Guest Reviews
- Brenda (6/5): - So I wanted to go to a place that had a bathtub. The first room didn’t have a bathtub plug so he put me in a different room in that room smelled like weed and smoke and the jets in the in the bathtub didn’t work.
- David (10/5): Never going to be on anyone's bucket list - Not so good. Toilet needed manual flap replacement to flush. Toilet paper in a bucket on bathtub because no way to hang it on wall. Room smells old and musty. The front desk people were super nice! I wish the hotel could have been the same
- Clint (2/5): - Air condition was crap it wouldnt cool the room
- Richard (8/5): - It was good stay
- TRACY (10/5): Absolutely will be back. - This place is adorable. It's dated, but in a fun way. Found my new place to stay when I come to town for concerts.
- Dominique (2/5): Don’t book here unless you absolutely need to! - When I initially got to the property the room was not clean I had went to the front desk and let them know that the room was not clean and I need a fresh sheets on the bed I did my own cleaning up my room because I didn’t trust that they would provide the service that was needed I bought cleaning products and or the day after I was sitting on the getting ready to start my day obviously not dressed and in my under clothes there was a knock at the door.
About five seconds after I heard the door opening to see that the owner had open the door and was looking me in my eyes. Oh violated modified and frankly unsafe. I asked him why he would open the door and not give me a chance to answer his knock he just continue to apologize and walked away he told me if I wasn’t happy with the service then I have the right to leave which further made me feel uncomfortable and unwanted as a customer.
- Samuel (2/5): Needs Updates - The hotel needs major remodeling. They just patch up issues that come up. Doors aren't really secure, and they have trash cans (to catch water condensation) under each a/c unit that makes it look ghetto. Ceilings look like from the 70's. They take care of their plants more than their rooms.
- Robert (10/5): - 10/10 would stay again
- John (6/5): - There where roaches in the room never unpacked just left
- Christopher (8/5): - Property is a little dated but the price is reasonable.
- Yvette (10/5): Edelwise New Braunfels, Tx - The room was adequate. The bed was big but very firm if that is what you like, it will be great. I prefer a softer bed. The space was clean and accessible. Fridge and microwave in the room is a plus. Overall a good experience.
- Hailyn (8/5): Cute and Cozy - This experience was prefect for a small road trip with friends. The hotel rooms are cute and cozy.
- Karl (4/5): - Roaches in the bath tub. Dirty floors.plugs and lights not working. Definitely needs a major remodel and cleaning.
- Cinthia (4/5): - It was dirty and outdated. No wifi.
- Efren (6/5): - it was nice people were friendly
- David (10/5): Home - The room felt like I was home
- Cesar (2/5): Don't. Just don't. - When I decided to try staying at a hotel that wasn't a chain and give this unique-looking place a try, I had no idea the terminal error I made until I stepped foot inside our room, but that only came after I entered the front lobby.
The suffocating amount of dust-coated knicknacks and plastic floral arrangements strategically placed to bar access to anywhere but the few feet of space between the door and the front desk demanded careful attention to avoid knocking anything over or even more dreadfully touching anything at all. A prominent sign advertised various amenities such as a complimentary breakfast of which they no longer offer, laundry washing service which amounted to a single washer and dryer sitting out in the sun in the parking lot, and a notice for No Pets Allowed which contradicts the hotels.com profile. I was then given my room cardkey which was peeling at the corners and bore an advertisement for Dominos pizza dated 2016, suggesting that the ''security'' of my room hadn't been updated in nearly a decade. Shoving the door to get it to open, I was met with a blast of stale cigarettes and musty odor, at least 3 unknown insect carcasses on the unswept floor, sheets/towels that appeared washed but covered in ancient stains, a single half-used toilet paper roll, and unwiped desk surfaces that threatened to defile anything you dared to set on them. There is so much more to say, but we lasted a 3 hour nap before wisely leaving. The front desk lady was nice, at least.
- MALLORY (4/5): - When we showed up the lady was not the nicest person and I haven't been to very many hotels but they took a copy of my credit card and if that's policy I definitely understand but she didn't explain anything to me was just very cold very rude. We get to our room all the lights are broken besides the bathroom light and the light where the sink is there was broken tiles in the bathroom, the AC barely worked, the lamp post shades were broken and barely just hung on right there and it just smelled of really bad chemicals like bug repellent or cockroach spray or something. And I know this was a last minute trip for my boyfriend and I to go and this was the less expensive place that we could find just for one night and for $124 I think it was a flat-out joke
- Tammy (6/5): - Nice and clean place but smelled moldy and I had to keep scooting myself to the middle of the king size bed because it felt broken as in wanted to dump me off . No ice machine available . No coffee for coffee pot . Additional ten dollar charge if you want to use your jacuzzi tub . Speaking of took a shower and the water wouldn’t go down so was standing in water the whole time . Place is covered in plants which is nice but made it hard to get through with luggage .
- Beatrice (10/5): - I stayed here 3 nights in a row and it's quiet and nice and affordable and huge time and i really enjoyed it.
- Beatrice (10/5): - Its hard to find a hotel that feels actually safe and here i felt safe.
- Dorothy (8/5): - The hotel is clearly old, but very quaint. We were surprised that the room was so quiet, especially being right next to the Interstate, and we were in a room right next to the parking lot. Never heard a sound once our room door closed, as though the room was sound-proof! Adding a door to the toilet/shower room wouldn't hurt, but otherwise, our stay was good. No complaints.
- James (8/5): - It was very rustic and German themed. The rooms are a bit out dated but it had a charm.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Warning before booking go somewhere else - Bed bugs and dirty rooms advise you to pay that extra money on a better place
- Jeff (8/5): - The Motel is quaint and very homey and the staff is very friendly, but the maid has a “Cop knock” in the morning that will wake the dead at around 10:00 am. Otherwise it’s a nice place if you’re a seasoned traveler and highway sounds don’t bother you.
- Jeff (8/5): Decent, but… - Most of the room was good. Nothing new, but still good conditions. There was also a little too much other furniture. But when I got up to shower, a yellow fluid had drained from behind the shower wall into my soap holders in my tub.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Nope don’t do it…… - We couldn’t even stay. While we knew we were booking an older hotel room that want updated via the pictures. We were not expecting tiles to be falling off the wall. Mold in the bathrooms. Electric plugs hanging from the walls
- Shirley (4/5): - Two adults and two kids; we were in NB for a family reunion. We chose Edelweiss for the cost and location, and specifically for the free breakfast. There was no coffee with the coffee maker, no cups or glasses. There were two towels for the four of us. One of the lamps had no light bulb. No batteries in the TV remote. Saturday morning we went to the lobby for breakfast at 8:10 and were told breakfast is served 5:00 - 8:00 a.m. so it was too late. Sunday morning we went at 7:00 a.m. and were told it wasn't ready yet and to come back after they set it up. We went back at 7:30 and there was horrible coffee, orange juice, and granola bars. The management was very nice and courteous, but the rest was lacking.
- Bonnie (10/5): - Nice easy friendly check in
- Veronica (6/5): - Very old property.
- Anthron (2/5): - I would never stay here again. The area is allowed to be unsafe by the staff and the staff doesn’t care what goes on outside on the property.
- Kyle (2/5): - Grungy cheap hotel with unclean rooms Saw rats outside property
- Dwain (6/5): - The bed was comfortable. There was a hot tub in our room but an extra fee to use it. The refrigerator had to be plugged up but gave off so much heat to run it. The air conditioner leaked water. There was no working ice machine. It was an ok hotel, I just didn't think it was worth what I paid.
- michael (2/5): Not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. - Refrigerator did not work and was in terrible shape even if it would work. One bed side lamp, The other neither had a plug to be plugged in nor a switch to be turned on. Burn marks from cigarettes on the bathtub. Shower head made for someone 4 to 5 feet tall. Lack of plugs in walls, only one extra outlet next to the bed, so anyone with a cpap would have to charge their phone by the sink. No ice machine working which would have made up for the non working refrigerator. Surprised me there were no bugs. Overall a clean but run down place to sleep.
- Jon (10/5): - Very nice staff and location
- Tracy (2/5): One night that felt like a year - This was an awful motel/inn.... The room has not been updated in years. The bedding had holes, the AC did not work, you are not allowed to get ice until July 1st. Now this is Texas you need AC and Ice. The in room refrigerator did not work, no coffee for the coffee pot. The free breakfast was not really breakfast but burnt coffee in the lobby. The restroom had not fully been cleaned in awhile. The clerk hand wrote my Credit Card number down on a piece of paper anyone could see. The door was not sealed so you could hear everything from outside. To say we spent a year here last Saturday night would be an understatement. Avoid at all cost, all though it looks like a really cool German hotel it is not!
- Cipriano (6/5): My recent stay - Stay was a good stay. Entrance is beautiful full of flowers. parking spots are a bit small and tight for trucks. Entering the room it was a very nice beautiful room. Well maintained to the naked eye and clean.
Did not likes
3 Beds pillows were flat
I have a 1 1/2 year old and I got a handicap room when I didnt book one so there were 2 port a potty’s in the corner of the room outside the restroom. Had to be mindful he didn’t go that area to touch the port a potty’s.
Restroom had no door for privacy but it did have a curtain before going into the wash room
- Gerald (2/5): Bad experience - Cable didn’t work plus it was super dirty and old
- Patrick (2/5): - Next to the freeway, was locked out of our room
- Klara (4/5): - Very weak wi-fi. Weird people around the area
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unprofessional and not worth the money - The room was extremely hot. Took a nap when we got there and woke up drenched with sweat. When front desk was told about the issue they sent a tech to look at AC but said it was working perfectly. After getting back from a night out i asked the front desk for a fan and was told they would send one up. After waiting an hr i called back and was told the AC was fine. Front desk gave me attitude but eventually brought a fan. The following morning an hr before check out the front desk called every 15 min to remind us that check out was at 11. At 1055 there was a lady knocking on our door asking if we were checking out on time. Oh and to top it all off there was no toilet paper in the restroom.
- Gina (2/5): - This property was so filthy, I didn’t feel comfortable staying. There were also homeless people loitering in the parking lot and a drug deal/prostitute situation happening in front of our room. We left
- Tara (4/5): - I didnt care for the property other than it was in a good location. The handicap parking was covered with plants. We had friends to meet up with us before going to Landa Park and they called into our room and said we couldnt have anyone else in our room....WHAT! We had to go to office and let them know they were just meeting us and the had their own room down the street. Will not stay here again
- Kristen (8/5): - too much messiness
- Verified traveler (4/5): Checked out after 5 minutes - Room smelled of smoke, property very outdated, plants all over parking near entrance including a hottub sitting in the parking lot. Unsafe location, people wandering near the cars and the gas station. Sheets are stained and no way we were going to stay.
- Jennifer (2/5): - The management was very rude. Place filthy and cops there to arrest tenants on the property.
- Jasmine (6/5): - It isn’t a bad place to stay, but it doesn’t look like it’s been updated since the 80s. As a woman traveling alone for this trip, the area just seemed a little…uneasy. It’s nothing against the property, it was actually a pretty good trip, it just really creeped me out as a young woman who’s never traveled alone before.
- Charles (8/5): My Stay , Charles - I could not get the Wi-Fi to work on my Apple cell phone or my iPad. There was a nail that was sticking up and the door plate going from the bedroom living area to the bath area that had a nail that was protruding in my co resident Foot caught on it. It is an older hotel and otherwise fairly well maintained. Overall I enjoyed my stay there. It is a bit oddly located for entrance and departure. But new Braunfels is fairly easy to get around in. I should add The hotel maintenance did respond quickly to the nail on the door plate.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Outdated/dirty/cluttered - We didnt stay because our room was dirty like someone had been in there prior to our stay and left take out on the furniture. The smell was horrible , as the ac was left off also.
- Vilma (2/5): - It is very dirty.
Dead cockroaches in the bathroom and on the bed.
Homeless people are right outside in the parking lot. I assume they live at the gas station property.
A scary and unsanitary experience to say the least.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Super hot, poor night staff, no toilet paper
- Juan (4/5): - It was cluttered with plants and appliances. The rooms were dirty. It appears they cleaned minimal. If you looked around the floor and corners you would find trash hair. The bathroom tub leaked (not so eco-friendly). The sink spout sprayed all over the counter.
- Madison (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - DO NOT STAY HERE! The hotel was FULL of cockroaches, smelled horrible. There were stains everywhere. Gave me total creep vibes. The front desk attendant assured me he would not charge me, since I decided to leave, but he did. He was also very rude and aggressive. I advise women to take caution and to not enter alone at night. He followed me out to my car screaming at me.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - THE LOCATION IS PERFECT! Getting into and out of can be a challenge. It is a quaint little place, neat, clean. However, outdated in today's fast paced world. If your sharing the room with your spouse privacy is not an issue. With non-relatives privacy would be an issue due to no door on the restroom. A curtain is all that separates one from everyone else in the room. Despite the privacy issue I would be tempted to stay because of the location and the service from the front office and staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The owner of the property was rude.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place hasn't been update since it was built, it looks like. It reminded me of the motels you see in horror movies that are cliche bad. For the price, it was one of the worst places I've ever stayed -- and I've been to Iraq. So close to the freeway and with paper thin walls, you could hear every passing car. The toilet ran all night long and would only stop briefly if you jiggled the handle. The desk clerk explained the wifi password but neglected to mention that it wasn't working or did not extend to our room. The TV initially didn't work. The beds felt like cinder blocks and the sheets were suspect. We initially planned to stay two nights but after a few hours, I made a reservation elsewhere in town to get the hell out of that room. Just awful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It’s very old. There are so many plants and an accumulation of stuff outside that it’s hard to find the way to the office door. Rang bell for quite a while before anyone showed up. Someone lurking around in the corner peaking from behind a tree on occasion in the parking lot. Air condition unit rocked but room smells a bit musty. Curtains, linens, furniture and bedspread very old. Pretty expensive for not having coffee, breakfast, pool, etc. Staff was nice though!
- Jennifer (2/5): Terrible hotel - Management took over an hour to check me in. Then before check out management was peeking into the window. Creepy 💀
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I did not like the location, the tenants, the staff. IT was very expensive for the quality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No review
- Thomas (4/5): - The hotel looks junkie, the front desk gentlemen was rude, i wil, not stat here again.
- Gary (4/5): - Air conditioner made a noise all night
- Bernard C (2/5): - Jacuzzi did not work, no usb plugs, mold over shower, wall paper ripping off. Was more like a $39.99 room, definitely not worth $90! Coffe pot, but no plug close to it, no coffee or condiments provided. Soap brittle, broke off in hand. I have pictures.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Looked a lot better in pictures :(
- Robert (2/5): Horrible - Don’t stay here simple as that
- Robert (2/5): DONT STAY HERE - Terrible service, rude, overall never going back
- Robert (2/5): Run don't stay here - This was a last minute booking and my wife i regret risking or health by staying at this hotel? Mouse poop next to and under the bath towels. Mice or rats in the walls scratching all night long. I got propositioned in the front lobby while i waited to check in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It felt like home, very cozy, staff friendly, over all stay was excellent, very quiet area
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This is the most disgusting hotel ive ever stayed at ... ever. The security chain was broken, tv broken, hole in the door, couch disfigured, bucket outside the ac unit. If there was a complimentary breakfast I sure didnt see it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nice place to stay in new braunfuls near my home in Marion.
- Inocencio (6/5): Look elsewhere - We checked in around 7-8pm went to eat before going to room just to come back to find out the Maid forgot to service the room from the last check out. Was out in another room but beds were dirty and bugs in the room. We made the best of the trip, final check out was charged an additional $15 front desk said it was for Tax.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The gentleman at the counter was very kind and informative.
- John (4/5): Terrible Management - Yes, this place is the cheapest in town. Here is what you need to know. The place is run down and a mess but I can deal with that. The worse part is the manager was dismissive and when I told him I had a reservation he seems to have ignored that and gave me a new one then when I called Hotels.com and they called him he yelled at them asking if they could prove I was there then hung up on Hotels.com. For double I could have stayed at the Courtyard on the river. Hotels.com is in the process of sorting it out but this is one case where saving a little could cost you a lot.
- Keelan (4/5): Never again at Edelwiess - I paid for a suite, got to the room and it was noting more than a regular room. Sauna tub required a 10 dollar deposit. It had a microwave and a small refrigerator and an ironing board. No iron, hair dryer didnt work. Cabinet under the sink led to the outside world. The safety latch on the door was installed backwards so i could not secure the room door to my satisfaction. There was the typical in room coffee pot but was denied coffee because my stay was not longer than 5 days. I will not return to this place.
- Karson (6/5): - It has an old German architecture that caught my attention while I was in New Braunfels so I thought I’d give it a try the front desk staff was really friendly however the room was not as nice it smelled like mildew pretty strong and a few bugs were walking around, other than that it wasn’t too bad of a place.
- Missy (2/5): - The room was downright disgusting. Old, dirty, and smelt like smoke- my hair still smells like smoke days after leaving and washing over and over again.
- Ruby (4/5): - Was dirty it wasn’t even 11 am and was getting calls at 930 am to checkout . A knock on the door at 1030 am so not returning .
- Sarah (4/5): - Bed uncomfortable, room never cooled off with AC on high. Constant noise outside
- Angelica T. (4/5): Will not be coming back to this hotel! - When we walked in the room, a picture frame was hanging off sideways, and one of the chairs had a broken leg leaning up against the wall. We stayed two nights so after the first night I placed the maid service tag outside of door, and left for the day, I made sure it was on the right side. My husband and I arrived back Late that night after 11pm hoping to find bed made and fresh linens, finding out that the room was not made up and found it left in the same condition it was earlier that day. The next day we where leaving and we instructed the attendant at the desk about no maid service and he said was because we had the don't disturb sign out. I knew this was not true because when we returned that night I saw the sign, still on the side requesting maid service. Very poor service, and not a pleasant experience. I can tell you we will not return to this hotel.
- John (8/5): - The room was spacious. The bed was too high and did not have a roll away bed. The light over the sink worked intermittently. The registration was not cold enough and the room was real dim even with the lights on.
- Mandy (2/5): - No hot water in shower. Room had not been cleaned. Dirt and bugs on the floor. Live animal trap with rotten food outside the room. Trash littered the stairs and walkways. People next to us smoking weed outside their room. Air conditioning did not cool.
- Darryl (2/5): Not a place to stay - The guy in the office was rude and mean there was roaches everywhere
- Jose (2/5): Ok - I didn't stay
- Black (2/5): - They have bed bugs and Roche's. The clerk was jerking during check in, and check out (which we were early for).
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Ice machines didn’t work. Shower valve stripped and drain didn’t work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love this place. Stay there every time we are in the area
- Alesha (10/5): - The only issue was noise no one respects anyone while they sleep !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was very spacious and nice.. Bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub in it that's nice. Also the location is pretty good. Food, and stores are pretty close the the hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very traditional and the service was great ! Checking in and out was very fast and convenient.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The most terrible hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my entire life. Absolutely filthy, our room keys didn’t work, and our door handle was broken. We couldn’t even get into our room one night. Waiting outside in the freezing cold. Can’t believe we actually had to pay to sleep at this hotel.
- J (10/5): - It was what I expected..
Have stayed there before.
Staff was friendly
- Sandra (6/5): - Everyone was friendly, and it is great central location to everything. However the hotel is in desperate need need of a remodel.
- Christine (8/5): - For the price it was fine very roomy
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was very nice and easy to get to
Cabinet was broken and never could get refrigerator to work
- Local (8/5): - No ice machine and too many cops! The lady at check-in was so nice and helpful..
- Jesus (8/5): reat - It was good I have no complaints
- Edward (6/5): - It was just a lot of furniture, and it needed more pressure on the shower head.
- karen (2/5): Well, roaches really love this place! - Don't let the outside picture fool ya. It fooled me for years. I've always wanted to stay here; I'm sure in its hey-day, it was THE place. That's not the case now. We were put in a handicap room (we didn't ask for one) and I don't like to ever take a handicap room and have a person that needs these types of facilities have to do without. I used the facilities first thing and there was no door on the bathroom! We got our room changed to 3 doors down. Had to have card keys re-keyed 2 times to get it right. On to the nightmare now. Room was dark, musty smelling, and filled with furniture that made it almost impossible to get around the room. There were lamps with no bulbs (and we never got any bulbs), and the lampshades had been damaged and slashed, but never fear, they were covered with plastic! Furniture was dusty and you could tell it hadn't been cleaned. There was trash behind one night stand, so apparently said night stand had never been pulled out to get to the debris. Bathroom was just ok (at least there was a door) but whoever did the tile work was intoxicated heavily I believe. I took a shower next morning and water pressure was great, but I was a little taken aback when I was joined in the shower by 2 small roaches (they were hiding in folds of the shower curtain). YUCK! The manager was abusive in his manner and acted like it was a horrible chore to re-key our key cards and he did nothing about missing bulbs and never asked about our stay. Please stay elsewhere.
- E (2/5): - I was charged more at the location then what Expedia hard reserved the room for. Also didn’t need the baggie of drugs left behind I found in the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Falling apart leaking water from upstairs into are room a lot of water .unsafe drive way load just a bad deal
