Guest Reviews
- Arielle (10/5): - Gorgeous place! Friendly staff.
- Brad (10/5): - Our three nights at Bahia Bonita were wonderful! It was only a 3 minute walk from the water taxi pier to the property. We were pleased to be met at the pier by staff who helped carry our luggage. The view of the bay and beach is incredible, and you can hear the water all night, regardless of which room you’re in. Our unit had a partial ocean view off of the balcony, but we only had to go down the steps and sit on the large Deck area overlooking the water… There are tables, chairs, and lounge chairs there for guest use… It is an amazing spot to hang out, play cards, etc. our unit had a kitchenette with stove and small refrigerator, plates, utensils, etc., but no microwave or oven. There is plenty of fresh drinking water available outside the unit. Very friendly staff that greeted us at check-in…. it only took two minutes and we were on the way to our room with key. There are a lot of steps, but very well worth it as long as you are in decent shape. Oh, I forgot to mention the small infinity pool it also has the same incredible view. There are the typical beach restaurants about a 7 minute walk across the sand.. Walking to the village is an additional 10–15 minute walk, with more steps. Village has a few more places to eat, and a few small grocery stores. We definitely hope to return to Casa Bahia Bonita!
- Ashley (6/5): - Staff at the hotel were very friendly. But locals are not
- Berenice (10/5): - It was super accommodating for the price.
- Isabel (10/5): - Alma was vwry accomodating and sweet. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Perfect location near water taxi and beach restaurants.
- Saskia Claudine (8/5): - All good except the Wifi.
Recommend to add coffee and tea to the rooms upon occupation.
Small Details make it place!
- Patrick (8/5): - The pool was kept very clean and the view is unreal. The wifi was pretty much non existing.
- Fernando (10/5): - Nice little hotel very close to the beach pier. Great views of the bay. Great terrace and pool. All beach restaurants are very close.
- STEVEN (8/5): - FABULOUS VIEW, CLOSE TO PIER AND BEACH.
- THEA (8/5): - Amazing five star view!!! Clean , spacious room. No hot water in the shower. Staff not readily available. Walkable and easy to find. Will return for location and view.
- Tiffany (10/5): - CBB is conveniently located by the main pier. It’s away from the main town which makes it very quiet. The views are the best! The staff was incredibly helpful as well. There is about a .5 mile walk across the beach to town which can be a lot so be mindful. All in all, we’d stay here again if we were to revisit.
- Claudia (10/5): - Wonderful place by the ocean, very friendly and helpful staff. Great place to stay in Yelapa!
- Gerardo (10/5): - Beautiful little getaway place. Beautiful views with easy access to restaurants
- Robert (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay
Balcony next to the jungle with ocean view was amazing
Pool was fantastic
- Debbie (10/5): Great space in a wonderful location. - Our stay in the basic room at Bahia Bonita was wonderful. The location is great… right at the end of the Beach Pier. The room is small but has the essentials. It is new and very clean. The view of the Yelapa bay is amazing and if you like to people watch this is a great place to see life happening around you.
- Kristie (4/5): - The property was constantly being cleaned and repaired during my stay. One day they were using a very toxic smelling paint and I had to leave the property. No hot water, bug nests in the ceiling, terrible wifi. No frills for a steep price. Zero personality considering the area. The convenience to the pier and the tiny pool dont make up for the lack of anenities including no cafe onsite.
- Paul (6/5): - Nice folks. Been there 7 times over the past nine years. They did charge me about 230 pesos over the agreed upon price on check in saying it was because I used expedia. Never happened in the past. Seemed uncalled for, considering I have been there 7 times.
- Jay (10/5): - Quaint little property right at the hotel pier the water taxis pickup and drop off visitors. A bit of a climb to get to your room but nothing strenuous. Stayed in the Eclipse room for two nights and my wife and I had an enjoyable time. Free wifi. AC. Small mini fridge. Comfortable bed with mosquito net. Only real downside was the shower didnt seem to have hot water and there was no tv. But all in all we had a great experience. Staff was friendly and accomodating.
- Habib Alan (4/5): - Broken furniture and lighting
- Jerome (10/5): - Loved that particular spot.
It was somewhat secluded .
Staff was very very helpful and curtious.
The view is flipping awesome
- Veronica (10/5): best pool on the island - what a great hotel stay. the best pool on the island and close to the beach. highly recommend
- Pablo (10/5): - Awesome environment
- Stephen (6/5): - No air conditioning. No WiFi. Window was open so up to six different lizards running around in the ceiling. The bed had a netting that could be draped over the bed but it couldn’t be used since full of bugs and a dead lizard in it. Water in the shower was only a few drops so made it difficult to shower. The toilet flusher was broken so each time to flush involved opening the tank and pulling the chain manually. Be aware it’s cash only business. Very rustic and very hot since only a fan. Nice location very close to the ocean.
- Sam (10/5): - Very kind people. Humble but beautiful
- Sam (10/5): - Very basic location, loved it and had everthing we needed.
- Ann (10/5): - I love staying at Bahia Bonita. The view is incredible! The new pool is beautiful! The management is so friendly.
Thank you again for a wonderful stay!
- Elder (10/5): - Beautiful place and very kind staff. The pool was pleasant and the walk to the beach also was. It would be nice to have a little couch for at least one person in the room.
- Chris (10/5): - Such an amazing place to stay!
- Robert J (8/5): - Clean room, view, easy access to safe drinking water. Pool small but clean. Area around pool very unsafe. No railings and rebar sticking out. Garbage and beer bottles littered around pool.
- Nancy (10/5): - The room was decent, but the real treat was the balcony and view which were outstanding, and the staff who were warm, accommodating and lovely in every way. I’d return in a minute.
- deborah (10/5): - Great stay. Gorgeous views. Spacious
- Jason (10/5): - Lovely spot, lovely view!
- Hayley (6/5): - A beautiful property. The rooms are a good size, and we had a lovely view of the bay, and it was so nice to hear the ocean. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin & we had to listen to someone’s tv until 3am both nights of our stay. Very basic, but beautiful!
- jonathan (10/5): - The location is fantastic, just meters from the crashing waves, with a wonderful view.
There were no amenities. No working wi-fi, no A.C., no drinkable water, no shampoo or hair conditioner.
After 24 hours I discovered that the main inn, a 3-minute walk, offered water and good wi-fi, but it would have been helpful to have wi-fi in the casita and the offer first day about that and about potable water.
- michael (8/5): Nice stay - Beautiful view but a lot of stairs .
Very basic but nice .
- Valerie (10/5): The perfect January get away from it all… - What a gem! Yes, lots of exercise and you must have good knees for the stairs, but perfect breeze, amazing view, low key, sweet little kitchenette (bring your own basic provisions). Getting there on the little boat was fun. Kid friendly, Hike to the waterfall —perfect adventure for the whole family
- Angela (6/5): - Very budget friendly and staff is very nice and helpful, has a pool—but no amenities. Rooms are clean and are equipped with kitchens so great for longer stays. Restaurants are a short walk across the beach. Peaceful and quiet, best to book a room with an ocean view. Not a hotel for those who have difficulty walking uphill.
- Salvador (10/5): - Everything is unique about this property. The rooms are clean and with a small fridge and kitchen. Beautiful set up. You are outisde the busy are in town, so you can enjoy the quietness and the sound of the waves at night .. also..the stars !!. Thede is a small pool , we used it one day because you basically have the beach right there. The staff is fantastic , super welcoming , if you are lucky enought you can try the pay made by Ismar's mom. Dont miss it. Great place to stay. Willbeback.
- Joel (10/5): - We had an awesome view of Yelapa from our room. Ismar was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. We had an incredibly nice stay in a beautiful location. Loved the small pool and they are working hard to add a small bar and lounging area next to the pool.
- Philip (2/5): - Terrible, terrible, terrible!
3 hour wait to get our room. Missed our water taxi waiting to check out and get our $600 peso AC controller deposit back.
A lot of stress and lost time While in town for just one night. Not worth it.
- Jessica (4/5): - This experience was highly disappointing. First off, the hotel is situated away from both the beach and the town, such that a lengthy walk up and down stairs and across the sand is required to get to both beach and places to eat. The photos feature a restaurant, as if it were attached to the hotel. It is not. If you get back to the hotel and need anything--food, a cocktail--be prepared to climb up and down several flights of stairs to get it. Not my version of relaxing. Also, the place is far more run-down than the photos show. There's no outdoor table overlooking the water; instead there's a pile of rubble. Water pressure is terrible and you have to fiddle with the lock on the door to get it to work. Yelapa is rustic, for sure; but this was an exceptionally poor experience.
- Helmut (8/5): - It is a Rustic Property with fairly good internet. But I would bring your own water.
- April (10/5): The perfect place to "disconnect"! - This place is Amazing! So quiet & eco-friendly. The people in the village who live there are so welcoming & kind. Cannot wait to go back!
- Alicia (10/5): - The location was amazing, the views were incredible. We stayed in the top level suite (tortuga), it had a huge balcony with lots of seating. I highly recommend upper suite.
- Salissa M. (10/5): - We love Yelapa and enjoy staying at Casa Bahia Bonita when we visit. They are friendly and the views are amazing from this property. We stayed in the spacious Tortuga room and were in awe of the balcony area. We will be back!
- Debbie (6/5): - No AC remotes were given to us and staff was no there . Did get info on AC remote control til next day after our stay it was a
Very hot night 😡
- Wendell (6/5): Yelapa - Great location but no AC remote to hot to stay.wasn’t told about deposit on remote til next morning ..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful room. Amazing view of the bay and the beach from the balcony. Limited amenities, lots of stairs, but I didn’t go to Yelapa to be pampered, and the view and serenity are well worth the climb.
- Clint (10/5): - Great place o stay I Yelapa. Clean and comfortable right in the ocean
- Pamela (10/5): - Amazing place
- Victor (8/5): Heaven in heart - Very good customer service I love it I love the view just a little comments about patio platform needs more improvement I almost fell down to the rocks other than that everything was great to get there you have to claim a couple of stairs good exercise
- Verified traveler (8/5): Jungle Paradise! - This was a great little hotel located right in the jungle. Rooms are modest and clean. Check in was a bit different as no one was in the front office—a quick text and someone met us there in less than 5 minutes. Bring your own beach towel too as there aren’t any available. Overall a great stay if you’re looking for a little sliver of paradise in the jungle and right on the water!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Property was very run down, dirty, and poorly appointed. Staff were pleasant and helpful. No potable water supplied by hotel. 20 minute walk to a store to buy drinking water. Be prepared for a lot of stairs(90 to climb from beach to room).
- Lori (8/5): Case Bahia Bonita - Casa Bahia Bonita was a pleasant place to stay in Yelapa. If you are looking for a place that is quiet and comfortable, this is a great choice. Accessing this property from the beach pier was pretty easy, check-in was streamlined. You do have to go up quite a few stairs if you are in the higher up rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The kitchenette needs a better supply of things like bowls, pots and pans.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed here for my fourth time now and absolutely love this little quaint hotel! Anytime I come back to Yelapa I will always stay here! Ask for Hecktor, we have become great friends over the years!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - View was good. Rat poop in room was not. No amenities at this hotel . No beach towels for example.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We really enjoyed the location! The balcony area downstairs gave us a great view of the bay.
- BRIANANDTERI (8/5): - WE PARKED OUR RENTAL CAR OVERNIGHT IN BOCA DE TOMATLAN IN A DESIGNATED PARKING LOT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, ON THE LEFT. ($7 CAN), AND THEN TOOK A BOAT TO YELAPA. ($8 CAN)
(PRICES ARE APROXIMATE)
THE HOTEL OVERALL IS VERY UNIQUE AND IS SET ON A BEAUTIFUL BAY. THERE ARE A LOT OF STAIRS!!!!
BRING A FLASHLIGHT AS THE WALK BACK TO THE HOTEL FROM THE RESTAURANTS WHEN IT GETS DARK, CAN BE TRICKY AT TIMES.
THE VIEWS FROM THE LESS EXPENSIVE ROOMS ARE MOSTLY JUNGLE WITH PEEK-A-BOO OF THE WATER.
IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE ROOM AT THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL, THE VIEW IS UNOBSTRUCTED AND INCREDIBLE!!!!
VERY UNIQUE AND GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!
BRIAN AND TERI IN KELOWNA
- Valerie (6/5): Hot and cold - The hotel was beautiful and had a beautiful view so I recommend it for those reasons. Also the hotel caretaker/cleaner was very sweet. However no one was at the hotel to greet us and we had no instructions for how to enter the hotel. The light was left on all night outside the hotel and there were no curtains for the side windows so I did not sleep much. And there were no amenities provided like coffee, water, shampoo, beach towels... which I found strange for a comparatively expensive hotel. In addition, the water taxi guys in Boca de Tomatlan tried to rip us off (sold us tickets then were telling us that our tickets were not valid and we needed to pay more). Overall we still really enjoyed this beautiful area and the incredible view from our room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful location. Our room was as described. Clean, king size bed nice bathroom. However, there are no hooks to hang anything other than towel hook in bathroom? No cups or mirror. The description said they had a bar and restaurant. We were told that it closed a few years ago. There are several places to go to nearby. They should update amenities list. Otherwise we were satisfied with our stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location in town is quiet. Very near the pier. Kept very clean
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Long flight of stairs to a 4th floor, not an office person on sight,
check in office is a mess, couple of ladies available at certain hours to take care of reservations and nothing else, disrepairs have to be reported to the main office in Pto Vallarta, the whole Yelapa beach I would not recommended it, surf is strong and sand is coarse, it looks beautiful in pictures but is not, the hotel best asset is Erika "receptionist" if i can call it that, she was very kind and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice accommodation. Fair value.
Lotsa steps--91 steps to my room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Good value. Very clean. Staff very friendly and laid back. We went out hiking on check out day and took longer than expected. No problem checking out a little late. We were allowed to hang out on the property patio in the shade while waiting for our water taxi. Nice ocean view even from the cheaper rooms with side balconies.
Not really things I "did not like" as I knew these things going in but:
Be aware there are a lot of steps to get up to the rooms. Be in shape to stay here.
There is no beach right at the property. I tried to swim off the rocks below and it was a little too treacherous to attempt. You have to walk about 5 minutes to the beach.
- Rosanne (10/5): Memories of Yelapa - Beautiful comfy homey hotel.
Great service!
Could use a small fridge for water or beer. Also needs better lighting on the outside stairs at night.
- Dana (8/5): Lovely view of the bay - Bahia Bonita was a great place to stay on the north side of the beach. It was close to the Lagunitas pier for the water taxi and a lot of stairs to get to the room, but the view was worth it. The king bed was very comfortable, and the room was simple but had everything I needed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was OK,, - I had to walk up 87 steps to go to my room,,there was a puddle of water forming and getting bigger in my room.
The hot water was not consistent and non existent in the morning when i need it most.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great view of bay, room nice, but needs work
- Long walk, lots of steps. I shall return. blah blah
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exceptional! - Defied my expectations. Very clean with great service and extraordinary location!
- Paul (8/5): Stay at Casa Bahia Bonita - There is a wonderful view from the veranda on the top floor. The refrigerator was broken but a used refrigerator was there. The old refrigerator was not removed. It appears they are getting ready to put a new gas range in place to replace the small gas unit that currently functions as something to cook on. The range was still in its delivery box in the kitchen. The cost of my stay was about $17 more per evening as compared to the rate last year, when I stayed from the 15 to the 20th of Dec. This year, my stay was from the 13th to the 18th of Dec. and I was surprised the cost was higher as compared to my last stay. The rooms were only partially occupied by other guests. The room I stayed in, was spacious and comfortable.
The hosts are nice and do their best to respond to needs and requests.
The location is beautiful.
- Kristi (8/5): Worth the price! - The property is fairly small, located at one end of the beach, up a cobblestone path. Small kitchenette with some utensils and supplies, clean bathroom, balcony with a partial ocean view, and sparsely decorated. I wish the bed was more comfortable, I prefer a soft mattress, and this was relatively thin and hard. The shower spray was a little erratic and the light in the bathroom was shorted out. The check-in process was easy, friendly, and quick. Overall, for the price I paid, I was happy with the accommodations. I'd stay here again if I wasn't looking for luxury.
- Tom (8/5): Charming Fishing Village Hotel - This little beach community has little to offer if you want luxury. However, in the evening after all of the tourists have left it is a romantic place. However, they don't have air-conditioning - which in a way is lovely and adds to the charm. The hotel is bare bones and has no staff. We had brought a bottle of wine (not easily available in this remote village) and asked for glasses (only one was in the room). The owner found a couple of coffee cups, which we used as wine glasses. The sunset was gorgeous. They bedroom had a very nice fan and mosquito netting, which added to the charm. We never saw a mosquito and very few bugs even as we were in the jungle. There are a couple of other hotels, but this one was good enough.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Beautiful view of the bay - This was a very modest place with a beautiful view. It is at the other side of the bay and the walk to town was time consuming .
- Ilene (6/5): Nice for onenight - A little funky. Lights didn't work bathroom small. Very clean. Lots of stairs we didn't expect. No food available at property. No way to pour water from five gallon jug. Bought but couldn't use.
