- elizabeth (10/5): - We stayed in a double room off the courtyard and it was lovely. Especially Loved the duo of local music in the bar area with Carmel Dempsey who has such a beautiful voice. Staff were very accommodating and drove us down to the Ashford Castle for a peek. Breakfast was delicious. In Cong took 'The Quiet Man' movie tour which is not to be missed! Ate dinner in Pat Cohan's bar which is featured in the John Wayne movie.

- Chris (8/5): - This property is not at the castle but rather on the castle grounds. I was told it is a “different experience” than those staying at the castle. It was generally a very nice stay. A delicious breakfast was the highlight of our stay. Other meals were more hit or miss and though tasty, a bit overpriced considering the more informal atmosphere. The decor was a bit bizarre, like they couldn’t figure out what style they were going for. Some areas were like a Las Vegas casino with mirrors, bright red tiles and modern art, while a turn of the corner elicited a feel for 18th century rural charm with a cozy fireplace.

- Cindy (10/5): - The Lodge at Ashford Castle is a beautiful option for those wanting to stay near the castle but not pay the exorbitant price to stay in the castle. It was comfortable and charming and has everything you need, you have access to all the activities and you can walk the entire grounds and get beautiful photos of the castle. The breakfast is also delicious! Keep in mind that the Lodge guests can’t go inside the castle at all unless you are dining at one of the restaurants.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Not the standard we expected unfortunately! - Booked a suite room for two nights. Decor and styling of the room not what we expected, with red plastic-y faux leather headboard on bed and bright red carpets. Furniture was quite tired and a bit dated. Spoke to Aisling on reception who was very helpful and we were moved to a new room, a blue version of the original room, with a blue faux leather couch. Accepted as we didn’t want to move again. Again, furniture a little tired and dated. In-room dining advertised as having menu on hotel TV channel - this channel didn’t work, neither did any of the RTE channels. Went to bar in The Lodge for a drink. Lots of empty tables with reserved signs on, when asked barmaid where to sit she said anywhere with a reserved sign. No staff came down to take order, so after 10 minutes waiting, ordered at the bar. Waited 20 more minutes and waiter came down and asked again what our order was. When it came out, it was still wrong. Service in the restaurant in the Lodge was average, food nice but came out within less than 2 minutes of ordering which doesn’t give good impression of food being prepared to order. Staff appear to be mostly young and inexperienced. Aisling on reception excellent and Enda also very helpful. Had dinner and afternoon tea in The Castle, both fantastic experiences. Staff in the bar in the castle couldn’t do enough for us. Morning dog walk also absolutely fantastic - would recommend! Overall the standard in The Lodge let it down and we would think twice about returning.

- Susan (10/5): - What can I say about this hotel that hasn’t already been said? It was simply amazing. We took a break from our family heritage tour and headed north of Galway to stay at The Lodge at Ashford Castle—and I’m so glad we did. One of the highlights was the Hawk Walk, offered by Ireland’s School of Falconry right on the property. My husband loved it. The hotel offers other experiences as well, and there are 350 acres of trails to explore. They even provide a trail map so you can plan your route. The estate includes lakes and streams for fishing and boating, and the views from the Lodge are breathtaking. Although we stayed at the Lodge, which is a fraction of the cost of Ashford Castle, we were treated as full guests of the entire estate. We had access to everything the castle offers. The service was excellent—professional and warm. Paul at the Lodge handled everything from luggage to transportation around the estate, always with a smile. Clarissa at the front desk and Vorchek at breakfast were also wonderful. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were amazing. My only suggestion: consider adding a door between the kitchen and dining room to reduce noise. It was loud and we asked to be moved and we were accommodated. I'm so glad we were because the meal was a solid 10. Thank you to the chef and kitchen team. This hotel was a highlight of our trip. Rooms are two story with a downstairs sitting area, electric fireplace and patio. Upstairs is a cozy bedroom and luxurious granite bath. If you’re not in the mood to walk, they offer shuttles up and down the hill to the Castle, gardens, golf course and tea room.

- Kelly (10/5): - We recently stayed at the Lodge at Ashford Castle, then a night at the castle itself. I have never experienced such a level of service. Everything was amazing and the staff went above and beyond to exceed our expectations. They have raised the bar.

- Steven John (10/5): Wedding anniversary. - Fantastic stay, the staff are so friendly and everyone was so nice to our 2 little dogs which ee really appreciated. The breakfast was delicous and the dinner is worth going back for more, it was superb. We enjoyed our stay. It was our wedding anniversary which we informed the hotel months in advance and it was not acknowledged which was disappointing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wedding anniversary - We booked for our wedding anniversary and also invited family to join us for a stay. I had emailed prior to book dinners and excurisons for our stay and informed it was our wedding anniversary but it was not acknowledged which was disappointing as we had stayed in a hotel the previous night who noted our anniversary and we appreciate attention to detail. The staff are very friendly especially Brian who kindly helped with our luggage and driving us around. Breakfast and dinner was delicous. We appreciated how dog friendly the hotel is and the lovely dog beds, bowls and snacks that were in our room. Our 2 little doggies were well looked after.

- Niamh (10/5): Fabulous - We stayed for 2 nights in a duplex suite room 121. Decor is modern, bed extremely comfortable (only item to be andjousted is the shower as no matter what direction your in water leaks out). we had our dog with us and I have to say she was treated like a VIP with a treat left for her, dog bed, bowls and towel and all the staff were super nice. The food In wildes restaurant is outstanding and the venison for main course was superb. The only criticism is if you have breakfast in the gallery with your 4 legged friend the service is a little disjointed. However, they did provide food for her also. All in all an excellent stay and we will definitely come back.
- John (8/5): Couples break - Lovely welcome, shown to room which was dreadful. Bright red carpets and bright red plastic bed. Felt like we were in a pornstars bedroom!! Also a shower over the bath which we don’t like. Asked to be moved to another room and advised reception that we were Gold hotel.com members ,eventually after quite a very long conversation and a long wait we were upgraded to a beautiful suite. We ordered room service one afternoon and paid €18 for a soggy awful toasted sandwich, at checkout we were astonished to see they had charged us an additional €7.50 for bring the sandwich to our room. We were also charged €20 staff tip, we asked for the tip to be removed, we had already tipped several staff. The staff at breakfast were delightful, the doormen were very friendly. The breakfasts were very good. We ate at Cullen’s at the Castle one night, food and service were excellent but we felt it was overpriced.
- Emily (6/5): Opaque marketing, limited access to the castle - Maybe I missed it but I feel the marketing was very opaque regarding access to the castle. STAYING AT THE LODGE DOES NOT GIVE YOU ACCESS TO THE CASTLE. you only then can access the castle by booking a reservation for an 80 euro per person tour or a meal at one of their restaurants, but they don’t tell you on their website which restaurants are in the castle. If you have a booking for a restaurant, They will let you walk around and explore the castle and go to the bars. You can’t just go in to get a drink at the bar. Restaurants: Cullens is in a thatched house next to but not in the castle. Wildes is at the lodge, not in the castle. Stanley’s is in the basement of the castle but does not take reservations. George V is a traditional fancy restaurant in a ballroom type setting. The drawing room is the main room attached to the Prince of wales bar and has a nice view of the back grounds and lake. Lunch only. The connaght room is for afternoon tea, also a beautiful setting. The dungeon is in the basement of the castle. This is where we ate and the food and service was very good. Very nice ambiance. Bars: The billiards room. Has a large snooker table and they will teach you how to play! Has a real fire and smells like it, but in a cozy castle kind of way. Menu is the same as the bar downstairs. Small outdoor patio. Has cigars as well. Prince of wales bar. Nice classy bar on the main floor. Same menu as upstairs. The lodge: Beautiful rooms, heated floors, small fridges.
- Diane (10/5): - Another Good stay at Ashford Castle Lodge We stayed two nights in a quay Suite Suite was very clean & comfortable It is worth the little bit extra to stay in a suite if you can Male breakfast Host & Lady Host were absolutely excellent ( so sorry I do not have names ) The lady did her best to assist when maintenance were drilling in a room directly above us during breakfast service Breakfast was a good quality, the house home made baked beans are a must ! you will never eat heinz again On check out, the friendly & efficient reception Manager was very helpful in sorting a small issue that was previously highlighted to the reception team during the stay without resolution We did not eat in Wildes restaurant this time but was very enjoyable previous stay We enjoyed drinks/ lunch on the terrace & after dinner drinks in the lovely bar The new spa/pool was not open yet ( another couple of weeks ) but the friendly manager showed us around, he is obviously very proud of his new project & rightly so as it looks amazing! The grounds are extensive & very well looked after, there are lovely walking trails A very good stay !

- Kathryn (10/5): Amazing service, delicious food, and pup friendly! - Staying at the Lodge was a beautiful experience and I hope to return soon. We brought two dogs and the staff was incredibly sweet and accommodating with them. Plus the food and setting was amazing. We took a tour of the lake by boat and a trail ride with Ashford Outdoors and both were lovely. I also joined the wolfhound walk in the morning and had a ton of fun. The best part of the stay was the amazing staff. They were kind and looked out for us our whole stay.

- Craig (10/5): Wonderful Option on the Ashford Castle Estate - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge at Ashford Castle. The service was absolutely top notch. Every employee was a true professional. The hotel itself is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The property is beautiful. We enjoyed walks around the property and into the nearby town of Cong. We didn't take advantage of many of the activities available. Some were age-restricted (we have a six-year-old) and others were booked up. Ashford reaches out to guests urging them to book activities and meal reservations early to avoid disappointment. Definitely take them up on that recommendation. Include a reservation for something in Ashford Castle itself. Guests of the Lodge aren't permitted to enter the Castle without a dining or other reservation. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were well equipped, even including US-style electrical outlets in some places. This hotel is a bit pricy, but we felt it was worth it for our family of three. One of our tour guides told us that the Lodge was named Ireland's top 4-star hotel a few years ago and that Ashford Castle was named the world's best hotel at some point. That's not surprising based upon our experience.
- Meda (10/5): - Although we weren’t able to book a meal at the castle, so that we could go inside & tour it, we still loved staying at The Lodge. The room, service & meals were delightful. And, we truly enjoyed the 2 hour afternoon boat ride that included a walk to see church ruins on an island. We also really enjoyed walking around all the castle grounds. We sure hope to come back & bring our family with us!

Several amenities at the castle are afforded to the Lodge, but not all - confirm and book beforehand if you're interested in falconry, horseback riding, etc. The boat across the lake is a lovely outing!

- Kelly (10/5): A Fantastic Stay! - We had a lovely stay at The Lodge at Ashford Castle. The reception staff were extremely helpful, Ian in particular! We loved sitting in The Quay Bar in front of the fire. We did activities at the activity centre, these were both great fun and really well organised. It was a lovely touch to be dropped to the centre by the staff at the Lodge. Everything was really fantastic.
