Guest Reviews
- Anthony (1/5): - had a reservation weeks in advance.. called on my way there to check in and they said they were booked up ..
- Pierre (2/5): Don't stay here! - Room was very musty and was dark and dingy. One if the worst rooms I've ever stayed in.
- Sandra (9/5): Comfortable clean room. Great value for the money. - Rooms were very clean. Staff at desk was very friendly. I do not like the smell of fabulous. The room smelled like this product.
- James (2/5): -

- Christy (8/5): - Room 11 needs door know replaced had to get manger to open as key just spins around with out unlocking
- Haas (9/5): I really enjoyed my stay. - Convenient location. Better option than similar values nearby. Excellent staff. All good.
- Belinda (5/5): We didn’t stay due to the bedding - Location Beds were too soft
We didn’t stay.
- Noah (10/5): Great stay clean rooms friendly staff, highly recommend. - The lodge was easy to find had very friendly staff and was very clean, also had very comfortable beds. everything was great no complaints at all :)
- Nelson (6/5): a cheap, clean, comfortable room is what it is. - Price was ok for what it was. The bed was comfortable. The room looked clean. The tub had black in some of the sealant.
- Joshua (10/5): Good Stay - Solid property, not much to say. No bugs, no noise, and easy check in. Good stay. n/a
- wendy (10/5): -
- Ellen (8/5): -
- Mendoza (1/5): - Nothing Didn't decide to stay because of the community around the hotel is very hostile pediatrician inconvenience just by going to get a mtn dew at the local store
- Rick (9/5): Great old fashioned motel, park in front of your room! - I chose this place having grown up in a very similar environment from childhood till I left for college, then later came back to run the motel. Very large rooms, tile in the bathroom exactly like my place, window in the bathroom, very comfy beds, loads of channels on the (admitedly poor tv picture), two sinks, nice! Park right in front of your room, what a blessing! View was nice overlooking part of the town and distant rolling hills. Coffee/tea available in the breezeway I did not partake. Don't rare back all the way in the rocker at the desk it will dump you in the floor! Built late 50's/early 60's I bet. Small piece of trim missing, paint peeling around the edges in the bathroom. Toilet paper so thin I had to use three time what I consider normal. Small details easily fixed.
- Dennis (5/5): Adequate for a solo traveler. - Clean. Both entrances are hard to get in and out of for a motorcyclist. Almost entire parking lot is on a steep slant.
- Todd (9/5): - Location is great with several dining options within walking distance for me. Good price and pretty good mountain view from front porch chair. Nothing.
- David (10/5): - Clean
- Jimmy (8/5): We had a comfortable stay, I would definitely come back. - The room, beds, sinks, bathtub, everything was very clean. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. It's in a great spot in a small town. I also loved that we could park right in front of our door, so it was easy to load and unload. Also the price was wonderful!! If you just need a shower and a place to relax for the night, it's perfect! This lodge is in a very old building. Of course, carpets and furniture have been replaced, but it needs some updating. The room did smell, but it really just smelled old and musty. There were also some stains on some of the towels but they had clearly been washed because you could smell the bleach. Some of the towels were wearing thin and one had a hole in it. But those are easy and inexpensive things to replace. The room is perfect for one or two adults but not really big enough for a family with small kids.
- Andy (2/5): - Extremely run down and lack of amenities, shower sucks faucet doesn’t work well at all,, overpriced for sure!
- Amy (7/5): -
- Lois Monden (5/5): - Location T V did not work properly
- Angela (7/5): - The location for the event that was going on for the labor day weekend
- Jean (3/5): - For 2 women travelling alone, we did not feel safe. The window in the bathroom closed but did not lock. This is unacceptable for any travelers. Part of the ceiling was loose. First thing you noticed was the moldy smell from carpet that badly needs replaced.
The value although fairly inexpensive for these days was not cheap. We paid over $100 for one night
I would not recommend
- Nancy L (10/5): Outstanding and CLEAN - The room was immaculate in cleanliness. It was a little dated and could use paint but room was comfortable, quiet and very, very clean. The owners were the nicest couple. The were kind and caring and just really nice people!
- Lois Monden (10/5): - Convenience and outdoor sitting N/A
- Diana (10/5): - Nice people, clean, quiet. All great.
- Kathy (6/5): watch out for steep driveway - i drive a minivan with a relatively low clearance. the entrance to their lot is manageable if you are careful... but the exit is steep and impossible not to scrape. there are lots of drag marks. Room was clean but a bit rundown.
- Kristian (10/5): Amazing will stay here again by far the greatest - I loved how it was welcoming and cozy felt like home not like any other common hotels we have today its a definite must stay at location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything's good the rooms are just musky smell and they need some air fresheners
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms are clean and the service is very good but the rooms got a musky smell they need to put some air freshener
plugins in
- John (10/5): - Mr. Patel was pleasant, polite and ck in was easy.
King bed was very comfortable.
Area was safe well lighted
- teresa (8/5): -
- Sylvia (10/5): Exceptional - It was a well maintained motel, quiet and friendly.
- Loretta (10/5): Comfy and Quaint - Park next to room so it was easy to unload and load from car. Although there were a couple of steps up.
- Harold (6/5): - The condition of the room was disappointing and the beds were comparable to sleeping on the floor.
- Nicole (7/5): It was a few hour stay, slept very well though - It was a nice little hotel to sleep at. Nothing.
- Charles (4/5): Giving 'Supernatural' vibes - Great if you are looking to recreate a movie scene with the Winchesters from Supernatural. Looks like all the motels that they would stay at!
- Patti (10/5): - Older hotel. Quiet. Could of been a little cleaner. Friendly people.
- Raymond (7/5): Good - Best price for a old well kept clean motel.
No complaints m Antiquated but comfortable.
- Wix (8/5): Very good -
- Jan (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (8/5): - Nice hotel, very close to dining and shopping.
Comfortable room and bed
- Marilyn (8/5): Very good -
- Lawrence (10/5): - Great hotel,
- Lulu (7/5): Good - beds are so comfy
- Tina (1/5): Bad - I have a service dog and they refused to allow me to stay. I simply didn't want to argue, so I went to Motel 6 instead.
- Jadwiga (2/5): Very unpleasant, too expensive for the standard - Fridge in the room The furniture in the room were old and falling apart. The sheets were not changed, there were hair on them, there was unpleasant smell in the room.
- Karen (2/5): Very poor -
- Christopher (9/5): Good staff great rates - The desk attendant Mr Patel was very supportive and kind
- Sara (7/5): Exceptional value for the price, comfy and clean. - The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean. It is an older motel, but I expected that, and it was an exceptional value.
- B (7/5): Good -
- Taylor (10/5): We didn’t stay in the room much, but our stay was cozy! - The proximity to town There was nothing I can complain about, everything was fine and cozy!
- Johnlikes2travel (8/5): Very good - Large comfortable rooms. Hotel is dated but clean
- Clingensmith (8/5): Very good - The bed was so comfortable
- Melvin (9/5): Superb -
- 590scotto (8/5): Good stay - This hotel is a good bargain if you are looking for a place to sleep with few amenities. Staff was pleasant, parking and checking was easy. It's an older property but has everything you need. If you need a place to just sleep it works great. I would stay here again if visiting the area.
- JEFFREY (8/5): - This was a pleasant stay. We spent one night and had no issues. It's an older hotel but for the price it's a good stay. There aren't any special amenities but if you are looking for just a place to sleep it's a good option.
- Hale (1/5): Bad - I always check the bed before anything. The linens had a huge brown ring of dried pee on the bottom AND top sheet. Gentleman said there was nothing he could do. Long story short, I was beyond mad especially after he said I could go elsewhere or change the sheets myself, he brought clean linens and helped make the bed. I also wasn’t charged for my stay.
- Robert (6/5): Comfortable good value - Inexpensive fine for an over night. Fixtures and paint needs updated. Carpet needs replaced. Floor was creaky.
- Graham (5/5): A bed for the night. - Pretty basic but clean and comfortable. Main road location but ok.
- East (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): We plan to stay at Knob Hill whenever we are in Hillsville or traveling through. - The location was excellent for the reason we were in Hillsville. One of the quietest motels we have stayed in over the years.
The price is hard to beat.
The cleanliness was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner couldn't get the Wi-Fi working and the heater in the room didn't have a thermostat on it so I had to keep turning it up and down but I've stayed in other rooms that everything was fine
- William (7/5): Good night of rest - The value for a place to sleep for an evening. It is dated but again for under$60 what would you expect?
- Buteau (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, safe and quiet besides ambulances. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. Everything worked as should. The bed was decently comfortable. The carpet needs replacing, it was disgusting. It smelled of urine, thankfully not overwhelming, and it subsided when I opened the window. Carpet extremely old and stained. Other than that the room was as clean as it could be. I understand it is a budget hotel but the carpet needs replacing.
- Michael (10/5): Hillsvilles little secret - Quiet, comfortable, nostalgic. Good value. No breakfast
- Joseph (8/5): Okay stay for the money - Room was nice, very close to shopping and dining options WiFi spotty at best
- melisa (10/5): - Quaint place great value would love to stay longer
- Johnson (8/5): After a long drive comfortable - The room was clean and super quiet, The bathroom could have a better scrub, but hard water is a pain. No king available, but 2 doubles were fine
- Harold (9/5): Superb -
- Austin (8/5): This is where I grew up as a child. It is very close to my father's cemetery. - We had horrible weather and delay after delay with snow and ice in Pittsburgh and in the tunnels on our way was an additional three-hour delay. Our clerk was exhausted and so were we. When I arrived, he did not accept pets. I have a service dog. No problems, but he was not happy, and frankly neither was I. I tried to get to a family funeral on time. We did not arrive until 4 am. I had to go to an atm to get money. I did. I slept and left 4 hours later, his last words to me was try to get here a little earlier next time. We both made the best of a challenging situation. The clerk was very pleasant. No phone, only email. I had a hardees bisquit for breakfast. First one in twenty years! Basic shelter, good location. Safe.
- Barry (7/5): Satisfied - Easy to get in and out Reception didn’t know if any dining was available No facial tissue. No toilet soap
- Philip (10/5): Clean and comfortable. Served it’s purpose of providing a good nights rest at a exceptional price - It was clean and comfortable. All the amenities were in working order. Very peaceful and restful stay. Bed as comfortable as any I’ve slept on in higher end hotels. G.Patel, owner and host, was very kind and helpful. It is a dated building and expectingly has the smell of such a building. That being said, no worst odor than staying in my grandmothers house as a child.
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Katerina (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff, great price, extremely comfortable beds, blankets, pillows Nothing
- Grayson (7/5): Good - It was a cozy mountain side style hotel. you got the feeling of staying a cabin. The room didnt really get dark. if you are someone who needs to have a dark room to sleep make sure you bring a mask because if its close to a full moon or the lights outside are on you will have a semi bright room.
- Horace (8/5): Very good -
- Swartz (1/5): Very disappointed…. Not what I expected from photos on the website! - Nothing The room was filthy! The carpets were dirty as well as the bathroom floor, shower head misted water with no way to adjust it. Garbage outside our door for 2 days and absolutely no type of room service for towels!
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Allison (9/5): It was a great stay. - It was in my budget. Location was perfect. It was a great place. A great time we will be coming back. Everything was great no problems
- Marshall (3/5): Poor - Convenience of location and the price. Very disappointing as I have stayed their many times before. The staff was not as friendly as usual the cleaning especially bathroom was not good. Service not as good when I needed something. This may be normal but I have never heard of time curfew for visitors to my room there was nothing posted and said upon check in. And as said I've stayed there many times and had my children over till close to midnight several times before. And never a complaint. With their job and school obligations best way for me to see them as their mother and I no longer live together. Saturday night they stayed to a little after midnight as we were watching my sons favorite NBA team play and being on west coast it ended very late and they left as soon as it was over. With me being there all morning and early afternoon nothing was said we came back to the hotel about 745 after dinner and was going to play games and watch college football just a few minutes later was a knock on the door with the owners telling us very rudely that I was not allowed to have guests in my room after dark and they needed to leave as I only paid for 1 person. They wasn't staying the night and they weren't being noisy or obnoxious and again it had never been a problem before and no warning or mention their was a certain time they had to be gone. Probably won't stay there again.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennie (1/5): Horrible Stay - Location It was nasty there! Would not recommend to anyone
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marshall (7/5): Good -
- Loretta (5/5): Passable - Location was great, beds were clean & comfortable.
Bathroom & shower clean and functional...Great hot water.
Heat & air wall unit worked great. The room was a bit cluttered (large furniture), curtains were half hung and rough looking, carpet wasn't very clean.
The heating & air wall unit was visibly dirty & dusty.
- Horace (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (6/5): Staff used to be nicer...place is fine for what it is - I have stayed here many times probably 10 in the last few years. It's old style but it has what you need. There's a refrigerator and microwave and it's clean and TV works When I first stayed here it was a very nice gentleman running it. And then after that the staff was very nice. The last couple of times I tried to engage them and be nice but they don't want to be nice. I asked for certain rooms because I know everything works. I gave them a choice of a few and they said I could not have them because people are already there. Well this last time it was 10:00 at night and they were like three or four cars in the parking lot. I try to be friendly and I understand sometimes people have a bad day but the last couple times have been the same
- Zanna (9/5): Superb - We really enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfy and we really enjoyed sitting and spending time together outside. Would absolutely stay again There was no cold water, but I just think they had some handy work going on...I don't think it's normal.
- Prudente (7/5): Good -
- Susan (8/5): Very good - location, comfortable bed
- sylvia (2/5): - Absolutely disgusting, filthy, yuck! Here's why. Upon check-in the place was very disorganized and we were given a literal key. We go to the room and the scent of mildew or mold spores greet you upon entering. It's late so we have to make the best out of this. I walk over to turn the old AC unit on and it's filthy, dust, dog hair human hair, I couldn't tell, bugs. From that point forward straight downhill. The carpet felt sticky, the remote control made me cringe. We go over to wash our hands and get this, there is only scorching hot water coming out of both water lines, unbelievable. We look in the old tub shower combo that couldn't be use because of the water and it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. It was dirty with soap scum all in it. Then they had the audacity to leave a container of Ajax under the sink, you can't make this stuff up. The towels and wash cloths was very used. The nightmare continues but you don't have to live through it, spare yourself, spend just a little more this time. We booked three nights but left early the next morning knowing we wouldn't receive a refund. These people should have brought a pig farm instead of a motel!!! Expedia Family you have been truthfully warned.
- J1632IBsylviam (2/5): House of Horrors - This place was absolutely terrible!!! We came in late one night and received our key. The smell of mold almost knocked me down! We didn't want to go in but it was late and we were very tired. We thought we would fight the smell and leave in the morning. Next day we tried to shower. Nothing but hot, scalding hot water! no matter how you turned the knob in tub or sink, which I believe is breaking a county ordinance for hotels. This maybe a good place to stay for October 31.
- Overbee (7/5): Good - No breakfast
- Thomas (4/5): - They charged my credit card an extra $10 because they said I "soiled" a towel.
- Jessica (1/5): Unless you’ve lost your sense of smell don’t stay here!! - The shower had great water pressure The room was extremely outdated (pink tile bathroom) the smell even checking in was awful, smelled like urine, and the room was extremely musty smelling. Someone left Taco Bell in the fridge which made me wonder if the room was even cleaned in between guests.
- Mohamed (4/5): It was just a rest on our way home from a long drive. - The price. The smell of the room.
