Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): - Very quiet, the atmosphere to be as a couple and as a family.
- Dalye (10/5): - The place is very secluded, and there is no wifi in the 'tree houses', but it is very peaceful! There is a bit of a drive on a dirt road. You could get through it in a sedan, but it would be very slow. The water does smell in the 'tree houses' but there are showers near the restaurant you can use where the water doesn't smell. I don't know the reason for this. Overall, it was a great stay.
- Nick (10/5): Great Escape - Remote and off the beaten path. We should have bought a cooler and food items to grill.
- Sarah (6/5): - I wanted this to be an amazing stay, but it is honestly the only place in the whole two week trip that we wouldn’t go back to. The last 40 minutes is driving 10-15 kph (6-9 mph) on rocky dirt-pack; probably better if you have a 4x4 but just really slow driving in a regular car. The location is beautiful, once you finally get there. When checking in, the woman in the front office spoke English and told us about the monkey tour ($15) and the boat tour ($20-25; 40 min round trip ride to a sand bar). Everything (tours, meals) are paid at checkout, so it was quite a shock to learn the boat tour was actually $113, and that the woman who checked us in and told us the prices was not available to explain the miscommunication. Also, the shower water smelled like rotten eggs (maybe a sewer issue?), so you have to breathe through your mouth when showering and have a strongly scented shampoo. I don’t know for sure if it was every cabin, but it smelled when we walked past the next-door cabin also. Also, there were three very thin stray dogs that hung around our cabin in the evening; they didn’t seem menacing, and maybe stayed near our place because we were the only people on the property and they were hoping for food, but I did wait to go to the car until they’d wandered off. The cabins are in the coconut tree forest, so try to park your car away from the trees if you can. Our rental got hit by one of the frequently falling coconuts and broke the rear wiper. Overall, not recommended.
- Frank (10/5): Beyond away from it all - Way out in the outskirts past a sugarcane field, tranquil and nothing but bliss, completely isolated from it all, they also have their own gas station
- Mario (8/5): - I loved the scenery. The property was very peaceful and quiet. The property had security which makes a tourist feel more at ease. The staff was 10 stars, if possible. Very friendly, helpful, made themselves available when needed, they called to check on us and ask if we wanted to place an order for dinner before the kitchen closed. They were great! We enjoyed the pool as well. They even made themselves available after 10 at night when we got there late and they gave us directions into the property.
Dislikes... The road into the property is a bit rough. I highly recommend a jeep or larger SUV. It is roughly a 30 min drive from the highway to the property and that is because the road is rough terrain of dirt, rock and holes so you have to go 5-10 mph to get there, and don't arrive at night because you will get lost. But after driving it once during the day you will know the way. I had read some reviews where people complained about how all they heard were crickets at night, and didn't have amenities, etc etc... We'll be prepared, no fridge, no cable TV, no technology friendly environment... It is like camping but that is the whole idea, right?
I enjoyed my stay but the drive was a headache.
I would definitely come back but with a vehicle that is better equipped for dirt/Rocky terrain.
Thank you for the hospitality!!
- Juan (10/5): - Everything was absolutely beautiful! :-) I would highly recommend a small refrigerator and small microwave in the small cabins; it does not make send to have a BBQ without placement of food... another recommendation the pool temperature was extremely hot, since the water was never circulation meaning the pump should be ON during the day! :-) beautiful place and amazing staff...
- Courtney (8/5): - We didn’t get to stay at this hotel. We were really looking forward to it, and once in the compound, it was beautiful. However, the 11 miles of road from the main road to the compound were almost unpassable for us due to the storm. It was VERY remote. So many large and dangerous potholes, I knew they would be impassable at night and were getting worse due to the rain. You must have a 4 wheel drive and drive 5mph to get there safely.
- JORGE (8/5): - N/A
- Verified traveler (8/5): Second trip here for multiple nights - This place is a little off the beaten path. You will def need a car to get there. This is my families second time staying there. The views are amazing. The monkey tour we will do ever time. This time we did the deep sea fishing trip. It was very expensive. We are not a fishing family we just wanted to try it. We did get fish and the restaurant cooked it for us which was actually not part of the deal but it was very kind of them to do that. We love the lady at the front desk, so kind. We will go again and always do the monkey tour. The pool is lovely. Only negatives, room is poorly lite at night and the restaurant menu is somewhat sparse. That being said we would still return.
- Vero (10/5): Great experience - FYI: my family and I are city people from NYC. When we first got to the lodge it was dark. Pitch dark. We have to admit , we were nervous and thought what did we get ourselves into. The staff was very pleasant. Reassured us that we were very safe and secure. We got to our rooms, it was very clean and spacious. Loved it. The next morning when we were able to see. The place is amazing. We experience the spider monkey sanctuary, which was a one of a kind experience. (cage free) we took a ride on the water and experienced viewing the different areas of the bay. It was totally an amazing experience and I would go back with friends.
- Mary (6/5): Not worth it! - If you are into deserted cricket quiet areas this is the place for you. There is no view from the room. Room is clean. staff is nice. But way to quiet for me. There is no ambiance at all. To get there is a mission dirt roads (you need a off road vehicle) no signs you have to asked locals for directions not worth it.
- José Carlos (10/5): Excellent - All was Amazing the staff and the rooms... Simply Amazing
