Equipe acolhedora e simpatica Nada
- Carveth (9/5): I only stayed 2 nights but would have liked to have stayed more - Alma Historica Hotel is in a smartly renovated & extended old building in the Old City of Montevideo. The area is pretty shabby at present but has a lot of charm. It is very convenient for people who use the Buquebus high speed ferry to & from Buenos Aires.
The beds were firmer than my preference but still comfortable.
The staff were very helpful & friendly. I'm spoiled by European hotel's breakfasts. South America doesn't do breakfasts like the Europeans.

The hotel has a very individual feel and is in a beautiful old building. The staff were always extremely helpful and spoke very good English which helped us.

- Beverly (10/5): This hotel is a little gem. - While this hotel is beautful, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and in a great location, the staff really stand out as exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast, too, is memorable, a beautiful buffet that includes fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, eggs made to order, and much more.
- Barbara (10/5): -
- Rolf (10/5): - Wunderbar ausgestattetes Boutique Hotel im Herzen der Altstadt. Jederzeit zu empfehlen
- Dennis (9/5): - Authentic hotel, stylish and comfortable, attentive staff, good breakfast. Staff and manager are very helpful, willing to go an extra mile, much appreciated. Not about the property, but the old town area of Montevideo is not the best place to stay if there is no specific reason to stay there.
Laundry service that works with the hotel was way too expensive.
Excelente lugar!! Nada
- Jeff (10/5): Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of old town - The staff was very helpful in all respects. We had a group of six that greatly enjoyed the rooftop space to relax at the end of a day of touring

- O7279IMalexm (10/5): Best Hotel experience in my life - My friend and I had the great fortune to stay at Alma Historica Boutique Hotel on a recent trip to Montevideo during the first half of January 2026. I have never experienced such personalized care and attention at any hotel in my lifetime. It felt as though I was visiting best friends. The daily complementary breakfast is terrific – with complementary juices, fresh fruit (it was ) pastries, sandwich meat and croissants, wonderful coffee and tea service and made-to-order omelettes. My room consisted of three rooms with local artwork on the walls and books related to the artist and to the area. The bathroom included a bidet and heated drying rack for clothing. Every member of the staff made me feel welcome and provided excellent service. My friend and I asked them about restaurants and tourist locations. They provided excellent advice. I give this hotel my highest recommendation.
- Angelica (10/5): - Nos encantó el hotel! Excelente todo
- Ricardo (9/5): -
- Ana (9/5): Relax, great service, fríe but professional, feel comfortable and so easy to walk around - Their history in every corner It is not a dislike but I found it contradictory to have a TV on the room but not a way to communicate with reception
- Adriana (10/5): it’s a very cozy place :) - the staff was very kind to us all the time, the breakfast is delicious and the bedrooms are clean and comfortable. Our favorite part was the study where they allowed us to stay even after we checked out. nothing to complain about:)
Excelente
- Aura (10/5): Great location by a quiet park. Great rooftop terrace - Perfect location by a park (great place to sit and chill outside hotel). Centrally located in Old Town. Great rooftop.
- lillithJake (10/5): A New Years Highlight - This is a lovely small hotel well located in the Cuidad Viejo and walkable to the places we wanted to see. We stayed here for New Years and were provided with excellent recommendations for dinners both nights. The entire staff is welcoming and helpful. I want to recognize Roxanne is particular as she was most helpful, responsive, professional and provided the best for a wonderful experience! Thank you to the entire team!
- Prantik (9/5): -
- P1KGK (10/5): Great stay - We stayed for 3 nights and had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel is decorated to a high standard with some beautiful touches in respect of the pictures and ornaments. Breakfast is a sheer delight. A varied carefully delivered choice of high quality food, in addition the staff are helpful , smiley and make you feel totally at home, including providing the home made chocolates which I loved !

- Kritikus (9/5): Historisches Hotel an bester Lage - Sehr freundliches Personal, gutes Personal historische Erinnerungen an Carlos Gardel Eigentlich nichts für diese Art Untekunft
- Martin (10/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): A lovely little themed boutique, with helpful staff and a good location. - The historic theme runs through the hotel, even down to the cute and authentic tea cups and crockery. The bedrooms are all individual and honour important people in Uruguayan history. Nothing
- 139anned (10/5): Unique hotel with a taste of history - This is a unique hotel in the heart of Montevideo’s old town. The rooms are named after important characters in local life and enhanced with carefully chosen artefacts; ours was inspired by famous tango singer Carlos Gardel. The hotel’s decor is art nouveau inspired and you feel like you have stepped into another era. Breakfast is exquisitely presented with a good choice and eggs can be cooked on request. There is a small roof terrace with chairs and a little jacuzzi. There’s no bar, though they can sell you wine, but there’s a fridge in the room (though no kettle) and supermarkets nearby where you can buy drinks if needed. Lovely welcoming staff and a great place to experience the old Montevideo.
- Oseli (9/5): -
- Diana_Boyle (10/5): Lovely experience. - Immaculate, small boutique hotel just a short walking distance from the centre of Montevideo. A few restaurants and bars close by.
Lovely room, very comfortable and clean, large bathroom with walk in shower.
Hotel has a small roof terrace with wonderful views of the surrounding area.
Breakfast is served in a small dining room which was a little cramped if all the tables were occupied, but the food was great and cooked to order, along with a good selection of hams, cheese, fruit and pastries.
There’s bar service, or you can take drinks to your room.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble.
- holly (10/5): -
- Stefanie (9/5): - Leckeres Fruehstueck, sehr huebsch eingerichtet.
- Patricia (10/5): - Has a class and charm.
- Aguida (10/5): Maravilhoso - Lugar lindo, calmo, aconchegante.
Quarto otimo, banheiro espaçoso, com várias comodidades, roupao.
Cafe da manha, um capítulo à parte. Delicioso. Um dos pontos altos do hotel. Ambiente lindo, com musica ambiente. As louças antigas, um charme .
Staff do Hotel impecável. O Emanuel ficará na nossa memória. Gentilíssimo e prestativo.
- Bruce (8/5): Very comfortable stay in the centre of the old city - Breakfast was quaint, adequate and fresh. Eggs as required, Beautiful fruit drink on offer, table service. Room was large, bed very comfortable, bathroom and shower very nice if not a little tight for 2 but functional. Rooms were very quiet, lift access. In great location in the centre of the old town. Staff were very helpful with all enquiries, bookings and Cabs etc No tissues in room, no coffee or tea facilities in room but available as required from front desk
Rien
- Pauline (9/5): None - History of premises & quirky interior

- mcdermott1955 (10/5): Superb small hotel - What a fantastic hotel only 15 rooms all individually named. Used to be an old mansion house and all the charm and history has been preserved. Manager / owner, Nelson and his staff could not have been more helpful and would definitely recommend the hotel. Self help breakfast on a brilliant old fashioned side cabinet.
- Eduardo (9/5): -
- Patrick (9/5): Enjoy this wonderful place - Super location. Great breakfasts, Themed rooms from artists of Uruguay. The internet worked in some rooms and not in others.
The staff in the mornings were not at all knowledgeable about the city or tours. The afternoon person was very helpful.

- Samed (10/5): -
- RossG411 (10/5): Beautiful Boutique Hotel, Gracious Staff - The hotel itself was an incredible bargain. Located in the Ciudad Viejo section of Montevideo, it is near numerous sites of interest for tourists such as the Mecado del Puerto, Teatro Solís and much more. The area does shut down after sunset and at that time requires some awareness of which areas are safe.
The rooms themselves are a highlight with each literally having its own personality. Each room is named after a famous Uruguayan and is decorated to match, sometimes including actual historical artifacts. A true treat for those that want to learn about the city they're visiting. We spent several nights in the "Doña Juana" and one night in the "Don Carlos." Each room featured the required a small safe deposit box, very pleasant bathrooms, and a balcony that made us wish we had more time to stay in the hotel itself. The Don Carlos was particularly beautifully decorated to showcase the life of famed Tango singer Carlos Gardel.
The staff were even better than the rooms. It was our first time in Montevideo and we had numerous requests for information and some out of the ordinary assistance. They were very generous with their time helping us navigate the city. We were allowed to leave our luggage while spending a few days at an estancia in the countryside, permitted us to get a delivery from online shopping, and even helped us arrange to have our clothes cleaned locally. They handled themselves in a very professional and gracious manner.
The included breakfast was light but of outstanding quality featuring fresh, local products. The only problem is that it was so nice that I felt guilty about eating too much of it.
My only suggestion was that they should have a room for "Don Álvaro Pintos". I can understand why they would ignore this slightly unusual suggestion but with the world famous Uruguayan group giving a local concert in December it might be a wonderful opportunity for a little cross promotion if they at least had a temporary room such as the "Cuarto del Cuarteto (de Nos)".
Long story short, a great hotel. I would love to stay again and would highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore the Ciudad Viejo area of Montevideo.
- Sharon (10/5): - Hotel Alma is a charming hotel in the Old City. It has all the modern comforts and a wonderful staff
- Denise L (10/5): - We had such a lovely 4 night stay at the beginning of our Uruguay trip that we returned for our last night in Montevideo, same room with rooftop terrace. Didn’t try the hot tub. Breakfast is fantastic and all served in various antique china plates & cups in a beautiful breakfast room. We had tea & coffee served in the 1st floor library room filled with books ( some in English) and games. Staff very friendly, helpful and fluent in English. Do visit the museum across the street ( free admission/but donations appreciated) easy walk to restaurants, cafes & Mercado Puerto
- Morlin (10/5): Review - Stayed for 4 nights and it was beautiful, the location was just perfect. Although breakfast was included but it wasn't good but that's okay. The staff are really amazing and friendly.
- Douglas (8/5): -
- Denise L (10/5): What a gem! - What a wonderful gem! The hotel is beautifully restored historic building with many original features preserved together with addition stunning additions in furnishings & lighting & plants. Each room is named for an important historical person, we stayed on top floor 5th with a terrace overlooking the street & diagonally the park in one direction & waterfront in the other. Each & every staff member attentive, helpful & friendly. Beds comfy everything neat & clean. There’s even a library room on 1st floor we had tea brought to us there & read some of the books there as well. Breakfast was included and a real treat! All served in lovely original china plates, bowls and small cups but plenty of refills. We are coming back!
- Helena (9/5): -

- John (10/5): Fantastic stay at a super hotel in Montevideo - One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The service is exceptional and the whole staff are friendly and accommodating. They let us into our room a little earlier than the checkin time which was so kind as it was raining. The rooms are large, comfortable and the breakfast was superb. All in all a fantastic stay which lived up the great reviews this hotel already has. Well done the Alma Hotel! Nothing
- Gustavo Henrique (10/5): Perfeita! - Aconchegante
- Gabriel (9/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Beautiful themed boutique hotel, comfortable room, kind staff, great breakfast. - Beautiful themed hotel in the middle of the old town, not too far from the ferry. We loved our room, which was styled after the Uruguayan painter. Great-sized room, excellent shower. Enjoyed the view from the rooftop. Very kind staff - thank you for your helpful suggestions about the local restaurants. Good breakfast.
- Marco Aurelio (9/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- scottn949 (10/5): Perfect location - The staff is absolutely wonderful and helpful. Room was super clean (bring your own shampoo). Lots of television channels. One of the highlights of Montevideo is walking around "Mercado del Puerto," which is only a short walk away from the hotel. The breakfast was nicely done.
- Flores (10/5): Lovely property; great location; friendly and helpful staff - The staff were incredibly helpful. They helped us make and then change a car reservation to the airport when the airline changed our flight time late at night. We really appreciated their help.
- Julia (10/5): Amazing value - A unique property that has history and aristocratic elegance that will really enhance your visit to Uruguay and expand your understanding of the country. It even has a library for lingering and browsing! One of the very best and most memorable stays in our 30-year travel history to 40+ countries.
- Andrew (10/5): Top choice - Great staff. Brilliant location. Lovely building and rooms. Nice breakfast. No.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were very helpful and the hotel itself is beautiful.
