- R7943ZXdg (4/5): Disappointing hotel - Before getting into the details, I want to note that after we raised concerns with management, the hotel did make efforts to improve the situation. We were upgraded to a villa, provided additional bottled water and amenities, and assigned a staff member to assist with the checkout process. These efforts were appreciated and did improve the latter part of our stay. That said, this review is written after those rectification attempts and is meant to reflect the overall experience as a whole, so that future guests have a complete and balanced picture. ⸻ Overall Atmosphere: Guests Often Felt Overlooked The most consistent impression throughout the stay was a lack of attentiveness toward guests physically present on site. I understand that many hotels in China now rely heavily on “customized butler service” via WeChat, so staff using their phones does not automatically indicate unprofessional behavior. However, in this case, phone use frequently coincided with guests being ignored in front of them. At the front desk, Library Bar, and afternoon tea area, staff were often on their phones while guests were seated and clearly needed assistance. If phone use was related to guest messaging, there did not appear to be any system in place to ensure on-site guests were still being attended to. The result was not multitasking, but rather the feeling that present guests were simply not a priority. ⸻ Afternoon Tea at Library Bar When we went to the Library Bar for afternoon tea, there were very few other guests present. Despite this, no one greeted us, offered menus, or poured water. I eventually had to get up and look for a menu myself. The menus we received had visible stains and marks, suggesting they had not been cleaned or replaced in quite some time. Both waitstaff and a male staff member at the front desk area were on their phones during this time, rather than assisting with ordering or explaining the menu. ⸻ “UNWIND” Snacks Offering Regarding the “UNWIND complimentary snacks and beverages” period, the snack selection and quantity were very limited and did not align with the description of an unlimited offering. ⸻ Public Areas and Cleanliness Across multiple public areas of the hotel, floors were noticeably sandy and dusty. This was not a one-time observation but something noticed repeatedly at different times of day, suggesting that cleaning and maintenance were inconsistent. ⸻ Serious Hygiene and Privacy Issues (Pool Area) This was one of the more concerning aspects of the stay. On two separate days, at different times, the women’s changing room near the pool was unusable because a male maintenance worker was inside, attempting to fix a toilet that was blocked and actively overflowing with sewage water. The situation included: • sewage water on the floor, • a male staff member working inside the women’s changing room, • construction equipment present in the space. As a result, I could not change into swimwear and had to leave the area entirely. This was not just uncomfortable, but raised clear concerns around privacy and hygiene. Additionally, the indoor pool jacuzzis had a strong odor resembling urine, further discouraging use of the facilities. ⸻ Rigid Service Execution Without Problem Solving On our first day, we arrived approximately 12 minutes late to a scheduled yoga class and were not allowed to join. The staff member at the gym desk simply repeated the rule and did not offer to help book a later session or suggest an alternative. Later, we observed participants entering and leaving the class area during the session, which made the initial refusal feel unnecessarily rigid and inconsistent rather than thoughtfully enforced. ⸻ Restaurant Communication and Concierge Confusion On the evening of arrival (around 8pm), we asked the front desk about dining options and were told all restaurants were fully booked. When we politely asked what else might be available, the response was simply “I don’t know,” with no follow-up or suggestion. I had emailed the hotel in advance about our stay and dining needs, but no one proactively warned us about potential wait times or limited availability. A family member traveling with us has health considerations, and extended waiting without food is not ideal. This situation could have been avoided with better communication. The following morning at the villa-only breakfast area, we asked a waitress whether it was possible to bring a few items from the general breakfast area. She replied that she was “not sure” and then walked away without checking or returning. ⸻ Water Activities and Guest Recognition At check-in, we asked whether there were any water activities available. The concierge first asked whether we had booked a “package,” checked the system, and then said there were no activities, suggesting we “ask the people on the beach.” Our reservation was made directly through the official Hyatt app/website. It was confusing to be asked about packages and to feel that guests booking through third-party platforms seemed to receive clearer explanations or recognition. This differed noticeably from experiences at Hyatt properties outside China. ⸻ The Beach Itself The beach is a small, narrow strip and is fully public, with no separation from non-hotel guests. Having visited beaches in places such as Miami, Mexico, and other coastal cities, this beach was fairly ordinary in comparison, both in scale and overall experience. ⸻ Small Details That Added Up We booked two rooms, and one of them did not receive welcome fruit or water, which appeared to be an oversight. On its own this is minor, but combined with other lapses, it contributed to the sense of disorganization. ⸻ The Good To be fair, there were positives worth mentioning. Breakfast quality was good overall, and the coffee here was noticeably better than at the EDITION hotel we stayed at previously. Champagne at breakfast was a nice touch. The minibar was well stocked with a good selection of drinks. Architecturally, the hotel is beautiful. The spatial design, scale, and setting still have strong presence. As a designer with an architecture background, however, it was also clear that many areas are suffering from insufficient maintenance, which diminishes the impact of what is otherwise a strong design foundation. The issues felt less about design intent and more about ongoing management and upkeep. ⸻ Final Thoughts Overall, the hotel has solid bones and moments of quality, but the experience was repeatedly undermined by service inconsistency, lack of on-site attentiveness, communication gaps, and unresolved hygiene and privacy concerns. This review is written after the hotel attempted to rectify the situation, and while those efforts were appreciated, they did not fully address the broader operational and management issues encountered during the stay. For guests who value attentive service, clear communication, and well-maintained shared spaces, it may be worth reviewing recent feedback carefully before booking.

НИКТО не говорит по-английски и, когда я изначально читала отзывы, думала «ну и ладно», но не тут то было. Сложно разобраться даже с мелкими бытовыми проблемами в виде вызова такси, заказа в румсервис итп.

Всегда есть, чем накормить ребенка. Территория очень ухоженна. Лежаков всегда хватает, не надо вставать в 6 утра, чтобы занять место. Первые четыре дня пребывания не обновляли мини-бар. Вопрос решился после нашей жалобы. Не всегда хорошо убирают номер. Не всегда обновляют тапочки, как и количество халатов всегда разное. Приходится об этом напоминать и все исправляют. Время уборки всегда разное и сложно подстроиться, уходим на море и до обеда нас нет в номере, можно ведь убрать в это время, но мы возвращаемся в 15:00 и вот он персонал с уборкой пришел, в итоге номер не убран.

Πολλές επιλογές για μπάνιο σε θάλασσα και διάφορες πισίνες, με ιδιαίτερες ανέσεις και με μεγάλο αριθμό ναυαγοσωστών παντού. Πολύ φιλικό σε οικογένειες με παιδιά σε διάφορες ηλικίες. Παντού αίσθηση ασφάλειας, φροντίδας. Πολλές επιλογές για δραστηριότητες στη θάλασσα, σε μια παραλία που είναι ιδιωτικής χρήσης, διαθέσιμη μόνο στους πελάτες του ξενοδοχείου. Δωμάτιο με εξαιρετική άνεση και θέα. Η θάλασσα δεν ήταν διαθέσιμη πάντα για ελεύθερη κολύμβηση, εξαιτίας του ανέμου, ενώ και η οριοθετημένη περιοχή για κολύμβηση είναι σχετικά περιορισμένη.

Огромная задержка с заселением после назначенного отелем времени, На 1,5 часа, а мы с ребенком. После отель заселяет в номер с самой маленькой кроватью, хотя бронь на номер с большой на нас всех. И не оставляет вариантов. Спать комфортно не возможно. И после позднего по их вине заселения, заставляют выселиться своевременно в 12. Максимально не приятно.

Первый номер заселили в 15:30, Второй на полтора часа позже положенного времени. За сутки так и не вернули неизрасходованный депозит, оплаченный при заселении. Попросили трансфер до аэропорта , заранее вечером закали его через службу для гостей, однако в 4:45 узнали, что никто ничего нам не заказал. Произошла неприятная ситуация на пляже, забрали плот и отдали другим гостям. Все это перечисленное крайне испортило впечатление об отеле.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. A special shoutout to Brandon, our butler, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. His attention to detail, warm demeanor, and willingness to assist with any request made our holiday truly special. Whether it was arranging activities, transportation, providing local recommendations, or simply checking in to see if we needed anything, Brandon's service was top-notch! The resort itself is stunning esp at night time, with beautiful surroundings and crystal clear water beach for snorkelling and motorised water activities close by. The staff's commitment to providing an outstanding experience is evident throughout the property. The pool is cool but not fun for teens. It’s more for family with small kids or photo shoots. Have a kids pool, would be good to have a tropical pool with deeper water for teens and/or adults to have fun. No nice drinks and food at the pool. The food / restaurants onsite are very limited. We barely can choose what we like from the menu. The best part is the breakfast.
- ckrtang (10/5): A Serene Escape at Park Hyatt Sanya - My time at Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort was awesome – it’s this cozy spot on Hainan’s coast that just feels like a proper escape. The beach was the best part, with super clear water for snorkeling and stuff like paddleboarding. My family and I hung out there all day, checking out fish and chilling. Breakfast rocked, especially the VIP area for Globalists or suite folks – think fresh fruit, yummy pastries, and eggs however you want. Food in general was solid, mixing local tastes with global vibes that everyone loved. The staff made it shine though. Alice was a total gem as concierge, sorting everything ahead of time, and Carol nailed the checkout. She’s up there with the best I’ve seen. Yeah, little glitches happen, like a random storm, but they fix it fast and friendly – that’s why it beats other posh hotels. Photo shoots were fun and turned out great against that view. Perfect for families; we’re definitely going back!

- mouz2017 (8/5): Beautiful resort with good service - The hotel is beautiful and well-maintained, with good service overall. Akira from the staff was especially helpful and responsive, providing all the information we needed and quickly addressing our requests. However, the check in process was slow and disorganized, with the lobby crowded: many guests were standing, sitting on the floor, or letting their children run around. The biggest issue we encountered was the lack of smoking control in public areas. Many guests were smoking freely around the beach, the pool, and even next to the kids’ pool. There were no designated smoking areas, and no staff were present to manage the situation. This made it difficult to relax, as there was often someone smoking nearby, even in family-friendly spaces.

- Cecile (9/5): Amazing location, with exclusive views and snorkelling directly from the beach! Great pools and kids club too. - I chose this hotel specifically because I had read in other comments that we can swim in the sea and snorkel directly from the beach, and it is true! There is a small reef and some nice fishes to be seen, which is rare in Sanya. The beach and snorkelling staff are super nice. Other positives include the huge pool, heated indoor pool, several hot baths, and a free kids club with many activities which can keep kids busy several hours a day. And also beautiful views, including from the sea view rooms. No other building is visible from anywhere in the hotel, making the location extra exclusive. Apart from the external architecture which I find too massive, the layout of the hotel is also very complicated, it’s easy to get lost. The western food options are quite limited (breakfast is ok but during the day there isn’t a lot of choice). And it’s a bit cumbersome that we have to sign a different waiver at every pool to let kids play by themselves.

Although food delivery to the hotel can be limited, food overall in the hotel is great. However there is room for improvements on the variety of food under the in-room dining selection. I was quite disappointed the selection of cocktails and champagne were not given.it would be amazing if such selection were open as the view from the room is amazing and it will be great if it can be accompanied with a drink.

The people here let you feel like being at home. Thanks to Chris that organized a special surprise for my BDay. And thanks to all the guys and girls in the Pool House especially Bella, Winnie and Henry. Everybody was super professional. From the moment we arrive at the check in till the daily help from the maid. The food at the Chinese restaurant was delicious and Jeffrey introduced all the dishes for us to better understand the food we had. Hopefully we will be here again.
- jacklC2312BW (6/5): Underwhelming experience, lacking soul and vibe, resort offerings did not live up to the price range - While others have praised the hotel’s design. I believe the biggest drawback is the hotel’s design and architecture itself. The resort is unnecessarily large for no reason and doesn’t best utilize its the space, resulting in a very large empty hotel that lacks any soul or vibe, creating an underwhelming experience. What’s missing are cozy cabanas or sitting areas where couples of families will want to sit and spend hours at. We ended up just going back to the room as there weren’t many places you’d want to ‘relax’ at. The hotel could have more shops or another restaurant to provide variety and fill up some of the spaces, as currently, all the hotel really seems to offer are extremely long and large hallways with not a lot to see in between getting from one spot to another. More activities and events could also be on offer to guests for a truly enjoyable resort experience. Having said all that, the staff were exceptional, including Edwin and Caroline, but perhaps the hotel offering and design is just a bit outdated and will find itself hard to compete against newer developments on the island.

- angelagammit (10/5): Stunning resort - This is probably one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed at. The architecture and interiors are stunning. Every hall and room are meticulously designed. It's insane how gorgeous it is. That said...it's a hotspot for photoshoots. On the day we checked in, there were at least 4 groups with professional photographers roaming around. But the hotel and grounds are so massive, and it's so not busy...so it wasn't too annoying. Check In - 8/10 - Pretty smooth, but just ok. We don't speak Chinese, but the front desk staff spoke pretty good English. There seemed to be more scrutiny and background checks on our passports than other hotels we stayed at in China. So that took a while. Also the deposit is very high (about $1,250); higher than the cost of the 2 nights we spent there. Also usually hotels of this caliber would give you a welcome drink or have you sit - nothing like that here. Still, the rest of the experience was fine. The front desk helped book our dinners and gave us a quick overview of the hotel layout (which can be confusing at first). The Room - Very nice 10/10. It was large, clean, modern and comfortable. The AC/HVAC was good (good temp. and not too dry). We had a balcony and ocean view. The bathroom had a huge walk in shower with overhead rain spout, WC with Japanese style washlet, double sink vanity with chair, and separate bath tub in front of the balcony window. Amenities were good, all the basics included (no face skincare though). There was even a wardrobe space with plenty of storage and an iron. The mini fridge area included water, soft drinks, juice, beer, coffee/tea etc and some snacks. Food/Restaurants - 9/10 - Overall the food and service were excellent. We arrived and had Afternoon Tea at the Library bar area (very good, maybe too many sweets). The first night we had hotpot buffet at the main restaurant (delicious and great variety) and the second night we ate at the Tea House (very delicious, but we wish there was a chef's tasting. As a couple it's hard to order family style). Both mornings we had their breakfast buffet (very good, wonderful selection of both Chinese and Western options with made to order egg dishes, waffles/pancake/french toast). Yes, it was a bit expensive (more in line with prices in Stockholm or maybe NY or LA), but we expected as much since it's a resort. The quality and taste were worth it. Pools - 9/10 - Very nice, clean and maintained. The main infinity pool is huge (like 130 meters wide). There's also a smaller indoor pool. Indoor Jacuzzis. And a family, child's pool with a small water slide and play area. It was never busy; we always found open lounge chairs, towels and bottles of water waiting for us. Sometimes there was a small food truck with snacks or ice cream. But other than that, it's a pretty simple area to just relax in. Please note that the vibe is very different than resorts in Europe, the US or Mexico...you won't find people day drinking; there's no bar by the pool/beach. Or maybe it was closed (there was a big circular concrete structure by the family pool that looked closed-just being used for storage...idk). Beach - 7/10 - Good and bad. The sand is nice and fine. There are plenty of loungers. There's a lifeguard, roped area for swimming, and you can borrow inner tubes, surf boards and other equipment. The water temperature was pretty comfortable (even in late nov). The beach was clean...BUT - there is a lot of plastic garbage floating in the bay. At first it was fine, but then when the tide came in - it became disgusting. This is supposed to be one of the nicest beaches in China...hate to see what the other beaches are like. Apparently cargo ships just dump their garbage in the water further out...and the plastic makes it back to shore. So maybe just wear a wetsuit. Overall - great hotel. If you're in Sanya, this is probably the best resort as long as you're looking to just relax (no party vibe here).

- 953yic (10/5): Far exceeded my expectations as a long time Globalist - Just got back from a 2 night stay at this property and it has far exceeded my expectations as a long time Globalist and Hyatt hotel explorer in China. First, this hotel is magnificently built and maintained. It's massive and feels like an architectural design masterpiece. There are Instagram worthy photo spots almost everywhere you look inside, not to mention the natural beauty of the Sunny Bay and outdoor pool areas, which are stunning. Yes, this tends to attract the social media influencers (or "wang hong" in Chinese) who are not only hogging up the photo spots, but also typically bring 2-3 of their camera-men along, so the hotel at times will feel a little bit less private and crowded because of them. Not a huge deal as you can simply ignore them. Note: the hotel is still in a gated off private area of Sanya with its own private beach, so you're already shielded from 99% of the huge typical tourist crowds of the city. Second, if you search this hotel on Chinese social media and travel booking apps, you're going to see a TON of negative reviews and reports of incidents of bad service, poor room condition, awful experience, etc. Going into this stay, I was definitely concerned. But I quickly realized how exaggerated the negative reviews were, and now suspect foul play in many of the negative reviews written. Having lived in China for 10 years, here's my take on why so many negative reviews pop up for this property: 1) This is an expensive hotel by Chinese standards, so the typical Chinese guest who rarely stay at properties in this price range, are going to expect a heavenly palace-like experience for the money they paid. 2) Consumers in China are highly demanding of service people in general. Anything less than bend-the-knee type of service is going to offend them (ok I'm exaggerating here but it's not as far as you think from reality). 3) I wouldn't be surprised if some of the bad reviews originate from competitor properties. There are third-party contractors businesses can hire for cheap to generate this kind of bad press. And this type of malicious competition exists in almost every industry in China. 4) A big draw of this property is its architecture, you end up wondering how many staff hours and dollars are dedicated to just maintaining it on a daily basis. But this isn't going to impress most Chinese guests, who are used to seeing grand displays of infrastructure even in small tier 4-5 cities.
- Valeria (10/5): Very relaxing and fulfilling stay - We liked everything about this Hotel: - the design is great - the atmosphere overall is very relaxing - rooms are stylish - a crystal clear beach 2mins away walking with hotel’s sun loungers and umbrellas - hotel staff is very friendly and helpful - the variety of European food and fruits at breakfast is truly amazing Thank you for the experience 💖 Nothing at the moment, however, we could see some upcoming signs of “hotel-aging”, in a couple of years the hotel will demand renovation in rooms and common areas inside.
- CSchwang (10/5): Great - Great Location. Hotel is in a fairly private location away from everything else. Definitely the best hotel I‘ve been to in Sanya so far. The interior is beautifully designed. Even though the last renovation is quite a few years ago: you wouldn‘t notice. Everything is kept in impeccable state. That said: the designated ocean swimming area is fairly small and closes at around 6pm. So it can get crowded if you want to take a swim in the ocean.

Close to near by stores and restaurants. Free shuttle to duty free malls. Again great care and hospitality from Linda, will be back.!!!

Prepare masks. A very bad kids' club. There are a lot of staff, but the children play and study themselves. There are no signs to get to the kids' club. There is no entertainment on the beach. At dinner, the staff asked for the room number several times and rather brought some checks to fill out. Without giving time, enjoy eating and socializing. When checking in, no one told about the possibilities that there are in hotels.

Gorgeous hotel and property really indicative of luxury in all regards. The property features many different specialty art pieces worth a visit even if you are not staying in the hotel.
- horacejeffryk (10/5): Wonderful stay at a gorgeous hotel - Our stay at the Park Hyatt Sunny Bay resort in Sanya Hainan was way too short. (3 days) The hotel is located at the end of a road in a bay with a gorgeous view over the bay and South China sea. We were warmly welcomed by the Head Butler Taylor Jin who also gave us his We Chat contact so that we could reach him 24/7 should we have any questions about the hotel or anything else. We happily made us of that possibility and Taylor was always quick to answer with good advice. The Hotel itself is a piece of art and has many artworks throughout the different buildings and is therefore a "feast for the eye" We used the 130 meter pool not only to swim but also to paddle on a surfboard. With separate pools for the very small and small kids we did not have to worry that we would bump into them with the surf board. English is widely spoken throughout the hotel which is not always common in China. Breakfast was great as all food was from superior quality . Obviously here the motto was quality above quantity and that is the way it should be. Winnie made sure that we were not coming short of espresso, orange juice and food. The Chinese restaurant is in beautiful old style Chinese decoration. At the Terrace Bruce Shen took great care of us during The Club Happy Hour assisted by Linn Lin and the next day by Winnie. Our 168 m2 suite was marvelous and had a magnificent view over the bay and part of the South China Sea. It was a (too) short but wonderful stay and looking forward to go back there again. - tommy3028 (2/5): glad I only stayed for two nights - Stayed at Park Hyatt Sanya for two nights back in March, glad I only stayed for two nights. Before arriving the property we had very high expectations but this stay turned out to be one of my worst. Check in was long, apparently lack of check in clerk, but there were many other staffs standing there playing with their phones. The front desk had no smile, no proper greeting and very slow seems don’t know what she is doing. The room is lack of maintenance please see pictures. Beach is very very dirty. Found a fly in my breakfast noodle soup. when I pointed it to a cook he pretended can’t see the fly in the soup and no apologies. Tried the bar, the bartender shows poker face and seemed not willing to serve at all. Highly doubt most of the staffs are inters. I almost slipped when stepping out of the elevator holding a bottle of wine and two wine glasses. Why? Because the cleaning lady was mopping the floor and not even putting a sign.

We like the delicious foods, heartfelt services and beautiful sceneries. My family enjoyed days there and we even don't want to go any other travel resorts in Sanya anymore.
- 962iang (10/5): A truly wonderful hotel stay. - I would like to say how wonderful an experience we had at the Park Hyatt sunny Bay Sanya. The hotel itself is truly amazing in its style and design even being a few years old it still looks cool and modern. The big plus for me, not being a Chinese speaker was the effort the staff went to assist me with and questions I had. They were all very friendly and attentive. We ate in most of the restaurants in the hotel and were not disappointed in one of them. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough as a non Chinese speaking foreigner I was made to feel welcome and valued.

- Stephanie (8/5): Not up to international tourist standards - Overall this hotel was a disappointment. I really like Park Hyatt (espcially for their Le Labo product), and that was probably one of the only highlights of the trip...and maybe the wine which was decent. This hotel is quite large and spread across many buildings with very confusing hallways and little sinage to get around. In addition, the hallways are extremely hot with no air flow. My check-in process was not 5 star quality and when I got to my room the air con was not working. It took at least an hour to resolve by the time I called and got somoene to come and fix it. Not very fun for a hot summer night. The overall design of the hotel is nice, but it definiely caters toward local tourists and will be a disappointment for anyone used to the standards and overall experience of the amazing hotels and beaches in Thailand/Bali. The beach area for the Park Hyatt is private which is nice, but they will not let you walk very far on the beach and swimming is restricted to certain areas. Overall, I was looking for a relaxing weekend away and I left feeling even more stressed and frustrated.

- HAN (10/5): 超赞的度假体验 - 酒店的景色很美，而且在十一期间客人并不太多，这正是我们事先所期待的，酒店的工作人员都很热情，会设身处地为客人着想。其中有一位工作人员见我妈妈一个人，还主动为她拍照了一个多小时，要着重表扬一下。而且酒店的餐非常好吃，推荐虾饺和文昌鸡。
