Lorna (10/5): Dr Bird heaven !!! - It was an older style property which I love and not too big. It was great to eat outside and watch the birds. Didn’t mind the cats begging for food they just added character to the place. You don’t even need the tv’s in the room, was happy to listen to the wildlife outside. The lady who looked after us was friendly and welcoming, thank you Charmaine 😍 would love to come here again We liked everything
Hans (7/5): Sfeervolle accommodatie waar weinig te doen is - Forres Park is een sfeervolle accommodatie, gelegen in de Blue Mountains. De gastvrouw heeft onze kamers geüpgraded omdat er verder niemand was en was zeer behulpzaam. Buiten dat, heeft ze een heerlijke lunch gemaakt en twee keer een voortreffelijk diner. Voordat je hier naar toe gaat moet je goed bedenken wat je hier wil doen. In de nabije omgeving is de koffie fabriek, leuk voor een rondleiding, maar verder is er niets te doen. Er zijn geen trails of andere dingen die je kunt doen. De weg naar Forres Park is een uitdaging (weg zit vol gaten, slecht ‘asfalt’) dus je moet een goede ‘fourwheeldrive’ hebben om in de bergen te rijden.

Petteri (10/5): - Mostly an excellent experience and the hostess and staff were really friendly and helpful. Two downsides are that they did not tell beforehand that dinners and breakfasts cost additionally. Dinner ($18-$24) and breakfast ($8-$10). Also there were some bugs in the room as there was a gap between the door and the door frame. Overall a great accommodation though and ideal for hikers interested in doing the blue mountain peak trail.

She is also an excellent cook and has a lovely personality. She made us feel very welcome. We would have appreciated a sun lounger!
Nari (7/5): Very well maintained and rustic property, truly enjoyed my long hikes and coffee farm tours. - The breakfast and dinner( decided to have dinner at retreat, extra cost) were exceptional. The staff is great and very responsive to questions about the area. Truly a pleasant experience The property is located very close to the road and the noise of motorbikes can be quite annoying during the busy morning and evening times.

Nous avons été très bien accueillis et avons pu dîner sur place, malgré une heure tardive. Nous recommandons le repas sur place qui était délicieux, et vous serez bercés par les bruits du ruisseau en mangeant. Très relaxant ! La chambre et les parties communes ont beaucoup de charme, bien que la salle de bain soit un peu vieillissante. Mais il nous a semblé qu’ils faisaient des travaux dans certains chambres. Vous n’aurez pas le calme absolu à cause de la route, mais la chambre était bien isolée et nous n’entendions que les bruits de la nature depuis l’espace restauration et les jardins. L’endroit est très accessible depuis Kingston, faites attention à quelques nids de poules, sinon la route est correcte dans son ensemble.

Laura (10/5): - It was a nice get away, we were the only guests when we were there, both Breakfast and dinner were great! Very peaceful and beautiful to be just amongst the trees. We drove up the road, and got some snacks and drinks. There is a fridge in the common area, to keep the beer cold. A great place to see another part of Jamaica. Getting there is slow going, narrow and windy lots of potholes to avoid on the road, but worth it once you get there.

Anna (8/5): A friendly place to lay your head in the mountains - The four poster bed was lovely and the building had an olde-wordly feel with lots of dark wood and antique furniture. The first floor balcony looking out over the garden and towards the Blue Mountains was our favourite place to relax. There's a hammock and a table and chair for journal-writing and birdwatching. We saw hummingbirds and a green parrot. We walked into the nearby town of Mavis Bank to stock up on water, snacks etc. It is not a picture postcard place but the local people were friendly and welcoming and we had enjoyed some good jerk chicken from the restaurant (up the red steps) and very reasonably priced Red Stripe from the little shop ($250 JMD for a 341ml bottle). The breakfast was delicious with Blue Mountain coffee and a choice between bacon and eggs or a traditional Jamaican breakfast (ackee and saltfish was delicious). Charmaine is such a friendly and welcoming host. We enjoyed visiting our guide Deano's smallholding and swimming in the river. The worst thing about our stay was the noise on our first night. There was a party across the road with loud music, revving engines, shouting and even screaming at one point. It was the last thing we expected from a 'nature retreat' and a bit intimidating in the early hours of the morning. It could have been a one-off because the following night was quiet and we drifted off to the sound of insects singing. The hotel felt very quiet during our stay - maybe it was a quiet time for tourism but there was a bit of a faded feel about the place...like it had seen better days. It didn't feel very 'lived in' or alive. It needs a bit of a spruce up to reinvigorate the atmosphere. The door to our bathroom wouldn't shut which was a bit annoying when you need some privacy!
Arina (7/5): Beautiful nature, not many hiking options - Very friendly host, who comes up with suggestions on what to do. Coffee factory that you can visit at walking distance. Very big room and nice porch where you can relax. Beautiful nature, easy to spot the doctor bird. It is possible to eat Jamaican breakfast. Two choices of dinner, so if you are eating in more than 2 nights you eat the same thing again. We had expected, based on the web site, there would be more options for booking excursions. You can book transport to Abbey Green (1 hr by 4x4).
Augusta (9/5): Peaceful retreat , perfect to unwind - Loved the location. The host was very welcoming and open to accommodate our requests. The room was comfortable with big windows all around. The way to get there isn't the easiest in terms of conditions of the streets (narrow road, not well maintained, lots of curves)

Henley (10/5): A most pleasant surprise, Forres Park was one of the highlights of our Jamaican road trip. - Set in woodland, this lovely old property was full of charm and character. The surrounding lush vegetation attracted lots of hummingbirds including mango and swallowtails, making this a birdwatchers paradise. The room was very comfortable and substantial, and we had use of a lounge area which opened to an impressive balcony. Most memorable however was the adorable manager, who was also housekeeper and chef, and went out of her way to make us feel welcome and look after all our needs. With nothing to treat mosquito bites from a previous stop, she even went into nearby Mavis Bank town to buy some antihistamine. She also organised transport and a guide for our hike to the Blue Mountain peak. Roads leading to Forres Park are winding and narrow in places, so care should be taken, especially when passing other vehicles. Apart from the coffee factory in nearby Mavis Bank, there’s probably not much else to see in the immediate local area, and drive to the start of the Blue Mountain hike took well over an hour, but we honestly couldn't find anything we didn’t like about the property or the service, which was excellent.

No fridge in the common areas, no facilities to boil hot water for tea. The road stretch leading to the property from the (main) mountain road is awful with potholes and rocks. There are hardly any activities nearby and no grocery stores.

Verified traveler (10/5): Base for hiking Blue Mountain - Rustic is an apt term. Hot water and wifi were excellent though! We ordered dinner each night and both were fantastic. The staff was very friendly and took great care of us. The first night we mentioned we liked Dragon Stout beer. The second night she had it for us. We drove from Kingston and it was fairly scary. Other drivers were all courteous. One of us would move to the side for the other to pass on the narrow bumpy road. About 90 minute drive from the hotel to the Blue Mountain base. I highly recommend hiring a driver. Marvin drove us- the road was treacherous. The hike was very nice. A lot of elevation. It took us 2.5 hours and $20 USD each to climb. We did not have a guide for the hike. The paths were extremely clear.

Die Unterkunft an sich war sauber und gut ausgestattet, Frühstück und Abendessen müssen am Vortag bestellt werden. Wenn man ein Getränk bestellt, dauert es ewig, bis es serviert wird. Der Preis, der für eine Blue Mountain Peak Tour verlangt wird, ist übertrieben.
Tahir (4/5): RUDE AND ARROGANT STAFF - Customer service was rubbish unprofessional and staff were rude and arrogant, the food we had ordered for room service was cold and with no flavour, our room lock was faulty and was locked out even the maintenance guy could not get into the room so finally after finding a long ladder he climbed in through the balcony.. we was given a upgraded room for our final 9 hrs off stay left at the hotel.... would not recommend this hotel at all.
kdouble (8/5): Quaint hotel/guest house in the midst of nature. - This is a great little hotel (but really more of a guest house). I give the overall rating a 4 out of 5. I want to be clear I am not using a star rating like you might assign to the Intercontinental or Hyatt Regency, but more of a 4 out of 5 experience. I believe that when you travel you need to connect with your surroundings. This hotel is located at 5,000 feet above sea level in the mountains of Jamaica. It's a lush setting and a different environment than most travelers on this site will ever experience. The staff is excellent. Tanya and her team do a great job of making you feel at home. The chef is very accommodating with providing meals each day. The grounds are beautiful. I've been coming to this part of Jamaica for years and this a great trip and can thank the hosts for helping to contribute to my stay. 2 night stay is probably all the typical traveler needs before experiencing another location on the island.

Joanie (6/5): Un peu déçu - Nous avons été accueilli par le chef de cuisine Roger qui est vraiment sympathique, contrairement à Shanique, une responsable du site, qui nous a servi le "minimum possible". Nous voulions essayer les trails du site et des alentours mais c'était compliqué d'avoir des informations, son attitude était plus ou moins agréable. Le Forres Park a un beau cachet et le site est très bien. Roger nous a concocté un excellent souper, il nous a même partagé sa recette et fait visiter les petits chalets à louer. Merci Roger! Départ pour le Peak 190$US comprenant les déplacements, le guide et la nourriture, un peu cher.
Yvette (10/5): A taste of Paradise - I was spoiled by the staff and really wanted to stay longer. Very relaxing, no fuss about anything. Getting up to enjoy the sunshine and the picturesque views changed to my only goal. I felt safe, relaxed, comfortable and well-cared for -- exactly what I needed this weekend.
