Guest Reviews
- Catherine (5/5): - What breakfast? Rate was excessive and advertising trough your site was misleading.
- macdonald (4/5): -
- Cornelius (5/5): - The heater was way too noisy
- Pablo (7/5): -
- Lindsay (9/5): -
- Bill (7/5): Exceptional customer service and a very convenient location. - The owners of the property live on site and are amazingly friendly and accommodating. Exceptional customer service. It's not a "didn't like", but this is a budget property. You are getting what you pay for, so people need to measure expectations as it relates to fit and finish of the rooms.
- Anna (7/5): I go for a place to lay my head thats clean and friendly staff and they never disappoint - Its a little dated but very clean and staff is very friendly. I go there alot to visit relatives never disappointed. The beds are comfy and the location is good right off highway. The tv was a little fuzzy on some channels but no big deal they have wifi.
- Ambreen (9/5): We really enjoyed - Very clean and comfortable It’s convenient to locate and staff was very accommodating
- Kristen (10/5): -
- Steve (7/5): Very quiet and peaceful! Would stay again! - Although it's an older motel, it's very clean, air conditioner worked great. Set back from the road so no road noise really. Staff house cleaned after the first night, fresh linens and towels. Really clean and peaceful! Appearance. Could use an outside makeover. But as stated, the room and bed were very clean and more than sufficient for an overnight or two. Lovely hostess as well.
- Stanley (5/5): Would stay there again in the summer. - there wasn't any breakfast. It was a very cold night and there were no extra blankets in the room. we put both bed covers on one bed to stay warm. The heater was very noisy when it was on.
- Greg (9/5): -
- Jane (1/5): -
- Joanne (8/5): - It was very clean, older fixtures of course but the price was right. There was only a microwave to heat water , however going for coffee at the local coffee stop led us to find out about the beautiful scenic Dam so no complaints!!
- James (10/5): - Nice cozy place
- Delores (4/5): - We stayed one night, room had a musty smell. Towels very small and thin, tub mat was a hand towel. Seems they have hard water as tub and shower curtain were brownish stained. On a brighter note bed was comfortable. Parking right at your door, which we couldn’t use as someone parked their truck and trailer giving no room to park our car. Friendly staff…
- George (2/5): - This place is terrible. Dust & dirt, large box in the corner of the room, a child sock on the floor, bathroom sink was clogged and there was no curtain. This place looks like it is in the 50's & $110 a night is a ripoff in the highest.Bad, bad bad
- Barbara (2/5): -
- John (8/5): - Friendly
- Georges (8/5): - Convenient location with comfortable beds, quiet at night and good heating for the cooler nights
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was quick and great stay 1 night only
- Brian (7/5): Super nice people running a basic but clean motel - Location
Staff Rooms were fine but not everything worked (lamps, some outlets)
Lots of bare walls
Website says “coffee maker in all rooms”
But this was untrue: had to go to front desk for coffee
- Teresa (4/5): - very dated, no coffee maker in room. very few towels and poor quality, air conditioner very noisy. The bed was very comfortable which was the only thing good about this motel
- Oliana (4/5): - Sheets were stained and things all over the floor.
- Morewood (7/5): -
- JAMES (10/5): Amazing motel with lots ot amenities - We stayed one night, and it was a great experience! Will definitely be back when on trips up north.
- Christine (3/5): wifi not working and no phone signal - There was no phone signal and the wifi stopped working a couple of hours after arrival. I booked a hotel with wifi so I could work and plan my journey.
The place is dated and tired.
Friendly welcoming staff. Reliable wifi.
- K (8/5): -
- sylvie (10/5): - Very clean, big room. Outdated, but clean
- Melanie (5/5): Passable -
- Jacqueline (8/5): A good, affordable little motel - We stayed for the weekend for a couple's getaway while our son was at a camp about an hour away. It was a simple room with white walls, but very clean and comfortable. The flooring was nice and updated looking. We chose it for the price.
All appliances were unplugged except for the fridge. There was no coffee maker. We don't know if/where the BBQ is. Very small soap and shampoo packages for minimal waste. Garbage and recycling bins were in the room. The TV has a Roku remote.
There is another review mentioning a curry smell - that is in the front desk as the owner family lives on site.
There are two very small towns nearby - recommend the chip shop to eat out, and the restaurant next door is for breakfast and lunch closing at 2. Local businesses have limited hours because the towns are so small.
From the description I was expecting young families, but it was very quiet.
Would recommend for a nice stay on a budget.
- S (6/5): Convenient, relatively clean, wifi worked well as did the streaming for Prime. Would book again. - Very close to the Algonquin access point at Round Lake. The fella at the desk waited for us to arrive (we were a late arrival) which was greatly appreciated! Artwork above the beds is very interesting to say the least. Made the mistake of looking under the bed... hasn't been cleaned in awhile. The "artwork" is interesting... but odd. I both liked it and disliked it (lol). Didn't feel it was worth the $180 but the convenience to our access point was a big selling point.
- Derek (10/5): - Convenient location. Friendly owner. Room was functional and clean. We enjoyed our stay.
- Stacey (6/5): Needs a little more attention to detail when cleaning but otherwise a great stay for value. - Easy check in and check out. Staff was very friendly. Beds were comfortable. Appeared to be clean When we moved the bed there was quite a bit of garbage left from the previous guest that hadn’t been swept up. Otherwise was very clean. Very dated.
- Brian (10/5): Bike trip 2025 - Right of the road. The best bed I have slept on this trip.
- Black (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (7/5): Good - Family run operation - Lovely people :)
- Karen (8/5): - The owner was friendly and helpful.
It was quite, easy to park and convenient to our destination.
Nothing fancy but clean, everything worked and my bed was comfy.
- Emily (8/5): - Wish the coffee pot was still in the room
- g (8/5): Small town Motel - Good location in a small town. Basic older Motel. Comfy beds . Park in front of your room. Just off main Hwy 11. Has a few amenities in town. Grocery , Gas etc. 10 min to the next town for Restaurants .
- Jeremy (8/5): - Staff were polite and room was spacious.
- Sandra (5/5): Great location and friendly but room stunk - Close to venue
Parking great Room stunk
Not enough blankets, pillows need to be replaced
- Amy (6/5): Just perfect for what I was there for: to sleep and get up the next day and be at an event. - I didn't utilize this. the skirting and the bed frame platforms were filthy. There wasn't a stopper for the bathtub. There was cigarete butts on the window sill of the room. Place smelled like old cigarette smoking. Black hair on the towels.
- Lobanova (3/5): Poor - No comment bad smell , dirty beds , dirty bathroom from old that can’t get cleaned, one is good not cold in winter
- MATTHEW (10/5): - Check in was quick and easy. Rooms are quaint and clean. Beds were comfortable. Most motels beds are like boards.
Room was chilly but there was a heater. No curtains on bathroom windows which i thought was strange. Rooms are very plain. Nothing to write home about but a place to sleep in a pinch.
- sutherland (10/5): - North bay was full due to hockey and this was the next place available,.. fast and efficient and friendly
- Sue (2/5): - Nothing we will not be staying there again
- Varagunan (6/5): - This property needs a good renovation. Smelly rooms. Old and torn bedsheets. Bad mattress and pilows. Very old towel.
- Jack (6/5): - Shower curtain had mold on it..other than that, it was a typical private non francize motel. Rooms were clean, but dated
- Bhanu (6/5): - .
- Sean (4/5): - If you want to sleep in a room that's fine size wise but everything is cleaned using curry, enjoy.
- Anusha (4/5): - The room has insects, towels smell and the mattresss had a big dip in the middle. In general the mattresses were in very bad shape.
- Ray (3/5): Poor - Location. New flooring, bed comfortable I had no hot water at the vanity sink. None. I didn't check the shower. Signs everywhere to save on hydro like a/c, tv and lights. Common sense but maybe not to everyone. When there was no hotwater, the signs were annoying.
- Ian (8/5): Comfort is the Name of the Game - This was very possibly the most comfortable hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. Aside from the bed being definitely the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever experienced, the whole vibe of the hotel was comfortable, from the decor, to the fact that it was so quiet at night that, when I went outside, I could hear my cigarette burning (don’t smoke, it’s a terrible habit). I got in late on my business trip, and usually that’s a recipe for still feeling wound up when I go to bed, and staring at the ceiling. Not the case here, I fell asleep as fast as I do in my own bed at home, and stayed out for the night.
It’s a bit ramshackle; the lever on the toilet stuck, and the screen in the windows had the odd hole, but all of that was a small price to pay for just how cozy and homey it felt. It’s also a small price to pay for the small price to pay. You are not going to find a better hotel for this price.
- Sowmya (9/5): Superb - Simple and basic needs are met. Coffee available anytime. Very hospitable owner
- Gail (3/5): Very overpriced for what we got. - Uncomfortable beds. General poor quality of the room.
- Nick (6/5): Pleasant - $1 sodas in the lobby which is crazy anything that price anymore, the dinner smells great really if I have any recommendations that they maybe get a restaurant or Tali service lobby sled great.
- Evan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judylaine (4/5): - Bit of a dump. Itty bitty towels. Beds too soft. Not very clean. Toilet didn’t,function well. Find a better place although you will pay more.
- Derek (7/5): Nice place to rest your head - Great location if you're looking to do outdoor activities Amenities are dated but functional, so not a big issue for me but may be for others
- Richard (7/5): Very clean, well run motel off what used to be Highway 11 in the Almaguin Highlands. Easy to get to. - Very clean--much above "motel" standard. Staff (the owner-manager?) was friendly and helpful. Price was appropriate. Everything worked. For our purposes the location was great. It was easy to get to. Now that Highway 11 has been diverted the traffic on its road makes it easier to get into and out of. We've stayed there before and it's a motel-class accommodation so our expectations were met. The beds are only so-so comfortable. The toilet and the door lock were wonky, the A/C adequate. Nothing that would stop us staying there again or that would make us think we were overcharged.
- Napper (6/5): Pleasant -
- Susan (7/5): We survived and were quite close to our destination. - There was no breakfast offered. We booked as the ad said there was a bbq to use and a coffee pot. They were not there. A coffee pot and if you advertise a bbq for guests use, then there should be one! Please and thankyou!
- Andrea (6/5): - Nice clean rustic room. Nothing fancy but very comfortable beds. Good night's sleep!
- Kate (7/5): Good -
- Kenneth (8/5): Very good -
- Mehraban (4/5): It was okay not as advertised or expected. - The location was nice as there were lots of waterfront and areas for swimming. The air conditioner was not working, the beds were uncomfortable, it wasn’t very clean and there was no hairdryer even though they said there was one in each room.
- Vinodhini (1/5): Bad - That place was a total nightmare! The bathroom lock was broken, and the AC didn't work. I had the worst night ever. I'm never going back there, even though the staff was nice.
- Frantisek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hassan (10/5): - Very fun experience. Would recommend for anyone looking for a secluded and private motel near a small town.
- donna (2/5): - The sheets were very old and stained
- Anna (1/5): This place is disgustin. Sleeping in my car was definitely a better option. - Nothing!!! It just happed to be the last place with an available room that weekend. Now we know why. Stinky, stuffy room. AC hardly did anything. Everything is old , dirty and moldy. The towels smelled of urine and mildew.
The sheets looked like washed out sheets your grandmother used 30 years ago. Beds likely just as old, uncomfortable and so smelly. Disgusting.
- Silvia (8/5): - The towels smells bad when used the second day
- Floyd (10/5): Exceptional - Rooms are all renovated, cold a/c, clean and comfortable, lots of very hot water, nice sized fridge, friendly staff and the wifi worked great!
- Marilyn (6/5): It's not fancy, but neither am I - Price was good. It was clean and it was very quiet. Receptionist was friendly and professional. Most important, got a good night's sleep. Kinda of threw me that no curtains on bathroom window but then saw that it was on edge of ravine so someone would have to be in the trees to see anything. And given my physique, would have served them right Hahaha
- Donna (7/5): Good -
- Carolyn (2/5): Very poor - Staff were lovely
Very clean No coffee maker
No coffee cups
Only double beds
Air conditioning too loud
Very old & tired
Bathroom mirror deglazed - couldn't see
No fan in bathroom
Pillows were terrible
- Reece (2/5): - We stayed during the week and found the room was clean when we first got there seemed like new paint and floors so that was nice but the wifi was so slow it was not usable for the tv to load anything. The A/C unit on Max could not keep the room fully cool it was colder outside then in our room. The water pressure was better then I expected for the shower. But when the morning we were leaving I woke up with pink eye from the sheets was not impressed. For the $110 I had to spend to stay it was not worth it.
- Sharon (5/5): Passable - Location was in a good proximity to where we needed to go. Bathroom door did not close. No window coverings on Bathroom window.
- Rosemary (2/5): Highly disappointing - Location The property is tired and sad looking Any renovations to the room were amateurish in repairs and poorly done Windows dirty back window full of bugs and scree broken TV and air conditioning old worn out Queen bed mattress had a big sink hole in the middle Bathroom very low toilet cupboards tired and worn Shower curtain spotted with dark spots shower curtain rod rusted Tub had rush stains Most disturbing was the bank card tap machine main office had clear tape all around it suspicious to me it being illegal Not a place I will ever return to
- Nilesh (10/5): - Great service & easy going staff…
- Paul (8/5): Once again the Algonquin met our expectations! - Great clean location near Algonquin Park access!
- Christopher (8/5): Helpful Management - The manager was excellent and very helpful. we arrived late it was no problem at all.
- Tammbrey (8/5): - I was there 7 years ago, and I was looking forward to a colourful room. I miss the murals! I could tell the paint was done recently. Hope there will be new murals next time.
Windows and air conditioner filter could use a good cleaning, but otherwise it was very nice.
- Lance (10/5): - The owners are very nice amd accommodating. Been staying here once a year over the last 7yeats due to a disc golf tournament that happens in South River!!
- Brian (4/5): - If you want to impress your lady don't bring her here. One thing is they have a portable heater that kept dripping out. Second there is a coffee maker but no coffee or creamer or cups or cabinet to put these things in, these things are standard in the industry. Icing on the cake happened in the morning the power was out so no water to flush the toilet and no shower for the wife. I think there was a scheduled power outage since I saw Hydro One working on the lines down the street in any case no discount was offered.
- Thompson (9/5): Superb - Very convenient for ATV The stay was very good
- Eric (8/5): - The motel is clean and close to where we were wanted to visit. Quite and nice. No shampoo.
- Sheila (9/5): Superb -
- Terry (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and quick to react when we had a minor heating issue. We thought it strange that there was a coffee maker in the room but no coffee or cups. Overall the room was perfect and at a great price point for our use.
- Hareesh (1/5): Bad - On the way to the hotel, I got call from hotel reception and mentioned reserved room is not available.
Bad experience.
- Trishita (8/5): Very good -
- Niteesh (1/5): Not recommended - Location is way far from algonquin park Overall bad experience. Room had smell and felt damp.
- Katia (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (1/5): Bad -
- Lang (7/5): Fine place to sleep for the night. - Convenient location to highway, very friendly staff, typical small roadside motel. Was about a 10 minute walk, alongside the highway, to nearest restaurant.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A perfect place to rest! - Quiet, clean, quaint, and comfy.
- Yehiam (7/5): Good -
- Vahid (4/5): Disappointing -
