Guest Reviews
- Lowell (10/5): - Great, classic, old hotel. Over 100 years old! Maybe is ready for some renovation but I wouldn’t want to change ambiance of the place. Not a lot of dining or shopping options outside the hotel but a nice place to spend a few days around the Glacier area. Nice golf course for the golfers!
- Kurt (10/5): - An old facility, no doubt grand in its day, which has been renovated over time. Some of the hardware is antiquated but still serviceable. The building still hosts events & conferences.
- Komal (10/5): - Old world charm, beautiful quiet property, live music in the evenings, cosy places bu the fireside, good restaurants
- gail (10/5): - The Hotel is historical beauty. The best living room in the world with fantastic music, Blackfeet Indian culture, fantastic staff ,food, ambiance was amazing. Architecture is unbelievable.
Loved our stay
- Nickolas (8/5): - Beautiful grounds, excellant service. Restaurant food was not the same quality as the hotel.
- Britt (10/5): - Beautiful location and amazing historic property
- Kenneth (6/5): - No A/C; No television; poor internet
- Randy (8/5): - N/A
- ELIZABETH M (8/5): - It was really cool to stay at the historic lodge. Rooms
- ASHOK (6/5): - Poor bathroom - miniature sink, shower stall. Indifferent restaurant service.
- Mark (6/5): - This 100+ year old hotel has a great history. But with a 100 year old building comes some setbacks. No TV, AC or refrigerator in the room. Tiny shower with no shelving or hooks in the bathroom.
The lobby is the reason to visit!! So fun and beautiful. The rooms are extremely basic and a little disappointing for the price.
- Susan (10/5): - Internet access was horrible. No coffee in the room.
- Emily (10/5): - I loved the authentic lodge and how it has been maintained. The rooms were quaint and functional but not fancy... just right. The main restaurant had plenty of room and there was never a wait. The food was exceptional, both dinner and breakfast. The gounds were well maintained and the view was absolutely beautiful!
- Rebecca (4/5): - Our room was on the bottom floor overlooking the parking lot. I believe they gave us the worst room due to using a third party reservation system. Old, dirty and very noisy.
- Linda (6/5): - Knew it was an historic property but hoped for a better experience.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Wish we stayed elsewhere - The lodge room accommodations are severely outdated and very uncomfortable. Only one staff member was nice and seemed to want to help or even be there.
- Susan (6/5): - Historic property and common areas interesting; No A/C in common areas or rooms; no elevator. Fans provided; Rooms are true to a lodge from early 1930 and convenient to Glacier Park. But must use stairs to levels 2 and 3.; No other food options nearby and rooms did not have refrigerators or microwaves for your own food.
Staff very nice and helpful; Bellhops carry your luggage up to levels 2 and 3. but you must be able to maneuver steps.
- Karen (8/5): - It is great to stay at a historic property and we appreciated the historic value. However, that brought with it very outdated bathrooms and a lot of noise from the room upstairs. It was a good place to stay for a night or two
- Lawrence (8/5): - Nostalgic old time hotel - no a/c, refrigerator, tv, windows that open, very small sink, old style shower, no tub. Wonderful bed, mattress and pillows. Slept with windows open with temperature around 55 degrees. Limited menu.
- Tori (8/5): - A lot of historic charm.
- DON (2/5): - I checked in at 4:30 pm and checked out at 4:40 pm because we had a bunch of dead bugs in our room. We reserved a queen bed a got s full for two people
- Tim (10/5): - Location....
- Kelly (10/5): Room with a view - Pleasantly surprised with the size of the room. In many historic park lodges the rooms are small and noisy, this one was large and quiet. The charming character of the lodge was welcoming and the food in both the lounge and dining room was excellent.
- Sheila (10/5): - Amazing views
- Gary (8/5): - Beautiful and nature
- Nicky (10/5): - Beautiful historic hotel
- Yubo (6/5): - Our rooms were on the 3rd floor with tiny window. No a/c and was hot and uncomfortable to sleep. Bathroom were tiny
- Glenn (10/5): - Always enjoy staying here… peace n quiet
- Patricia (10/5): Classic Lodge - Such a gorgeous setting, old-time lodge flavor & history. Beautiful hanging baskets perennial garden.
- Hilary (10/5): - This property is very unique with an old school lodge feel. Puzzles were out on tables to complete and guests were sitting by the fire place and around the lobby playing games and cards. We usually spend time watching TV late in the evening so this was a nice change. We also got a room that had been newly renovated. I loved the decor!
- Anna (4/5): I wish I hadn’t booked this room - There was no air conditioning. Lights were on outside window all night lighting up the entire room even with the curtains closed. I could hear neighbors open pill bottles, zipping/unzipping suitcases, babies squealing way down the hallway. Big crack around connecting door to the next room 2” at bottom. No tvs. Sounds echo off of all the hard floors. Bathroom floor and dink were dirty. Outside was beautiful!
- Steve (6/5): - If you are into disconnecting from everything this would be the place, limited food choices other than the hotel and a couple places down the road like Brownies. The food is good at the hotel, but priced very high. The rooms are nothing to write home about , this place was build in 1913 so cool ambiance however the rooms look worn out, carpet frayed, dirty, small shower, sinks that look like 100 + yrs old. For the price, I would give the room a 2 star rating
- Renee' (10/5): Great fun hotel - Very cute hotel. Its a little loud at night as the floors are hard wood. I loved the traditional hotel but it did feel clean and somewhat updates. Minimal counter space in the bathroom though made it a little tough to get ready. Good entertainment in the great hall and just a very relaxing safe atmosphere. Felt comfortable letting the kids wonder around and they had a fun scavenger hunt for the kids. Puzzles around and live music in the evening. Unique experience; I would definitely go back again.
- Kathleen (10/5): - A great historical place to stay!
- Linda (10/5): - Thank you.
- Debbie (10/5): She’s a gem - This is a historic lodge. It is beauty. We were in the “annex”. The only complaint is the room above us was noisy. Every step, every chair movement and conversations were noisy. I don’t think there is any way to avoid it without compromising the charm of the vintage setting
- Regina (10/5): - Such a clean quaint cabin with a porch to relax on after a long day sightseeing and hiking. I wish I could have stayed longer!
- Leonard (6/5): - While the lobby and timber construction are breathtaking, as are the views around the lodge, the rooms are uninviting, sparse, and WAY out of date….like by 100 years. They are small, floors are wooden with no rugs, the electric outlets do not accept an 3-prong plug, and the bathrooms pitifully small. Cruise ship showers are luxuriously large in comparison, and the tiny sink with no cabinet forces you yo use the toilet tank and seat for bathroom supplies. Thankfully, it is at least equipped with WIFI (unlike the Yellowstone Lodge) because within and around these mountainous national parks there is NO cell service whatsoever, so sending pics to family and friends is out of the question in most places. If alternate lodging options can be found without imposing to much of a distance penalty I would recommend it unless a) you simply must check off the ‘lodge box’ on your wish list or b) if you desperately want a tase of life in the early 20th century.
- Sue (10/5): Sreview - One quick night. Beautiful historic location
- Larry (10/5): - nice building and grounds
helpful, friendly staff
- Jane (2/5): - The room was on the 3rd floor. Very hot. Unbearable. They provided a fan, but only one electrical outlet in the room. We had to request an extension cord. The bathroom was so small. Overall the room was very small for 2 adults and 2 children.
- Janice (10/5): - Good location.
- Laurie (10/5): - Take a step back in time to an old time resort vacation. Activities for the children on the lawn. The beautiful garden. On site dining and gift shop. Seating areas to relax. The building itself is amazing and the staff was very helpful. I really enjoyed this hotel.
- Julie (10/5): - Be aware that it is a very old, historical property so no elevators. They do, however, have bellboys to carry your 50lb suitcases up to the third floor. Extremely beautiful inside and out.
- Kaitlyn (10/5): Loved this old gem! - We loved Glacier Park Lodge. It’s over 100 years old, so if you like fancy and modern, this isn’t for you. However, everything was clean, quiet, and beautiful. The staff is more than helpful with travel stuff. Highly recommend.
- Joseph (6/5): - The lobby was awesome. The people at the front desk were great and very helpful. Room was eh. Needs updated. Lumpy uncomfortable bed. No AC or tv. For the price of the room and what we apent on dinner and breakfast, i would expect a nice mattress
- Alan (6/5): - The Glacier Park Lodge was a wonderful and beautiful Lodge of many historical items.
- Cathy (10/5): - Beautifully preserved pi ce of history
- Barbara (10/5): - East Glacier Lodge was very historic and comfortable. Lobby was huge with many areas to gather and relax. Staff was amazing and waiting to help in any way. Food was very good and huckleberry margaritas were the best. Close to National park access.
- Ruth (10/5): - The lobby and surroundings were beautiful. Loved the history and retro feel. Rooms were fine, but must remember the hotel is over 100 years old. I would come again.
- Michelle (6/5): Rustic but beautiful old hotel - Beautiful old historic hotel. No tv, air, etc but that is ok. Beautiful scenery and location. Lobby is awesome. Restaurant was disappointing for the price. Would stay again just for the experience. Rustic rooms.
- Catherine (10/5): A classic national park resort - A classic resort, incredible architecture and gracious grounds. I love how there are many activities available outside.
- Braydon (10/5): - Unique beautiful place!
- Mendie (10/5): A step back in time! - A step back in time! Glacier Park Lodge has some amazing views and a great place to stay!
- Terrence (10/5): - Perfect location and service
- Jeana (2/5): - Neat experience and friendly staff.
- Barbara (2/5): -
Drove cross country and due to car accident mid-trip (which resulted in hospitalizaton), we attempted to cancel this 3 night reservation just days after cancellation window date. Glacier lodge was unwilling to work with us in anyway. Charged full amount. All other hotels that we had booked either gave 100% refund or charged for 1 night stay only. Offered Glacier documentation to verify accident occurred. Very disappointed in Glacier Lodge response.
- Timothy (8/5): Stay at this Lodge you want a rustic experience - Be prepared for no elevator and tipping a bellhop to carry your luggage up the stairs. No modern conveniences in the room and WiFi was spotty. NO TV. Two beds, a desk and two chairs. No air conditioning but a fan was provided. Only six hangers in the closet. People over six feet will have to bend over to take a shower. Windows too high for a 5' 5" person to see out of. Public spaces classy but what you would expect for a 110 year old lodge. Two nice but expensive restaurants and the ambience was nice. The deck off the Great Hall was welcoming and a great place to relax. In front of the huge fireplace was a good place to take a nap, as we saw many people doing so. The sky bridge was always busy during the evening with people playing games.
- Lisa (6/5): - We loved the nostalgia of the lodge and appreciated the customer service by the Bellman and the front desk. The room was very scarce , No chairs to sit on no couch and the room was large enough to accommodate it for the price that we . The space had absolutely no amenities.
- Evan (6/5): - This is a historical experience, not a luxury spot. You can tell this place is struggling with quality management. The employees are super nice. Bathroom in rooms are less quality than county jail.
- Juanita (10/5): - The history in this hotel is amazing! There is information posted about it's beginnings and the staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly. I saw the Aurora for the first time there! If you have a chance, stay there! The views can't be beat.
- Julie (10/5): - The rooms are dated but rustic. Great location and loved the walk ways around the lodge.
- David (10/5): - The rooms were nice-the people were wonderful!!!
- Carolyn (10/5): - Although the temps soared to the high 80s in Glacier National Park during the days, the evenings were cooler and there was a fan to move the still air in our room. The quaint old hotel was the first built by the railroad to transport guests from the east to the new national park and it is still a perfect accommodation, even without TV and A/C!
- Debra (2/5): - Our room was absolutely filthy!
- eddie (8/5): - NO elevator
- Scot (10/5): - Hotel architecture is great
- David (10/5): - Even though the property is a Historical site that's 150 years old it was very very nice.
- Liezel (10/5): - It’s a 100 old hotel no AC. You can open the window for fresh air. I love the ambience of the hotel.
- Michelle (10/5): - The hotel is very close to two medicine entrance. There are restaurant, coffee shop, and gift shop inside the hotel. Very convenient. The room is space. The bathroom in my room is on a raised level. So just need to be careful to watch my steps to using bathroom.
- Kevin (10/5): - A fantastic historical time capsule. The activist and gardens on the property were fantastic. The restaurant was amazing for dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed the common spaces and the entire lodge. What a treat. The shower was a little small and charging outlets were limited, a small inconvenience against the rest of the amazing amenities.
- Lynn (4/5): - Had a death in the family and had to cancel our trip. The cancellation was several days past the deadline so was hoping for an exception to your policy. Was denied and charged the full reservation for the room. Very disappointed.
- Nancy (4/5): - Rooms were so hot in august on 3rd floor we couldnt sleep. They had a fan, but were out of extension cords so didnt help. For coffee had to stand in long line at shop and they overcharged us every time. If it was cooler would have been fine. No elevator, but they dont tell you that. There was a man with oxygen staying on 3rd floor?! So many little things they could fix to make it comfortable at $300 a night. Would not recommend
- Katherine (10/5): - The hotel is over 100 years old and had no AC and NO Elevators to get to 2nd & 3rd floor room and very limited number of first floor rooms. rooms were very small and shower was very small, like telephone booth small. Dinner was pricey and service slow but it was nice to experience and breakfast buffet at 6:30 am was excellent. Parking is down a long hill from hotel entrance and a steep walk to bring car up to leave property or move car after check in. We used Sun Tours for our East Glacier full day tour and they picked up and dropped off at front door. Highly recommend taking a guided tour. I would stay again due to how beautiful it was inside and nightly live music.
- Steven L (4/5): - The lodge common areas were unique and awesome. Our room had soggy bathroom floor and rat poop behind the bed table! And there was an animal in either the ceiling or walls that was chewing constantly. I think I heard him finally chew through because I heard him scampering in the attic.
Food was good. Water pressure was excellent with plenty of hot water. And don’t put older people in the basement! The beds were comfortable.
Cleaning ladies need to do a more complete job of cleaning the bathrooms in the common areas. We love the lodge and will come back again and hope we get a cleaner room with a non spongy bath floor.
- Jess (10/5): - Great stay at a one of the grande dames of the railroad era. Kitchen was too slow in getting food out
- Kathleen (10/5): - The staff was excellent!
- elizabeth (10/5): - Lovely old hotel. Room was very nice except for miniscule shower. I could not even turn around in it. Historical tour was very informative. Gorgeous grounds and hotel. No elevator though and we were put on the 3rd floor. All employees were very nice. Still trying to figure out what the tunnel was at the hotel.
- Linda (10/5): - This is beautiful old lodge but lacked amenities. We were on the third floor without an elevator which is a problem for two people in thieir 70s. Our room did not have a tv or air conditioning and the bathroom had old linoleum that was worn out which would be a simple upgrade. Not an expensive place to stay either.
- Edward (6/5): great looking hotel but Sirely needs updated - bathroom was disgusting . no elevator for handicap people. mattresses were soft. amenities were good, staff was helpful on first floor. bathroom Definitely needs updated as shower was a joke!! dogs and entertainment were good.
- Annette (8/5): Beautiful historic lodge - I loved this charming rustic lodge. It had everything we needed there. There were mountain views and yard games to play. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. At check in Kathy was very nice and Adam the bellhop was super helpful and kind. We would stay there again.
- John (10/5): - The bellhop gave a very informative and entertaining talk about the hotel.
- Joanne (8/5): - Booked two nights under two different reservations and they could not accommodate allowing us to stay in the same room. We had to switch rooms. Staff upon original check in was not to friendly. But most other staff we encountered had been friendly.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent lodge stay - Great lodge with a friendly staff that is knowledgeable about the area and what is available around the area.
- Rebecca (2/5): - Very noisy, bathrooms are small - shower is stand up & very small. Sink was old ‘ very small—had to put toiletries on back of commode. No way a large person could fit in the shower - and our room was supposed to be a mobility room even though we didn’t need it. Could hear everything neighbors were saying or doing. Every step squeaks & very loud walking & talking. Good in restaurant very expensive - 35 & up
- Lorene (10/5): - A lovely old property that makes you feel like you've gone back in time. The restaurant was good and there were many outdoor activities available.
- Janice (10/5): - Loved the luggage pickup at the Amtrak station.
- Wesley (10/5): - Loved the friendly staff and the history of faclity.
- Barbara (6/5): - Location is great for exploring Glacier National Park. There is no elevator and we had a room on the 3rd floor so we carried our luggage up 2 flights of stairs. ( you can have a bellman do it but we did not want to wait). At the top our room was very warm and there is no A/C. There was a box fan which we positioned into the window to blow air into the room. But it took awhile to cool. We had difficulty sleeping because walls are very thin and lady next door was talking loudly on her phone. Plus she had a baby which cried several times during the night waking us up. We happened to be staying there on Native American weekend so the hotel/restaurant sold no alcohol—you had to go in to Glacier park to purchase it. Which is fine but it would have been nice to notify guests prior to their visit of the situation. East glacier is very remote so we could have planned ahead. We were on vacation and enjoy a glass of wine with dinner.. Bottom line— East Glacier lodge is a vintage lodge with a great location and beautiful grounds but short on amenities
- Linda (10/5): - Good
- John (8/5): - Beautiful historical building, but needs some renovation! Staff was VERY courteous, helpful and friendly!
- John (8/5): You should stay here, but just be prepared. - A classic lodge built 100+ years ago by the Great Northern Railroad, it is a very cool experience. It's basically in the middle of nowhere, and most arrive here via Amtrak (the station is 150 yards from the front door).
However, what you should know is that it's kinda pricey (food, shuttles, room) with not many (if any) amenities for the almost $300/night rate. We lugged our bags up 2 flights of stairs to our 3rd floor room (there are no elevators). Our room had the world's smallest shower in a bathroom that made a cruise ship's bathroom feel cavernous. There is no a/c, but the room came with a box fan and an open window (with screen). Unfortunately, the placement of the outlet meant that the fan couldn't be placed within 4 feet of the window. In cooler months, it won't be an issue, but this is mid-July.
The food was just ok, but over-priced. The quality of the food on the $22 breakfast buffet was sub-par...ok assortment, just not great quality.
The beer was GREAT! $7.50 pints of local craft brews that were tasty and even a bargain!
The service was friendly, always. Especially the bellmen :-)
Let's face it...you're here to see the park, which is STUNNING!
I don't think there's any better options, especially if you are on East Glacier with no car.
- Leslie (10/5): - The lodge is absolutely majestic. The history it holds and the views are stunning. The rooms and bathrooms are small, but you’re not there to hangout in your room. There are plenty of places around the property to do that. Shuttles are available to take you into the GNP so you don’t have to worry about driving and parking.
- Theresa (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lodge. First the lodge is gorgeous. It offers places to sit and enjoy the scenery either in the lobby or outside on its expansive porches. The staff was knowledgeable on the national park.
- Judith (10/5): - I loved the history of the place and the area
- Alison (4/5): - Old property. Unhelpful staff
- Letticia (6/5): - The common areas in the hotel were nice and the outside was beautiful with lots of outdoor activities. The rooms have no AC and the box fan in the room doesn’t fit in the window so the room remained above 75 degrees until after 2 am. The bed was decent. We did not eat during our stay and cannot comment on the food. Overall decent stay near Two Medicine area of Glacier.
- Mark (8/5): - I would have given 5 stars across the board if there was an elevator, I stayed on the 3rd floor. There was no AC but the box fan made it comfortable.
Great old time lodge with a massive lobby.
- James (8/5): - Excellent view of the mountains. Was given a third floor room with no air conditioning.
- Jeff (8/5): - I like old lodge’s character.
