Guest Reviews
- James (9/5): Home away from home. Fantastic location with great amenities. Would stay here again. - Property was in a fantastic location. Clean and comfortable. Felt like a home away from home. Nothing I strongly disliked. Living room furniture felt a little dated, the stairs up to the second bedroom are incredibly steep, manageable for us but can see this being an issue for some guests.

- Theadora (10/5): A stylish haven in the centre of Bruges - This is such a beautiful house, it is just like the pictures. So thoughtfully and stylishly designed throughout. It is a haven in the centre of Bruges. Amazing location too! Wish we could have stayed longer. A perfect size for 4 people, and so nice to have a toilet on each floor. As mentioned in other reviews, the stairs are very steep. This didn’t bother us but we did have to take care and watch our step.
- Antje (8/5): Very good - It was very charming and in an excellent location The stairs were difficult to navigate
- Nancy (9/5): Superb -
- Phyllis (7/5): Good -
- Greg (6/5): Nice place & location but the smell of the sewer gas from the down stairs bathroom was unbearable - The smell of sewer gasses from the down stairs bathroom was overwhelming. We had to leave the back door, front door
window and all the windows open to vent the smell. And it was very cold out. The unit has a major plumbing/sewer gas problem which needs to be fixed. The place isn't rentable until the sewer gas problem is fixed.
When we entered unit for the first time, the sewer gases where un-bearable. Surprised no-one vomited.
We spent 3 hours the first night looking for another place to stay but couldn't find a replacement place due to heavy holiday traffic.
We were actually contemplating leaving Bruges and going to Ghent the second day because we found a place to stay in Ghent. But instead we just slept with back door and front window in front door and all windows open. IN THE WINTER!
WE SHOULD GET A PARTIAL REFUND!!!!!!
- Marianna (8/5): Loved it - Location was fantastic.
Clean and neat. Needed a washing machine.
- Mehtap (5/5): Disappointment - First of all, the house is exactly the same as in the photo. The location is nice. The house we bought to sit in front of the fireplace because we couldn't go out after the child was asleep was a complete disappointment! Because the use of fireplaces is prohibited. Not working!
! Check-in time to the house was 3pm. We checked in only 40 minutes early and the house was freezing cold. When we explained that the house was cold, the owner stated that we did not provide early entry information. Pardon? So much discourse for just 40 minutes? Were the cleaning staff who didn't arrive until 2:20 come and heat the house in the last 40 minutes? He also said, "We saw from the system that you set the house to 24 degrees."
We immediately set the house to 24 degrees. The house got warm. However, when we returned home in the evening, the owner intervened in the remote heating and reduced it to 20 degrees. I wrote to him. He said he didn't intervene, but he definitely did. It's really strange that they charge so much money and only think about the cost of heating!
- Szabó (9/5): Superb - Location, rooms, staff. stairs, dangerous for toddlers and older people (like my child 2.5 years old, my mother, 67 years old)
- Irene (10/5): Beautiful cosy home in great location. - Cosy house, warm luxurious bath, great location, all amenities needed, super price! Stairs steep and small but manageable for the agile. Not suitable for people who struggle with stairs.
- Sophia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teodora (9/5): Lovely house in superb location - The house has a perfect location. Just 8 min walk from historical center and all the monuments, museums and sites. House is really warm , great wifi connection, spacious rooms, super comfy beds. Was a bit expensive but we still loved it
- Bradinhk (8/5): Charming and quaint apartment in Bruges with a few things to keep in mind - Overall, our experience was good. This is a charming apartment that is beautifully decorated, comfortable and located in a nice, quiet street that is still fairly close to major sightseeing in the Historic Centre of Bruges. Check-in is pretty late at 5pm and check-out is earlier than we would have liked at 10am. No front desk to store your luggage which can effect your travel plans to and out of Bruges because of luggage.
Kitchen was stocked well with cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates and cutlery allowing us to cook a few meals during our stay. We have an very good butcher shop (Hof Maertens) and bakery (Patisserie Schaeverbeke) just down the street near Church of St Magdalene worth recommending for anyone playing to stay at this property for a longer stay.
Bedrooms were nice, included sufficient space, lighting and comfortable beds. 1/F bathroom was spacious, G/F and 2/F bathroom units fit for purpose and sufficient for space needed. The stairs within the property are rather steep and have small steps, making them a bit of a challenge for those with larger feet. I found that walking backwards down the stairs made them more manageable and more comfortable. Taking large luggage up the stairs is slightly challenging, particularly to the top floor room. In fact, the top floor stairs are incredibly steep with itsy, bitsy steps. Fun to see and try, a bit sketchy at night, not something recommended for those with walking or mobility issues. Safe? You have decide on this one. I thought it was fine for myself but would understand if others didn't view it to be.
There is no laundry machine at this apartment. This was a problem for us as the laundry mat recommended by Huswell was nearly 15 minute walk from the property. Do your research to find a nearer option if you are concerned about having your clothing cleaned during your stay.
Note: Huswell ask for a large Security Deposit for this property. This was mentioned on Booking.com T&C at the time of booking. However, what they didn't mention until after we had made reservation is that they would charge €25 to refund your security deposit. Yikes! Would be best if they would inform interested guests of this charge within the T&C beforehand.
Even worse was the refund time, which was supposed to be 10-15 working days after our stay. I had to email and ask 4 weeks afterwards and we didn't receive our security deposit, minus €25 charge for nearly 6 weeks. That really shouldn't happen and is something Huswell needs to do ensure they handle in a more timely manner for future guests of this apartment.
- Suzy (8/5): we had a lovely family trip, the house was clean and comfortable and right in the centre of everything - we loved the traditional character of the house amd the excellent location
- Alexandra (5/5): Warm.house, great location but bathroom facilities were poor and smelt of drains - Location of property was very good The property smelt of drains, the shower head was full of Limescale so the water did not flow out correctly. Beds may need checking for bed bugs as my husband was bitten all over
- Carrissa (10/5): Wonderful and would stay again - Quiet area, great location. Less than a mile walk in Amy direction to all of Amsterdam activities.
Great restaurant and social areas. If you have mobility issues, the lift is extremely slow and small.
- Richard (10/5): faboulous we loved this property - great decor, well put together - stunning steep staircase
- Linda (4/5): Disappointing -
- Yves-pierre (4/5): Disappointing - good location did not feel the property was well taken care of. upholstery was stained, kitchen less than clean. site does not advise you are required to pay for linens and did not advise one bedroom was on 3rd floor with VERY steep stairs. Not a place for older adults
- Sod77 (8/5): Very good - This is the most charming house! The hosts offer useful advise. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, great WiFi and great water pressure. I would definitely recommend it for small families or 2 couples. The only thing we didn't like were the tiny stairs, very narrow and could be dangerous for some people, although they do add to the charm of the house!
