Guest Reviews
- Steven (7/5): Good Hotel in centre Vigan - Nice hotel in centre of Vigan
WiFi good & AC excellent
Super friendly staff
Room a little dated but functional Paint flaking off the walls in the room & breakfast was limited and average
- Erwin (10/5): -
- Florence (9/5): - Near to everything
- frecierdo (2/5): Summer Escapade - We booked the 10 bunk beds dormitory type.
Pros:
-Near Calle Crisologo
Cons:
-No elevator. Not friendly for seniors or PWD, because you need to manually go upstairs considering that they have steep stairs.
-Not kid-friendly. The doorknob was not functioning properly. My kid was trapped inside the bathroom. We needed to call them several times for rescue.
-Aircon was not functioning properly. Soooooooo hooooooot!!!!
-We were so stressed with their parking. We wanted to go out with our van, but we needed to wait 30-45 mins because the drivers who blocked our car cannot be located.
-They served plated breakfast, but the staff was not listening properly and she gave us wrong orders or combination.
-Lots of mosquitoes!!
- Edmundo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Edna (3/5): Poor -
- Dexter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (10/5): Great location to enjoy downtown Vigan - Proximity to downtown Parking was a distance to property
- Raquel (7/5): Good -
- Morgan (2/5): Very poor - This hotel has two positives. 1. Their staff. 2. Location. The hotel itself is old and run down. But it has its charms. Although this hotel can not compete with the hotel across it, it can if management can fix what's broken. In my opinion, what's broken is really maintainenace. What I would do,
1. Fix all the wholes on the walls. We were in room 203. There's literally holes on the walls. It's not efficient when you have the ac on when all the cold air is going out the hole of the wall.
2. Fix your shower heads. I'm ok with the cold water because it's hot in the PI. But the water pressure is the worst I've experienced.
3. Paint the walls.
4. Add simple fruits like banana or melon to your dishes.
5. Add ac even upstairs. This will make your guests more comfortable.
6. Have a better wifi connection.
All of these obviously cost money, a lot of money. But if you don't make changes, you'll lose more money by losing customers and not having returning customers. And unfortunately, our experience with this hotel wasn't the best so we will not be returning. With that said, the location and staff are wonderful!
- Louise (10/5): We really loved our stay here. Especially all the staff are very accommodating and helpful. Additionally, its just a min - The staff Nothing
- Roussel (8/5): Enjoyed our stay - My family was very happy with the breakfast Slow internet connection
- Mary (6/5): We are not satisfied - It's very closed to city Front desk staff are not friendly. But housekeepers are nice.. the place and the rooms are not clean.
- Mj (9/5): A good experience - We had a very nice stay. Rooms and bathrooms were really clean. Beds comfortable. Strong water in the shower. Parking is not a problem. They have a dedicated area exclusive for guests. The kuyas are very polite and helpful. Great location as it is just inside the heritage village. We specifically like the old ambience of the hotel, which is picture worthy. Internet and mobile signal were very weak, almost none. But if you are on vacation, it is the best time to disconnect and enjoy the serenity of the whole place. I guess other surrounding hotels have the same weak signal, too.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Leo (7/5): Good - Well located. Friendly staff. Breakfast, it can be better.
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonylynda (7/5): Good -
- Maria (10/5): Will definitely come back đ - Food, staff, and parking were great! Comfortable place! Feels like we are living in the spanish era.
- Manuel (7/5): Good -
- Galutan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Portia (9/5): Centrally located - Service is good and the hotel is centrally located .breakfast is good. The noise from the outside
Internet is a bit slow
- Edna (10/5): Wonderful. 5 star - The best resort weâve stayed at.
- Junaliza (7/5): Good -
- Javier (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bernadette (7/5): Good - location
- B (5/5): Passable -
- Net (7/5): Passable. - The location of the hotel is great it lies almost at walking distance to the Main Street of calle crisologo. The restaurant and grocery are very near. The hotel has the old charm of a spanish house. The personal are friendly and helpful. At room 212 which is supposed to be a suite the hot water is not working. The RESTAURANT is a catastrophic. The worst I have ever had in Vigan. I suggest if you want to dine for lunch or dinner go to Cafe Leona , if you booked inclusive breakfast donât expect too much.
- Net (7/5): Passable. - Great location. Comfortable bed. at room 104 water heater is not working at the beginnings it was turned off, we have to freely turn it on for hot water. The RESTAURANT is a catastrophic and a food quality wise is a big disaster.
- Bas (7/5): Ideal for vigan center visits - Location great. Only Filipino breakfast. Rooms small. Warm water was nice. Checkout until noon a plus. Rooms and bathroom quite small.
- Merlita (6/5): They are closed to the downtown center 10 min walk - Breakfast is ok The stairs,no available room on the first floor they have 20 stairs to go up to the second floor
- Benjilyn (7/5): Good -
- Gertrude (8/5): Very good -
- Ryger (8/5): Very good - Slow wifi connectivity.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thao (7/5): Good -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Cecile (10/5): Crews politely present themselves professionally and courteously to residents. Recommendable to fami - Location is perfect and very convenient to everything. I would highly recommend for better service is having the elevator. Itâs a must for older / senior residents when climbing stairs to have easy access from going in and of rooms.
- Priyantha (9/5): Wonderful stay of two days with very friendly staff - Excellent location, nice and clean property, very friendly staff Nothing
- Carol Ann (10/5): - Friendly staff and good rates
- Robert (6/5): - After been told how much had to pay for additional bedding room small needs restaurant to order food also
- the_vitch (10/5): Good food, very homey ambience - We had a great time while in Vigan. My kids liked the antique feels of the place and furniture. Really enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Weâll definitely stay here again if we ever visit Vigan in the future.
- GIAJane (8/5): Very convenient - The hotelâs location was conveniently situated in the center. Very near the famous Calle Crisologo as well as the restaurants and church.
However, the water heater in the shower was quite tricky to use though. Either you go hot or cold only. There is no in-between. Not possible to get lukewarm water.
The hotel, as expected, is old. Water was leaking from the windows during our stay. There was no elevator so elderly people may have a hard time going up the steps to the room.
- dudzs2015 (8/5): Cheapest. Basic - Your standard hotel in all aspects, including in service and food.
Rooms are serviceable, basic toiletries.
Events mgt is good though. Projector is bright and clear, service is fast.
Spotty wifi. One f&b outlet that closes early. No bar.
Main problem is it is right in front of hotel luna which is awesome.
- churchy19 (8/5): My first Vigan trip and wonât be the last. - Vigan is a small town so it is easy to roam around for a day or two. We had a great trip even though some hotel amenities are not in perfect shape.
1. Check in is quite quick and easy, but when we entered the room, there were some blonde hairs in the table area. I was asked to pay 700/800 for the extra bed/person which includes breakfast but not the slippers, you have to pay for 150pesos for it.
2. Bidet is next to the tissue roll, so when you use the bidet there is a higher tendency that the tissue will get wet.
3. Water pressure is not so good in the shower area. To which I asked the reception area, and they answered to me that they will gonna send someone to have it checked. But nobody came in to check. Water heater doesnât seemed to work also.
With these concerns, we still had a great time staying in the hotel. With their sumptuous breakfast buffet.
- rickyrivera8 (8/5): Wonderful hotel salcedo de vigan - For a group of about nine, a stay in a posh hotel like this would have cost much. Not in this hotel. Me and my family stayed in this place several years ago and it did not disappoint. I thought service has changed. It did not. I thought the rooms are probably in bad shape. They are surely not.
Would be back again? Of course!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Gute Lage, freundliches Personal, FrĂŒhstĂŒck verbesserungswĂŒrdig.
- JTCGreen (6/5): Itâs all about the Staff and the Location - Truly Vigan in its aesthetics! Vintage furnitures, the ambiance, the house, the whole place is beautiful but it could be better... room 204 has a bathroom door that would not close without making a screeching sound. Windows are all sealed, we guessed, so that air conditioning would work. Not enough hot water and to no fault of their own probably, the tv and cable would not work, but we will give them a pass because there was a thunder storm that hit the city when we got there. On the plus side, Calle Crisologo renowned street of Vigan and itâs old houses are on the next street over. The Plaza, The Cathedral and the Empanada Stalls are just a couple of blocks away from the hotel doorsteps. Plenty of food and shopping around. Breakfast is included with the accommodation and thereâs choices. Longganiza breakfast is a must! The staff are wonderful nonetheless from the ladies at the front desk, to the restaurant crew to the parking/door men, they work hard and always had smiles in their faces.
- Beebay30 (10/5): The Best - We had a last minute booking for our group in this hotel. We were lucky we were able to stay here. The hotel has great location (centrally located), great rates (affordable), great staff (courteous and hospitable) and great restaurant (delicious Ilocano cuisines). đ
- lowela2018 (10/5): Palarong pambansa 2018 - I would like to thank all the staff and employees of hotel salcedo for the warm welcome and nice accomodation you have given us during our stay. I already endorsed the hotel among my fellow doctors and friends here in davao. We will go back again to Vigan. From the bottom of our hearts thank you once again especially to Ms Ruth, Ms Cherry, drivers of the van, waiters and waitresses, chef, security guards and to the unassuming ceo Dr. Charles Rabara.
- 394shielas (8/5): Very nice and accomodating staff - The manager, was nice enough to provide my colleague and i an extra bed without extra charge. Understanding we donât want to share the matrimonial bed since the place was fully booked and no other rooms were available.
The place is quite cozy but staff are quite remarkably very nice and accomodating. We hired their vans and gave us quite reasonable rates. The breakfasts were good as well.
The location is walking distance to the famous Crisologo street and various eating places.
- Bong21 (8/5): Nice Hotel near Calle Crisologo - The hotel is located along a not so busy street near Calle Crisologo. It is just a few meters away from the shops, museums, bars and restos which we very much enjoyed during our stay.
The hotel is quiet, orderly and well kept. We booked a standard double room. It was clean and spacious with adequate cooling from the AC. It had cable TV and a huge wardrobe. Beds were comfy. Lighting was quite dim even if there were several lamp shades present. Toilet & bath was clean and spacious with ample water heating. We had a good sleep during our stay and did not have trouble with outside noise. Hotel breakfast was good but nothing special. Parking is located in a property a few meters at the back but only good for as much as ten vehicles. If you plan to leave early on the following day make sure to rearrange your vehicle a night before so that you will have a hassle free exit.
Overall the hotel is highly recommended for its value for money, location, and friendly & courteous staff.
- Venzon (10/5): Nice hotel! - It was safe, clean and so accesible.
- atila (6/5): In the center of Vigan - I stayed ın this hotel for only one night. Room was too small . Breakfast is just very simple. Price was good.
- sandrajacksen (10/5): Great location right near the famour landmarks and night market of Crisologo Street - We enjoy historical places and Vigan is a UNESCO heritage site so this was a must visit on our northern journey in the Philippines. The hotel is a converted family mansion as is a common theme here as we witnessed several ongoing renovations of other mansions to be converted to boutique hotels. The room is well preserved but with modern amenities and lots of wood gave it that old world charm and a window into how wealthy families lived back centuries ago. The old horse carriage buggies were a nice touch although the noisy trycycles and their exhaust fumes dampened the stay at bit at the hotel. Nice touch with the welcome hot towels and juice when we entered. Stairs are steep so if you have mobility problems, stay on the ground floor.
- Agnes (10/5): Quaint Spanish-inspired accessible hotel - - rooms were a good size and facilities were comfortable
- slightly unreliable hot water but overall very comfortable
- bathroom was big and clean with bidet. Towels were clean and smelled fresh
- internet was spotty in rooms but good in common areas
- design was very pleasing, kept to the Vigan theme
- has a balcony/veranda and Spanish-inspired sala/living area
- buffet breakfast was filling
- walking distance to everything important
- tjakoens (8/5): Loved it! - Booked a Superior Room for me and my boyfriend for a night at a bargain online
The room was beautiful and like the entire hotel, fits the Spanish theme of Vigan. The walls were thick so the room was soundproof, and the bed was comfortable. Everything expected for a hotel room, towels, toiletries, etc, was also present
The room itself was pretty small, so it felt abit overpriced, even at a bargain. But putting into consideration that Vigan's a popular tourist spot, it's tourist season, and it's in the middle of where everything happens in town, the price is very justifiable.
The staff were nice, and it was convinient that the hotel makes use of key cards for their rooms. The breakfast bundled in with the room was also nice.
My only complaints are:
- The bathroom was tight and cramped. Two people would not be able to brush their teeth next to each other at the sink, and it's impossible to move in and out of the bathroom while someone is by the sink without discomfort, since the door opens inwards. And,
- The only places to plug in is one outlet on the desk and two outlets in the bathroom.
- Also it took us a few minutes to figure out how to turn off the standing lamps. The switch is by the bulb itself
But yeah, we loved the room and we would definitely visit again and recommend it.
- Annie (8/5): Modern in ancient time - The hotel is well situated in the city yet it is quiet and the room is spacious. The places to go are within walking distance. The unique feature of the hotel is that it has preserved its antiquity with modern facilities and the food is great. They have the best coffee my colleague have ever tasted. The hotel is clean and tidy too.
- ang_biyahero (8/5): Comfortable, Affordable Rooms - 1. Very courteous staff! Impressive customer service. Attentive, humble and friendly.
2. Affordable rates, considering it's just meters away from the Heritage Site.
3. Quaint look and feel are preserved in the rooms, giving you an authentic Vigan feel.
4. Comfortable beddings.
5. Spacious parking (albeit a block away from the hotel)
6. Very near the city proper. Close to everything.
- RaiB_13 (6/5): Average Hotel - The hotel is very close to Calle Crisologo and have a very colonial feel to it. The room is also very colonial. The hotel is old so expect cracking wood doors and floors. I myself do not mind this as i like these little things. What bothered me is the service. When i checked in the receptionist take time to explain something about the hotel including where to get breakfast and all. I can see that the hotel is running full because of a big group. Breakfast time we went all the way down as explained only to find that the restaurant is booked for the big group. Not only that, they ask if we want to have our breakfast to our room of to the small lounge on the second floor. So we decided to do the second floor. Then, it takes longer for them to set-up the tables for us coz all the tables will have to bring up from the ground floor. I pity the service staff who have to rush to set-up the table for us. but we have no time to loose as we will be heading back to manila and we want to explore the city for a while. They could have explain to us by the time of our check-in the situation and its very understandable and can give them much time to prepare for the other guest of the hotel. Second is the water heater. This is as complicated it is not funny. You need to turn on the sink water and shower at the same time just to have enough pressure to activate the heater. Now you have flowing sink water and shower running at the same time, what a waste! the funny thing is there is more water coming out from the sink than the shower. I hope the management can look on to this matter. I hope you can replace the system rather than waste water just to use the heater.
Nevertheless, i would like to thank the service staff who put so much effort on our breakfast and to the security guard who look after our car.
- aaronboy07 (10/5): Five stars according to my dogs - Got here in the middle of the dead of night from Bolinao, kids and two dogs in tow and looking for a place where they allow pets. The first few we tried told us we could keep them in the cars(ahhhh, NO). Another one told us they could kennel them and just leave them in the function room. Next. Finally...Finally we were saved by this hotel or boutique accommodation that were pet friendly. We even were served juice and given an oshibori cold towel to wipe ourselves with. What a relief since it's so difficult to find pet friendly places in the Philippines. Not even a pet deposit. Kudos to this hotel. This is actually an old residential home of someone rich back in the day which has been renovated and preserved and updated with showers, etc. Make sure the kids don't run down the stairs; it's quite a drop if you fall. Five stars for saving our dogs that nigth.
- GigiSantosP (10/5): Friendly hotel in best location of Vigan - Large comfortable room, with nice bathroom amenities.
Very attentive and helpful staff.
Good breakfast.
Close parking and safe.
Walking distance to all points of interest in the city.
Very enjoyable stay overall. We will come back!
Angela & Yannick
- pamilyang_lakwatsera (10/5): Fabulous place to stay, excellent service, value for money - The place is simply amazing. It speaks of history and nostalgia but still takes care of all your needs because of their super friendly and accommodating staff and crew. The buffet breakfast is such a delight with its servings of local longganisa, bagnet, and specially brewed coffee. The rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished with antique furnitures and fixtures, too. Staying in the Hotel makes your visit in Vigan cohesive and in place.
- Nikolaos (8/5): Nice overall experience (except for breakfast!) - Large room, great location next to Calle Crisologo, good service, well decorated according to colonial spanish style. Lack of elevator is a problem, and the breakfast was well below par (stated mildly!!!). Wifi was not working that well in the room.
- KL (4/5): The staff was not friendly, the breakfast was poor - The water after using the shower was entering the room. Very expensive for what you get! Not even beef tapa available. The house and the furniture are attractive and show the old Spanish style
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Will be back to this hotel . All staffs are really nice!
- Magnolia (6/5): Good for budget travel - Room was a bit tight but good hotel for budget travel; not to mention it's in a really good location - walking distance from most any place you'd want to go see.
- John (8/5): Nice historic hotel walking distance to everything - We stayed four nights. The hotel is quant with a lot of old Spanish style and charm with old wood floors and stairs. The staff was always helpful and polite.
- Rosenelle (6/5): So-so - I would rate the hotel as "so-so". As a plus, it is very near to almost all of Vigan's tourist attraction, and to the bus terminal.
But our room perse did not meet my expectation as (1) there is very poor lighting in the room; (2) the shower heater did not work properly even after i have complained to the front desk; and (3) there are mosquitos in the room, even after hotel staff said they had already sprayed in the room.
- Rose (2/5): Close to tourists attraction. - It was an awful experience. Unfriendly staff and everything you ask for cost money. The towels and bedsheets were so dirty. We asked for a clean ones and were told they didn't have their delivery and will be there in a month, of course it cost $150 pesos for extra towel. The pillows smells pretty bad and sheets were black, even my rags at home looks cleaner. The staff at the restaurant just stands around and gossip about the guests and so many flies. All in all the property is dirty and I wouldn't stay there again nor recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - i like the hotel and its staffs its just i got a lot more expensive fee due to early check in compare to other hotels like manila pavilion which i only paid 1000 pesos for my early check in fee.
- Rosie (6/5): Opportunities - If you are not familiar with the place, you will get lost. There was no visible sign along the highway that will give you direction to the hotel and the rain was pouring heavily. We asked direction from the tricycle driver who lead us to the hotel.
The Staff were courteous.
Cleanliness: the bar refrigerator needed cleaning. I called the reception area and staff came to clean it.
Bathroom: the caulking used for the shower door is black and not professionally done. It looks like dirt or dust at first glance. This needs to be changed. The water from the shower leaks big time to the outside of the shower door which lead to the flooding of the whole bathroom floor if you are not careful.
- Ana (8/5): Honeymoon - The hotel was very good and staff was friendly. The breakfast food wasn't that great. The location was perfect. Walking distance to the main street where the major food takeaway is at.
The room is small so don't expect much. But its comfy and just what you need a bed to sleep on and a shower that works. The shower door was broken on our room though the water was going through. But other than that everything was good. The whole environment has a history, which was lovely. âșâș
- iahui (8/5): 2 minutes walk from the famous Heritage Village. - Very convenient location with the Heritage Village just around 2 minutes walk away. There are also a lot of restaurants in the area. Room's a bit small. Simple complimentary breakfast. No hot water in the shower in one of the rooms we booked.
- macky (6/5): Nice hotel - hotel staff are accommodating . No face towels .Hotels should have all the necessary stuff in the bathrooms like face towels ,toothbrush and toothpaste because those are stuff that we often forget to bring
- Lanie (8/5): Great location near Calle Crisologo & restaurants - Hotel's location was fantastic. It was easy to go around Vigan from the hotel. Room and bed were quite small, though.
