Guest Reviews
- Diaz (10/5): - Los anfitriones encantadores
- Joselu (10/5): Repetiré estancia - Todo me gustó, muy acogedor y confortable
- Johannes (8/5): Servicio muy personal! -
- Sara (8/5): - everything is correct , except for the breakfast, there is a lack of variety of products, however what they serve is good quality
- emiri254 (8/5): Clean, classic and friendly staff - I loved the super clean and classic room with big bathtub. Since it is not in the city center, I could enjoy quiet night with refreshing wind from the window.
It is a family run hotel and the owner lady was extremely kind, flexible and efficient. Her sons are also very helpful, and fluent in English.
It was 15 min walk from the city center. Though bus is also available, I never took since the path to the hotel was very safe and beautiful.
Spanish style breakfast was around 4 Euro.
I enjoyed about everything at this hotel and difinately come back.
Thank you for the great stay.
- Gilles (10/5): Confortable - Escale pour une nut
- Ward (8/5): IberianHoliday - The staff was very friendly and overall accommodations were OK. The WiFi was iffy; best in the bar or late at night in the room. The hotel was about a 15 minute walk to the Cathedral that went through a very nice park and esplanade along the river. I thought there would be better tapas or dining available in the hotel; plus very quiet as not a lot of people dropping in for a glass of wine as one would thing. Love the old stone on the building.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is simple but clean, not centrally located, but it's very easy to find a parking place just in fron of it and the centre is within walking distance. It's a family-run hotel and many guests are walking the Camino to Santiago. The staff always found the time for a quick chat, a recommendation or to ask how your day had been. So even the occasional tourist felt at home.
- Sandra (10/5): Camino hospitality and convenience to Burgos - This is a wonderful, convenient (on the Camino and about 20 min walk to the city centre), personable family run hotel. The family are very hospitable and provide you with all the information you require, as well as feeding you if you so wish. The building, whilst old has a lot of character and the rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. There is plenty of parking in the area and other food options are in close walking distance. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. Thank you
- AGUSTIN (10/5): - Excelente estancia, volveria a reservar!
- williejarln (8/5): Pelegrinos - A friendly and clean hotel . Staff are very helpful. Food not gastronomical but ok. Unfortunately a bit far from the town centre, but if you are walking to Santiago, you have “ saved” 2,5 kilometres. The staff speak ok english, and mamma keeps full control.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel for a short stay, about 2 km drom the center of Burgos. Friendly staff, clean room, correct price.
- Puerta Romeros (10/5): Pasable para una noche. - Pasable para una noche. Normalito.
- Antonio (10/5): Great little hotel - Staff was great
- Eric (8/5): - Quiet and simple place with nice, helpful owners
- Steven (10/5): Gem next to Burgos University - Very pleasant hotel that caters to student, senior, or pilgrim. Very well maintained but simply furnished. Everyone smiled and offered to help. Bargain price.
- 265emilianoc (10/5): very good hotel - I stayed in this hotel before starting the camino de santiago and it was very good. The room had a nice athmosphere, overlooking a beautiful garden and was confortable and nice. The location is a bit out of the center, but you can walk or take the bus, and it is very handy if you are doing the camino or you need to visit the university. Would definitely come back.
- micius (8/5): You get correctly what you pay - In this hotel you get what you can get with 35 euros, the price of a room, breakfast included.
So you have a very good position both for the area (in front of the scenery Hospital del Rey, now occupied by Law University and a wonderful city park) and for being so close to the Camino de Santiago for the pilgrims that are walking it. If you are among those, the place is very suggested because you can take 2km walk to see the Cathedral being so close to the way the following morning.
Rooms are not the best in style (false old dark furnitures) but clean and also with bathtub.
Breakfast is essential and there is also a bar service with outside tables in front of Hospital del Rey in a street not accessible by car.
Good wifi available in all the rooms.
A suggested stay for one night if you don't are pretentious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Trevligt hotell lite i utkanten av Burgos. Promenadavstånd.
- footprint1975Wales (8/5): A pleasant stay in a pleasant location - We stayed for 2 nights so that we could spend a sightseeing day in Burgos. The hotel is in a pleasant, quiet area, a very pleasant 20-mins walk from the city centre; and there was a regular bus service from the stop just outside the hotel. The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, and friendly; and the room was very clean and comfortable. There was ample free on-street parking close to the hotel, although guests arriving during the working day might find this limited. The only (minor) point that we found a little unusual was the expectation that guests should be in for the night by 23:00. All-in-all, this was an enjoyable experience, representing very good value for the cost.
- Owen (8/5): 2-night stopover in Burgos - We had a 2-night stopover on the way from the south coast to Santander, giving us the opportunity to spend a day in Burgos. The staff at the hotel were really welcoming , knowledgeable, and friendly. There was ample (and free)"on-street" parking near the hotel - but during the working day this fills up quickly. It was a very pleasant 20-min walk into the centre of Burgos, and there is a bus-stop just outside the hotel. Burgos centre, and especially the cathedral, were well worth the visit.
- GregorRon (6/5): Easy and economical stop - The hotel is a easy stop for those wanting to stay in Burgos, but not in Burgos. It's a 5min drive or 25min walk into the town from here. I drove closer, easily found parkin and had dinner in the city. Easy.
The rooms are simple but clean and the hotel is well run. Wifi runs strongly, and owners are friendly.
On complaint, it stunk of body odour in the lobby when I arrived.
I paid 35€ for a single room.
- PaulFromByron (10/5): awesome experience - We are on The Camino del Santiago and needed a restful break from walking in excess of 257kms!, Oscar and Albero are the perfect hosts, very knowledgeable and looked after us with lots of care - Oscar even followed us up on The Camino when we left something in our room, talk about excellent service!
- psiko_somatika (6/5): Calm hotel near university - The hotel is situated near the university of Burgos, close to the municipal summer pool. It has a bar on the ground floor where you can have breakfast. The basic has a terrace. There is a parking nearby. The room 102 had two single beds United. Though the window you could see a calm area (no roads).
- IvarK2013 (10/5): Service beyond what you can expect. - Coming from Madrid with the ALSA-bus we were running almost two hours late that evening. Ringing the doorbell at 22.30 we did not expect this friendly reception. But we got our rooms, and around 23.00 the kitchen prepared excellent food for us. Adding to the surprise they presented a bottle of red wine, 1991 vintage for the company free of charge. Service at this standard made a welcoming impression the first day i Spain, setting out on the Camino the next morning.
- 93alejandrac (4/5): Not bad. - The hotel was ok, but the service food was not very good, and the matress were quite old and uncomfortable. It was clean and the fresh made buns for breakfast were nice.it was close to the university where i went for a congress, but quite far from the city centre.
- elmstrasse (10/5): Warm Refuge & Pilgrim's Launchpad - I had found the website and liked the location, at the western extremities of Burgos. The long early morning walk from city centre to outskirts is a psychologically exhausting stretch, who has a long day ahead. At the edge of the Parque el Parral, this would save the half-hour from the city centre.
I arrived at the hotel after a long trek from Atapuerca, trudging through the industrial outskirts east of Burgos. It is in an old stone building, renovated and comfortable, but of a welcoming scale. The young man at the reception had received my request for a legislation and, in relaxed and very capable English, did the paperwork and found me a room (35 Euro) overlooking the Hermitage of Saint Amaro to the south.
The room itself was spare but comfortable and quite clean. The bathroom was quite small, but sufficed. I had my afternoon meal in the restaurant below and the menu de dia (10 Euro) was tasty and of good value. It's apparent (and in a good way) that the hotel is family-run.
The small hermitage of Saint Amaro is just to the south of the hotel, as is the faculty of law of the university of Burgos, in a beautiful building founded by Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine (played memorably by Katharine Hepburn in A Lion in Winter) and, further to the south by a kilometre, the Abbey of Las Huelgas, a repository of much mediaeval and baroque paintings and textiles. Students of canon law will remember that the Abbey is one of the last places where a woman held ordinary jurisdiction in the Roman Catholic Church, hiring and firing clergy and holding councils.
The city centre and its restaurants and spectacular cathedral (said by some to be Walt Disney's inspiration for Disneyland) are about half an hour by foot walking through the park along the riverbank. Given the high hotel rates in Burgos and the friendly quality of the Puerta Romeros, this place is a hidden jewel.
