Sleep quality was also good, pillows were very good. Air conditioner also in good working order. TV set's speakers totally out of service, all I could hear was screeching sounds. Bathroom shower head needs cleaning. Drapes a little stained. Some paint has chipped away from the wall where the desk is. I guess the room needs some maintenance. Also, on the day of leaving, a very bad foul smell could be perceived in my floor (2nd).

Television was strange, and the GM had to come up and assist to get it working as soon as we checked in.It worked off and on with many Netflix programs not showing, but an error code instead.No washcloths in room, and when I went down to ask for some, I had to wait until the next morning to receive.The staff works very hard, and there is only one housekeeper at a time. The shower floor was very slippery when wet.There was also open snacks left in the cabinets.I gave to housekeeper the next morning. Should be a mat or anti slip measures in both tub and shower surfaces for safety.

- Kyle (10/5): Fantastic Manta Port views with an epic bathtub. - The King Suite had a bathtub in the room! Very nice room layout with great views of the Manta Port. Comfortable bed and very hot water in a very nice shower. The restaurant exceeded expectations with great food and unique cocktails... worth going to dinner there even if you don't stay. The balcony wasn't as private as some options in Manta, but I think this is only true on the top floor of rooms. Sight distance to a neighboring room, and connected to a room behind (but blocked by a plant). Location is also fairly urban... expect normal traffic noise as opposed to the sound of the ocean.

- louaineb (10/5): Our home away from home - We can't say enough about the hotel, the service or the wonderful people there! My last stay was over 2 weeks as my husband was in ICU in a Manta hospital. It was a very stressful time but the staff did everything possible to help me through this trying time. The room was newly and very tastefully decorated and had a huge balcony with great view. The hotel is always exceptionally clean and quiet and the amenities are lovely. Martha's Casual Cooking was exceptional....the food and the service. The menu is varied and has some of my now favorite dishes. Breakfast which is included with the room rate was nothing like the usual hotel breakfast fare and was outstanding. I recommend a quiet sit by the pool in the evenings. Perla Spondylus will always be our home in Manta. We thank you for everything! LB and John
- Aaron (10/5): I would definitely stay here again! - Very nice and clean hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, and had everything you would expect from any other hotel. My only gripe, and it is a very minor gripe, is that the restaurant only serves food during certain meal times. But they are close enough to many other good places to eat, so it really wanst a big deal. I was still able to get a delicious Mojito with fresh mint from the garden. And when I was able to eat at the restaurant for Bfast, and 1 dinner the food was excellent. Also, some of the better shopping for local handmade goods is less than a block away right out the front door and down the hill a little. Overall I enjoyed my stay, and I plan to stay at Perla Spondylus again the next time I visit Manta.

- carlosw902 (10/5): Perfect for couple or business travellers! - The Hotel is very well located, near the harbour, good restaurants around, near a large shopping center and with easy access to the bus station (15minutes drive). The room is clean and very confortable, with a large bed, good hot shower and view to the ocean. At the hotel's restaurant you can choose a large variety of breakfast, from the traditional local 'triguillo' to more standard western food and healthy (natural) options. Oh, from the restaurant we could watching the harbour and pacific ocean! The staff is super helpful, they speak good English and helped me to solve some personal issues. I could park my car in a safe closed parking lot, at the hotel. If you are planning to visit Manta for a beach trip or for a business metting, i strongly recommend Perla Spondylus!
- 935pamelav (10/5): Great value for Manta - We only stayed one night. Room was very clean, beds comfortable and complimentary breakfast the next day was very good. It is very modern but very cozy as well. They scheduled my transfer from airport and the staff was very efficient. Would definitely recommend it for a short stay. Not sure about a long stay as we didn’t use any of the facilities.
- kira13 (6/5): Questionable: Real mixed feelings on this one - Questionable. I have mixed emotions. While the hotel appears very modern (especially for Manta), the staff is so uniformly not trained from one to the other that it is a hit or miss on whether you are getting good service or bad. While modern, not enough outlets, lighting in the bathroom, etc., make this a real case of "judge the book by its cover". It is close to the port, easily accessible, etc. Yet, I can't get over the "telling you one thing, but it never happens" or "being told different stories by different staff members". Certainly not worth the price paid. So, I guess it is sort of like driving a car that looks like a "luxury" vehicle, but in reality a 4 cyl engine with a nice paint job. As for specifics, well here goes. The breakfast is great. Good dining room. Room is zero on outlets, no lighting above the bathroom sink, no place to put anything in the bathroom. Don't know about room cleaning: they never showed up, although I did find remnants of the last guest in the bathroom when I checked in. Forget laundry service - - i was told multiple different stories by multiple employees - - none of which worked out. Restaurant food is good, but expensive. Restaurant staff very friendly, well trained and helpful. Price is too high for the quality of the stay. Price is fair for the quality of the facility. Wifi is good. TV went out on second day.
- Rob (10/5): - Hotel is a $5 taxi ride from airport which takes about 20 minutes. Hotel is on a quite street walking distance to beach and tourist areas bars and restaurants. Area seemed very safe at night, we had no issues or at anytime felt unsafe walking day or night. On arrival to our Hotel we was greeted by English speaking staff and given a free upgrade. When it comes to customer service I can’t remember staying anywhere better, staff are very attentive and genuinely concerned our stay in their hotel was what we expected. If Spanish speaking staff did not understand what we wanted either at front desk or in the restaurant they would go and get someone that spoke English to translate. Breakfast in hotel restaurant was very good, with a choice of about 6-7 different country style of breakfast. We had fruit, eggs and pancakes which was awesome and set you up for a good start to the day. Dinner menu also had a good choice and was very good quality food. Overall the hotel was very good in a great loacation and amazing staff who wanted us to have the best stay in their hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel or to stay here again should I return to Manta, Ecuador.

- rmmECxtz (10/5): Best Hospitality Ever!! - OK, I was recuperating from a nasty case of the flu, feeling very weak and checked in very late by the security guard. Got a welcome call in the morning in Spanish whereupon she transferred me to the English speaking Hospitality Manager, Maria. After speaking to her over the phone, she personally came up to my room and gave me a welcome letter describing amenities available, map of the area with locations marked for me that I had inquired about and also sites of interest, the restaurant menu plus a menu from an American style restaurant that delivers lunch. Since it was too late for breakfast, she ordered complimentary coffee and toast to tide me over. She also arranged a taxi trip down the coast at a reasonable price to my home in Ayangue. She also ordered breakfast in room for the next 2 mornings. The free breakfasts are full, hearty breakfasts. The restaurant serves excellent dinners. I recommend their filet mignon which i found to be excellent in taste and presentation. The hotel itself is very attractive and my room nicely decorated and furnished with free wifi in room with a nice chair and desk complete with an led lamp. All of the staff was polite and helpful, esp. the waiter who was quite friendly. All in all, you would be hard pressed to find an equal hotel for the money spent.

- Melany (6/5): - The food in the restaurant was good. Our room was on the busy street side so it was noisy late into the noght and early in the morning. The shower had cool to lukewarm water. My husband's ankle became swollen and he needed ice for it. Staff was very accommodating.
- slow_motion_traveler (8/5): Beautiful harbor view - This hotel is very convenience located on the edge of the city and one block away from the harbor also walking distance to super market. Many restaurants along the street next to the harbor. I ate a dinner in the hotel restaurant, the dishes have a look of French cuisine and pricey but kind of salty. I guess people lives in place within hot and humid climate need to consume more salty for their body. This hotel is small in size, room is also small with a comfortable queen bed but then not much space left in the room. The hotel looks like very new have good view of the harbor. In the morning watching the fishing boats come and go is very much fun. Step out from the room to balcany and you can see lots of activities of the locals going on with their daily lifes, wifi have good signal, services from front desk was excellent. Over all, I had a very comfortable stay except the price was kind of expensive comparing with other hotels.
- gwgxopp (10/5): Friendly and Spotless - Stayed at the Hotel Perla Spondylus January 15th to January 18th, 2016. The Hotel although 3 years old looked like it was brand new. The reception staff was extremely friendly and made the check in process very enjoyable. The Hotel is situated aprox. 2 blocks from the main fishing port on higher ground giving a good view of the harbour. The Hotel is extremely clean and offered an included breakfast in a nicely appointed dining room overlooking the harbour. It was about a 10 minute walk to the beach where there was plenty of activity all the time. There were also numerous restaurants in the beach area as well as the walk to get there.

- Easylivingtravel (10/5): VERY COMFORTABLE - I arrived in Manta via bus arriving at the terminal in the afternoon. I took a taxi ($1.50)to the hotel which only is only 5 minutes by car from the terminal. I was very impressed with the service level and comfort of this hotel starting with them offering complementary coffee in their ground floor lobby. I received everything as listed in my booking reservation(including my discount). The shower had great water pressure and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was served every morning with fresh breads, juices and fruits. This hotel is located steps from the Manta Malecon (waterfront), where the marina and "MANTA" sign are located and the main street where the Naval Base and Main Port are located. You can easily catch a taxi ($1.50) or bus($.50) to the city beach El Murcielago or you could walk 15 minutes. There are a few dining options nearby ( my favorite is El Navegante). However, the hotel also has a restaurant that serves pretty good food with excellent service. I loved my sea-view of the marina and would get up in the morning to watch the fisherman activity. I would definitely recommend this as a business hotel also because it has a great internet signal. I hope you have a positive experience also. Happy Travels!!!
- Tourist655 (2/5): Hotel does not respect reservations - This was a really bad experience. Last week we had a confirmed reservation with the hotel. When we arrived we checked in normally. After half an hour they informed us that we had to leave because there are other guests with a reservation. As they insisted we left. Whe had to seek another place to stay in the middle of the night.
- Revyguy (8/5): Great hotel in Manta - Nice new hotel. Very clean and really good staff. Brian at the front desk was extremely helpful and speaks excellent English. The breakfast served was good with fruit cheese,cold meat and eggs if you ask for them. I stayed at another highly rated Hostal in Manta prior to this that was $10 cheaper but it was definitely worth paying the extra money to stay at this hotel. - LenkaP464 (4/5): Overpriced - The hotel is quite new, but really overpriced. We found hairs in the bathroom, the shower was warm, not hot, and with no water pressure at all. Pipes stink, at least in our room. We had to close the bathroom door to avoid the smell. The only plug in the room was the bathroom's one. We were asked to pay when checking-in, which is quite unusual (they said it is their policy). I wouldn't complain too much if I had paid less, but when you pay 85$ for a double room, taxes and breakfast included, you don´t expect anything of the above issues. In the positive, staff is professional and ready to attend any request. It also seems they really want to improve their service. They asked us about our stay and acknowledged our critics, so maybe things will be better in the future.
