• nhouston2021 (2/5): Horrible, nasty and disgusting, go somewhere else and don't look back - One of the nastiest places we have ever stayed. Our room reeked of dog poop and vomit. We stayed here about 20 years ago and it was great. We had to put the rug underneath the bed so we would not smell as strong. Went to complain, but the office was closed by 9:00 pm and didn't open until 9:00 am the next morning. We didn't get back to our room until the office was closed. We got to the motel to pick up or key and then went to eat. We were told we woudl have a room facing the ocean, no we got a corner room were you could not sit and watch the sunset. The room was not even even and the bed was sideways to the wall and the floor was uneven. WE were told it had just been remodeled. Apparently all remodeling was done in the dark since nothing was measured correctly. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but there were cigarette burns on the comforter which was thin and ragged. If we could have found another vacancy anywhere in the small town we woudl have left. Plus the cost was $180.00 per night for this nightmare dump. We wrote a letter when arrived home but they refused to even acknowledge any correspondence. There is a much nicer place next door, wished we had know it had been built. Advice warning stay there instead of Silver Sands!! A dump of all dumps! We should have thought something was not right when we picked up our key and neither person in the office knew what to do. They even fussed between themselves. Don't let the pictures they have on the website fool you.

• Douglas (4/5): - Very worn out property. Found a dead bug when I pulled down the sheets. Shower had significant grout mold. 2 night minimum stay and cancellation policy weren't clesr when I booked last minute. Checked out 1 day less than reserved. Was charged for the night we did not stay. Desk staff was inflexible on their policy. Worst hotel experience I've ever had.
• Terry (8/5): - Ocean view from our room with 2 queen beds and kitchenette was awesome. Took great pictures of the Arch Rock and high tide. Lady at front desk did not leave good first impression with all her rules but at checkout she was cordial. The grounds were dirty but the room was updated. It's an older Motel. Good stay for the money.

The two amenities that I wanted and chose on my trip was a Kitchenette and Balcony and what turned out was a Kitchenette with very old (at least 20 years) skillets that couldn't be cleaned. There was NO Balcony and what they were referring to was the Corridor out front that everyone used to get to their rooms. The ceiling fan was full of dirt/dust (would love to attach a picture). Not impressed.
• Dana (8/5): - Good stay, steps from the beach. Had a ocean side room that was very nice. Bed was a little lumpy. Upon check out on Oct 5, I was going to grab some coffee in the lobby (a coffee machine is in the lobby) I was told by the woman at the desk "there's no coffee, I just got in and I don't want to make any" . Overall the property was nice, good value for a beachside hotel.

Other than the great location, the room was standard with most standard features. Check-in and parking were easy.

• 253nikig (2/5): Sketchy - As a solo female, I look for safety and feeling comfortable. This motel is old with ikea type upgrades, which was not comfortable. And the surrounding area is sketchy. So all that plus the fact that my bathroom window did not shut on my ground floor room made for a very uncomfortable, sketchy night. And it’s not cheap! I was outta there first daylight!! Don’t recommend!!!
• Candace (8/5): - I love that it’s right on the beach and every room has an unobstructed beach view. The kitchen was well stocked and the bed was very comfortable. It was very clean. The WiFi connection was poor and I ended up using a personal hotspot. Not adequate for working or streaming programs. Otherwise it was fine. I will stay here again. Good value for the money.
• randy (2/5): - Walked in and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or vacuumed. Stains on sofa, burnt grime on stove top, back door leading to beach was not locked. Went to check for bed bugs and pulled the sheets back only to find nasty stains on both sides of the bed. I mean stains that had not been thru the laundry. Disgusting. We had reservations for 2 nights. Could not stay in that room. They gave us a different room for 1 night which was better but not much. No fitted sheets on any beds. They did give us a full refund with the 1 night at no cost since there was nowhere for us to go. They put 0 into maintenance. The place is falling apart. What a shame to have a place in such a great location with no upkeep and falling apart and filthy
• Louise E (10/5): - Really excellent location… door to the beach. Fantastic views. The town had some really good restaurants…Sand Dollar, Los tres locos Mexican and a really good Indian food truck. Look like pelican brewing will be opening a place there too, very shortly.

• virginian608 (2/5): Best Location in Rockaway Beach - With over 500 reviews posted on Tripadvisor (assigned to different names!), this property is old, run down, yet in the best location in Rockaway Beach. The real problem is the attitude. On the front reception window, a large red sign warns that bathrooms are not for passersby. There is no "Welcome guests" sign. YOU WOULD BE GIVEN A DOUBLE SIDED, SINGLE SPACED PAGE WITH WARNINGSOF FINES: $150 for seafood smells, $25 for lost keys, $250 for smoking, $250 for pet problems, etc. These fines make sense. However, there is nothing on the page that says, "Welcome, guest." or "We're happy you're here," or ... One of us was here on vacation. The other had to work. But the wifi did not reach our room. At the reception desk, the connection was quick, but there was none in the room. An entire day of work lost!!! The reception person said they didn't know why there was none in the room, and don't ask.
• Phyllis (6/5): Room 147 - The two best things were the easy beach access and the bed. The room I had could have used some serious refreshing; the toilet seat had well worn markings that looked pretty gross; the sink was cracked; most of the furniture was prominently scratched; one of the comforters and one of the towels were torn; there was only one overhead light in the main room (aside from nightstand lamps) and the entry way was dark at night; and the room and bathroom could have been cleaned better. The front office staff, however was very nice! I am happy to email pictures.

• Skyler (10/5): Cozy - We had a little porch and a walkway down to the beach. It was secluded and felt so wonderful. The bed was soooo comfortable! I felt safe the whole time. If we ever come back we are staying here again.

• Marc Lester (6/5): - This motel is in a great location and the staff was nice but the facility is very old and ran down. It could be very nice but sadly it wasn't on this visit. Our room was overlooking the end of the street at the beach and cars were continually turning around. The facility has no AC and we had to leave the windows open the entire time we were there making the traffic and people noise very irritating.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful ocean front views/room needed update/ - We stayed for couple nights during August and the fog rolled in, humidity at 100%. The fan in the room stopped working. Not really comfortable. No AC. Room needs updated, some paints chipped. The ocean views is absolutely beautiful straight from dinning area, and the kitchenette is a plus and with all small appliances like toaster, kettle, silverware, very convenient for family.

• Leila (6/5): Overpriced for what you get - It was high season and that's hopefully why the room was priced so high. It's a budget motel. The ocean view is only available if you sit in the table next to the window or stand up. The TV isn't watchable from the bed. The only seating is the two dining chairs at the table. The bed is on the opposite side of the room from the windows (which are smallish) so no ocean view from bed. There are also lots of warnings about being charged for makeup on the linens, not declaring dogs, etc. (we were asked if we had pets even though we rented a non-pet room). Overall, didn't feel super welcoming and overpriced for what we got. Also, the bed was weirdly squishy.

• Andrew (6/5): It's an ok place at best - We stayed for a couple nights in room 128. If you get that room I would suggest to move if possible. The room is next to the dumpster so it smelled like trash with and without the windows open. The patio is tiny and barely fits one chair while all the other rooms have patios at least twice the size. The beach view is mostly of the electrical box. You have public access right next to the room and everyone staying at the hotel walks by so sitting with the blinds open is not optimal. Everyone tends to look into the room as they walk by. The room looks like it was redone but the floor was very soft and moved when you walked around. The three pillows were very flat and need to be replaced.

Our room was on the bottom corner and the walls were so thin you could hear everything outside it was a little weird. The patio outside was nothing since it was on the corner it was a long thin room. It fit one very dirty and well used plastic chair. The other rooms looked better.
• Clifford (2/5): disappointment - Prepaid night stay not accepted. Credit card not accepted. Not clean. Money refunded, but I am out of pocket. I also lost my 2 nights stay towards my Rewards. I also lost my reward points on my credit card. Refused to provide enough towels. Last stay 1 roll of toilet paper was supposed to last 4 people for 2 days!! This is all unfortunate, because for 10 years we have LOVED this place. This was supposed to be a stress-free getaway for my daughter and granddaughter.
• april (8/5): - This was the perfect place for the kids and I! It was so close to the beach that we could easily go play, come back and clean up then walk right over to lunch or dinner. Close to the pirate park as well. Parking and check-in were easy! A little aged overall but still a great bargain. The beds were so comfortable!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great beach for walking - This is a dated motel that could use a little TLC (painting, repairing wall dings, etc. ). And new beds! They are much too soft and bouncy. Kitchenette was adequate. Otherwise, the beach is lovely and our first floor allowed us to walk out and be on the beach. The staff were helpful and friendly. Can walk into Rockaway quickly.

The shower pressure was so strong it could peel a layer of skin, but great for getting rid of sand. Quaint boardwalk for walking and shopping with a sweet homemade mini golf course that made us smile.

• donmP1754LB (8/5): Sunny sands - Overall had a great trip. Weather was mostly outstanding for the whole trip. Had hrat walks on beach, Very interesting exploring all the shops in town. Room and facilities were great ..comfortable beds, a flat surface stove in our room ( not all rooms) The front desk was very cordial and welcoming, was great to responding and inquiries we had about restaurants. Only issue was the small refrigerator. Luckily I had a ice chest with us and got bags of ice in a very good store across the street. Will be back

The carpet had tears and runs, the mini fridge was either Luke warm or freezing things solid, and there is no oven, even though there is room for it. Nice people, great beach, but just an old tired motel

Everything was within walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel and my husband and I will definitely be going back!
• Gloria (4/5): - Sent from my iPhone I was traveling from Astoria to Rockaway because of a family matter, unfortunately I was unaware that the office at the Silver Sands closed at 9PM after receiving a message from the office indicating arrival after 9PM, the office would be closed,no other information relayed on the message.Fortunately, I arrived 15 minutes before the office closed, staff person rude on arrival for the inconvenience, handed me my keys quickly,indicating front/backdoor,no paperwork copy after I showed identification and signed for Rm112 ground floor. The room was old,furniture chipped,no phone,carpet smelled moldy,also unaware guests could see inside the room passing by if curtains were open.The bathroom appeared to have the only new furnishing,tub,commode, floor chipped with paint stains. I spoke to the manager when I left regarding the room,she gave no apologize for the inconvenience/concern I spoke about,simply shrugged her shoulders, said nothing. I will not recommend Silver Sands in Rockaway Beach. I will complain to Expedia handling the reservation and indicating that “very good” on their website is false, not worth the price.

• Eric (10/5): - We had an amazing view from our room, and made use of the small kichenette in our room. The beach was easily accessible and we had a lot of fun finding sand dollars in the morning. All of the stores and restaurants were within easy walking distance. The food was good and the tourist shops were great. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and helpful.
• rafulito2022 (6/5): Old Motel on the Oregon Coast - Rockaway Beach is pretty rural along Highway 101 at the Pacific coast in Oregon. We had no car and came by bus. The Silver Sands Motel has aged and should be renovated. For a European traveler the prices are in the upper range, but you won't find much else here in Rockaway Beach. The beach is directly ahead of you and the walks along the Pacific Ocean are majestic and that is why we love the little village.
• Jim (8/5): Older motel but great view and beahc access - The hotel shows its age, could use some real TLC. That said for the price in the area, it was clean, large simple room, and right on the beach. I would stay again for a short stay.
• Ann (10/5): - This is an older motel but well maintained and very comfortable. We could literally step out onto the beach from our room. Walking into town for meals was a treat and less than a mile. I loved it so much I just made another reservation.

Floors were new and fine but the rugs they used were disgusting and filthy to the point we never took off our shoes. The quilt on the bed was filthy and smelled like greasy head. We are staying right down the beach from there now, and it is so much nicer… and only a little more money. The daytime hotel front desk person was totally unresponsive and rude and obviously didn’t like her job. The attitude was overwhelming negative. Don’t stay here. Find another spot.

The morning receptionist on Tuesday was rude and the dog wouldn’t quiet down. The receptionist in the afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday was welcoming. The Thursday checkout was good and the receptionist was kind.

• Travis (6/5): - Awesome view, no air conditioning in rooms, very hot! Tiny bathroom, horrible shower, uncomfortable beds, needs a update, stairs were scary, parking sucked!
• Cherie (8/5): - The location of this property is great as your back patio or window looks directly on the ocean and it is just a short walk to the ocean itself. However, the room I was in had an odor which I assume has to do with the carpet. More hotel should not have carpet in the rooms.

• Edward (10/5): Beach comfort - Excellent location and large room.
• Dayna (6/5): - I like to stay here but it’s needing an update really bad room 111 stained couch stained sheets in second bedroom and the doors are filthy and outdated. Some outlets not working - Now for nice stuff - staff is very very nice and property outside clean and very welcoming and accessibility is tops to everything - beach #1 and shops train and great eating places .

• Audra (8/5): - I love the view! It was close to everything we needed. The staff was friendly. It was clean!!! The entrance was convenient and there was an ice maker, which was great for me since I drink a lot of ice water. However, the beds are the spring kind and you feel every single one and the pillows are so low end you can't even tell you have one under your head it's so flat. It's old and you can tell, but it is clean....very important to me, and charming.
• Curtis (10/5): - It's tough to find a beachfront hotel at this price point, and the view is fabulous! Great location, nice little town. Clean and did the job. It's what you would expect for the price. Would stay there again.
• Nancy (8/5): - Nice stay ..wishing we had requested a bottom floor room...tired of climbing stairs by time we left
