Guest Reviews
- Jason (10/5): - Deb was a tremendous host. Quiet and convenient. Parking for free was icing on the cake.
- Janice (8/5): - Very accommodating about late arrival. Friendly and clean.
- Kim (10/5): - Deb, the owner was welcoming and helpful. The house was adorable and the history of the neighborhood intriguing. The area felt very safe and was able to walk to shops and restaurants.
- Kathy (10/5): - Owner is very accommodating. Lovely attic suite with plenty of a/c. Breakfasts had a generous assortment of options. This place is very convenient to walk to restaurants and stores. I would definitely stay here again.
- Stephen (10/5): - Loved it all. Especially the front porch swing
- Jill (10/5): A must stay in Indy - This a great place to stay if you need to be in downtown Indy. You can walk to so many great places to see or eat. We stayed in the attic room and it was really nice. Big living room, kitchen, bath, bedroom, and a huge closet area. I would highly recommend The Harney House as a place to stay.
Deb, the owner, makes you feel right at home.
- Margo (10/5): - Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!
Location! Staff! Comfort!
Debbie is the best possible host! The apartment is modern, clean and comfortable. Walkable to all downtown Indy has to offer.
So much better than staying in a hotel!!
- Todd (4/5): - Property is an older historic home which is in need of repair. Carpeting on stairs worn down gouges along walls from where luggage has hit it. Outside of home needs painting and unfortunately street in front of home very busy riddled with pot holes very loud. Owner is a nice person and they are trying their best but property needs maintenance. Price not in line with standard expectations.
- David (10/5): Loved our stay!! - This B&B was so peaceful and clean. The family that runs the B&B are super friendly and love chatting about the building history and the area. They were accommodating and pleasant. The room was clean and the air conditioner kept the room very comfortable. We used all the small appliances, refrig, TV, microwave, etc and all worked well. The bathroom was remodeled and very nice. We loved our stay, we would recommend this stay for anyone who wants to experience Indy on a personal level!!
- Sara (10/5): - Very friendly owner. Flexible for check in. Breakfast brought to room. All around great experience, neat room.
- Kathy (10/5): - The space was wonderful. Great decor and everything you might need. Continental breakfast delivered at a specified time. Items requested from nice menu offering. Location is great with free on site parking. Friendly innkeeper. Definitely hope to return.
- Montgomery (10/5): - Lovely home and host. Perfect downtown location. Very comfortable.
- John (10/5): - Love the neighborhood, the staff and the friendliness. Thank you for a great stay
- Frank (8/5): - Very nice B&B in one of the best areas of town. Debbie was great and the place was really nice. Only disappointment was that the breakfast area was closed "due to Covid" and a ok breakfast was brought to the room.
- James (10/5): Antiques! - This is a lovingly restored historic house in Lockerbie Square. Penthouse is recently upgraded but family anitques abound throughout. Simple diverse breakfast menu; choice was delivered to our suite due to dining room closure for COVID restriction. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- Crystal (10/5): - Nice B&B! Walked 2 blocks to a concert at Old National (Murat). Only problem was fold out bed was not usable. My daughters slept on the couch and chair/ottoman but they didn’t mind, said they slept well!
- Richard (10/5): - Location near Mass Ave is excellent
- Dawnna (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay, geat house and hostess. All apartment have full kitchens and well furnished living rooms. Two downsides the tv doesn't get strong enough signal to get any stations. Wifi doesn't have enough strength to reach 33rd floor
- Christopher (10/5): - This house, as well as many houses in the neighborhood have so much character! Truly beautiful vintage house that was still up-to-date with everything we needed. Deb made check in and out very simple and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast has many choices, it was brought up right on time. The whole neighborhood was so charming, would recommend to visitors to the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay in a beautiful downtown home. - Great stay in a beautiful old home. Convenient onsite parking, close to the highway & walking distance to downtown. The attic apartment was spacious & quiet, with great views of the city.
- Cynthia (10/5): Great location, cute & clean - The Inn has an excellent location, walkable to many restaurants and a grocery on Massachusetts but not right on that busy street so the neighborhood was quiet. We stayed in the “penthouse”, a fully renovated former attic with a full kitchen (including dishes) and living room. It was very clean and included several interesting furniture pieces. The owner is helpful and clearly has invested much of herself into this place. One caveat, it is up three flights of narrow stairs and has attic ceilings (sloping in on sides) that make the small shower seem smaller, so this is not a place for anyone with mobility issues. Also, the dining room is still closed for covid (Nov 2021), so each guest fills out a checkbox menu the night before and the owner delivers a basket of your selections to your room in the morning at the time requested. The full kitchen includes a coffee maker (w coffee selection) and a toaster.
- chris (10/5): - The owner of the house was very pleasant and helpful during our stay
- Peggy (10/5): Unique place!!! - The cozy apartment was In the best location. It’s a beautiful vintage neighborhood , close to restaurants, shops , and bars. The host was wonderful!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful surprise find in downtown Indy - We celebrated our anniversary this past weekend and stay in the penthouse. It was so bright and airy with new kitchen appliances. Views from every window. Easy walk over to Mass Ave and the Bottleworks district. Will stay here again.
- Jeff (10/5): Wonderful historic home - This lovely historical home is so warm and cozy. Deb is the best kind of host: attentive and kind, and yet respects privacy. We stayed in the “penthouse “ and had the third floor to ourselves!
- Laura (10/5): Very happy with our stay. - We really enjoyed our stay at The Harney House. The owner is very nice and keeps the house nice and clean. It's comfortable and welcoming as well. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go and the parking is included which is also a huge benefit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint historical home. Beautiful inside... refurbished with the right amount of charm. Easy check in/check out. One block from many great restaurants on Mass Ave as well as The Murat Theatre. Really enjoyed our stay. Beds comfy, breakfast yummy. We’ll be returning.
- Sarah (10/5): - My stay at The Harney House Inn was incredible. I felt like I was staying in my own cozy home, but with top notch service and attention to every detail of my visit. Deb, the owner, offered assistance for every need I could think of, catered fresh breakfast to my schedule, and made herself available 24/7 if anything else came up. All those things on top of being right in the heart of downtown Indy? I hope I get the opportunity to stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quaint and Cozy - This BB was super quaint and cozy! Deb was very friendly and accomodating. The room was spacious. Loved the heaters for both the bedroom and the sitting area. It was an extra touch to have movies you could choose from to watch. The breakfast had a large spread and tasted great! We walked to the Old National Centre which took less than 5 minutes. Loved the historic aspects of the place.
- Leah (10/5): Perfect getaway - We absolutley loved the Harney House. Everything was perfect. Breakfast was good. Deb was very welcoming. The location was great and within walking distance to everything we needed. We will def be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location to Mass Ave, downtown, shopping. Everything within a short walking distance. Ease to the interstate .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The apartment was very nice and close to many attractions downtown. Parking is tight and the roads around the property are all one way so you have to drive around the block to come back to the property when returning or arriving. A lot of the streets in the area look little more than alleys and almost every street is full with on street parking blocking the view of drivers turning into traffic. The shower was a bit small and the batteries in the remote did not work but it is a nice place although a bit pricey.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love this place! I would definitely recommend it!
- JohnG (10/5): - This is a charming older B&B in the Indy area. Deb, the hostess, was very nice and personable and fixed a great breakfast. Parking is behind the house and is good for typical vehicles but my F150 Supercrew was a tight fit...still fit, but tight.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a great little bnb with a nice owner and a great location!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - large space, full kitchen, small shower for 6 foot person.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This bed and breakfast is located right downtown close to Massachusetts Ave. it’s very charming. Felt like I was transported back in time to the 1940s but still had all the amenities that you want.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good location, nice house and atmosphere, overall very good experience
- Verified traveler (10/5): - loved all of it-the house, my suite, the neighborhood(esp.)
Debbie is a lovely person-I wish her continued success.
- Cynthia (10/5): Awesome! - Loved this place... very homey feel and the hostess was so helpful! The breakfast was very good and if I need to travel to Indianapolis again, I will definitely stay here again!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, we had a great stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Girls getaway - Harney House was a great place to stay for our one night stay in Indy. Our room was very clean and a good space. The House was in a great location and close to arena and restaurants. Water and snacks were available during the stay and the breakfast was convenient.
- Raymond (8/5): Great Weekend - The location was perfect. An easy walk to downtown. Breakfast was great. The house was awesome and has an interesting history. Our hostess took great care to make our stay comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the area of the property and how homey it felt. Snacks, drinks, and movies were provided along with breakfast which made for a complete stay of you didn’t want to leave the house. They also provided take out menus and menus of places in the area, history of the house, and events going on downtown. It was very clean and organized. Everything you could possibly need was provided. I would definitely recommend this to others, and would love to come back for a second stay :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautifullyrestored boarding house. Delicious full beakfast. Each unit is spacious and comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rich history. Great accommodations and wonderful breakfast! Located in a historical neighborhood, safe and convenient to downtown. We WILL be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For our purposes, the Garden room was a better fit than the Penthouse. The Penthouse would be perfect for someone in the area on business or pleasure for multiple days who wants to save money/time by preparing some meals on site (there is a large grocery store within walking distance). The Penthouse has a full stove, full fridge, and everything you need to prepare your meals. The trade off is that the bed is smaller (but it's actually more comfortable than the Garden room), and the shower would be a challenge for anyone who is tall or on the heavy side. We did love the extra space in the living room, all the lighting from the extra windows, plus the view and extra privacy from being the only people on the top floor. It's nice to be able to choose the suite that meets your needs best. Book early to be sure that you get your first choice!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The whole house was awesome. Clean. Smelles great. Huge penthouse suite. Close to everything
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was awesome, and the attention to detail was fabulous. The spa tub was perfect after a day spent traipsing around the city. I highly recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Harney House Inn was just what I wanted. I stayed in the Penthouse - top floor with large kitchen and sitting room, lots of natural light, and a comfortable bed in a charming neighborhood close to city center. This is an older house with character and Innkeeper is very welcoming and attentive. Temperatures were below zero outside but the visit was warm, cozy, and quiet. I kept my vehicle parked in the private parking area and got around with quick and inexpensive ride-sharing (Uber and Lyft).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great stay at Harney House. Place is very clean and updated. We would definitely come again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay, I will definitely stay here again.
- Keely (10/5): - Wonderful stay at The Harvey House Inn! Great location, wonderful neighborhood, and lovely room. There were snacks and drinks available, which was such a nice, thoughtful touch. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.
- Timike (10/5): - Harney House is one of the best places that we have stayed in. It has a great location, all the amenities we need, and our host is charming. It is also simply fun. Breakfast is lovely too!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely old house with a lot of history and hard work put into it to renovate. They have done an amazing job. It's in a great location. We stayed here to be in walking distance of the murat theater for a concert. Deb was a wonderful hostess. Breakfast was so fresh. Everything about it was great. Definitely will be back if we are ever in the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): B&B in downtown Indy - Innkeeper Debbie very friendly and helpful with area information. Breakfast foods were good - but a bit unusual that everybody eats at their own time that they've requested - so there's very little opportunity for interaction/conversation with other guests - which is always a fun component of staying in a B&B.
- elizabeth (10/5): A Real Gem!! - Great place to stay. Room has recently been updated with a nice kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath. Great breakfast! Would definitely stay there again!!
- Katie (10/5): - Our stay at the Harney House Inn was absolutely incredible! We stayed in the Garden Room, and could not have been more happy with the amenities and comfort that the room had to offer. The Inn is in an excellent location and just minutes from downtown Indy. We enjoyed walking downtown and finding some of the local eats in the area. We were so pleased with the owner's hospitality, and she will definitely address any and all needs that you have during your stay. It is safe to say that we will definitely be back soon, and would highly recommend! You won't be disappointed! :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Anniversary weekend - Spent one night for an anniversary get-a-way in downtown Indy. Location was fabulous, with charming surroundings, proximity to Mass Ave and downtown entertainment. Stayed in the top floor room that had a full kitchen and living room. Everything was fine, not fancy (e.g. old TV). Breakfast was simple but more than enough after dining out the night before.
- MJ (10/5): - We were attending a show at the Murat, and this place is just a 5 minute walk away. Also close to restaurants, bars, and shopping on Mass Ave. Debbie was great, the place was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious! We will stay here again!
- TimandMike (10/5): - Harney House is an intimate, charming place to stay in a lovely historic Indianapolis neighborhood. The location near restaurants and shopping opportunities was perfect. We could not have found better place to stay for our long Labor Day weekend. Deb Harney treats her guests really well.
Tim Kraetsch & Mike Wavra
- Martha (6/5): - Bed was very very firm, breakfast wasn’t anything to wow you, it was comparable to a hotel free breakfast. Shower is tiny.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed at the Harney House for a one-night getaway to the city. The location was amazing -- right by Mass Ave, and an easy walk to downtown. Deb was the sweetest host who made us feel right at home. Breakfast was delicious, too. Would definitely recommend!
- Tommy (8/5): Nice B&B in Lockerbie Square - Nice B&B in Lockerbie Square, very close to restaurants, pubs, and coffee. I had the large attic suite. Very comfortable living room and ample kitchen. A few nice antique touches as well. Good wifi, too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice B&B in a great urban location. Wakling distance to many shops and restaurants and the Murat Theater.
- christopher (10/5): - Very comfortable space. Kitchenette makes a nice home feel. 2 blocks from Mass Ave. Best restaurant row in Indy.
- Daniel (10/5): - Great service and location. Would definitely stay again.
- Anthony (4/5): Stepping Back in Time - I haven't seen a cubed old TV for many years, but there is one here in the pent house. The fire escape is through a trap door in the bedroom. If your the type of person that likes to be thrifty and do your own cooking, this bed and breakfast is up your alley. Host was pleasant and polite.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location for walking access to much of downtown Indianapolis. Complimentary water bottles, soda, snacks. Friendly, accommodating staff. Enjoyable breakfast with some portables (fruit, muffins).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner is very nice and accommodating. Really feels like home. I will definitely be back :-)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Harney House was Close to venue, comfortable suite friendly staff. Overall a thumbs up!👍
- Lisa (10/5): Would stay again - In preparation for our trip, Deb was extremely accommodating as we tried to figure out what time we needed to arrive, parking, check in, etc. The Harney House is very conveniently located to many restaurants/bars. We stayed here for a concert at Old National Centre and it was an easy walk. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we had much more space for 3 of us than had we stayed at a hotel. We especially enjoyed the little touches like snacks and drinks being available at any time for us to grab after a long night out.
- Jim (10/5): Great location! - Found this B & B, just a couple blocks from the Murat Theater in a nice neighborhood. Lots of coffee houses, restaurants, etc.; all within @ 3-4 blocks.
Historical building with same decor; nicely preserved! Very good breakfast with hot food.
- Krystle (10/5): Cozy place close to the Murat and other shops - We had a fabulous girls night here. There's much to walk around and do right by the B&B. The porch swings I bet are great when the weather is a little warmer. This place is an affordable little gem with antique decor, tasty breakfast, and friendly and accommodating staff. We will make it back again!
