machovecr (10/5): Worth the money kid friendly HUGE rooms - An amazing clean facility and kid friendly hotel the pool was open for swimming and you just walk across the road to visit the grotto. Bernie was really nice and make sure our stay was pleseant and his amazing dog Howie made the kids happy he would sit out and walk aroumd with the kids cause they asked if he could. Breakfast was available in the morning and a few options to drink as well. The rooms are HUGE compared to most hotels and motels
cchopper (8/5): I'd definitely stay there again. - Basic room, but had everything we needed. Management was easy to work with. Really appreciate the location being close to the Grotto. Nice restaurant downtown, evening food service starts at 5 pm - go hungry because meal proportions are huge.

jillparm (10/5): Iowa Nice - I had a relaxing, fun time. Hotel was clean, and quiet. Room was large, and clean. We went to the Grotto 4 times, walked uptown many times and shopped at local stores. West Bend is a jewel of a town. It has been Iowa Nice!!!
Vacation593941 (10/5): Never had it so good - The suite was so fine. Bed was perfect for my bad back. Cleanliness was perfect. Every thing within walking distance. Perfect view of Grotto! Pool perfect temperature. Quiet and serene Bernie was so welcoming fun and helpful. Love this place. You will love staying here.
F9969APch (2/5): Dissapointing - At first glance it seemed reasonable. But it progressively became worse. I have a severe allergy to dogs, and the individual working had a lab walking around freely indoors. The room was not much better. Think ,”grandma’s house”, but grandma has dementia and also let your homeless uncle live there for years and never cleaned after him. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, toenail clippings and food on the floor, along with men’s hair all over the toilet, shower, and also in the bed (as if a man had gotten a haircut and then decided to take a nap under the sheets). Continuing to take the bed apart, the sheets and blankets had holes in them. After showering and trying to feel clean, the towels were very thin and had obvious holes in them as well. The walls also had clumped up pieces of dust, and clearly had not been cleaned in months. The sink mirror was not clean either, appearing as if someone had sneezed all over it. I wiped off the dresser, and found that it was covered in dirt and more men’s hair. Spare yourself. Drive another 20 or 30 minutes to find somewhere decent, or just camp in a tent.

sueanderson1910 (10/5): Very clean and comfortable. - What a lovely out in the country stay. Quiet and clean with a pleasant roaming house dog named Howie. Grotto is a 3 minute walk across the street. Heated pool, comfy room and pleasant staff. We all will definitely be back to stay again.

The man who checked me in was pleasant enough, but the children who worked the desk during the day would not make eye contact and grunted answers to my questions. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The "Continental breakfast" was coffee and packaged processed pastries (nothing I, as a diabetic could eat). This property is inexpensive and I am grateful I had not paid more for it.

Francisca (8/5): Place to contemplate - Room was clean enough. Staff is friendly. A big dog welcomes you by the door. There is a small ref but no microwave and coffee maker in the room. Bathroom is senior and disable friendly. There is ice machine on the premises. The hotel is a quarter mile walking distance from the Shrine of the Redemption in West Bend. We stayed 2 nights. Housekeeping changed our towels before the second night . Overall, the stay was relaxing. We had a chance to attend mass at the Shrine Church. The corn fields on the back side of the hotel add to the relaxation of the place. One thing we recommend…please have housekeeping scrub the inner upper part of the toilet bowl. There is grime that developed over time. This is unit 108. Thanks for hearing is out.

The hot tub was all boarded up but there were signs all over telling you the rules of the hot tub. Might be good idea to take them down. There was a micro fridge in the room but no coffee maker. I am a real early riser and they didn't have coffee in the lobby till 7:15. It was a very good location, just a block from the Grotto, and easy to find. I probably will stay there again but I will go to Casys to get coffee.

Made sure to get hotel with pool, spa, and breakfast. which said they had all but spa was covered with wood not working and breakfast was not out when supposed to be had to go to gas station. We were put in a handicap room so taking shower was horrible. ask to have different room and was told we were put in that room because it was big enough for our family which consisted of 2adults and 2children so no different room. Also owners had pets so there was a ton of poop all over outside, left my windows cracked and had flies all over in my car. Owners were very nice but when you're paying for something that doesn't cut it

Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth it. - It looks like an ok hotel from thr inside and even in the lobby (although it is dated) but thrn we got to thr room. The TV looked like it was from 1990. The king size bed was some weird combination of trampoline and box spring. The carpet was stained and the bathroom was not only moldy, it didn't look as though it had been cleaned in some time. The vent in the bathroom was CAKED with dust. The worst part about the bathroom was the shower. The water had awesome pressure however it came out in streams that felt like needles. There is a Casey's General store about a block away but if you want to eat out. Look at at least a half hour drive. The continental breakfast was cereal, donuts, or bread. Everything we had was stale. The person at the desk when we checked out was very rude as well.
jillparm (10/5): Wonderful staff, clean rooms, heated swimming pool - The last review is a not true. I was there at the desk paying for my room when this rude child interrupted us by slamming his hand and card on the desk and demanded the lady make him a new key. She politely reminded him to keep the card away from his cell phone and handed it back to him. He then asked where the dumpster was and she pointed to the side of the building, as he walked away she said “your welcome” and the under educated no manner brat said “as if” or something to that effect. She then apologized to me for the interruption. There were 15-20 kids running around and no parents to be found. Children should not be allowed to make reviews. Those people that run it do a wonderful job in my opinion.

When she saw by her tracker that that the pods were still at the hotel, it took several calls to get satisfaction. The gentleman said that he would mail them to her and we are waiting for them to be returned.
amcbride2018 (10/5): Lovely hosts and family friendly - The hosts at this hotel are wonderful - enjoyed talking to Patti every morning over coffee. We stayed in the Americana room, and it exceeded our expectations all round. Being close to the Grotto for our grandchildren was the best!

Due to our dog and we needed a pet room. The indoor pool was nice. I didn't get charged for my dog to stay with us and or our granddaughter staying the 2 nights with us.

Food was excellent with good-sized portions. The next morning, before we went to the Grotto - Patti told us about the Country Store in town where they had very unique items and another very friendly business owner. Room was clean - bed was comfortable. TV was dated, but we weren't there to watch TV so no biggie. Very good experience.

555larryn (8/5): NIce Place to Stay - We were not expecting too much in the little town of West Bend, IA and the reviews were not the best. However, we wanted to stay close to family so we chose Parkview. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities and cleanliness of the motel. Very up-scale for a small town and Bernie and Patti, the managers, were super and made us feel very welcome. We had one of the suites and we couldn't have been more pleased with the comfort and decor of the room, very spacious and clean. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit. I will suggest this place for our next family reunion because of the conference center, nice family gathering area, reasonable rooms and free breakfast.
Vicki (10/5): - my 2nd time at this hotel in 10 months, the owners are "Iowa nice", it's small town friendly, close to the Grotto, has an indoor pool, breakfast is cold--donuts, rolls, cereal, juice, and fresh fruit, and the coffee is hot! Also, Algona and Emmettsburg are a short drive away! I will probably return if the opportunity comes again in the future!
Verified traveler (8/5): - Pros: Clean rooms and helpful staff make this hotel worth your visit. Showers were warm and room AC was frigid. Continental breakfast is nothing to write home about, but is a nice touch nevertheless. Wi-Fi is functional, though if you brought a laptop, you'll have an even better experience using the wall Ethernet port. The hotel is a three-minute walk from the Grotto, if that's why you're visiting. Cons: Facilities felt dated and were starting to show their age. TVs look to be from the turn of the millennium (still functional, though). The security chains on room doors were missing in at least two rooms (though their screw holes were still present). Decor was outdated. There were a few stains on the carpet (that did NOT make the room feel unclean). Finally, there is a severe lack of electrical outlets in rooms.

lorim881 (8/5): Thank you Bernie and Patti!!! - I need to start with a very heartfelt THANK YOU to Bernie and Patti who manage the hotel. We first stayed there in February under very sad circumstances. My sister in-law passed away suddenly and this was the closest hotel to where she lived. We were there for a week, in one of the suites, which was clean, roomy and very comfortable. We returned last week to settle the estate and of course did not question we’d be staying at the Park View. Again, we were greeted with kindness and stayed in the America Suite, our home away from home. It was great. The hotel is within walking distance to the Grotto of the Redemption, which rivals religious attraction of both the US and Europe. The hotel could use some updating, but the kindness and professionalism of the management makes up for it, not to mention the reasonable price. Our friends also came and stayed and mentioned the same sentiments about the hotel. We are from the Seattle area, our friends are from around there. Patti made the suggestion that we all come back for a reunion and I think we just might be back!! Thank you again. You have no idea how much your kindness made these difficult trips so much easier. Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel manager Bernie was great. He upgraded us to a suite for no extra charge because he was concerned other guests would disrupt us(which was So appreciated since we had 2 small children). My husband said given the size of West Bend it was a great property. It was nice they had an indoor pool. Our room was comfortable and clean enough. But overall the hotel shows its age and lack of upkeep. Furnishings were falling apart, the pool room was like a sauna (with the actual sauna boarded up, and the walls had definitely seen better days. Banquet furniture was stored randomly in the hall nooks and pool room. And breakfast was quite disappointing (the cereal looked like it had been there for quite some time and options were minimal and only carb. So it was far from a beautiful new hotel but the price was reasonable, staff were friendly, the room air conditioner worked great despite being incredibly hot out, and the room was good enough. We would stay again if in a pinch when visiting.
Becky (8/5): Adequate Amenities - This hotel served its purpose. It is clean, convenient location, swimming pool, and free breakfast. Staff was friendly enough. It is reasonably priced. I would stay here again.
Amy (8/5): Genuine Care. - The service was amazing. This hotel is a Mom and Pop Inn (some of the Inn is dated and you can they are working to develop parts of the building). If you are expecting luxury, please look elsewhere and allow these owners to please the people looking for a quaint hotel in a good location. It is right across the street from the Grotto of the Redemption, a Casey's is close, and other small town area attractions are near. We had an issue with our room and were immediately upgraded without question. It was a quiet, safe atmosphere with a family like environment. The owner was at the front desk and even had his dog in the building with him. :) He was friendly with my son and wanted to make sure that my husband and I were happy. We loved the care we got and appreciated being valued. I wish we could receive this level of genuine service everywhere.
joyceo4 (6/5): Not bad for a small motel - Room was mostly clean and remodeled. No coffee in room, so that was a minus for us. Bed not so comfortable, but okay. Great dog who greeted us when we entered. All in all, not a bad experience. The location is right across from the Grotto, which is why we came to West Bend.
