Guest Reviews
- Ruth (10/5): Convenient, economical, unique - Cabin was cute. Beautiful view of empty plains. Very peaceful. Drawback was that the bathrooms were in a separate building. However we had two bathroom stalls and two shower stalls dedicated to our cabin so you would never have to wait for a bathroom or shower. Great outdoor kitchenette that we shared with another cabin. It was an economical place to stay, convenient to both two medicine and st. Marys. Nice for families.
- Terry (10/5): Everything I hoped! - I absolutely loved staying here! Beautiful area, cozy and comfortable cabin, and delightful owner. I hope to return.
- Tamao (10/5): Love every minute of my stay! - The bear cabin I stayed was nicely decorated and was comfortable to stay even when it got hotter during the day. The patio kitchen and dining area were well organized and equipped. It was lovely to sit there and relax. I wish I could stay longer!
- Rebecca (8/5): - Our cabin was clean and the location was lovely. Unfortunately while we were there, it rained almost constantly, which made the separate building for the shower and restroom inconvenient. The water in said shower/restroom building did not get very hot, which was disappointing after a long day of rainy hiking. Otherwise everything was great!
- Michele (8/5): - The property was clean. The one thing that I did not see listed clearly was the fact that the bathroom is private BUT in a separate building from where you sleep. The host was very nice and the outdoor kitchen was nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our stay here for 3 nights while going to the East side of Glacier Park. The owner is very nice and extremely accomodating and also had a neat little art studio. While it is only the 2 cabins now I bet when they done the tipis and all it was a neat learning experience. Traveling out west I pretty much knew what to expect as far as a very open plain area. Also that most on reservations let their dogs run loose. I made a buddy with the neighbors Blue Heeler. He was at my door every morning for coffee Lol.He craves attention but not aggresive at all. The place is very clean and she has a grill along with mini fridge, fresh water, coffee and teas, plenty of dishes.and very nice porch area to just relax. There are 2 groceries in town and a casino that has a resturant which is basic but they do carry a bit of varity from a beef hot shot, chicken strips to a NY Strip
Then there is a Taco Johns and well we tried to go to Subway but you might want to stay away. Town is an old Indian reservation area so just be aware of your surroundings . Her property is a few miles out though and very nice and tranquil. This was a trip for me and my son and we both would definetly stay there again. Loved how clean and the artistic work she has put into this place.
- david (4/5): - The cabin was clean and cozy. It was all downhill after that. The Lodgepole features 2 cabins with “private” bathrooms. While this is technically true the bathrooms are in a separate building. Each cabin has keys to their bathroom. Not at all convenient if you need to use it in the middle of the night. Our cabin was 100’ from the bathroom. Two showers in our BR. Only one had hot water. In retrospect I saw this mentioned in reviews from 2021. The walk to the bath room was made more inconvenient due to the ever present wild dog that roamed the property. It was friendly, and we own dogs, but we didn’t appreciate having a dirty strange dog jumping on us every time we left the room. This was especially problematic after dark. There was a nice outdoor kitchen/deck that would have been lovely to sit out on, if we didn’t have to constantly chase the wild dog away. The listing also promised a lake view. There was no sign of water in august, so it is unclear if the lake still exists.
- Jane (10/5): - Wonderful location with beautiful views. The owner was very accommodating. Everything was clean. A new grill was available for use. The Art gallery was a bonus!
- Abby (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay here! It's a native art gallery with a couple cabins available. There was a separate but private showerhouse, meaning it is separate from the cabin, but the showerhouse you are assigned is just for you. We stayed here while we were exploring Glacier National Park. We loved having our coffee on the deck overlooking the prairie. We loved chatting with the owner as well! We would love to stay here again!!
- Marta (10/5): - Amazing property with fantastic views of the prairie. A different experience but the open shared deck with the outdoor kitchen and full view of the prairie is wonderful. Hosts are super helpful. Cabins are small but clean. We will be back.
- Dira (10/5): - Amazing! Super clean and host was so friendly but gave us space. Location was perfect distance to the park . Quiet and relaxing place
- Lu (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at this place. It's thoughtfully designed and maintained. A special and nice lodge experience for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cozy property with expansive views. Wonderful outdoor kitchen and patio for taking in the beauty of the great divide!
- Sherri (10/5): Excellent -- Hope to stay again someday! - The lodgings were super clean and well looked after.
- Todd (10/5): Unique experience! - Awesome views very peaceful! The property has 2 separate cabins with a bath house with 2 sides, 1 for each cabin. It is just a few steps away. Also a common area that you can enjoy coffee at sunrise. The cabins are new and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location from which to base day trips to Glacier National Park, especially when you haven’t been able to get a Park pass and need to be in before 6am. Accommodation is approximately 30 minute drive to eastern park gates.
- Deneen (8/5): - This is a property that is on an Indian Art Gallery. It's very nice - new cabins. The shower / restroom house is close by and very clean. It was very quiet and the little outdoor porch on the cabin is very nice. Also, the "common" area is very nice. A covered deck with coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. We really enjoyed our two night stay.
- Steven (10/5): Surprisingly quiet and quaint stay - This was a very quiet wonderful stay. It was a perfect distance to GNP. 15 mins from the East entrance, 30 mins from St. Mary (GTTSR) and an hour from Many Glacier and the West entrance. There are only two cabins on the property with a detached but private bathroom. The kitchen is shared between cabins but the host does provide dinnerware, frig, coffee pot, and microwave. She also has a Native American art gallery on site, which is lovely. Browning is a 2 min drive as well. Definitely will book again when coming to GNP.
- Paul (8/5): - Very peaceful unique property that lets you enjoy Blackfoot culture and beautiful east Glacier views
- Sue (8/5): - Very nice quiet place to visit.
- Gregory (10/5): - The property was beautiful. Very quiet and close to Browning.
- Michael (10/5): - Very nice property
- Alan (10/5): - Great quiet cabin on the prairie!
- Nancy (8/5): Quaint and Comfortable - We loved coming back to this place after hiking in Glacier Park all day. It was a bit of drive from the park but it was worth it as this place was peaceful, quiet, comfortable and had beautiful sunsets! The owner was very nice and we enjoyed visiting with her. The shared patio with a coffee bar and a small fridge, we could use, was very inviting!
- Virginia (10/5): - Location was ideal for visiting Glacier National Park. Property was very quiet, clean and private. Check in/out was super easy.
- Arlene (10/5): - Quiet property. Cute cabins. Friendly owner.
- Daniel Paul (6/5): - Other than it being a quiet setting we didn’t care for it much. The bathroom has two showers, one of the showers the shower head worked fine but no hot water and the other had hot water and hardly any water came out. And the term lake view is a little overrated.
- David (10/5): East of Glacier - Nice unique spot East of Glacier National Park
- Miria (10/5): - The location, privacy, peacefulness of the cabin was wonderful. The lady who runs it was friendly and helpful. This was a great experience.
- Sonya (8/5): - Nice little cabin with a view out over a pond and the plains. Lovely open common space.
Nice host.
Only minor issue was water pressure and temperature in the shower.
- Kalina K (10/5): - It was artistic, beautiful and fascinating as well as full of the wonders of the prairie and the Montana night sky
- Lisa (8/5): - Quaint cottage on the plains. Bathhouse is separate, but private. Close to the eastern entrances of Glacier National Park.
- Jarmila (8/5): - great view of the Glacier National Park and a good place to relax after a long day of hiking.
- Kent (10/5): - The Cabins were very and enjoyed our stay.
- Mousheng (10/5): - it's quite a unique experience. This lodging place is more like a luxury campground. Quite scenic and quite. However, there is no shower in the room, and at night I am afraid of wild animals or dogs -- although the host said there is rarely any wild animals to concern about.
- Mai (10/5): - Quiet, idyllic cabin just outside east Glacier. Lovely sleep with the windows open which cooled the room to my liking.
Clean, comfortable
- Geoffrey (10/5): Lodgepole Gallery is great - This place is amazing! It is a really peaceful, comfortable, and beautiful place to stay - much needed after the stress and bustle of Glacier National Park. Do yourself a favor, and stay here!
- Benjamin (2/5): - This was completely unsuitable for a trip with my older father. It also advertised being able to sleep 3 - really it can only sleep 2 comfortably.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The area was scenic and the beds comfortable. There was a private bathhouse for each of the two cabins. Would have been nice to have the bathrooms in the cabin but very clean and a generous size. There was no hot water at the time of our stay so unable to take a shower. Overall a great, more rustic experience!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Unique experience sleeping in a tipi. Nice to get away from it all (no TV, music, air con, etc).
Limited local food options, but facilities to BBQ your own on site
- Julie (10/5): - If you’re looking for ‘glamping’, you’ll be quite disappointed (this isn’t for you). But, if you’re realistic about your expectations, this is a great experience in a convenient location. I’d describe it like tent camping with a nice (clean) bathhouse, an indoor lounge area with kitchenette-like amenities (microwave, toaster, coffee & tea options), plus 2 grills for shared use, and an outdoor ‘arbor’ (gathering area) with a fire pit. The hosts have given a lot of thought to guest comfort, and there were touches I didn’t expect.
We spent 3 cool rainy/stormy nights (lows in the 40s), and were very comfortable...but we’d also brought our sleeping bags to supplement (rated 20F). The provided bedding was a tarp (for under & over bedding), foam mattress, sheet, Coleman sleeping bag (rated 50F?), matching pillow, and wool blanket. It would have been plenty on a warm, dry evening, or with a fire burning. (We never lit ours in the tipi, but firewood & guidance are provided.) We were surprised how dry it was, considering. (Much better than a leaky tent.)
21 trains pass through Browning daily; you’ll hear them, along with other outdoor noises. Some may be bothered; we found it charming. As mentioned, there are 2 large dogs that roam the property. They were very friendly, but unavoidable for anyone who doesn’t like dogs.
We enjoyed our stay and spent the rest of our trip sharing the unique experience with others. The caveats are so others know what to expect and also enjoy!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly enjoyed meeting everyone. Lovey setting.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Once-in-a-lifetime - Be sure to give correct number of guests as they prepare the tipi ahead of time. Don’t forget that spiders can and will go into your tent. Overall, it was an interesting and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very unique old fashion nice place.
The only thing what I’d add it’s heater/fire place in the tipi otherwise it’s excelent!
- Angie (10/5): - This property is a group of Native America teepees. It’s exactly what it sounds like. We took our own air mattresses and sleeping bags. The weather was in the 70s during the day and 40s at night. A bit chilly but it was manageable with a fire inside our teepee
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We arrived during a rain storm which was predicted to and did last all night. We were told that the Tipi's would leak water but that we could move the mattresses and sleeping bags around. There were tarps placed over the sleeping items to keep them dry, but they had holes in them from the previous camp fires lit in the tipi. I asked if we could cancel and get our money back since the tipi was guaranteed to leak and was told no. Therefore, we slept in the tipi and it did leak in many directions and we ran out of space to move the beds to. I felt it was unreasonable that they knew they would leak and refused to give us any money back if we did not stay there. The host charged a guest $50.00 to tell a 30 minute story about the people on the reservation and their history to the group. It all seemed unreasonable to me.
- CarolynSiemens (4/5): - Before booking I reviewed other tipi villages and this one had great reviews - despite the $300/night Cdn rate I decided this was likely the best of the bunch.
We arrived late so we knew it would be a bit challenging to get settled but there was no guide or any lighting/electricity at all to get to our site. There were many gopher holes throughout the property that were not marked and when It is dark that is dangerous.
We finally settled into our tipi, and started a fire. It was very cold throughout the night.
The bathrooms were quite a distance away so that was challenging too.
They said there was breakfast in the morning but there was nothing at all besides coffee. Extremely disappointed for a $300 rate. Will not be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place, view, facilities, cleanliness and over all tipi idea was amazing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - My husband and I stayed in a cabin which was spacious enough for the two of us. The bathroom was close by and walking there during the night wasn't bad because I could enjoy the expansive view across the plain. Wifi was available in the common area which also had a kitchen. A grill was available for public use.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly people, the unique sleeping arrangement.
The place where the towels were stored and coffee available was locked, so we couldn't take showers or get coffee before we headed out in the morning.
- Pearl (8/5): - The people were very friendly, the scenery was beautiful and it was quiet
- Maile (10/5): - Darrell and Angelica and Roxanne were hospitable, welcoming, and friendly upon our arrival. It’s a beautiful location and a really novel experience to stay in a tipi! I’d definitely return.
- Mark (8/5): - A great experience to sleep at this location in tipi's. We really enjoyed being on the prairie and getting the distant sounds of trains and animals. It brought a thoroughly enjoyable gift to our trip.
- thomas d (8/5): Nomadic experience in the prairie - Bedding and sleeping bag was surprisingly comfortable. Interesting to sleep in teepee. It was very windy so the smoke from fire in the fire ring in the teepee spread all over. Overall it was a very interesting experience.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Seeking History and Found Crime. - Don’t believe the prior reviews. There is not a bed in tipi. It will fill with smoke to a dangerous level if you light fire inside tipi to stay warm. The community “pit” is really a couple trash cans and picnic table. Fires are not allowed outside and there are no story times or tours. There is zero food within miles and property managers do not provide breakfast. The bathrooms are clean, but with 5-6 dogs roaming the property they like the warmth of the bathroom more than you, and are willing to prove it. Zero activities on or near property. Browning is down the road, but other than a smoke filled casino, it is too dangerous to hang out. The locals want nothing to do with tourist. Your best bet is to stay near one of the Glacier parks. Avoid this site and Browning area in general. I was seeking history and found crime.
- ali (8/5): - bathroom need to be upgraded
- Sandy (8/5): Unique experience of tipi camping "like" natives - Canvas tipis arranged and oriented probably similar to traditional layout. No floor to accommodate central fire pit. Wood supplied and instructions on maintaining a safe fire...this was really a neat experience.
Lots of dogs running through the tipi area at night. It could be that they are there to maybe keep wandering bears from bothering the tipi village? However, their bursts of barking and yapping frequently interrupted sleep at night. (Probably part of the native experience?)
Two sounds of civilization on the plains include the train line to the south, but it is a low pitch and no whistles. The gravel pit operation just behind the hill to the west is a louder, much more intrusive sound by machines moving small rocks, and that starts ~a little after sunrise.
- Shane (10/5): - You are sleeping on the ground with the fire between you inside the TP. They provided a sleeping bag and a foam cushion so it was very comfortable. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and it was an experience that should not be missed.
- David (10/5): - Never slept in a teepee before and this was really fun. Very nice place, fun to meet other campers and nice facility to relax and get out of heat for a while. The owner made everything comfortable as possible considering you are sleeping in a teepee!
- susan (10/5): Authentic tipi experience! - Beautiful views with great amenities! Authentic tipi experience. Host was super friendly! Bedding was provided, including mats for extra cushioning.
- Megan (2/5): Don't. Just, don't. - NO BEDS! Just a dirt floor. This is a campground, not a hotel. Not at all as I expected or as described on the site. Manager was downright rude when I complained about the misleading listing. I used the provided firewood to at least heat the place up but it got so smokey in the tipi I ended up sleeping in my car. Total waste of money. I could have slept in my car on the side of the road for free.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall it's like a campground with provided tent (tipi), sleeping bag and mattress. The shower room is basic but clean, and the community room
- karen c (8/5): Unique experience on blackfeet reservation - We enjoyed our stay in the tipi. However, when we booked it I thought we were sleeping on beds in the tipi. When we arrived FOUND out it was a sleeping bag pad and bag. So it was a little hard doing that for 3 days. Also the info on the facality said there were horses available to ride on the premises. Not true. The showers were fine water hot. However, no one came in to replzce toliet paper duri g our stay and luckily it ran out when we were leaving. Inside bldg was nice, and offered tea coffee and cold or hot water and use of plates, utensils and grill. It was a unique experience. The fire in tipi being the best
- Keith (8/5): - My family and I arrived late at night, after the host reception had already closed. However, the folks at Lodgepole were great, they left clear instructions printed and posted on the door to the community room, and it was not difficult to find our Tipi and settle in for the night with a nice campfire inside... thoughtfully provided by the host. The bedding was surprisingly comfortable, and with the campfire, quite cozy inside! A great experience... and one I would do again. BTW: step outside after midnight, and see the most astonishing view of the Milky Way (especially fabulous with a new moon)!
- Verified traveler (6/5): A neat experience - This is flat out a neat place to stay and one of not very many close to Two Medicine area of Glacier National Park. I thought I was reserving a tipi but ended up with a cabin. It was still a neat experience. We were very tired but could still kick ourselves for not going outside after the sunset and just looking at the vast sky!!!
- Kyle (10/5): - Wonderful place and wonderful people! Another Native American style living experience
- Art (10/5): - Property has 2 cabins for inside rental and about 10 tipis for semi-outside rental. We rented a cabin and it was very comfortable with a queen bed, futon bed, electricity and heater. Hosts were very helpful and knowledgeable. Common space included bathrooms with showers, and a large shared room for food and eating, including microwave, smallish fridge, cups, glasses, coffee maker, tables and chairs.Tipis looked intriguing and beautiful. We had just come from camping and needed an inside space. Each tipi was for its rented group, and not shared with strangers. Host gracefully shared Native American knowledge and some drumming, stories and singing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): One of a kind experience!! - Absolutely heavenly and also affordable. Wish we could have stayed more than one night. The staff was super-friendly, and the experience of sleeping in a tipi next to a fire was one I'll always remember.
- Cathy (8/5): - A unique experience for my grandson and me. The owner(s) were friendly and so were the other guests we met in the common areas. The only negative aspect of our stay was the town of Browning was a bit of a let down.
- Jeremy (8/5): Get clear instructions on venting campfire smoke - Fun experience camping in a tipi with a campfire - just wish we would have had a better explanation from the owners regarding how to properly vent the smoke. It was raining and they had it prepped to keep out rain, but the only instruction we received was to keep a small fire blazing. Actually needed to keep the fire very small and not smoldering at all in order to avoid having the whole tipi fill up with smoke. Or learn how to vent the smoke by opening the top of the tipi wider than it was. Thinking they had it already in the optimum arrangement, we had a LOT of smoke difficulty. Other than that, a wonderful and ultimately very memorable time!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is the best thing I have done with my family for a long time. Story telling around a fire in our tepee with no electronics. It was beautiful!
- MaryAnn (8/5): - We loved the experience of sleeping in the Tipi. It was fun to have a fire in the middle of the teepee during the night and for it being 45 degrees it was amazing warm in there. The downside was that the women's bathroom was a work in progress. The could have provided a mirror on the wall, hand soap and to have the counters and floors clean when they knew guests were coming. We definitely would do it again!
- Elisha (8/5): Great, Fun experience to camp for the night! - Great, Fun experience to camp for the night! We built a little fire inside out tipi that helped keep us warm. Nice little room up the hill to hangout in, use the wifi and charge stuff. Beds were not included but we had our own camping gear so it wasn't really an issue.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An awesome adventure. Staying in a tipi was really neat. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. They had everything available to you, including showers, towels, etc....Will definitely be staying there again :)
- hannah (10/5): Storm - It's definitely a unique experience. That being said, a storm raged all night long. The door flap banged until I wrapped it up, but then the tipi was just open to the elements. It became cold in the middle of the night and the fire created a lot of smoke when it was going. The tipis were a pleasing sight inside and outside although the bedding needed to be shaken out before using. The showers were warm and comfortable/ spacious. Staff was helpful and very pleasant. Enjoyed the breakfast. They set it out the night before so we were able to get up early, eat, and leave. Our favorite thing was the fry bread. There is also a communal fire pit you can use for roasting marshmallows or hanging out. I was tired from our day at Glacier
- Ben (8/5): A beautiful unique experience - Teepees are beautiful and area picturesque. It does get cold at night! They have a nice community a lounge and good bathrooms with towels and coffee provided! A very unique experience!
- Ray (8/5): Tipi accomodation - An interesting experience-I was surprised that Orbitz claimed there were 4 single beds, but instead there was bare grass, with space for 4 sleeping bags, available at extra cost. The proprietors pointed out that Orbitz continues to mislead people in this regard. Orbitz NEEDS TO FIX THEIR DESCRIPTION.
- Michael (10/5): Authentic, Clean, and Amazing! - Our experience was AMAZING! Our only regret is not giving ourselves time to visit the art gallery or to hang out at the site longer. Tipi Village is perfectly located near Glacier National Park. The hosts were excellent and a great source of knowledge about Blackfoot culture and history. I had expected the washroom facilities to be unpleasant like most campground facilities, but they were in perfect condition. We stayed here with kids ages 1-11, and the loved it (although I will say we were lucky they weren't disruptive to other guests. In the morning, we found there were other young kids who also somehow went unheard at night. I highly recommend this to anyone with any spirit of adventure and hope to stay there again and build in more time to take it all in.
- William (10/5): - Awesome experience, the kids loved it. Got there late at nigjt, everything was already in our tipi. The fire in the tipi, kept us plenty warm and the temp was 43 degrees. Check temps before you go and bring a sleeping bag. Would stay there again in a minute.
- Traveller (8/5): Something different - This is a camping experience without having to set up a tent yourself, in a teepee where you can enjoy fire and sleep basically outdoors. Mattress costs extra, as would have cost comforter / sleeping bag etc had I not had one myself. Shared bathrooms could provide some more privacy, but were clean and the place as a whole is well maintained and pleasant.
