was very clean and comfortable. We loved it! Everyone was so nice. I would highly recommend.
- Ben (8/5): -
quiet and clean - just what we were looking for
friendly staff
we would stay there again when in the area
- Sharon (10/5): - Checking in at the diner was different but was interesting to go into it. We had such a clean room and everything was perfect for an overnight stay.
- Kendra (10/5): - Newly renovated property with spacious, well-appointed rooms. We loved our stay here - including the check-in and meal at on-site Penny's Diner. The location of the hotel is excellent for access to the countless area activities and attractions; Harper's Ferry, Appalachian Trail, National Park, Weverton Cliffs, etc
Our family HIGHLY recommends this hotel.
- John (10/5): Great place to stay - The room was super clean and well laid out. We really liked the diner out front and enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. The staff were friendly and helpful regarding best ways to get around town.
- Steve (10/5): - Hotel was clean and quiet. A bit dangerous walk to the shopping center as there aren't shoulders on the road and limited sidewalks.
Food at the diner was just ok.
Staff very nice and helpful
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Excellent, friendly service. Felt very safe. All aspects of the building, room were extremely well maintained and clean.
- Julia (10/5): - One of the cleanest, quietest hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and I’ve stayed in a LOT
- David (8/5): - Good value. No in room coffee
- raymond (10/5): - Danielle & Emily were very nice & one if the cleanest hotels I been too will be coming back
- Jeanne (10/5): - Room was very clean.
- Leslie (10/5): - Very quiet place, convenient to Harpers Ferry, very friendly staff
- Wendy (10/5): - Clean, comfortable, well furnished room. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Tina (10/5): - Clean!!
- Vivian (10/5): - Easy location but you'll definitely need a car. Great diner next door. Property well maintained and furnishings were newer. Nice to have laundry on site.
- Kristin (10/5): - It was quick and easy to check in. The staff was friendly. The room was clean and it was a quiet location.
- Ann (10/5): - We are cyclists and it was good place to stay except for having to climb a steep hill. Pretty location with nice view but not many food options nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Kaitlyn and Lacy were great. They went out of their way to accomodate my needs.
- Pamela (10/5): - It was very clean with a nice floor plan and a small property. I didn’t see a recycle bin in the room though for paper.
I like the idea of a 24 hour Cafe however I couldn’t find many healthy choices for lunch. For breakfast they did not offer English muffins for the breakfast sandwich nor did I see an option for yogurt or a yogurt parfait or fresh fruit to go
- Bruce (8/5): - Bathroom with sink outside was a bit awkward.
- Tina (10/5): Awesome - Awesome short getaway
- Jody (8/5): - I have never checked into a Hotel thru a diner ! Staff was nice and friendly! I forgot my charger in the room luckily the man cleaning it brought it to me ! We were having breakfast in the diner ! Thank You !! The only negative thing I can say is I didn't see a elevator!! Kinda a bummer having to drag your luggage up and down the stairs !!
- Brian (10/5): - Really convenient property for visiting Harper's Ferry. Easy drive to the park and hiking areas. Room and property were very clean. Staff was super friendly. I think it's neat you check in at the diner - very unique which is part of the fun. Bed was very comfortable. I appreciate the hotel being pet friendly. I had two labs with me and they were both welcome.
- Jason (8/5): Diner - Love the attached diner
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was clean & nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room is very well thought out and furnishings are of high quality, has everything needed for a comfortable stay: spacious room size, new mattresses, extra blankets (so thoughtful!), armchair, ergonomic desk chair, mirrors, large open closet, high quality and generous-sized wood furnishings. The sink and counter space outside the bathroom is so helpful! A/C, refrigerator worked well. The 24-hour diner was great, staff friendly and personal. I really didn't expect this great quality for the price I paid or for the 2-star level of hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not the best, barrable for the price - The hotel building is a two floors building. The reception is at the next building, a diner. The receptionist is the waitress. The diner itself wasn't good (mash potatoes was from aix, meatloaf was dry). The room was big and although it wasn't spotless, it was clean enough. The area is full of other hotlels and restaurants.
- Jason (6/5): Okay—No elevator - Was fine. Not fun going up a couple flights of stairs with all the bags.
Hotel is connected to a nice little diner which is nice for a good priced breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy check in with very friendly staff! Great diner!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for C&O Canal Towpath Bike Ride - This place is a gem -- very clean, well-maintained furniture and room, great service, and 24/7 diner next door. I stayed here overnight while biking the C&O canal towpath. You can keep your bike in your room and be sure to ask for a 1st floor room since there are no elevators. To avoid the very steep 2nd Ave hill in Brunswick, take the more manageable gradual climb on Gum Spring Rd. Returning back to the towpath is all downhill.
