• Eric Kelly (8/5): - Not much to complain about at all. Be careful when booking as the room booked on Expedia and room we got there were not the same. One bedroom beachfront villa on Expedia translated to a one bedroom Jr. villa at the resort and was said to be a software disconnect???? Resort had no interest in fixing the problem for us. All other staff was amazing.

The staff are fantastic, from the excellent bar staff (Obie and Roddy), to the boat and excursion captain (Andre), to our coordinator Daisy. We will 100% be back, it's that fantastic. 5++++ stars.

Excellent staff, good food for a resort, and with capacity only for 35 guests you may find yourself completely alone like we did for our first few days. Kayak over to a private beach and swim with the fish (no sharks!) overall a very relaxing vacay!

We were picked up at the airport, taken to the dock, and transferred by private boat to this stunning private island. Shaka Caye is peaceful, exclusive, and ideal for anyone who wants to disconnect. We stayed in a beachfront villa, and waking up to turquoise sea views from our balcony while enjoying fresh coffee and breakfast was unforgettable. What truly sets this place apart is the personalized service. The staff was warm, attentive, and always made sure we felt comfortable—whether bringing piña coladas to us on the beach or checking in just at the right times. We took a guided tour where we saw nurse sharks up close—an incredible and safe experience. I celebrated my birthday there, and the staff surprised me with a personalized cake and a romantic private dinner. Every detail felt thoughtful and sincere. If you’re looking for privacy, natural beauty, and exceptional service in a quiet, Shaka Caye is the perfect destination. We left completely relaxed and already dreaming of coming back.

• Matthew (10/5): - My family and I just got back from our stay at Shaka Caye and I have to say that all of the positive reviews are dead on. The cottages are literally a step away from the beach and are well appointed (comfortable beds, plenty of space, hammock on the porch) with an amazing view of the ocean. We were picked up at the airport and driven to a small marina where we had a short 30 minute boat ride to the island. We were greeted with delicious drinks and smiles from the staff. Our bags were brought to our cottages and were given a mini tour of the island. We had no complaints whatsoever regarding our stay, but the 2 highlights for us were the absolutely AMAZING staff - Glenda the manager for keeping everything running smoothly, Obie and Michael at the bar with endless drink choices, Daisy for arranging our excursions, Edwin and Mark for our boat trips (2 snorkeling trips), the groundskeepers and lastly the kitchen staff. For the kitchen staff, this was by far the best all-inclusive food we've ever had compared to other resorts we've stayed at. Multiple choices for each meal, everything prepared fresh - DELICIOUS! Thank you to the Shaka Caye staff for an amazing vacation that we will always remember and cherish!!!

• Monica (10/5): - Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Once you arrive in Belize City, you are chartered to a marina (15 min) then taken by boat (30 min) to the island. You are greeted by staff immediately with cocktails waiting for you. The stay is intimate… you are 1 of 32 max guests on an island. (During our stay there were maybe 15 guests total at one time). Which means it is easy to schedule all activities on a whim. We as novice did reef fishing, kayaking in the ocean, reef snorkeling! All meals and an afternoon “bar snack” are provided with an open bar for your enjoyment. The staff are amazing and cater to your every need while giving you the privacy to enjoy your vacation. All were great but specifically Andre, Obi, Glinda, Daisy, Reddy, Michael, Percy, Evelyn treated us like family. Would love to return!
• Isabel (10/5): - This is a beautiful island. Great vacation if you want a quiet, relaxing and secluded time. The food was amazing. You need to take a boat off the island to do excursions and that can be pricey. Also, if you like to watch TV at night, you should take a tablet, since the villas do not have TV’s.

• Sara (10/5): - Shaka Caye is a MUST for people who enjoy the tranquility of a tropical island, but have the option for ADVENTURE. Not only is there much to do on the island (kayaking, sand volleyball, paddle boarding, local sea life, a near-by caye you can explore all on your own-) you can charter a boat to enjoy Caye Caulker, snorkeling and cave tubing. My partner and I aimed to do charter a boat for an inland-adventure, but ultimately were so enchanted by what the island had to offer we just stayed put :) Shaka Caye did help coordinate a fly-fishing expedition, with success! Shout-out to Jamal- The staff at Shaka Caye was stellar from the moment we got on the tender to the island. They were friendly, shared about themselves, were fun to talk to socialize with and beyond accommodating. From Obi showing off his carefully-crafted-creative cocktails with Michael by his side, to Daisy making sure things ran smoothly, Percy giving us the low-down about meals with his charismatic spin- we were full of joy the entire time. Glenda in the office even let me quickly borrow her scanner- Please also understand not once were we hungry, and everything we were served was top-notch and came with options. The rooms were beautiful, modern (tasteful) temperature controlled and well-kept. If you are considering Shaka Caye for your island vacation, do not hesitate!
• Timothy John (10/5): - Really lovely ‘get away from everyday life’ holiday. Super helpful and friendly staff (who work so hard), food choices were great and liked how quiet and peaceful the small island is. So relaxing made it very hard to want to do anything! Only tip to add: if you’re a pasty white ‘gringo’, make sure to pack a decent insect repellent as when the wind drops and the sun is out, so are the sand flies. The staff recommend baby oil! Would recommend coming to Shaka Caye in a heartbeat.

Rodwell for spoiling us and last but not least Edwin for being such a nice and attentive Captain initiating me on my first fishing trip! Kudos to the Chef for the amazing food! This small corner of paradise is definitely unforgettable!
• Stacey (10/5): - Shaka Caye was the most amazing island and vacation I've ever been on! From the time we got to the marina, the boat ride to the island we were greeted with a cold towel and drink and friendly staff!! Each and every staff member was AMAZING, and friendly and wanted our stay to be the best! We celebrated 2 birthdays while we were there and they all went above and beyond to make them special. From homemade birthday cakes they brought out to us while singing happy birthday, to decorating our room with palm leaves and special birthday message on the bed. At times we were the only visitors on the island so we got to explore and hang out with the staff and it was just such an awesome place to be! I would go back in a heart beat! The food was phenomenal with it being farm/sea to table, there was no food that I did not enjoy, it was all sooooo yummy! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! We love Shaka Caye and all our Shaka Caye friends!

My only critique would be the need of a pool and reconditioning the beach and the beach front wall. The food is outstanding. The staff is incredibly accommodating and very friendly. We enjoyed watching a family of dolphins from the restaurant balcony while eating breakfast. We went snorkeling, booked a day trip to Alton Ha & the midnight cave, went deep sea fishing, Day trip to Caye Caulker where we petted nurse sharks, fed the tarpon, saw stingrays & enjoyed the shops & restaurants. We were well taken care of on all of the excursions & enjoyed the one on one treatment we received. The food was delicious & fresh! I highly recommend Shaka Caye!
• Lori Ann (10/5): - I never thought I would be able to experience a private island in the Caribbean. This place is incredibly beautiful, clean and quiet with the best service and staff. The food was absolutely amazing and all 3 meals can be served right to your cottage every day. They offer several different adventures to add on. One that we did was the private snorkeling tour with Andre at the mesoamerican barrier reef. I traveled with my elderly mother who wouldn't have been able to swim the reef, so they pulled her around with a life raft while she observed the reef. If you want a private Caribbean vacation without the crowds, book Shaka Caye. We were so pampered that we didn't want to leave.

Couldn't have asked for anything better. One note is that if you want to do anything off the island, it's a process to take a 40 min boat ride to the main land. • Jaymie (10/5): - Let’s just start by saying WOW. If you want breathtaking moments and one of a kind experience this is the place for you. The staff, location, amenities, everything and more. If you want to relax by yourself, have everything brought to you or have great time at the bar and dining area choice is yours. No pressure anyway you want to enjoy your stay. Everything you can need is offered (kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, sleeping under the starts listening to the waves and more) if you want tours and other adventures you’re covered. Highly recommend the stress reliever massage. Everyone is so friendly. We got to meet the captains of our boat Edwin and Andre right away with a great trip in. We were greeted with cold towels and drinks the moment we arrived. Veronica was great anything you need she has an answer and solution right away. Our bartenders Randy, Percy and Obie were stunning. With local drinks or if you don’t know what you want just ask for something or anything they want to make. These drinks were truly one of a kind. The chefs at Shaka Caye beautifully showcased Belizean cuisine as they had 2 options to choose from for every meal (my husband and I got one of each and shared everything) plus they give you a tasty snack in the afternoon. I’m going to miss my fry jack in the morning! Our first trip to Belize was truly unBELIZEable. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to end our honeymoon! We will be back for sure. Shaka Caye has made sure of that.

The island itself is stunning—peaceful, tranquil, and a slice of paradise. We loved the activities too, with kayaks and snorkeling gear provided, making it easy to explore the beauty around us. Shaka Caye is more than just a resort; it’s an escape to paradise created by the most authentic, caring people. We can’t wait to come back!
• Eden (10/5): - Our stay was excellent! Requests made in advance for services and a special birthday surprise were all easily accommodated. The bartender/waiter became our best friend by the end of the trip. The food? Chef's kiss! Every single meal was either delightful or delicious. Every staff member we met was incredibly friendly. We were the only guests on the island, and everyone still made it special. It was completely safe and relaxing. A tip for drinkers: We supplemented our liquor from the airport duty-free store and were able to use it for our cocktails.

• Bobbie Jo (8/5): - Shaka Caye was exactly what we wanted and needed from our vacation. My husband and I have never been so relaxed while vacationing. No real schedule, low key, breathtaking location, staff takes a minute to warm up to you, but we understand they are trying to gage how much or how little you want to socialize. We enjoyed getting to know each and every one. Bryan, George and Logan were our favorite servers. Rodney and Percy were our favorite bartenders. Veronica and Fiona were amazing from the reservations to email communications. Gigi, the best chef ever! Her table side manner was impeccable from the explanation of the food options and preparations to the next meal options. She even fished for us one afternoon because we were one of two couples onsite. What a treat!! The maintenance crew could pay closer attention to detail, as my husband picked up a few screws and nails on the island. The re was a flapping vent we could hear at night, but I am admittedly a light sleeper. We opened up all the widows during the day to allow the perfect island breeze flow throughout our villa. Thank you to all of the Shaka Caye team for making it a place we will dream about until we return!!
• Sareh (10/5): - Great hospitality, easy communication with the staff, delicious fresh food, nice calm beach, Access to kayaks, snorkeling gear, and paddle boards, great snorkeling and other tours available for an extra reasonable fee. The cottages were large, modern, with a private balcony. The beds are very comfortable. Everything was easy. No complaints at all.
• Cheryl (10/5): - This was a vacation of a lifetime. The resort is very small and quiet. The service is excellent. I worked with Jacob prior to our arrival and he went above and beyond to meet our expectations. Edwin can take you on an adventure that you will never forget. His knowledge and personality made it so much fun. The chef was amazing, every meal he cooked was delicious. Now Hector…this guy…he made all our drinks, delivered food to our room, brought coffee when asked. He is a character and writes the menu options out daily (it was the highlight to see what he would come up with). Everyone on the island treated us great. Made sure we had everything we needed and then some. Beachfront is the way to go, the views you can’t beat. Romantic dinner on the beach is a must. Book the trip with Edwin to go to Caye Caulker for a day. It was so much fun. There was only 2 other couples there when we were and we became friends and went to Caye Caulker together. The staff set up a bonfire, found all of us our own crabs to have races, gave us a firework display. Just Amazing! Book it and enjoy. We plan on going back for sure.
• Brie (10/5): - We had a wonderful time at Shaka Caye. The staff was amazing and very welcoming. We happened to be the only guests for our stay and they never once made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. Instead, they said, don’t feel bad, the island is all yours! How cool! We reef snorkeled and went to Caye Caulker, all of which I would recommend as our guide was fantastic. We also got great massages, ate great food and drinks. Anything we would have asked for, the staff would have made it happen. We felt incredibly safe with our 4 year old running around as well. We highly recommend this resort!

• Whitney (2/5): - Shaka caye was not the experience we were hoping for. We booked for 4 days and left the island the morning of day 2! The food was horrible, could only eat on the island schedule. Not all inclusive on drinks or food. They opened on there on time. We took the boat to Caye Caulker for fun, food drinks and adventure. If you want to stay on the island and do absolutely nothing this is it.

• Ivelices (10/5): - Shaka Caye is an amazing hidden treasure. The private island experience was like none other. Because there are only 10 villas on the island (none of which were all occupied at one time during our stay), there are times when you feel like (or actually may be) on the island to yourself. Beautiful beach views no matter where you were on the island and had the special treat of dolphins outside our room in the mornong. The staff are super attentive and the chef even made special menu items throughout our stay because I am plant based and my huspand is a pescatarean. Special shout out to Rodwell, Fiona, Josh and the Chef for a memorable stay. Only suggestion to the property would be to consider having snack options throughout the day (outside of the 4:30 bar snack or at least offer guests the opportunty to make a pit stop at a local grocer on the mainland before heading to the island. We will definitely be back!!!!

The island is gorgeous, rooms super comfortable, incredible dining experience, but the thing that really blew us away was the staff! We felt like VIPs the entire time we were there. Big shout out to Breeze who was seemingly everywhere all the time. Definitely take a tour with Dre… a Caye Caulker local who guided us to see sting rays and swimming with nerf sharks. The island I’m not huge but if you want a Belizian flare with some quiet island tranquillity… I have a hard time imagining a better place to recommend!
• nicholas (10/5): - Our trip to Shaka Caye was perfect from beginning to end. Transportation to and from the island was quick and easy and everything about the island was as advertised. Beautiful surroundings, very nice accommodations, good food and drink options, and an amazing staff that works hard to cater to the guests. Quiet and secluded but just a short boat ride away from all sorts of activities.
• David (10/5): - We just returned from Shaka Caye celebrating our 25th anniversary in late April/early May. Our updated cottage was very nice with everything needed. The bed was surprising comfortable. The island was quiet and very low-key so if you're looking for seclusion and relaxation, this is it. Most of our 6 day stay had only one other couple, which made making friends very easy. On one day, we were the only guests on the island. The food was great; never had a bad meal. The staff were outstanding. We couldn't have asked for better service. They were very accomodating booking excursions and working with us on meal times. Big shout out to Ray and Ismael for keeping us well-fed and mixing drinks (ask Ray to make you something special!). They were a delight! Andre took us on a snorkeling trip at the reef, and made the whole thing just amazing. He got us close to a dolphin so we could swim with it -- highlight of our trip! He made the trip to the reef so enjoyable. The sweet ladies in Housekeeping did a great job too. Edwin transported us back and forth from the mainland, and always communicated with us if the water was going to be rough, change in course, or just timing. Overall we couldn't have met nicer people! The only cons are they need a robust ice machine to keep drinks cool (I believe one may be on order), broader drink menu, lighter food options for breakfast and lunch, and consistent wifi.
• Kyle (10/5): - The property was very secluded, which meant very little competition for staff or cleaning service attention. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Overall i went on several excursions that the staff recommended to me that were either provided or arranged by the resort. Including snorkeling, trips to mayan ruins, fishing on and off the island, and massages.

• Lamone (10/5): - We had a amazing vacation at the Shaka Caye. The staff was AMAZING!! It was very quiet and peaceful. The view was out of this world. If you are looking for a place to unplug and just enjoy the peace and tranquility of a beautiful view and weather then this is your place!!! The staff was so helpful and so pleasant. Fiona the manager was very knowledgeable and helped book excursions that fit us. Kelly, the hostess and sometimes bartender always had a smile on her face. Ismael, was so friendly and attentive. The entire staff was something I’ve never experienced with that level of care and hospitality. I can’t wait to go back and visit again. Absolutely AMAZING
• Michael (8/5): - Loved it. Very quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Would only love it more with the upgrades. Absolutely plan on returning. Staff and food were wonderful; give those 5 star. Accommodations need some updating; give those 3 star. Property came under new ownership from when I booked to when I stayed. I assume that contributed to difficulty communicating at first. I was told the new owner plans on making some updates to the restaurant, the cottages and adding some additional amenities such as a pool, which would put this place over the top.
• LUCIAN (10/5): - Truly amazing vacation! We spent one week on a family vacation with our young adult son. By far the greatest beach vacation! Wonderful people, beautiful nature and such a special location! Everyone is so attentive, and makes you feel so special! Everything was an A : transfer, accommodation, trips to caye caulker, absolutely the best snorkel and diving, and a mouth watering food! The service here is unparalleled and you feel so pampered! We will always remember this vacation and we would love to be back ! Will be raving and talking about it for a long time, and cannot wait to see what Carlos and the team have planned for this place to make it even more special! Thank you for a truly blissful stay!

• Jennifer (10/5): - I just needed to have some solitude and a disconnect from the real world and this was a perfect choice.the manager Carmen,Jyra and Kelli took amazing care of me,including bringing almost all of my meals to my cottage and brought me a cocktail anytime I wanted one.The internet worked pretty well considering you are on an island in the middle of the ocean.Jyra took me on a private snorkel tour about a 15 minute boat ride to the crazy beautiful reef that had the best snorkelingI have ever done,it was truly amazing!

• Charlotte (10/5): - This resort is absolutely breathtaking! My husband and I were greeted by the property manager, Carmen, who was very helpful during our stay. Anything we ever needed, we just asked, and there it was! The cottage we stayed in was very roomy, with a nice hammock, table and chairs on the back porch. Our stairs led directly to the beach, where there were kayaks and paddleboards to use. We were able to kayak out towards a little island and it was as beautiful as the resort. The cuisine on the island was diverse (we had no dietary restrictions) and always delicious. I highly recommend the snorkeling and the sunset boat cruise activities that the resort has available for purchase. The bartenders were helpful and friendly, as well as the overall staff. I recommend this resort for those who need to get away from all the noise of life! Very relaxing, we will be back!
• Patricia (10/5): - You can't beat the location--a private cottage right on the beach with an awesome view. There were only five cottages on the island, which made for a very quiet, peaceful, and enjoyable stay. The staff were fantastic. Carmen was attentive to all our needs. She came by every day to make sure that all was good. The food was outstanding. We loved having the option of eating at the restaurant or having the food delivered to our cottage so we could enjoy it on our porch overlooking the ocean. The interior of the cottages could use a little tlc, but don't let that hinder your decision to stay here. You won't be disappointed.
• Michele (10/5): A lovely Stay - The island is quite small but we had it almost to ourselves. We had a lovely stay. The views are beautiful. The food is absolutely wonderful- they have an excellent chef. Because of covid, maid service was every other day but that was sufficient. My only reproach was not having been warned in advance to wear bug spray if it is not windy and to bring creams for bites.
• Lawrence Robins (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at Royal Palm. This family owned treasure is a wonderful place to relax as well as explore. The staff makes you feel like part of the family with their personal attention to every detail - from meal options to excursions to making sure your lounger is as comfortable as possible. We were so sad to leave this paradise and hope to be back in the future!

The food was really good, and the chef made a few special dishes out of the fish we caught from our backyard! Fishing was great from shore or kayak with spinning tackle. We caught a 30lb barracuda, a bonefish, several jacks and snapper. What a stay!

We were picked up at the Airport by a driver, taken to a small port and whisked away on a 30 foot boat to a small island where the resort is located. Several staff including a gentleman managing the resort named Ricky and one of trusted restaurant and bar staff members named Roddy were eagerly awaiting to greet us with two island punches.

I can’t say enough about the staff. They are extremely nice and accommodating. I took 3 kids of very different ages that range from 21 to 3 years. None of them wanted to leave. We did do the snorkeling experience, and is by far exceeds snorkeling in Australia. That speaks volumes. I plan on going back soon. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. This place is truly for relaxing, but offers excursions for those who want to explore.

They try to keep a chill and relaxed vibe for the island and they truly care about making sure you have a good experience. We happened to be the only couple on the island for a few days while celebrating our honeymoon. On our last night there they went out of their way and prepared a special table for a romantic dinner on the beach. They helped create some very intimate moments for us as a newlywed couple. We felt very loved and impressed with everyone. You totally need to book this place!! I could go on for hours about all the paddle boarding, snorkeling and sea life we saw but you just need to experience the beautify of this place for yourself!

Hospitality level could be improved upon with some more customer service training... sometimes we felt like we were bothering the waitstaff and they seemed to be irritated having to make certain drinks. Would have loved if occasionally someone would offer to bring us drinks to the beach. They keep the grounds and beach very clean. No wi-fi in rooms or at bar which is a bit of a hassle when you need to check in on kiddos at home. also keep it off at the dining room when eating times are over.
