- lamontravel (10/5): Amazing Hotel in Hakone! - We chose this hotel after finding out our initial hotel had a shared bathroom and shower facilities (after we had already paid for it). We ended up booking twi premier twin rooms and were placed in rooms 473 and 475. They were amazing rooms with incredible space and beautiful views! The beds were comfortable, all of the amenities for the shower/bath area were great, and there was even a coffee and tea station with hot pot. The staff were very polite and helpful. The onsen was well maintained, and clean. We were able to get the hotel shuttle back to Odowara station, which saved us over 10,000 yen ($70 - U.S.). We didn’t eat at the property, but our kids ate breakfast and said it was delicious with lots of good items from which to choose. We absolutely would stay here again, and highly recommend this hotel!

- PATRICK (10/5): - Amazingly serene and peaceful location. Beautiful mountains around the ancient caldera adds to the uniqueness of the Hotel. Golf driving range as well as a full course is attached to the property.

- jillsD9785XU (6/5): A peaceful place with a breathtaking view - The place is too far from the station but they have their shuttle bus that’ll take you to the hotel, and back to the station. Much better if you have your own car. The hotel is old so don’t expect too much about the interior, as well as their facility. They have good breakfast with a breathtaking view.

I was disappointed to realise it is completely remote from all activities and services. No shuttle or reasonable access to get anywhere other than a corner store and couple of small restaurants on foot.

- atontao (6/5): Hotel that needs renewal - Common areas were OK, but the rooms, are tired and a carpet was bit dirty. Lightning unsufficient. Furniture old. Bed was OK. Bathroom was old fashioned. Safety box and coffee maker, OK. TV was not smart. Dinner at the buffet restaurant was OK. Breakfast was acceptable but eggs cooking station was too slow. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere (except a golf course) , views are nothing special. Not the best choice in Hakone.

- Tracy (8/5): Peaceful respite - It was quiet and the staff was wonderful. The food in-house was very expensive but not worth the price. The views are stunning and the property is pretty if a little dated.
- S1275FAallank (2/5): Bad experience with the front desk and the manager won't care to meet us. - The hotel facility is good. Clean and well maintained. Staff are not well trained in English. When we got there, we found out that the rooms have several steps to go down into. It was difficult for 70 years old man to carry all his luggages down to the bedroom. We requested a room with flat floor so we don't have to carry our luggages down. We waited for the manager but he refused to come out to speak with us. The staff finally took us around to find several rooms but then find out either they were booked (which they could have known) without taking us for one hour. Finally we have to settle for a different room also with steps. This time, the staff took my luggages down the steps. My complaint was that the manager should be courteous enough to come greet us and explain to us. It was a bad experience. Allan

You can walk to the Grasslands area, the Botanical Wetlands, and Sengokuhara easily from here, and there are several dining options nearby on the village too. An elderly person could easily fall down. Lovely view from the bedroom window. Breakfast and dinner were good but there was a minor problem in the evening which annoyed me.

The Japanese bath is exceptionally beautiful, has an outdoor tub from which the sunrise over the mountains can be seen. We enjoyed the extensive breakfasts- don't pass them up. We don't golf or play tennis, but used this resort setting as a base for sightseeing and hiking the region's mountain trails.
- susan siu kuen (6/5): Ok but dissatisfied - The hotel itself was very isolated so unless you have a car, it’s not convenient for you to venture out to anywhere. It’s a 40-50min drive to downtown hakone where all the shops & restaurants are so you’ll have to rely on public transportation and call the hotel to pick you up at bus stop when you get to near hotel. They only have one option for dinner which is approximately 6500yen per person with only 4 entree options and if you want beef, it’s additional. It includes buffet (not really big, 3 sushi options, small salad bar, small desserts & bread bar & coffee & tea. The food was ok & not worth the price. If food was better, you can justify this. We decided second night that we would pick up something at Lawson (bus stop drop off) to pick up some dinner to heat up at hotel & we brought it to them to ask where we could heat up the food & they said that it was not possible which sort of puts a bitter taste in your mouth as the cost of the hotel was quite expensive and you would think that customers would have access to using a microwave. They had coffee in the room so second morning, I asked for coffee refill and they directed me to vending machine which again put a bitter taste to our stay. Breakfast buffet was good, not great but we opted for breakfast included room rate. The views were great from the dining room & our room faced the golf course which was nice. We would surely come back to stay in hakone but would chose a different hotel.

Onsen is decent, tennis courts/golf facilities are good too. Although overall staff behavior was kind and polite but front desk’s plain refusal when asked for a water bottle at the time of checkout definitely didn’t leave a good mark.

We probably booked the cheapest of the rooms, which was still very expensive for what it was: a bit stuffy, old 2 twin beds room, no television, tiny old bathroom. I guess the high price was because of the holiday weekend. The view was very nice though (on the golf practice and mountains), and the Onsen was very pleasant. The staff was friendly and helpful, but communication was complicated as no one really spoke English.

Our room faced out to the golf course, simply beautiful scene right in front of our room. The hotel is classy and filled with country vibe. It is very close to the Segokuhara pampas grass field, a good hiking place. Overall, highly recommended.

- travbud1 (6/5): Average resort - This is a relatively average resort hotel. It is set in the beautiful Hakone region, but has limited vantage points to see the views. The rooms are quite average with odd steps down to the room and bathroom. Also the food at the hotel is not particularly good, we had breakfast and a dinner, which I would not recommend. The service was helpful, but I would not specifically recommend this hotel.
- Jacob (10/5): - This is a great hotel to visit for Hakone and it's onsens/ hot springs. I highly recommend staying with this hotel. Staff is beyond kind and accommodating. There is a French restaurant with a once in a lifetime view and food courses that I would recommend splurging on. Great stay.

- 536JeffB (8/5): Spoilt by the impending Typhoon! - It was raining heavily when we arrived and did not stop - which was a pity because this looked like a lovely spot. The room was fine and it was a real bonus to have the opportunity to have a hot spring experience. We ate in the hotel - dinner was a buffet. The food was good but it was a little expensive. Would love to stay here in more clement weather.
- yshargal (10/5): Wonderful place - The hotel is very clean and provides good service, like all hotels in Japan. The staff barely speaks English still they were very helpful with all transportation arrangements. The room was really big and nice. The only inconvenience was the lack of bus transportation. The bus to this area runs only between 9:00 and 17:00.
- StuartRon (4/5): Overall a poor hotel. - This hotel is situated in a remote area in Hakone. The view is to die for with panoramic views over the adjacent golf course and hillside. There are no facilities outside the hotel within walking distance, so the only restaurant facilities are within the hotel. Hakone is a remote area, so all hotels are much the same on location. This why the hotel needs a resturant guests feel able to use without feeling they are being robbed. Dinner here is massively overpriced. The tour group of 30 we were travelling with all decided to take a packed meal from the railway station. The hotel needs to review it prices. If they lowered the price of dinner all of us would have used the restaurant. An example of the price is a steak cost ¥7800 that is £62. The rooms are an unusual design with steps down into the room and a step into the bedroom and the sink is not in the bathroom, but in the room and was broken. The breakfast was a poor affair with limited choice hardly any cereal, no orange juice, the hot selection was poor. So, coffee and toast had to do.

- Misow13 (6/5): Cracked hand basin unsightly. - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly. I was disappointed with the hand basin in our room as it was cracked and looked unsightly. We mentioned this to the hotel front desk and hope they fix this as this should not be the case given the price of the room. It was also disappointing that the hotel didn’t have a cafe for a light breakfast or meal or a bar where guests could relax before dinner.

There might have been some practice golf at a driving range but no golfing. The hot springs were down due to the typhoon. Basically there was nothing to do and we were stuck...Staff spoke LIMITED English and there was one dining room for bus crowds and a few Japanese groups. The view of the mountains was fantastic...
- Omer (6/5): - The hotel is located 800 meter from nearest bus station, not a big deal but if you have to push 3 trollies up hill it doesn't make a great holiday start. The buffet is very expensive so make sure it is included in reservation because there is not much around apart from a 7 eleven so you end up paying 70USD per person for a standard dinner buffet.

The spread at breakfast was fairly good and there was a decent choice at the buffet dinner. However, we found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful - would not stay here again.☹️
- KaraokeSue7 (10/5): Would have loved to stay longer here - We stayed at this golf club resort hotel as part of our Essence of Japan Tour with Titan and I thought it was absolutely lovely and would have devinitely loved to stay another night. The hotel is in an isolated position and it wasn't until the next morning that we realised that it is actually located within a volcanic caldera ie a crater formed by a major eruption leading to the collapse of the mouth of the volcano. We stayed in room 276 which is accessible by lift or stairs. Our balcony overlooked the golf course and also had a beautiful view of the mountains beyond. The room itself had a very different layout to any others that we had stayed in as there were approx. 3 steps down to the beds, table and chairs. On the upper level are wardrobes and a washing area separate from the WC. I would therefore recommend that guests might like to leave a light on at night in case they need to use the loo. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. Food: Prior to arrival we were informed that there was only a buffet dinner available at the hotel and that it was best to pre book a table. My husband is not fond of buffets or smash and grabs as he calls them and we had previously checked and discovered that there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Therefore we took our own food and had a bedroom picnic. Most of the people on tour seemed to do this but the few that paid for a buffet seemed to have enjoyed it-sorry but don't know what they had. Breakfast is provided in an exceptionally spacious room and the buffet was laid out over a wide area so avoiding any crush. There was a good choice but like most of the hotels that we stayed in the fried egg and bacon were almost cold. There is a shop within the hotel selling a good quality range of products including some very nice ladies clothing. And now more about the feature of the hotel that I loved best! Because of the volcanic nature of the area, one of the assets of the hotel is the hot spring Onsen, and I really would recommend travellers to set aside their instinctive modesty and to experience the absolute pleasure of naked bathing in either the inside or outside immaculately clean pools. There are separate pools for male and female, and having done it three times now, my experience is that no-one goes in the pool to stare at anyone else. You don't swim in an Onsen and you don't wash yourself in one. Having already removed clothes and cleansed your body and hair, you simply relax in the wonderfully clean and warm water. The facilities were absolutely marvellous-exceptionally clean, lovely towels provided, lockers for clothes, security lockers for valuables, shampoo, body wash, hairdryers, hairbrushes. Basically you can just walk in and all will be provided for you. Like me, a few of the tour group rushed through breakfast so that they could make use of the Onsen before we left. So please don't be shy-this really is a wonderful experience not to be missed, and I thought this particular Onsen was absolutely lovely. If you have your own transport and are looking for something to do, you might wish to take a 10 minute drive to Togendai port, Lake Ashinoko, where you can take a harbour cruise on a "Pirate ship". We found this to be a very pleasurable experience. You could also ride on the cable car and if you are fortunate there are wonderful views of Mount Fuji, or you could take a Duck tour-I would have loved to travel on one of these if we had been travelling independently. So all in all, the Prince Hotel was lovely and the area was fantastic and beautiful and I'd definitely return given the opportunity.
