Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (2/5): Ewww! - Super sketchy!! The location was exactly what I needed because I come to Urbana to see my daughter who lives a block from there and spend nearly no time at the hotel (thank goodness!)
Dirty, smelly room overall. Leaky shower faucets with a tub that didn’t drain well. Completely unsafe stairway they roped off with crime scene tape on my second day.
Thankfully I didn’t discover the cockroaches until the morning I was leaving.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It had an old building feel to it! Lincoln May well have slept there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Rat and roach infested crack house not fit for a dog
- Jilly (6/5): - The room was simple but clean. No hairdryer. No amenities however wasn’t too surprised for the amount of money we paid for the room. It worked for us.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - basic bare minimum room
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It states on the outside sign microwave and frig in all rooms. Our room was without and microwave. When asked for one, the gentlemen at the bar stated that it only came with weekly rentals, but the young lady working the desk was nice enought to find us one from a vacant room.
- Kellie (2/5): Don't stay there! - The price of room was to high for conditions of room. The room was very cold, bed was very uncomfortable, 2 small little pillow for a queen size bed. Wall to thin, people yelling all night long . No breakfast. Never again. Close to university of Illinois, that was the best part...
- Verified traveler (2/5): - sucjs corn dogs, was infested with cops and the ice machine was broke?
- JoAnn (2/5): - Omgosh, just horrible. Only stayed 1 night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don’t expect much - Last minute business trip to UI that unfortunately coincided with move in week, this was the only place near campus available. I wouldn’t have chosen it otherwise and my instincts were proven correct. The hotel is shabby and dirty, with paper thin walls and barely functional A/C. Though I had a nonsmoking room clearly the carpet and walls (and possibly the bed) predate the change, because the room still reeked. Stains on the linens. Dubious electrical wiring on the lamps.
The staff were friendly and efficient and the water pressure in the shower was excellent.
- Gil (4/5): - Registration to University.
This hotel is near by , Great location .
But other than that it's a worthless motel
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very outdated room and stained furniture.
It was not clean either.
Recommend remodeling asap.
- Verified traveler (2/5): don't stay here - police activity all night, no rest. Please provide me a refund, I left early
- Emmilea (8/5): - When I first got there, the room was soooo cold but the lady at the front desk was super nice and let me move to a different room, which was a lot warmer. The room was very comfy although the blankets were a bit thin.
- Kurt (8/5): - The hotel fit what needed for my trip. The staff was really friendly. I was very happy because they let me check in early as I arrived sooner than expected. This very important for me. I wish it was closer to U of I. But this would be my only complaint.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Only use as a last resort. The plastic between the mattress and the sheets was pretty off-putting. The age of the comforters and sheets was also a little nerve racking. The bathroom didn't really look like it had been cleaned. If the bedding looked better taken care of and the sheets didn't come off the bed in the middle of the night I could recommend the hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The towels and sheets weren't changed everyday. The 'freed' breakfast consisted of cereal and toast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): 宿泊費が安いホテル - 価格が安いのが最も良い点.清潔さについては若干難あり.ゴキブリ(?)が出た.朝食は極めて簡単なもの.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not recommended - Non smoking area just like smoking area. Noisy. Can not get into sleeping well because of this. Not clean. Facility is bad.
- Miriam (2/5): The smoke smell nearly killed me - Positives - the service was friendly, the wifi was great, the location was handy enough, it was reasonably clean. Negatives - despite the no-smoking sign on my door my room was absolutely rank with cigarette smoke smell, took my breath away - fortunately my daughter brought a candle along or I wouldn't have been able to sleep in it. I assume the smoke comes up from the rooms below. The hotel is old and hasn't been renovated in decades - that's ok but the swastika carved into the bathroom vanity was offputting. Worse was the power outlet literally hanging out from the wall, and the lamp where the bulb fell over when I touched it trying to figure out how to turn it off - I doubt either of those meet any kind of code. Very thin walls so I could hear the neighbors on both sides. It was a place to stay in a town without enough hotel rooms, but it was awful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Old dirty and dingy - It was a horrible experience, very dirty place. I've stayed at other hotels for about the same amount of money on a weekend like this and are much cleaner. Hotel is very outdated. Hardly any outlets and the ones that are there are behind all sorts of furniture. Even when you go to reception area it's horrible. I would rather stay at a campsite than the Lincoln Lodge.
- nanajan (8/5): near restaurants, shopping and the highway - The rooms cozy and very clean, staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, it was snowing and icy they regularly salted the paths for the guests safety. Very personable, friendly this was our second time staying at the lodge, and will do it again without hesitation, a great value deal
- Myron (4/5): - The room was outdated but clean. Staff was very nice.
- Steven (2/5): Roach motel - Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy the company of roaches!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Formerly iconic little hotel gone fully to seed - - I was in town for a reunion and remembered the Lincoln Lodge as a one-of-a-kind place with charming features and a homey ambiance. I could see by the prices and overall reviews, however, that it had dropped its status, but given that my priority was cost, I decided to take a chance.
Yikes.
First of all, the lobby of ANY hotel should be clean & welcoming. In this one, a dry, dirty mop was propped up against the wooden bar, where, presumably, guests would sit, with the lobby in general was musty and worn; faded and dusty. The sense was of neglect... no one's loved or taken care of this place in a long time! The man who checked me in was pleasant, however, accommodating my early arrival, which I appreciated, but that was pretty much the only good point of my stay.
Photos of this place on various sites are deceptive. Yes, exposed brick walls and warm wood accents usually DO lend charm to a room, but these rooms have long ago lost their luster. Dusty, dirty, with ugly furniture that looked like someone raided a dump, and towels & bedspreads so thin and flimsy they suggested toss-offs from a dorm. Window shades broken, dirty carpet, dubious clean quotient, the overall whole was seedy and cheap. Though this was a non-smoking room, the odor when you opened the door was overpowering -- I don't know if it was smoke or just "old room," but not good!
The bed was comfortable, it was relatively cheap; staff was nice, but that was it. Dark, dank and dirty; won't stay there again.
- TSECHU (6/5): 普通飯店 - 坦白說服務有點散漫....早餐居然沒擺出來
- James (8/5): Affordable option close to campus - I've stayed at the Lincoln Lodge a couple times and really enjoy it. It's a bit outdated but gets the job done.
- Kathy (6/5): Close to my daughters house - It would be nice if there was more for breakfast.
The room was reasonably clean. One bed was too hard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room is quiet and comfortable. It's also clean too, so I think it's pretty worth the price. I'll recommend it if you want to stay near campus for a day or two.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cheap & In poor shape - It worked for two nights because we were only there at night to sleep. The continental breakfast was two Tupperware containers of cereal, a box of store bought mini donuts and coffee. In our first half hour we had the maintenance man in to make the lights work and fixed the closet bar.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There were no lights in my room
The staff is overall friendly and helpful
- Doug (8/5): Great hotel for OSU-Illini game (location-price) - Somewhat dated theme hotel with some interesting character such as single interior brick wall. Outdoor pool is permanently closed. Room was clean but my we had some difficulty regulating the shower temperature. Continental breakfast spread could feed a family of 4 but not a hotel full of guests. We were there for the OSU-Illini football game. This hotel was great for that purpose regarding value of hotel rate and location to game, campus and city of Urbana. I would definitely stay there again if I were in town for a game!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible - room smelled of heavy old smoke being covered up by airfreshener. when I walked in thermostat was turned down to 60 so it was running constantly to try and cover up smell.
- Claudia (6/5): Dated but Nice - I stayed here with my family when it was the only room I could find for four people over Homecoming weekend. It is basic, and quaintly dated, but clean and staff was friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Dark but ok. A little creepy but once inside it was fine
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cockroaches... Need I say more? - Cockroaches in room. Burn marks everywhere. Charged $25 more than advertised. They said it was due to being game weekend. When asked why not advertised they lied and said they weren't the owners despite it being obvious they were. TV remote didn't work. TV not a flat screen. Bedding appears dirty. Nice wood work and close to Illinois campus.
- Verified traveler (4/5): you get what you pay for - This place is totally live-able, but not clean, not up to date. It's one of those places that are just subsisting on the status quo. The floors in our room were sticky. Sticky carpeted floors. The table in the room was sticky too. the "continental breakfast" was one plastic box of variety donuts (think those powdered monstrosities), coffee, a plastic tub of corn flakes, and a bag of sliced white bread. Bottom line is you get what you pay for.
- James (4/5): Prolly not again. - We had to beg for towels each day and the room was NEVER serviced in the 3 1/2 days we were there. The ice machine is locked up at night in the office, and the "continental" breakfast consisted of Mini Dolly Madison Donuts and some generic cereal. It wasn't expensive, and we still over-paid.
- James (6/5): Good enough - Staff wasn't always at the front desk but got us the rollaway bed when we needed it. Continental breakfast was pretty minimal and there was nothing to drink. It was a place to sleep at a reasonable price but was nothing nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Big space - The space is really big which I enjoy very much. There is a little pity that the WIFI speed is not as fast as at home, but overall, the condition is satisfied.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable - Great stay.. clean room.. nice staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice - Great... very comfy...breakfast could be better
- Barbara (8/5): Great stay - Our stay was great. Clean room great service
- Michael (2/5): Flashback to the 70's - This hotel was outdated and the service was not acceptable.
- Susan (8/5): Stay at Lincoln - Like the refridgerator, big room
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away - Extremely rundown hotel. Staff never at front desk. Many problems over the 3 day stay.smelly room, broken heater, small TV, bed hard as a rock,...etc. worst hotel I stayed in in over 22 years.
- T (2/5): Dreadful Experience - 1. No hot water first day. Front desk clerk he just turned it on for the entire facility. 2. The sink was plugged. Front desk clerk agreed to have it fixed. This did not happen during our three day stay. 3. Our "no smoking " room had an unbearable smoky stench. I had to line the inside of my nose with petroleum jelly so I could tolerate the smell when I was in the room to sleep. Our luggage smelled like the room. 4. No maid service the day after our first night. 5. Broken down and torn chairs were outside every door to each room. This created a ghetto-type effect. All C-U hotels were sold out for the weekend so we were unable to change to a better facility. This was a dreadful experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was very outdated, not very clean, bedding was clean and bed comfortable. That's the only good thing.. the whole place needs a major overhaul..
- Verified traveler (6/5): Worked out - The first room dad no heat. They moved me to a different room and the heater worked half the time. Warmed to a chilie temperature at best. I think warmer weather would've been an ok place to stay. Not in cold weather
- Evelyn (8/5): Quaint lodge close to university and all areas. - Nice and friendly staff. When I asked where a nearby bank was so I could get quarters for meters, the gentleman volunteered and gave me $10 worth. This really helped out as I wasn't sure what to expect at our destination and we were running a little late. The room had a microwave and fridge I was not expecting. Also, flat TV and wifi. Room had new bedding and carpeting, all panel decor, a little retro which we like. Very cozy and comfortable, different than a standard hotel. We loved it.
