Guest Reviews
- ANGELINE (10/5): Wonderful quiet place to stay in gorgeous renovated accommodation. Fernando made us feel extremely welcome - Stunning property in a quiet beautiful location. The views and sound of the owl across the valley at night was amazing. We hired bikes from Fernando and cycled along the Tamega railway line. Fernando is a fantastic host and we loved his organic wine produced on the premises. The food was great too. We hope to be back one day.
- Helena (10/5): - Maravilloso lugar, exquisito trato de Fernando que es un gran anfitrión. Friendly pet, habitación muy bonita, ambiente relajado para descansar, piscina grande, limpia y en entorno natural. Volveremos!!!!!!

- Michael (10/5): - Where to start? What a special place. We felt so welcome and the welcome drink and charcuterie were splendid. We enjoyed chatting with the owner Fernando who acquired, renovated and expanded over 15 years. It is a truly special place. Fernando offers a limited menu of local items and fresh produce from the gardens. The pool.is glorious. You can walk down to the river for a swim, stroll the vineyards or just enjoy the various terraces.I could go on and on. Book your stay for at least a couple of nights and just relax! There's no AC, but you won't need it. wifi is spotty so turn off your device. If you really need it you can get online easily.
Enjoy Fernando's creation! Oh, breakfast is fabulous with juices and condiments made from the produce grown on the property.

- Emma (10/5): Paradise - The amazing location, charming room and beautiful garden. But most of all: the wonderful host Fernando. Thank you so much for taking so good care of us. How short our time was here! Next time, we’re staying much longer :)))

- Ewa70 (8/5): Pleasant, friendly , ecological stay, excellent host - The location, the quietness, the ecological footprint, the host, the wine tasting and the local recommendations. The old, small, cracking bed in our room, other rooms might be better fitted. But just as a minor detail.
- Carla (10/5): Beautiful and quiet farm stay, with beautiful rooms and accesss to the river. Beautiful views. - Absolutely lovely and well maintained property, with beautiful surroundings. Fernando is a wonderful host. We loved everything and we hope we can go back soon. There’s nothing we didn’t like. Everything was perfect.
- Caroline (10/5): Magical secluded spot - The Quinta is a magical tucked-away place. We were warmly welcomed by Fernando offering a 'welcome drink' which turned out to be a bottle of his delicious wine and a large plate of cheese and charcuterie - a meal really. We were the only guests and enjoyed relaxing by the pool and swimming in the river. The river is dammed and deep, perfect for a proper swim of several 100m. We seemed to have the whole river to ourselves (except for the fish and the herons). The nearby cycle path is a bonus and there are reasonable bikes for guests' use. Breakfast was delicious and we were able to enjoy it on the terrace. The whole stay was just really relaxing. We didn''t want to take the car out once we got there and we were able to have a small barbecue in a summer kitchen area near the pool. I think I panicked Fernando by asking if I could stay for ever! The following didn't bother us but guests should be aware: The Quinta is quite remote so I'd say it's more a place to go to relax rather than to use as a base for sightseeing. I'm sure Amarante was as quick by bike on the amazing (and direct) cycle path, as it was driving by car through all the hairpins. Also Fernando offers snacks but not cooked meals. That's fine for one night but eating out does require a longish drive on narrow windy lanes ( I think there's one cafe between there and Amarante). A possible solution is barbecuing as we did but this isn't an advertised facility so check if that's important to you. Also sauna and steam room mentioned on the website didn't seem to be in use - again this didn't bother us, the last thing we wanted to do was sit in a sweaty box when we were in such a beautiful place. We had a beautiful antique bed but it was very creaky!
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - Fabulous position in the Tamera river valley. Very beautiful property & area. Fernando is a genial & interesting host.
- Itamar (10/5): Exceptional - Fernando the owner is an amazing host.
- Stefan (10/5): If you love quiet places in nature, Go there - Fantastic breakfast, with a lot of homemade Food. Very stylisch rooms, the whole Place is absolutely beautiful. Fernando is a very nice Person. We come back! You have to Go out for dinner, which is always quite a journey
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional - Very warm welcome by Fernando, accompanied you his nice wines!
The property is very well managed; looks like a picture!
- Tyra (10/5): - Our 2 nights here were the highlight of our Portugal trip! The property was absolutely gorgeous, and Fernando was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, going above and beyond to make our stay truly memorable and comfortable. After a week and a half of travel and staying in big cities, this was the perfect location to relax and enjoy the stunning Portuguese countryside. We walked the property and saw the vineyards, animals and river - my mom was blown away by the gardens and all the fruit trees; was a challenge to pull her away in the end : ) - and had a lovely tour of the on site winery. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Portugal!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A beautiful remote spot, in a peacefully quiet valley. We did so enjoy the hospitality. It has been the highlight of ur trip.
- k_catt (10/5): - We spent three nights here, and we did not want to leave! We could not enough of the peace and quiet: birds chirping, church bells, the sound of the river. Mr. Fernando is a wonderful host and made our stay fantastic. The welcome drink and breakfast were amazing. We took the bikes and rode to Amarante and Celorico de Basto along the path. We enjoyed cooling off in the river after that and then going for a swim in the lovely pool. We will definitely be back!
- Tamie (10/5): - Was the highlight of our trip to Spain and Portugal. Incredible owner, very friendly and knowledgeable, beautiful facility. Delicious daily breakfast. Will definitely be back.
Nota 1000
- Hang (10/5): Romantic Retreat @ Quinta Das Escomoeiras Domain - We had an amazing stay @ Quinta Das Escomoeiras! The host was amazing, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The domain is beautiful, absolutely peaceful, has great wine and delicious thumb food available upon request.
The domain is hidden in the valley and a bit hard to find which gives it a bit of a mystical touch. Once at the domain, the roses, lavender, olives, grapes welcome you, along with lemon and a host of other beautiful, good smelling and often delicious pieces of nature.
The internet however was sub-par but we weren't there to use it so it offered a good occasion to disconnect a little bit :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Intressant att uppleva en liten vinproducents intentioner för att leverera bra ekologiska viner och andra produkter.
- nathan (8/5): Something different than the usual B&B - Located well off the beaten track ,a renovated farm and working vineyards.
Spectacular views and breath taking environs not for people with mobility issues or poor sight ( steps and uneven surfaces)
Fernando and his staff looked after our every need and worked hard to ensure our stay was all that we wanted.
Wine and food all sourced organically from the local area all delicious.
Planning a visit back asap.
- Graeme (10/5): Fantastic - This was a superb stay and the highlight of our 3 week trip to Portugal. The location is stunning and Fernando the owner is such a welcoming host.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ro, fred og idyl - Super dejlig vært.
C'est très loin de valoir 110 euros !
- hugh (10/5): Quinta Das Escomories - We (me, my wife and 8 year old daughter stayed here for 4 nights in August. It was lovely. When the sun was out the pool was very welcoming. Our room was more of an apartment and very tastefully decorated. The owner, Fernando was a great host and took us on a walk around the winery, and visits to various beasts living on the estate. The food options are limited and there is no hot food in the evening. But, the food available in the evening is good. There are some great places to eat in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Paradise - Amazing experience- Fernando was a perfect host!
- chris (10/5): Excellent hillside vineyard, wonderful host - This will be difficult to beat. Deserves 10 out of 5! Hillside vineyard. Owner has a real passion for the environment and his wines, as do his team.
On arrival, we were greeted with a glass of wine - but no pushy sales. The owner took us on a walking tour of the vineyard - included in cost of the stay.
Most of the breakfast table was picked from the garden that morning by the extremely hard working staff.
It's a small Quinta, and essential it stays like this. Any bigger and the personal touch will be lost.
Be warned that it is difficult to find (ask for directions). But waking up to the view over the hillside in the morning is more than compensation. You're only other problem will be leaving and not just wanting to extend your stay!
Will take a lot to beat this.
- Kevin (10/5): Paradise is not easy to find - Definitely need to get Directions from Fernando (the owner)on how to get there. Be sure to look for the signs about 2 Km out of Codesco. Follow them to the property. Well worth the effort. As Fernando says "Paradise is not easy to find". Our first night there we spent the evening with chatting with Fernando over wine from his vineyard overlooking the valley. The breakfast are great. The fruit is from his property and all organic. They also serve homemade jams. Take advantage of the bikes. Its a hike getting to the bike trail but well worth it. Ride to Celorico it's several kilometers. There is a little restaurant right by the trail to stop for refreshment. My wife went on while I set and drank beer until she came back. Got back to the property & jumped into the pool & hung out for the rest of the day. It is an hour drive to the Douro Valley. They do not serve diner there, but Fernando can give you an excellent recommendation usually only a 30 minute drive or less. We can't wait to go back.
- Danny (10/5): Beautiful Vineyard! - We couldn't have asked for anything more. Quinta das Escomeiras is tucked away in a gorgeous valley, with grape vines, orange trees in bloom, and olive trees everywhere. The wine is fantastic, too. I can't recommend it enough!
