Guest Reviews
- Marie (10/5): - Hotel Ilissos was one of the most welcoming places in downtown Athens!!!
They cared for me like family.
The breakfast buffet was beautiful with many options, fresh international cuisine, clean facilities and rooms with incredible views of the acropolis!
They helped me find my way with walking, directions the bus and Subway and how to live like a local, even though I was a tourist.
I’ll definitely be back!
- Jessica (10/5): - We really liked this hotel. The bar area upstairs had an amazing view and great bartenders. The hotel was comfortable and convenient.
- Sherry Layeux (10/5): - We absolutely love the staff. We love the convenience of being close by to everything..
- John (10/5): - Was up all night traveling, while waiting for check in they took compassion and let me check in early. Super
- Taylor (6/5): - The room is basic. The staff was friendly. Ok area and you don’t need a car. 20 minute walk to everything you need. There are several restaurants close by. I would not stay for an extended trip. One or 2 nights maximum
- Sherry (10/5): - We've had an amazing time. From front staff, breakfast and dining to the views and location it was amazing. The 7th floor bar and the team members that served us and provided recommendations are second to. Nicholas, Theodore and Mike are like family to us. We had a wonderful experience and hope to return soon. Thank you Greece!!!!
- Mary (4/5): I do not recommend this hotel in the summer, maint - AC didn’t work first night in middle of July in Athens that was disappointing for a 4 star hotel, they moved us to another room next door that initially seemed ok, but gradually got warmer in the morning. We left very early for our sightseeing and came back very late. AC not working in tho the room. We were too tired to change again room and we had very early flight. I mentioned at the checkout about the enconvenient so they could fix for next guest and also to give us a discount. The person at the reception said that these things just happen. I asked him to report my complain to the hotel manager. Never heard back. Sent email as reminder, never responded. Unacceptable!
- Nikos (6/5): - Bar was there but no bar tender. Did not try room service. Bed comfort was average at best (small pillows, a bit musty too).
- Noel (8/5): - Neighborhood isn’t the best
- Hussein (8/5): - Good
- Arline (6/5): - It was a nice place to stay stuff was nice.
- Zia (10/5): - it is better if they put a larger table in bathroom so the man can put his things like toothbrush and make up on table
- MARIA (6/5): - the weather was good
- Yuanjin (10/5): - Front Desk Services is good, a lady helped us to book online tickets and when I left the hotel at 4:am ,they ordered a taxi for me and gave me a box breakfast . It’s so warm! Thanks!
- Anton (10/5): - Quiet neighborhood with restaurants and close to major attractions. Lovely hotel with helpful staff and AMAZING views of the Acropolis. Small room, but was clean and comfortable.
- Telma (10/5): - Wonderful view from the terrace snack bar to the Acropolis.
The reception and service staff are most friendly and helpful.
The rooms are clean and ample and breakfast is plentiful and delicious.
Highly recommended.
- Effie (10/5): - Check in was easy even though it was 10pm
The hotel is walking distance from many restaurants, cafes and bars in some of the top neighborhoods of Athens. The staff arranged a taxi to the airport at a flat rate of 48 euros.
- Angelica (6/5): - For the price is ok, good breakfast very nice rooftop.
Rooms very old and smells humidity
- Angelica (6/5): - Good hotel for one night breakfast simple, rooms with humidity smell (I’m allergic)
- sasha (10/5): Thank you! - Great service - thank you!
- Peter (10/5): - The staff was very courteous
- Kevin (8/5): - The property had great views.
- Masoud (10/5): - Nice small hotel
- Kathleen (8/5): - Hotel is as advertised, somewhat close to the major attractions. The amenities are nice as well as the staff. However, not in the nicest area of the city.
- Janelle (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - It was clean and comfortable. The front desk was welcoming and helpful. If there is more than one of you in the room, be sure to ask for two keys because one has to be used to keep the lights on for those left in the room while others go out.
- Miguel angel (8/5): - Nice stay
- Miguel angel (10/5): Absolutely great - Alway Amazing pleasure to stay at illisoss hotel Athens
- Florin (10/5): - Hotel is a great deal for the money. Its about a 30 minute walk to the heart of Athens. The roof top bar has a great view with good drinks and food. We ended every day there. Staff where very nice and helpful.
- JAMIE (8/5): - The location was perfect for us. No car needed with easy bus transportation. Great views from the small balcony. Host was very helpful.
My only complaint is the doors to the apartment are very loud.
- Brian (10/5): - Great price, location and comfort
- Catherine (10/5): Comfortable 5-star Accomodations - The accommodations were great! Clean room, beds were comfortable, the whole room was very comfortable, and it is in a great location - close to the metro and walking to many parts of Athens. The concierge, Natasha, was one of our favorite people that we met. She was extremely helpful and friendly - really appreciated her help and guidance!
- Fernando (10/5): - Good location, close enough to walk to the tourist areas but far enough to not have to deal with the noise. Very helpful staff, good AC, good wifi.
- Gregory (6/5): - Ok
- Evie (8/5): - We had an excellent time while we were in Athens
- Panagiota (8/5): - Liked location and accessibility to stores, restaurants. Staff were great. Cleanliness of the room can be better.
- Sarine (10/5): - Amazing
- Damian (4/5): Comfort cero - the comfort of the rooms is from the year 1990 approximately the mattresses must be more than 10 years old they are all stained and full of fleas the rooms have carpets full of fleas very deteriorated everything if you come on vacation this is not your hotel because you will have a bad time and All the fleas will bite you like us or your whole body will ache from sleeping on a €20 mattress
- Debbie (10/5): - Great value. Bigger rooms, tasty breakfast. Air conditioning wasn’t working when we entered room, immediate response by staff to try and fix, when they realized it wasn’t quick fix we were moved to another room right away! Thank you😊
- pascal georges (6/5): - Acceptable
- Marcus (2/5): - By far the worst. All hotel sites should remove this hotel. It’s nasty, smells and absolutely no parking. Stay away!
- Masaomi (4/5): - Wash basin was too small to do anything like toothbrushing, facewashing, although receptioninsts are friendly and kind.
- Ioannis (10/5): - Central location with many restaurants/place to visit in a close proximity. Metro station was only an 8 minute walk from there and the receptionists were all great with their friendly advice and kindness.
10/10 from me :)
- Szabolcs (2/5): - Wall from paper
- Khandaker (10/5): 4 days in Athens - The hotel is located south to acropolis. The nearest metro station is less than 10 minutes walk. And then only one station to Acropolis. It takes 20 mins to walk to acropolis. So the hotel met all the criteria I wanted. Clean, comfortable, and and convenient .
The staff were very friendly and were always helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. By the way not tea or coffee in room.
- Jonathan (10/5): - all good.
- Sofia (10/5): - Place was clean and good overall. Staff were very friendly and helpful!
- Everardo (10/5): - My stay at Hotel Ilissos was a great experience. It was very clean. It has a rooftop lounge that has great views of the city. Hotel Ilissos would just be an empty building if i wasn't for the great staff. Thank you Natasha, John and Penelope and all the staff for the great enjoyment and hospitality.
- RADHEY SHYAN (8/5): - The staff is v helpful , they went out of their way to help me when I was in stress and crisis. They cover up for any lack in terms of location or amenities there in, I would want to stay there again and again just as it can assure me that in a new city I have people who can help me when I need it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - everything was perfect , clean room and nice staff
- Joseph (10/5): - Staff have been amazing, even building a rapport with breakfast staff. Room was clean, air conditioned and had everything I needed. And the view from the roof top bar out across the city to the acropolis was stunning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff at the reception were most helpful & could not of done more to help during my stay.
If there was a downside, whilst the hotel is not far from the Metro, initially the hotel was a bit awkward to find. Having said that, if the Sat Nav had not sent me down the wrong street, this would have helped. The hotel is located 2 stops from Parliament square & one stop from the Acropolis.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bad wi fi, lack of fridge in the room, walkable to city centre
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This was our first time in Athens. We were traveling with friends. At the time of booking our friends booked the same type of room that we did. When we checked in our friends had been upgraded to a Grand Suite and we were given the room we originally booked. I am ok with them upgrading our friends but it should not have been done when they were traveling with another couple. I was extremely tired and disappointed with how this was all handled by the staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - GREAT LOCATION CLEAN AND NICE FRIENDLY STAFF. LOVELY ROOF BAR AND GREAT RESTAURANT
- Ann (8/5): - Very serviceable, staff helpful, good location, room clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to sights and easy to get to. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was great. Room was nice
- John (10/5): - Friendly hotel staff who spoke English. Nice lobby space suitable as a waiting area and for meeting friends.
En suite bedroom was comfortable although some of the furniture was a little dated.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We arrived very early but staff allowed us to check in, they were very kind and helpful. The room is very good and reasonable price. This place located pretty close to parliament and walking distance for restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff. Everyone was very helpful and enthusiastic to talk about the city. Subway and bus station is right around the corner if you don't want to walk or your destination is further away from the center of the city.
- tom (10/5): - the personnel was great, from the reception to the restaurant, It is however in an older part of town and the streets were dirty but i always felt safe, my room was small but clean and had an excellent view. i was lucky i was on the back side so i could look at the acropolis and did not hear any of the traffic. there are tons of places to eat within a few blocks, you are within a 30 minute walk of almost everything and the tram, bus stops were within 2 blocks. it was 95 + degrees all week and i wish they would not have shut my ac off every day while cleaning. I guess i am just spoiled that way. definitely a good value.
- Chris (8/5): Perfect but very slow internet - Service, comfort and cleanliness are all perfect and very satisfactory. Only one thing, hotel needs to improve the speed of their internet...quite slow specially if you’re inside the room. Still need to go down to the lobby to experience some improvements with the speed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a horrible airline experience and arrived very late. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. It was a perfect place to rest for the night!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Near centre, near Peiraeus port.nice price.
Did not have parking
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room smelled a little musty, but other than that, it was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location, price, cleanliness and specially their staff!!!
- Sam (10/5): Good place in Athens - Very nice hotel. Has elevators, good wifi, great breakfast and large room. They even packed us a lunch when we had to leave before breakfast to catch a ferry... just ask the day before! The front desk offered advice and directions and check-in was smooth. The area is a little dark and seemed a bit sketchy, but a couple streets over is a very busy road with lots of shops and restaurants. Easy 15 minute walk to the subway station Sigrou-Fix on the red line.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, great value for money, close to everything, spacious and comfortable.
Cons: do not have parking lot but plenty space on the street
- Ramon (10/5): Hotel Ilissos - Right across really posh hotels, but far away from Plaka but a good walk and hike to a hill overlooking the Acropolis. Rooms was quiet and beds really comfortable. Subway station 10 minutes away.. staff very sweet.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The good thing was that this was close to our conference hotel and the price was very resonable. However, there was a large group that checked it during my stay and they were extremely loud during the night times! Loud banging on the doors and shouting well past the midnight is not ideal when you are trying to get some sleep!
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect - Perfect
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quiet place, clean, always willing to help, not to far of important sites, excellent breakfast.
- Rajai (10/5): - Nice clean hotel. Clean but small rooms which is typical for Athens
- Verified traveler (8/5): A then - It was good. Did not get umbrella from hotel or near hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Quality matches the price - We had stayed in a few hotels during this trip and this was the less comfortable of all. Nothing specific, but you'll really get what you pay for: Mattress of the bed was very thin and almost folded when we laid down, as well as there was no double bed and rather two singles together. Shower was disappointing. Location is not bad but not good either, we walked about 10 min to get to a street full of restaurants and came back by taxi (ok'ish). It was not dirty but it not give the impression of real cleaninless. During our other stay in Athens (3 nights) we got an apartment in plaka and it was much better. Would recommend to make the effort to spend a little more in Athens, should be worth it.
- Bhavya (10/5): - My stay at Hotel Ilissos was amazing! I stayed 7 nights with my friend and I have no complaints. Breakfast was great and had many options. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. In terms of services, they provided us twin beds as requested, cleaned the room everyday, helped us figure out the public transport system, and they went out of their way to print a boarding pass for me. In terms of location, I thought it was fantastic! It’s a 15 minute scenic walk to the city center. There’s many strips of restaurants only a 5 minute walk away. Public transport to the airport is only an 8 minute walk away. And to top it all off, the rooftop had an incredible view of the Acropolis and Mount Lycabettus. All this in a four star hotel, at an unbelievable price!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff nice and helpful.
However, I was given some used bathtowels that need to be changed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Inexpensive hotel for one to two days stay. We were out all day doing sight tours, clean place just to sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice big room
- Linda&Ian (8/5): Convenient to shops and tourist attractions - Couldn't fault the hotel or staff except to say the front of the hotel could have been better presented. The inside was however lovely and the staff were friendly, helpful and very obliging.
- Adriana (10/5): - Its a nice hotel, the staff is amazing And they have a nice roof top to have some drinks. The closest metro is a little far away but you can walk everyone.
- Aliaksandr (8/5): Good hotel for short stay. - Good hotel for short stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Old hotel with poor room facilities for a 4 star hotel.
- C (8/5): - A nice, affordable hotel. Not too far from the sites of Athens, but definitely in a rougher looking neighbourhood than the main restaurants and attractions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Affordable hotel with great quality - Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was a bit dated but had some great amenities.
Pros:
- 24 hour concierge service
- rooftop patio with views of the Acropolis
- wifi in the rooms
- spacious room
- 15 mins walk to Acropolis
- 10 mins walk to metro
Cons:
- the area surround the hotel was a little rough - safe during the day but maybe avoid walking around at night time
- minimal restaurants near by - one nice 24 hour diner with food and dessert
Cons:
- Susan (8/5): Good if a bit featureless - Comfortable room but the air con was not up to the job and the room controls had no effect. Restaurant average. Roof top bar had a great view of the Acropolis but you could die of old age waiting for a drink.
- Rania (8/5): - We had a great experience at this hotel. It's a bit older and seems to be surrounded by dodgy buildings, but it's not dodgy at all. It's a really great place to stay. Our room was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The buffet breakfast is pretty good and will definitely give you a good start to the day! Only about a 15 minute walk to the Acropolis and lots of sites.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel Ilissos - Nice enough hotel in a less desirable part of town. Internet was down for most of my stay, so that is really inconvenient when you are trying to plan your travels for the next day. The hotel itself though is actually fairly nice and comfortable.
- S (8/5): Near tram stop, comfort rm, good customer service - 10 min walk from Metro, near tram stop, good customer service, good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not too far from Plaka - 20 minutes by foot from from Plaka - the area with busy restaurants, etc
- Jonathan (8/5): - The reception staff was the highlight of this hotel. They were extremely knowledgeable about the transit system and taxis. They also knew about ticket offices for ferries to Santorini. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The shower was a little hard to operate and went from cold to boiling hot often. The hotel was satisfactory, all things considered.
- frank (10/5): - best hotel with staf
- salima (10/5): Incredible service, tasty breakfast and comfy beds - Alexios, the receptionist you were an absolute star. He helped us with sorting out bus tickets, taxi transfer, recommended the best restaurant we ate at the entire time in Greece. Amazing service, couldn't be happier. Breakfast buffet was very varied, tasty and the staff there were also lovely.
Comfortable beds.
Few cons: noisy and rather ugly area (big main road) but we got lucky and got a room not on the street so it was not an issue. Poor soundproofing however so the group of 30 ladies arriving at 1am, shouting at each other from opposite ends of the corridor and slamming doors woke us up. The outstanding service and food made up for the slight inconvenience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): OK for 50 Euro - - it was OK for this price. the refrigerator was locked. I don't know why.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Easy and fast - Easy and fast check in
- Varini (8/5): Hotel llissos; Very Good & Satisfactory - I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights & 3 days. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience as the room size, facilities in the hotel and in the room were very good. The staff was very polite and helpful. The restaurant and breakfast facilities and products were excellent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel was okay as a base to tour Athens. Very noisy road outside. Carpets and walls in room were very dirty. Breakfast was okay. staff were pleasant.
- Dayra (10/5): friendly - Nathaly at front desk was very friendly and helpful..we had a very early flight so they fixed some breakfast lunch to go . That was really nice. We definitely will come back.
- mohamed (6/5): below expectation - We stayed for one night , it was below expectation , location was not bad. Breakfast was ok but hotel facilities were not so good. the hotel looks old .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall good but overpaid. I asked for a single room but they only had a double and ended up paying more than I wanted. They did not offer a refund or any other compensation.
- Jack (8/5): Nice location - A decent hotel with usual attitude problems in an excellent location. The roof garden is a little overrated...
