Guest Reviews
- Greg (3/5): Serves a purpose - Staff, and the distance to Marina Very outdated, mattress is horrible
- Greg (3/5): Not a vacation lodge, but a place to lay your head. - Location to Marina, staff Decor, beds are not that good
- Emily (8/5): - The room was clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. I think we met an owner at check in, and she was very kind and helpful with our questions about the area.
- Stephen (8/5): - It shows its age, but great location for birding .
- Andres (6/5): Acceptable - Acceptable Acceptable
- dRae (1/5): -
- Robert (7/5): -
- Greg (10/5): - A very sweet lady at the desk very very polite was very helpful telling us where some good restaurants was and how to get to it well worth the money
- Andrew L (6/5): Basic and a little overpriced - The staff on site were very friendly and helpful with directions, etc, but the beds were pretty uncomfortable. Coffee maker had old coffee grounds in it. But what you’re paying for I guess is the location and that there are no other motels close to metzger and Magee.
- Stephen (7/5): Basic 60's/70's motel. - Friendly woman at front desk, fridge and microwave in room, clean, good location for birding Magee Marsh. Dated, small rooms that could use some maintenance.
- Clare (8/5): Very good - Perfect location, friendly staff
- Leroy (10/5): - Older place but clean and comfortable. Great place for fisherman needing a place to stay. Only thing I could say that would make it better is several outdoor electrical outlets installed for being able to charge batteries in a boat. Owners very nice and helpful.
- Dustin (2/5): Not a good rest spot for a fishing trip! - Was looking forward to having a couple drinks and playing pool at the lounge listed in the description only to find out it was not open anymore and looked deserted. Beds seemed old and not comfortable. Walls very thin could here people and cell phones ringing from the next room. No security the neighbors were out talking in the parking lot til late hours in the night i could here everything plain as day. Do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Young (7/5): Just needed time off the road - Quiet Didn’t have any negatives to give
- Krantz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krantz (10/5): Great place for the price! -
- Taylor (10/5): - Super nice lady
- Krantz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justin D (2/5): - People beside us partied all night i pounded on wall to no avail.
Needless to say not much sleep and bed are hard as plywood
- Justin (10/5): - Hard bed but it's just a sleep n go
- Randy (1/5): Bad -
- Brandon (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff! Beds were a little stiff.
- Greg (8/5): - Nice fishing lodge area served its purpose somewhere to lay your head to sleep and shower although it needs a water booster for the shower pressure was weak at best. Could be normal for the area I’m not sure.
Staff was great and welcomed us in with a smile and exchanged towels daily.
No restaurants near buy, If the bar was open and served average bar menu, wings, pretzel, burger or even just a club sandwich would probably draw more of a crowd.
I would return.
- christine (10/5): - A nice economical room that’s really close to the charter docks. We would stay again!
- Noah (10/5): - This truly a blast from the past
Reminds me of those old school motels alongside route 66 back in the late 50's early 60's fun stay
Not much of anything around it.
- Carlos (7/5): Good -
- Cheri (7/5): Good -
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Jeff (8/5): - Great location, close to the fishing marina, and nice host!
- Trang (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (8/5): - Property was kind of rundown
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bar/Restaurant not open. Hard to get food delivered.
- Julie (7/5): Good - The price can’t be beat. It is close to Magee Marsh & Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. It could definitely use some updating, though I’m sure the rates would need to go up. I guess we would rather have the inexpensive rates. The room could have used a little more detailed cleaning.
- Rolf (5/5): Passable - Staff, both afternoon check-in guy and morning check-out gal were very friendly and welcoming. The place is dated. Room cleanliness was OK, but wasn't 100% clean, e.g., sticky spots on counter tops.
- Meihua (9/5): Superb -
- joseph (6/5): - it was quiet and in the country
- Maya (6/5): Inexpensive and friendly staff. - Linda, the manager, was super nice and accommodating. Just the nicest person. The cleaning girl was extremely helpful. The lodge needs a lot of updating and repairs. The street noise was really loud.
- Catherine (8/5): Great location, price, comfort, quiet. Restful place to launch a tour of the Ohio Marshes. - Very kind receptionist. Made me feel right at home. Place was reasonably clean and well kept for price. For the price, nothing!
- Stacy (10/5): Very comfortable and the owner is awesome. She really loved this place! -
- Elena (10/5): - It’s super clean and this is my main requirement when I stay at any hotel. Very pleased and of course the price was great.
- Deez (7/5): Nice clean and quiet place to stay for a decent price. - The room was clean, smelled clean, and in a very quiet and remote location. The lady at the front desk was very nice and caring and all the guest kept to themselves without any interruptions. Big bathroom! Overall good room for price! I’m assuming the walls are sound proof because you hear nothing, but when outside you can hear EVERYTHING through the air conditioning vent There was stains on a rag that should have been thrown away and stains on the sheets and a blanket. The drains smelled very bad when water was ran or toilet flushed. There is no table, chair, iron, nor ironing board in the room. The air conditioner runs very loud and stopped working for a while during the night (not the normal start stop operation). Only 15 tv chanels
- Minna (7/5): Good - Nice and quiet. Better than expected, big room. Worth the money. Bugs but can't avoid them.
- Gerard (8/5): Good place for the money -
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mailliard (9/5): Superb -
- David (5/5): If you want cheap and well located, this is the place to be, but it's not very clean. - TV noise all night long from a neighboring room.
- Diana (10/5): - Clean, bug free and just what I needed.
- Martha (6/5): excellent location, good appliances and bathroom surprisingly spacious, but the tv didn’t work and the power strip was o - it is extremely convenient to Maumee bay state park the tv didn’t work and Instead or giving me a new room or fixing it, I had no use of it. the signal barely came in and the picture was all snow with a barely visible screen. I called the front desk and was told to put the tv on channel 6 but it never was watchable. the noise and total lack of a clear picture made it unusable. I think I should have had money taken off my room fee because I have a minimal expectation when I stay in any accommodation that the tv will work. fortunately I had my iPad and the wifi signal worked. there were 5 possible sources for the tv and nothing I selected improved anything. another annoying this was that the last refrigerator was not on amd I had to turn on the power strip which meant I was reaching behind a large piece of furniture into a dusty dirty space
- Sue (10/5): - Fair place to stay for 1 night, relatively clean except for some cobwebs. The beds were comfortable, and it was fairly quiet except for some traffic noise, but being on a main road, to be expected.
- Jeanne (4/5): Yucky - Advertised bar and restaurant for breakfast only. Neither operational. Blankets on bed were terribly thin, bedspreads ugly and very old fashioned.
- Payne (8/5): Very good - Good value, very clean for an old motel.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good - convenient to the marina n/a
- dernnis (10/5): - Super nice lady at office.. always give amazing service
- Domack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): - Staff was very friendly, the room was clean and lots to do in short drive time.
- Stolaruk (6/5): Pleasant - Great location for attending the Biggest Week in American Birding. Staff were courteous and helpful. First time I ever stayed at a facility that did not provide kleenex or a hairdryer. Otherwise, my stay was great.
- Mary (1/5): Won’t stay there again - What breakfast Running toilet for 3 days
Did not flush reliably
No repair available until Friday night
Front desk argued that you “just have to jiggle it”
Not true
No refund received
- Todd (8/5): Okay motel in excellent location by Meinke Marina - This is the only hotel in the area and right across the road from Meinke Marina, which is where I needed to be. Desk staff person was very pleasant and helpful. Facilities are pretty tired, but bed was comfortable and place clean.
- Ronald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruce (8/5): It's cheap, clean, friendly service - Only place to stay In the area No complaints, it's a no frills cheap hotel
- Rose (7/5): Reasonable prices, nice location, room was ok, nice staff - Nice location close to Lake Erie. Room was dated but clean. Staff was friendly. Could use an update
- Paul (8/5): Extended weekend getaway. - The room was on par with typical motel rooms for the same price point. The room was clean, had all of the necessities, and was bug-free. It, along with the general facility, could use some updating. What made a difference for me was the staff. Linda (owner, I'm assuming) was very helpful and went out of her way to make sure i was comfortable for my stay (over several days). Had a nice discussion with her husband as well. Made me really feel at home.
- David E (4/5): - The location was attractive to us because of why we were in the area! The reviews we read were fairly positive, but we would have otherwise spent more for a different place! The apparent owner was friendly and helpful!
- michael (2/5): - i did not stay there . i was with my family and this place is in the middle of no where no restaurants no gas station , weeds growing up thru the parking lot saturday evening when i got there and no one around .my impression was a very erie place.
- Bryan (8/5): Very good -
- Yuriy (2/5): Horrible !!! - Horrible, has this place passed health inspection? I thought I was going to get some disease staying there
- Kevin (5/5): Passable -
- Vanxxx (4/5): Close to Maumee Beach State Park, and good for one night. - I liked how close this motel was to Maumee Beach State Park and all the other Wildlife attractions. I was close to what I wanted to be doing for the weekend. I also liked that it was easy parking to how close the room was, so I didn't have to lug all of my stuff. The hotel refrigerator, microwave, and T.V. were seriously old. The pillows were as flat as a pair of socks balled up. I didn't like that there were rat droppings (or something) on the bed sheets. Bed sheets were stained. This motel is outdated by at least 30 years.
- Gregory (4/5): Bad advertising - The first thing this motel promotes is it’s bar/ restaurant. There is NO bar restaurant. This property is very isolated so be warned. The closest near by bar restaurant is also closed on Mon. & Tues.
- Stephen (6/5): - 1st room smelled terribly of smoke so we were given a different room, the only only rm available which we appreciate. But the a/c was not working, there was no coffee maker, the water smelled and tasted terrible.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful motel and Fabulous friendly staff - This Motel is run by a lovely woman names Linda. It's located between Magee Marsh and Maumee Bay State Park. It looks out onto cornfields and is generally just an extremely peaceful and wonderful spot. The only thing I didn't like about it was but they pretty much drench their rooms in either Febreze or some kind of Glade air freshener or some kind of very strong disinfectant that smells sweet not like a hospital. And I have asthma and so it was difficult for me to deal with the strong smelling chemicals. The windows don't open so I couldn't air the room out that way. But otherwise I just love the place I've stayed twice so far and I will absolutely go there again. They have a refrigerator and a microwave and the refrigerator is not one of those ridiculous little Cubes but instead big enough with a small freezer to hold all the food in my cooler as well as the large freezer packs that I used to keep my food cold. It's generally just a wonderful location and run by very kind people and although it's not the Ritz, it's exactly what I wanted. Peace and quiet and friendliness and clean.
- James (6/5): Birding Motel - Good location for local birding spots. Cheap price, run down but functional enough, nice lady managing things.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very decent stay - This is a really decent place to stay.
It is not the most updated but it is Clean! There are clean sheets and towels and enough towels. There is cable tvon mounted flat screens. The microwaves and fridges work!
Parking is free and near your room and the staff is very accommodating.
Toilets may flush a little slowly and AC units may run a little noisily, but overall, all the basic needs are met and the price is very reasonable.
- JULIE (6/5): - It’s just an older hotel, staff was friendly. Not very romantic
- Mark (8/5): - Quiet and clean. It was nice.
- Regina (8/5): Older but very pleasant stay - The hotel is a little old could use some updates. But we had great service. The lady running the hotel was so nice and helped with everything. The room was very, very clean. Hotels since covid dont make up beds everyday, but we came back from our long day of bird watching to a clean room with clean towels. The beds were comfortable. The water was hot. And there is wifi! About 4 miles from Maumee Bay State Park which has great beaches. Close to Ottawa County Wildlife Reserve and Maggie's Marsh.
- cristina (2/5): Dump - A dump. No restaurant, very outdated and old.
- Morgan (10/5): Can't beat the price. - The Lake Erie Lodge is a no-frills motel that has a niche. The manager was helpful in recommending places to eat. Room was clean, air conditioner worked, bed was comfortable. You get more than what you pay in nightly rates.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Well, whatever you think about $75/night motel will come true. Property is in desperate need of renovation. Smell and smell of cover up chemicals in the room was so think, you can slice it with a knife. However it was cheap accomodation for me during National matches at Camp Perry and it fulfilled the role. Drink, sleep and get out.
- Derek (10/5): Great little place - Went up for a shooting class at Camp Perry. We booked last minute, this place was inexpensive compared to everything around. It was clean, water pressure was good, quite and there was a marina close for anyone wanting to stay here and go fining. Wills be back again for a weekend I’m the water fishing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The restaurant and lounge are closed. The outside lights went out around 10:30 p.m. making it very unsafe to go to the car. Bring your own water and coffee creamer
- Mark (10/5): - Room was clean, beds were clean. Staff "Linda" was amazing!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This motel was cute and a good place to stop for the night. Expedia deleted my reservation and the lady at the front desk was very helpful. It’s a bit older of a building. The beds were quite firm and the linens thin, but it had everything we needed!
- Verified traveler (6/5): I gave it a try - The woman who runs this place is the sweetest but the hotel itself needs a complete over haul. No way this is up to Covid standards. There were ants in the bathroom. The bathroom door had a terrible patch job thrown on it to I’m assuming fix a very large hole in it. The bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way and the ceiling tiles in the bathroom had a bunch of water damage. The door to get in and out of the room was a struggle to open and close and there were fly’s constantly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesomeness
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a family owned motel. Nothing fancy about it but it is a great place to stay for the price and has all you need. Very clean.
- Donna (8/5): Good value - Great place to stay if you are birding in the area as it is close to Maumee Bay, howard Metro park, Ottawa NWR and Magee Marsh. Room was clean and bed is comfortable.
- James (10/5): Clean comfortable and reasonable - Really nice check in lady. 4 of us in a 2 double bed room left little extra room but the beds were comfortable, water pressure good, and we slept ok considering how excited we were to get started bird watching at super nearby Magee’s Marsh. Nice place - we hope to be back next year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was perfect for an overnight stay prior to a chartered fishing trip. Basic room, nothing exciting, early in the season so the bar & reataurant werent open
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was clean. Towels had stains. Can tell is is an older hotel.
- Chad (6/5): - If you need somewhere to sleep this place is ok. Looking for food your options are limited unless you feel like driving.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Water stains on drop down ceiling. Bar on site with people walking around with drinks outside of room. Premises very tired. Likely good as a fishing lodge, not good for families.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great friendly staff, convenient location, and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet, clean. There are some nice places to eat convenient distance away. Good wifi, friendly staff. Will stay here again.
- JUDY (8/5): Nice and quiet - Quiet, good housekeeping
- Darlene (8/5): Cute, Clean, Quiet - Cute place...can use a little updating but nice, clean and quiet.
- Suzanne (6/5): Basic motor inn. - We just needed inexpensive lodging for a night of our road trip. This lodge is fine, though I still think it's over-priced for how basic the accommodations are. The proprietor was quite friendly. The beds were comfortable. A few things that made it less than wonderful: the water smelled of sulfur, and for that reason we didn't take advantage of in-room coffee maker. there was no coffee available in the lobby, though there was an ice machine. The door had one lock, but the second deadbolt didn't work. Being down on the street level with an exterior entrance means we like to have extra security. The room was what you'd expect from an older motor inn. Happily, there was no smokey or musty smells, so that was nice! There are no places to eat nearby, so we were glad we had a cooler along.
