- Shawn (8/5): Lovely resort for our second girl cousins reunion in a beautiful setting - Water's Edge is on the coast, naturally beautiful setting ~ the resort offers a spa, cafe and fine dining on site and lux studios with water views which are lovely. There were large groups of events. .. weddings, proms so a lot of hall noise as they left their parties. The fine dining menu is very expensive (example a steak at 45.00 did NOT even include a vegetable and the SIDE of mashed potatoes was $11.00. ) Overpriced. The fine dining room gets quite loud with the event (wedding and prom) partiers. It would be nice if they offered suites for four with two beds in each room. The suite my cousin stayed was beatiful but each large bedroom only had one bed.

- maribethm2026 (10/5): Beautiful room with amazing views along with outstanding customer service from everyone from the Front Desk to Dining! - We had an amazing 3 day stay at Waters Edge! When we made our reservation, we requested a quiet room, we changed the dates of our stay at the last minute and our request was lost. When we arrived, our room was as we had requested, 2 queen beds with a balcony and beautiful view. Unfortunately, the room was not quiet, we went to the Front Desk and they could not have been more accommodating and understanding! Without hesitation they provided us with a room that exceeded our expectations in all respects!! We also had several meals at the Hotels restaurants all of which were delicious, especially the Monday Night Lobster Special! Every employee we interacted with was pleasant, friendly, and always happy to be sure we were happy and comfortable.

I also appreciated that each person I spoke with was easy to chat with, friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere is pleasant and clean, views fantastic, and a great place to hold our multi day meeting.
- ekperigin (10/5): 3 nights - Early arrival and our 3 night sneak away began. Even with the snow, the grounds were lovely. Picked up lunch and dinner at Westbrook Pizza (right on premise with shared parking lot). King room with balcony was spacious, clean and comfortable. Delicious dinner lobster boil and nachos. Beautiful dining experience. Took advantage of the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Perfect temperature all around. Did enjoy the gym one day for bike and free weights. Hope to come again later in the year for a spa day. All of the staff was wonderful and a shout out to April who made the check in process seamless.

- ginadR2887HK (10/5): Outstanding food, atmosphere and service. Amazing views too! - Water’s Edge is our go to place for the food, atmosphere, views, and service. During summer months, we are there at least once a week. We decided to go on a cold Saturday night for the surf and turf special. Once again, we were not disappointed. The filet mignon was perfectly done and the lobster tail was one of the best we have ever had. Of course, the carrot bisque special soup and Caesar salad were also done perfectly. Whenever we go, we ask for our favorite waitress, Serena. She is always upbeat, attentive, and just a pleasant person. Serena adds to the perfect experience at Water’s Edge. We’re looking forward to going back!

- joanneaC5144LP (10/5): Blizzard 2026 - Had a wonderful experience recently at this beautiful resort! Had planned to go from Saturday 2/21 with check out on Monday 2/23 ! Upon arrival the weather forecast had changed a bit and were looking at a blizzard named Hernando coming towards us on Sunday into Monday so it quickly became clear there would be no chance to depart on Monday and realized we would be there until Tuesday instead ! Having said that.. I feel that they did a fantastic job of keeping staff on site to ensure uninterrupted service especially at the restaurant! The staff was absolutely amazing , professional and knowledgeable and I’m sure exhausted staying on site for multiple back to back shifts ! While the entire staff was amazing I do want to give a shout out to Zee our amazing server who smiled through multiple meal times and shifts ensuring we were comfortable, fed and satisfied! Thank you Zee for making our trip unforgettable! Would also like to mention the Valet/ Front door gentleman on duty Tuesday morning after the storm! We had valet parked and our car was delivered to the front door by him after he cleaned off greater than a foot of snow ! l do wish I had gotten his name ! Thank you to all of the staff who weathered Hernando!!! and left myself and my friend with wonderful memories!

Check-in is easy, setting a relaxing tone.. The rooms are comfortable, immaculate, and well-prepared. The property is carefully maintained; it offers a calm, quiet environment, perfect for unwinding without interruptions. The staff is friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The food and beverages are excellent, and the breathtaking scenery adds to a memorable stay. It’s also a great venue for business events or meetings—highly recommended!

My husband got us a spa package, which included dinner at the restaurant and a couples’ massage at the spa. The hotel was very nice inside. Our room was large, clean, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Service at the restaurant and spa was very nice. We had a very enjoyable weekend.

We planned to have a spa day, but the “amenities” they listed like sauna and hot tub are not part of the spa. They are just the general pool area of the hotel, nowhere near the spa. Incidently they were packed with kids (great for romantic Valentine’s weekend). We tried to book a couple’s massage, but the woman at the spa desk insisted they didn’t offer them. When we go to our seperate massages, they were in couple’s rooms. Made no sense. The spa staff we’re not helpful at all. We booked their prix fixe Valentine’s dinner in their “Fine Dining” restaurant. We were seated at a table that still had the previous people’s dirty plates and glasses on it. Took 15 mins to clear and set the table with us at it! It took about 45 mins between each course. Yes, it was busy, but plenty of staff standing around looking lost and confused. All of the food was overcooked and cold. Every table near us had issues. Sending back food and drinks. People were missing silverware, getting the wrong orders, etc. complete hot mess all around. Our waitress tried to charge us for the meal we had prepaid for, then got rude as we tried to explain. In all, the staff couldn’t care less, even at the front desk. We spent just under $1k for one night, dinner (no drinks included) and two massages. Complete waste of money and a romantic getaway. Save your money and go elsewhere!

- Tour61856044142 (10/5): Water's Edge, a wonderful place to relax and recharge - My wife and I like to take a short trip to Water's Edge in Westbrook, CT every January to celebrate my birthday. To be fair, we visit Water's Edge every year. We like to take advantage of the resort's Black Friday deals and got a terrific deal on a room we love. When we checked in, we discovered that this was not the room we were hoping for. A call to the front desk, connected us to Amy who totally made our stay the best, upgrading us many times over. Can't say thanks to Amy enough. Waters Edge is comfortable and cozy. The lobby fireplace is just the place to enjoy a cocktail on a cold winter night. Oh Management, please do not replace the wood fireplace with gas. Not the same ambiance! Our thanks go out to all the staff there, especially the crew of Valet Parking, and yes the bar staff. Waters Edge never disappoints. One of our favorite places to stay.

- Ruth (9/5): Expensive but pretty and restful. Needs some updating and free breakfast is needed. - We were upgraded to a lovely room because our King ocean front was not yet ready. It was comfortable, clean and quiet. Considering the price of our room, I think complimentary breakfast should be included. At the very least, "free" Starbucks should be included. The coffeepot in the room, with the standard coffee, just doesn't measure up. And a refrigerator in the room would have been nice also. When I went down to the Starbucks one morning, AFTER the hour it was supposed to open, there was nobody to be found and everything was closed up tight. I had to beg for some milk from the kitchen to take up to the room so I could put it in my coffee in the room. Very disappointing. And one last thing - PLEASE attend to the exercise equipment in the gym. The elliptical machine was so rusty and noisy it was unusable.

I bring all my out of state friends here. I am also a travel agent. The tv n remote were very old and did not work well. I asked for help and got a second old remote. Elegant old school sea side resort with gorgeous holiday decor and incredibly helpful staff especially April at the front desk who was so warm and welcoming and Andrew who helped with our fireplace. We stayed in lanai suite with loft and it was perfect. Tons of room and light and an ez walk to beach and lobby. Great coffee and pastries on site and restaurant looked great but we didnt try. Lots of local cute options in Essex and Deep River. Hoping to try Spa next time too! Highly reccomend Waters edge!

Not only was it amazing to knit in front of a picture window with an awesome view of the water, but the Water’s Edge people were fantastic! Everyone was so warm, friendly, and accommodating four our large group. The food was fantastic and the bar was just a hop, skip, & jump away for evening knit-and-sips. The room had everything I needed and was so relaxing after long days of classes and camaraderie. I’m definitely coming to this same retreat next year and will tell everyone I know about this place

Please note, this is a wedding venue, and parking can become tight during events. However, it was lovely to watch a bride walk down toward the water – such a beautiful backdrop! What we loved: Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets Beautifully maintained grounds with lounge chairs right by the ocean Fire pits overlooking the ocean – perfect for relaxing evenings Spa, fitness center, and on-site restaurants for convenience Super friendly and accommodating staff, and clean accommodations Firepit for our only rainy day! Grocery store (Big-Y), coffee shops within walking distance. What could be improved: No vegan entrée options at the restaurant (we ended up eating off-site most nights) Some of the furniture felt dated. The couch wasn’t very comfortable, but the bed was enjoyable. No stove in the unit, which made vegan dining a bit tougher If staying on a lower level, you will hear voices, footsteps, and toilet flushes from above. This can be jarring. Overall, the setting and hospitality far outweighed the minor inconveniences. The sunsets, ocean views, and warmth of the staff made this a truly memorable stay!
- nicolew437 (4/5): beautiful grounds, room was a dump. not worth the money - went here for a wedding, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous!!......but the room was terrible, dirty floors, old carpets, water marks on ceiling there was bottles of water but a very small note saying they were $6 each if opened ( for over 500 per night we should get water). very disappointing to say the least, was not asked how our stay was while checking out, no complimentary breakfast and the Starbucks was out of most ingredients to mark coffees. Parking is also the worst ive seen, not nearly enough spaces, glad we got there early. wish we booked the holiday inn 20 mins away

Unfortunately, we didn’t have the full opportunity to enjoy our stay as we had lots of day plans and we just stayed over to sleep.

The sunsets from the rear deck were incredible. Our room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The couch in the living room was comfortable too. Small but adequate kitchen. The air/heating unit was a little loud but the weather was such that we didn't need to run it very often.
- everly23 (10/5): Comfort at Water's Edge Resort and Spa - This is a spacious resort and spa with great time-share duplex apartments that has all the amenities you would want. Having a restaurant on site is also convenient, though there are better places to eat nearby. The staff is nice and helpful though we had a bit of a snafu when we checked in. One of the golf cart drivers turned a bottled water container upside down - and the cap wasn't on tightly, so it leaked on much of my clothes that were in the same bag. At least it was just water! We haven't used the indoor pool or hot tub but they looked nice and clean when we took a little tour upon first arrival. This is a wedding spot so be forewarned, (the parking lot was pretty full) though otherwise it didn't interfere with our plans in any way. Granite counters in the kitchen area and bathroom, a comfortable seating and dining area on the main floor with a fireplace and an upstairs loft space with two single beds. The master bedroom was on the main floor. They also have two sinks, which is a nice amenity but I can't imagine sharing the one bathroom with four people. Perfect for two, though. A great place to stay with superb restaurants nearby.

Ice machine next to room out of order, they said they would attend to it. But it was still out of order when we left. The unit on top of it was very, very noisy as well. Beautiful location. Friendly, helpful staff. But somewhat run down surprisingly. Finish coming off door handles, etc., etc

I do feel that the property is dated and is in need of updates. I was most diapppointed in the indoor pool area. Paint is chipping off the walls, and there is rust around the door frames. It is really in need of a good paint job. The sauna in the women's locker room was not working. The front desk staff was lewss than hositable during check in and check out. They mentioned they were tired after a busy summer season.

I wanted to share this feedback so it can be addressed for the sake of future guests.
