Guest Reviews
- Vargas (7/5): -
- dana (8/5): Eclectic local La Paz guest house experience - Pretty place. Host very nice. Wonderful home made empanadas, fruit, eggs yogurt great coffee for breakfast. Room was darling. Common areas were nice. Definitely somewhat Bohemian. A lovely guest house experience. Unfortunately I was sensitive to the cleaning product used on the room woodwork and had to leave.
- Matthew (10/5): Hands down the best bnb in Mexico! - What an incredible experience! The host made us feel like we were at home, the hacienda provides a serene beautiful place to relax within it's walls when you need a break from the endless excitement of Mexico, and he is one heck of a cook to boot! The breakfasts were extensive and so filling that we never had to buy lunch during our stay. Could not have asked for more, it was so above and beyond our expectations. We really enjoyed staying in the Centenario area; there was proximity to really good food at a better price than the La Paz Malecon, a top of the line pickleball facility practically next door and still close enough for quick trips to La Paz for shopping. Nothing not to like, if you are a true traveler and looking for an authentic experience this is the best place to lay your head in Mexico!
- Lola (10/5): - Everything about our stay was perfect. It is such a tranquil place to stay with so many thoughtful touches for guests. The breakfast was delicious and Dan and Winn were such gracious hosts.
- Laura (10/5): - Eine super tolle Unterkunft . Alles ist mit sehr viel Liebe eingerichtet . Das Frühstück war super ! Toller Pool und die beiden geben sich sehr viel Mühe . Eine wahre Oase ! Lohnt sich 100%
- Williams (9/5): - Wonderful place! Artsy and colorful, friendly hosts, good breakfast, wish we stayed longer!
- Marisa (9/5): Close to the airport. Authentic construction and not touristy neighborhood. - Authentic Mexican hacienda style property. Close to the airport. Good value. Thoughtful hosts. Dusty neighborhood, need a car to go anywhere.
- Ivon (10/5): - Its better then what the pictures are showing, very spacious woth lots of places to sit and relax, a few hammocks and lots of plants, friendly dogs and a cat.
The pool is amazing, -not for swimming-, its a bit small but deep and with seats inside, made of stone i.s.o plastic. Nothing
- Carol (10/5): It was a hidden gem.So lucky to have found tis place .We loved the whole experience and the hosts we - Excellent breakfast authentic Mexican A bit noisy with dogs but nothing bad
- Persiis (9/5): Becautiful environment , the whole space was made with a lot of love , didn’t feel like an impersonal hotel , but a home - Becautiful environment ,with a lot of love , didn’t feel like an impersonal hotel , but a home ! The rooms were big and spacious with little face masks to enjoy a relaxing evening. The cooking area is a bit small for making a proper meal and clean easily but , they suggested us an amazing sushi’s restaurant that does delivery and had the best time ! My friends that booked the shared bathroom, we’re a bit less comfortable, because at night they had to walk outside the Bangalow to use the restroom but it was very clean and shared only with one person .
- Cbeng (10/5): Relaxing comfortable stay in a beautiful environment with nice people - Lovely place to relax with gardens, fountains, art, books, hammocks, views, etc. Clean comfortable rooms. Super friendly and accommodating hosts. Delicious and varied satisfying breakfast choices made fresh with local ingredients. It feels homey in the best way.
- Gary (4/5): Disappointing, not as promised, not a useable kitchen as advertised. This is a glamping facility. - The room was large, unique bedroom ceiling.
The pool was clean and just right.
Breakfast was extraordinary. The place is advertised to have a kitchen for resident use. It is fully outdoor, covered in massive amounts of caked on dust (not just the normal weekly dust) and cockroaches.
When we complained, the owners were defensive and retaliated with petty comments such as "if you read the rules" "did not do proper research", etc... to explain why they, per their phone call don't dust the kitchen.
The shower was rudimentary, no shower curtain, so entire floor gets wet, with strict instructions form host to not use the bath towels on the floor.
Location is on the backside of a neighborhood that makes id difficult to get into the city, not walkable.
The full property access is exposed to weather, don't go if it is raining or you will need to stay in your room, the only permanent shelter.
- Hannah (10/5): My stay at Casa Xochitl was exactly the tranquil oasis i was looking for. -
- Deborah (9/5): Really appreciated the charming design, thoughtful touches, great breakfasts and wonderful bed. - Dan and Winn have created a really charming space It is both visually engaging -- interesting architecture, varied art and artifacts in the room, wonderful home-like breakfast space -- and comfortable. Our room had a king-sized bed, comfortable bedding, easy to regulate air conditioning (critical given a visit in a very hot time of year) and space to lay-out and use a yoga mat (which they kindly provided). Great breakfasts and good coffee were definite plusses. It would have been great to have had better ventilation in the bathroom. The place is also a little distance outside town (20-30 minutes was our experience), so you have to be aware that you can't just drop in to change your clothes or take a rest during a day of sightseeing. The trade-off is no city noise at night and lovely birdsong in the morning. I gave the place a rating of 9 but really would have liked the chance to rate it between a 9 and a 10. The defects were not major.
- Andrea (10/5): Funky, fun and laid back without resort pretensions. - Tastefully decorated. Scrumptious breakfast. Helpful hosts. This may be a booking.com issue. The listing comes up in a La Paz search, but the house is in a neighbouring town, which does come up accurately in maps. Perhaps the listing should say La Paz adjacent for transparency.
The 20 minute drive to La Paz turned out not to be an issue because we had a car.
- Camille (10/5): A little piece of heaven! - We really loved our stay at casa Xochitl. Such a beautiful, calm and relaxing place in a calm neighborhood. The breakfast was amazing every day and Dan and Winn helped us so much with organizing our activities or with recommendations. Nothing!
- Adrian (10/5): Lovely. Great hospitality. Liked it a lot! - Breakfast was great. Great hospitality, recommendations. Perks like an umbrella to takeaway Rules are stiff (breakfast at 8:30am), it's alright (and described when booking) but please read descriptions before and be aware.
Location is 20 mins out of town
- Jd (10/5): Delicious coffee, home made breakfast served on communal table, opportunity to meet and mingle, or just enjoy your own p - Delightful little private walled courtyard, individual rooms, outdoor shared space and local vibe. Rooftop leisure spaces, greenery, water features, house pets, communal home setting- lots of character and charm. It is in a true Mexico neighborhood, dirt roads, barking dogs, random noises and music and neighbors over the “fence” talking, etc—previous reviews we read had mentioned those. We just considered it part of the experience and nothing negative impacted our stay at all, we appreciated the community feel—and they provide ear plugs on the nightstand if it bothers you! Nothing we didn’t like :)
- Sandro (10/5): A wonderful place - It’s a wonderful place, very kind host, beautiful rooms and a superlative breakfast. The ideal place for visiting this fantastic area.
- Mary (10/5): Wonderful La Paz B&B - We loved everything!!! This property is a very unique and special spot. Dan and Winn are incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts, and the breakfasts are amazing - we didn't have room for lunch in the seven days we were there. The rooftop is a great place for a morning coffee or end of day margarita. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and super comfortable. Pups, Helen and Olly, and cat Taco are so sweet - we miss them! The location is perfectly described in the listing - it is in a local community a few minutes drive to the Malecon, not in the middle of the action but close enough, and there are some very good restaurants nearby. We were fortunate to find this wonderful property and hope to return soon!
- Nilay (10/5): Exceptional - This is an amazing authentic place, Don and Winn are great hosts with their friendly pets- Helen and Tacocat. We are very grateful that we spent our time there, certainly would come back again!!!
- Penny (10/5): Delighted Stay! - The hosts have taken great care in making the courtyard and rooms unique. beautiful and a relaxing space, We enjoyed the hot tub as the evening cooled off. The breakfasts served each morning were wonderful!! Dan and Winn also shared places of interest to visit and found a sports bar where we could watch the Chiefs play- off game. It was a delightful stay at Casa Xochitl!
- Joshua (10/5): Incredible hosts, beautiful property, and fantastic breakfasts! Highlight of our trip! - This property was beautiful! It is located in a local Mexican neighborhood with sand roads and from the outside it doesn’t look like much, but once you get inside the walls of the property, it is amazing! Indoor-outdoor living at its finest with gorgeous flowers and plants, quaint sitting areas, comfortable casitas, and even a small pool! The homemade breakfasts each morning were delicious and featured Mexican cuisine and local ingredients. The hosts, Dan and Winn, along with their pets, were friendly and welcoming. They loaned us snorkel equipment and beach chairs and even helped us book an excursion. They had restaurant and beach recommendations that were fantastic. Our whole experience there was amazing and memorable. We have no complaints at all and there was nothing that we did not like.
- Amy (10/5): Excellent! Highly recommend! - Every detail has been thought of in this beautifully curated inn. The bed, pillows and sheets were luxurious and we appreciated the heated beds during our stay! The hot tub, gardens, outdoor kitchen and upper decks were a treat to spend time around. Breakfast was amazing! Thank you so much for a very memorable time.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Casa Xóchitl was so nice! And the hosts were lovely and so helpful. Breakfast every morning was beautiful and such a treat. A very lovely little property.
- Wandering (10/5): Gem of a desert oasis -
- Mccluskey (10/5): Exceptional - I'd go back for the breakfast
Alone. Spa to cold
- Allison (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing - Breakfast was amazing, the courtyard was absolutely beautiful. The most relaxing space. We also loved having all the pets around, and very very comfortable sheets.
- Erika (10/5): Exceptional - Loved every detail of the place. Cozy and warm for anyone who is looking to have a calm and relaxing vacation. I have to say I liked very much everything.
- Marc (10/5): Amazingly beautiful property with fantastic hosts - Casa Xóchitl is a true gem if a place. Firstly the property is stunningly beautiful. There are beautiful plants, trees and cacti all around, with parakeets and humming birds drinking from the fountains. There’s a small rock pool where you can take a dip and cool off and a comunal kitchen if you need it.
Our room was fantastic, we had A/C a huge bed and all amenities. Everything you could think was provided, including robes for the pool. Every little touch has been considered.
Winn and Dan are amazing hosts, so kind and helpful. The breakfast is to die for, I would highly recommend including it with your stay. Dan recommended me excellent beach locations and a great tour of Isla Espiritu Santo. We will miss them both as well and the dogs and cat but will definitely be back. That we had to leave :(
- Javier (10/5): Exceptional -
- Walker (10/5): Desert paradise - Cannot recommend this place enough - one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've ever stayed! Such welcoming hosts with so many lovely little touches. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer, a few days wasn't enough!
- Katarzyna (9/5): Unique stay on an amazing property. If you just want to relax for a few days stay here. - Truly a unique and beautiful property. After being on dusty roads, it feels like walking into an oasis of cleanliness and calm. Friendly hosts and the breakfast they prepared was amazing and filling. Many options were available, including eggs, fresh fruit and an awesome fresh juice.
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional - Staying at Xochitl was one of the top highlights of my one month trip to La Paz, Baja del Sur. Their saying, "Estas en tu casa" summed up my stay. Winn and Dan felt like family over the time they graciously shared their Centenario oasis. My stay was longer than most because I knew as a 76 year old country gal, the first half of my stay near the Malecon would wear me out. Xochitl provided exactly what I had hoped for. Great breakfasts, interesting location at the edge of Centenario village, opportunity to ride the bus with locals, sampling of some excellent food at nearby restaurants, long, long beachwalks where I got to see how Mexican families enjoy Sundays at the beach. Mornings waking to thousands of bird songs, dogs barking, roosters crowing near and far, the rooftop patio view as the sun rose, two good cups of coffee, their dogs and cat greeting me everyday truly made this stay feel like home. Winn and Dan were the kind of hosts one wants when vacationing. Helpful, kind, attentive yet leave you in peace to spend the day in the hammock or whatever. Winn and Dan hold a fond place in my memory! Would not change a thing!
- Jorge (10/5): Wonderful - It was excellent everything¡ The place is so cozy and beautiful.. we are going to visit it again Everything was perfect¡ No complains at all. It was an excellent place. Just the fee that booking.com charge is excesive. So the complain is for (due to) booking.com
- Michaela (10/5): just perfect😍 - we stayed 2 nights at Casa Xochitl, it was lovely... we got an upgrade to our room which was gorgeous, Wynn and Dan are very nice, they prepared breakfast for us and we could sit on the veranda upstairs in the evenings which has a great view... thanks for having us, we enjoyed it at lot... would love to come back!
- Eruption (10/5): Lovely, romantic place to enjoy. Totally recommended. - Lovely place, the hosts made us feel totally welcome. The room has many interesting touches. A great breakfast welcomed us each morning.
- Micaela (10/5): Exceptional - The Delicious and abundant breakfast, very comfortable bed and pillows, convenient and quiet location close to La Paz and the beaches, the Mexican style property, the dogs, very friendly and helpful hosts. We were spoiled with breakfast, so the only down side is very poor breakfast on Sunday, but fair enough for the hosts, who needs to rest!
- Axel (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was more than great, the garden gorgeous and peaceful, and everything was clean and quiet.
