Guest Reviews
- salliebp (10/5): THE FANTASTIC BELLAFONTE!!! - We just returned from an extraordinary stay at the Bellafonte Hotel in Bonaire. To say that it was a perfect spot for us is an understatement. From the location to the stylishness to the staff to the on-site snorkeling, etc., etc., it was impeccable start to finish.
The hotel is a small, lovely boutique hotel with only 22 units and sits directly on the water. It has a private pier which had better and easier snorkeling than any of the other locations we visited. There is nothing quite like waking up to a gorgeous sunrise, sipping coffee while watching the seagulls soar from our private balcony, and then going out to the private pier and taking a morning snorkel. The reef by the hotel has a greater variety of fish than any other place we found, and the convenience cannot be described!
Every single member of the staff was totally impressive. They are all young, charming, enthusiastic and delightful in every way. All are from the Netherlands with the exception of the delightfully energetic and thoroughly adorable Armanda, who is from Bonaire.
The location of the hotel is absolutely unbeatable. It is far enough away from town to escape the noise, hustle bustle, and cruise ship crowd, but close enough to go in anytime (about a 5-10 minute drive) for excellent dining and shopping. Though the Bellafonte does not have a restaurant on site, they partner with the excellent Windsock Restaurant right next door, and there are other wonderful restaurants very close by.
This post cannot adequately capture the stunning magic of the Bellafonte. It is a total delight in every single way, and when we sadly checked out, we made a reservation for the same dates next year. It truly is paradise on earth!
- wimvF4695PB (10/5): What a gem! - I keep coming back to The Bellafonte. It's a breath taking place, superb location. The concept is quite unique: stay in fully equipped apartments with service level of a boutique luxury hotel. Carlijn and her staff go the extra mile to make each stay memorable. Snorkel or dive straight from the private pier! See you next year!
- maryjod826 (10/5): Beautiful resort! - The unit was wonderful. Very spacious with a well stocked kitchen. Nice living room and the bed was very comfortable. It had a gray view of the water. We enjoyed snorkeling off the dock and relaxing by the small pool. Also liked the small porch with table and fans. The place to wash your gear was great along with rack to drip dry. Actually liked being on the ground floor. The resort is very quiet. They provided a snack by the dock in the afternoon and had a happy hour one evening. Would like them to add a rack in the shower for razor, shampoo etc. Also sometimes it was difficult to get out of the resort and to park. Overall excellent experience!
- sandrabO58AU (10/5): Great experience! Luxury, ocean access and great service. - Our stay at the Bellafonte was exceptional. The staff was so welcoming and helpful, anticipating our every need. Armanda in particular was a super star. The room was a great combination of functional with everything you need to prepare meals and luxury with a dreamy bed and great views. The bustling tourist area is a short drive and getting to the airport takes minutes. The absolute best part is the beautiful dock for sunbathing, relaxing and jumping into the ocean to cool off or snorkel. We will most definitely be back!
- lindasQ1465CY (10/5): We love to snorkel and Bonaire is perfect for a snorkel trip. And staying at Belafonte is the icing on the cake! - We love Bellefonte! The staff are always so friendly and helpful and professional. It's absolutely beautiful. We have stayed here many times and we will continue to come here. We love Belafonte! We love Bellefonte. They even have a happy hour where the guests can mingle and enjoy wine and soft drinks.
- johnmY2312ZD (10/5): Love the Bellafonte!!! - Fabulous place. Clean, well staffed, friendly service, on the water with a private dock, great happy hour. Arranges taxis, dinner reservations,...
We've been there twice and plan on returning...
- mariabN402JU (10/5): Paradise - Belafonte was a beautiful spot for all of our needs. Highly recommended.
- lilianam812 (10/5): The place has it all! Service, views, good snorkel area with private access. - The service is great and the stunning views make you comeback. We love it.
The Belafonte is a gem in the island. Five stars.
- Quest174058 (10/5): The Dushi Life - Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the front desk girl. She was extremely polite and very helpful and made us feel quite comfortable.
She explained everything to us about the venue and escorted us to our room.
She gave us helpful tips on where to go and some of the best restaurants to visit.
The room was beyond our expectations and we were very impressed and pleased with the location.
The hotel is definitely worth it and we will definitely be coming back in the future.
Staff and cleanliness was beyond 5 stars.
I highly recommend it and you will not be disappointed 🌊🧜🏻♀️🪸
- jlwinn31 (10/5): 100% recommend - From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. This boutique waterfront hotel is immaculate, with beautiful views that never got old. The staff were genuinely attentive and made us feel truly cared for throughout our stay. The pier offers the ability to SCUBA, snorkel, sun yourself or have great conversations with other travels who seem to love the place as much as we did.
Cant wait to return!
- Taru Kristiina (9/5): - Paikka oli siisti ja palvelu todella hyvää Pieniä puutteita huoneessa ja varustuksessa
- Stijn (8/5): -
- Tourist46610676549 (10/5): Amazing! - AMAZING staff & unit !
Beautiful snorkeling!
Friendly guests.
Relaxing quiet & beautiful
Going back for my 5th tme next year !
- LoveTravel252343 (10/5): Spectacular! - A completely wonderful experience, and my second time visiting. I cannot wait to return again! Very peaceful - truly a quiet oasis!
- KarenW59 (10/5): The best hotel on the island - We had the most wonderful experience at the Bellafonte in Bonaire. The amenities are fantastic and the dock is incredible. The reef directly from the dock is great for snorkeling or diving and the location of the Bellafonte in relation to stores, restaurants, etc. is perfect! There is a weekly happy hour on Thursdays and they serve food, wine and/or beer. The front desk will help with restaurant reservations, getting taxis or even picking up your groceries. If you sit on the dock during the day, most likely you will be served appetizers. The condo we stayed in was immaculate. It included all kitchen gadgets if you decide to stay in an cook a meal. Highly, highly recommend this hotel.
- M9327OGkatyk (8/5): Best bonaire hotel experience so far! - Best Bonaire hotel experience so far! Outstanding and friendly staff with first class service. Hospitality of the highest standard, rarely surpassed. Exquisit Rooms and superb cleaning crew!!!
Only minus point, therefore 4 instead of straight 5 ⭐️:
The noise from the construction site next door could have been communicated more effectively to guests in the corporate communications. We were seeking quiet and relaxing days at the pier as well as in our accommodation, that, unfortunately, was not fulfilled…
- jeffcB4476HX (10/5): Great time at the Bellafonte - We had a wonderful time. Staff were great and very attentive to our needs. We will definitely be back. Did a lot of snorkeling and loved it.
- MIchal (10/5): -
- nacCary_nc (10/5): Paradise - My husband and I stayed 2 weeks in Room 205, a 1 BR Senior Suite. It is on the south end of the seocnd floor, so the breeze refreshes the balcony as you enjoy your breakfast looking out over the turquoise water.
We especially liked:
- easy access to snorkel on the reef, where we saw sea turtles, eels (including a very large green moray), lots of fish and corals and sponges
- outdoor shower, locked room for snorkeling equpment, and drying rack for swiming clothes
- well-equiped kitchen
- very tasty food delivered to the room by Bellafonte staff from the restaurant next door (in case you do not want to cook that day)
- easy and close parking
- well-functioning AC and hot water systems
- daily housecleaning (everything was spotless)
- comfortable beds, black-out curtains, quiet area for sleeping
- very nice staff (who even found softer pillows for me)
-
It was difficult to leave. I already miss the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.
- joemC1784XJ (10/5): Wowowowowow, this place is the best. Much satisfaction, staff blew our mind, Bonaire is the place to be! - Resubmission so I could get the order of pictures right lol.
I can't express to you how great of an experience my partner and I had at the Bellafonte in early November 2025. Between the incredible hotel room and the truly awesome staff, they made our trip so enjoyable and experience with memories we will have for a life time. The staff: Pien, Pien, Lucas, Eva, Reuben, and Stephen were so helpful to the point that I was embarrassed by the level of service. Need to be picked up from the airport? No problem. Need a rental car? They will set it up for you, just stop by the front desk for a set of keys. Trying to dive? Here, we'll connect you with (the also excellent) VIP diving. They would do absolutely anything in their power to help us. I cannot speak more highly of them. We will do our best to remain in touch with them as friends/people because they were all so kind and I truly want their lives to have moments like ours at the hotel. A very special shout out to Pien for recommending a dive where we ended up swimming with turtles for about 30 minutes at the end of the dive! (Salt pier in the morning around 730/8. If you don't dive, you can still hang with them with a snorkel mask and fins.)
We stayed in a senior suite in room 301. Someone else recommended that room explicitly here on trip advisor so I requested it. It was a good tip. It's a corner room on the third floor with great views of all of the western side of Bonaire, Klein Bonaire, and the ocean/dock right out back. If you're reading this far past November 2025, one thing I'd note is that they have some beautiful trees outside of the room that have yet to obscure the view of the ocean, but if they continue to grow, the foliage may limit the views of the ocean directly outside of the room, so heed this warning and don't say I didn't warn you! Pic of view with said trees below) You will still be able to see the ocean and coast of Bonaire even if the front view was blocked.
Also - this was mildly annoying but not the fault of the hotel - there's construction going on next door with drilling/hammering starting between 7/730 everyday. It honestly wasn't THAT bad, but we were concerned at first that we would be hearing construction at the hotel all day everyday. However, given how much we were out of the hotel during the day, it ended up not being an issue. It was intermittent and all of it stopped before sunset and it wasn't specific to this room. I walked around the property it and you could hear the construction everywhere equally. Again, wasn't a deal breaker as it wasn't terrible. Also, being close to the airport meant you could hear the planes take off. That just sounded like someone was vacuuming in another room for a few minutes, so again, not that bad. There were not a ton of flights in/out of Bonaire, so it was saul good, man.
If you can afford it, spring for the Senior! The view of the ocean was incredible. The amenities/kitchen/room had everything we needed to cook all (well, most) of our meals during our stay. That gave us the freedom to spend that extra money on diving.
There is also a private "pier" at the hotel (pic below) with lounge chairs where you can lay down (some are covered with shade) and then jump into the crystal clear perfect water to cool off. Fish swim around it all day (look under the dock for schools of fish) and look out for the large tarpon at night! You can snorkel or dive up and down the coast as the reef is right by the shore as well (this is a feature of all of Bonaire , but it was still cool to have access from our hotel). I was told that one person who went in the morning around 6 AM that they saw a turtle and reef shark somewhere out there. I did not, but hey, passing this sighting along. They work with VIP diving and have air onsite - so no need to go anywhere to get it. There's a closet for hanging dive gear. And, there's a mini infiniti pool for dipping into when you don't feel like getting salty.
The Bellafonte is centrally located so that all dive sites on the west side (best for beginners) are accessible within 15-20 minutes of driving. You're far enough away from town that when a cruise ship comes in, you only have to deal with a handful of annoying tourists throughout the day.
If you're there on Friday to Sunday, MAKE SURE to go get the smoked ribs nearby at "Holy Smoke" Bonaire. (pic below) I think they are open from 4-7 PM only on those days. I THINK. Double check. But, it's just a dutch dude who sits outside his home smoking meats (ribs and turkey legs) all day drinking, then sells em with fries and some sauces. 25 bucks a plate. I recommend trying the peanut butter sauce for the fries because, well, WTF man, we don't get things like that in the states. But honestly, the ribs stand up to the best Kansas City BBQ. If you bring a cute woman with you (my wife is pretty hot) you'll probably get a bigger portion for her. I say this because I can't figure out why she got 1.5x the ribs in her meal than I did and it's the only thing I can think of that made the difference. (Excuse my male patriarchy thinking, please, I say this in jest, but it was true she got way more than me.) It's just a 10 minute walk down the road from the Bellafonte.
We also went to Restaraunt Flora, a two minute walk up the street. All I can say about that place is WOW. It's high end dining at a third of the cost of a Michelin starred restaurant in NYC. The meal blew me away and I was not expecting it at all. This was our last night splurge meal, but for two people, four drinks total, five course tasting menu for me, four course for the lady, plus a starter, it was $310 with tip. I sh*t you not, this would have been an $900 meal in NY. I don't know if that says more about Manhattan or Bonaire, but coming from one of the most expensive cities in the country made Bonaire seem relatively affordable. I would also check this out if you can. Dinner with the tasting menu took two-ish hours, so get an early booking at 6 PM because you'll be there for awhile. I'm sure it could have lasted longer if we wanted it to as they are the Dutch, you know?
Lastly, and you'll get this recommendation from everyone anyway, go have a drink or dinner at Karel's in town for sunset. Hopefully you see the green flash! (google it.) We didn't at Karel's but did the next night. Happened just once for us, but was cool anyway.
Another tip - rent a truck regardless as to whether or not you're diving! There's a lot of off roading to be had, so having a big car makes it great. Also: filling up the gas take as the last step before returning the car is usually a b*ll buster with US prices. But there? Diesel (most trucks) was 98 cents a gallon and unleaded was $1.22. So filling up 30 gallons cost 30 bucks. I was transported back to 1992, which was the last time I remember gas being under a buck 25 a gallon.
We had a wonderful trip. And it was the entire experience that made it so great. But at the center of it all was the wonderful staff at the Bellafonte and the accommodations. I admit, that we could likely have a great experience elsewhere, but given we had an out-of-this-world time there, why mess with the formula? We will be back and when we do, we will 100% be staying there again. Thank you so much for making our trip so special!
- R347EFdonnal (10/5): 1st Visit, But Not the Last! - This was our 1st trip to The Bellafonte and we loved it so much we've already booked our return for next year!
The staff, from GM (Carljin), to front office (Stephan, Pien, Ruben, Lucas, and Pien), to Housekeeping (Nina) were attentive, responsive, friendly, and accommodating. The Weekly Happy Hour is a great way to meet fellow guests and staff members. We were treated to a swim-by by a pod of dolphins right off the dock that was just incredible.
The facilities are very well maintained. Our 1st floor room featured a private garden-like area adjacent to the pool.
We are counting the days until our return!
- M2776TSjuliag (10/5): Quiet elegance - We are regular annual visitors to Bonaire. We could no longer stay at the house we normally rent so decided to stay at Bellafonte and have a look for another rental. We didn't bother to look further! The staff at Bellafonte are excellent and we really enjoyed the diving from the house dock. (Large green moray, large lobster, midnight blue parrot fish.) We even had a dolphin display during manager's hour; sparkling wine and dolphins in a beautiful resort! Thanks to all the staff and especially Delia our housekeeper. See you next year.
- Sue884 (10/5): Only the best will do and this is it by far!!!! - Our 16th time here. Always the best there is. We have stayed at other popular resorts but none compare. The pier is the BEST. Great to just jump in to dive or snorkel. The suites are like being at home. Full kitchen, upgraded bathrooms, and comfortable living space. Your own balcony spacious with dining capabilities and lounge chairs in some. The oceanfront cannot be beat. Cannot recommend any other resort and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else on our favorite Island.
- mayacE5960IH (10/5): Perfect stay at bellafonte - ocean view - Bellafonte is the ideal place to stay. I was staying with my 16 yr old daughter in a 2 person bedroom with salon. Ocean views were truly amazing. The pier into the water is definitely a unique selling point of the venue. From the pier you dive into an incredible snorkelling world. The rooms and staff have been amazing. Carlijn Vehoef, the general manager had made us feel extra at home with her forthcoming character and studio for late check out on our last day. I would highly recommend Bellafonte as a place to stay! Perfect location on island. Very responsive reception. The pier is unique. The rooms are just what you need. 10 out of a 10.
- Kreative-Thinking (10/5): Exceeded expectations on our first Bonaire visit - Everything about our week at the Bellafonte was exceptional! The rooms were spacious, well equipped, comfortable and immaculately cleaned every day. Plenty of air conditioning, hot water, kitchen amenities and towels. The front staff was always helpful, professional and friendly. Loved the easy dock access for snorkeling and comfortable, shaded outdoor lounges. We appreciated their prompt arrangements for a rental car and airport transfers.
- jenniferlO401AJ (10/5): Mother Daughter Vacation - This was our first visit to Bonaire and the accommodations at the Bellafonte made our visit perfect!! We will definitely be returning, and staying at the Bellafonte again. The views from the ocean side rooms is amazing, the room was spacious and very clean. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They were happy to provide recommendations to their favorite activities, and answer all my questions. We were walking distance from one of my favorite beaches. The dive lockers were also very convenient.
- cheryllynnl2015 (10/5): Absolutely perfect, can’t wait to return! - This was our second stay at the Bellafonte (4th time to Bonaire) and it just keeps getting better! The location is ideal, the views stunning and the condo style room has everything you need!! The deck is huge and you can snorkel or dive from the resort. It’s honestly perfect, so clean, we couldn’t have asked for more. We love the staff, they really do want to make sure you are enjoying your stay. They truly go above and beyond! Especially Daan & Pien (the brunette, there are 2 of them lol). We’re already planning our trip for next year!
- 321samantham (10/5): 10/10. Amazing location, service, and nice accommodations - We stayed at the Bellafonte for four nights in September and holy goodness was it spectacular. The front desk was extremely friendly, great recommendations and so helpful. The rooms were well equipped, and in great shape with a spectacular view of the ocean. The pier was lovely and a great place to hang out. Snorkeling and diving straight from the hotel was amazing and easy. Overall, a wonderful experience and highly recommend.
- Tanja (10/5): - everything was excellent, the staff was extremely friendly, the suite was superbly equipped, the view was unforgettable.
We will definitely be back
- lanceg568 (10/5): Beautiful Bellafonte on Bonaire - We have been to Bonaire many times and have always stayed at some pretty bare bones accommodations. We always had a great time but we decided to add a little extra to this trip and the Bellafonte was worth every penny. Just the right place for us with a modern well appointed condo that exceeded all our requirements. Stephan and his excellent staff were always on hand to address any need. The addition of a weekly happy hour every Thursday made it easy to get to know the other guests.
But...... Bonaire is about diving and the house reef was excellent. Unexpectedly, on our last dive of a 12 day trip we had the most intimate Spotted Eagle Ray encounter of our lives. A truly memorable ending to a fabulous trip.
- M4698DHstevenm (10/5): A gem of a hotel in an oasis of an island - We stayed here for 2 nights in early September in a Studio room. Everything was perfect from the moment we booked. The welcome email ahead of our arrival meant we could book our airport transfer (5 minute journey) and also our rental pickup so we could explore the island.
The staff are amazing, welcome drink on arrival and tour of the facilities and our room to ensure everything was as we expected. The staff are amazing, extremely courteous and ensure you have everything you need.
The jetty and sun loungers are unbelievable with marine fish swimming around us and steps to go down and snorkel in the coral reef below.
Food is served in the beach restaurant next door and is very reasonably priced and good quality.
As a base to explore this fantastic island you cannot go wrong at the Bellafonte!
- Dorde (8/5): -
- dcrossfromtx (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful stay! We will be back! - We loved our stay at the Bellafonte and will be back! We stayed in a bedroom suite on the second floor. Each morning, we enjoyed our Nespresso on the balcony. The oceanfront view was so relaxing!
The staff is invaluable. They arranged a rental car for us and made sure we had a few years' notice before our arrival.
I highly recommend the in-room massage. The drop tissue was one of the best massages I've ever had.
We look forward to another trip!
- Alan (10/5): - Very accommodating
- B5134MKamyk (10/5): Can we PLEASE go back to Bellafonte again? - This is our fourth time returning to Bellafonte. We love the rooms, the view and the helpful staff. The dock onsite is a relaxing place for beginners to snorkel and see a variety of fish. The dive locker is convenient storage for SCUBA divers.
- Stay712695 (8/5): Good - Overall good. They should consider getting a vending machine with drinks and snacks. The staff was great very polite and helpful.
- Traveler23892363155 (10/5): Beachfront peace - Amazing beachfront location good restaurants in the area super peaceful would highly recommend thinking of staying for a week or month on next trip
- thefosterfarm (10/5): Lovely property and staff! - We booked a 3 night stay prior to family arriving and moving to a house. The property was very beautiful, the staff super welcoming and helpful. Shout out to Shirley who helped us navigate the appliances we could not figure out! Thank you! The furnishings are lovely and the view is knock dead gorgeous. Also, the cleanliness of the property was striking, as well as the amenities and dock. Located very close to many things, it was a relaxing and wonderful few days. Thank you all again for making it so special and being so incredibly helpful. Will come visit again!
- April (10/5): - Oceanfront property
- jadelynv2025 (10/5): Luxury experience at The Belafonte - Our stay at The Belafonte was PERFECT. It truly was a luxury experience. It was always a relaxing experience with peace and quiet at every corner. The private dock that we have access to is gorgeous with access to the crystal clear water. The service was phenomenal. The rooms were gorgeous clean and spacious. 5/5 i would recommend to anyone staying in Bonaire looking for a relaxing experience.
- aliciamZ3160NY (10/5): Fantastic hotel and area - Fantastic hotel and staff. Gave ideas for dinner and we went to town for breakfast and tried Between the Buns which was delicious and both restaurants next to the hotel which are good. Went on a kayaking and snorkeling adventure as well. There are a variety of restaurants in town: Mexican, Mediterranean, seafood of course. Great place to relax but also to dive and snorkel! Will be back!!
- runbakke (10/5): Top Service - The Bellafonte – Top Service and Stunning Oceanfront Stay
I had an amazing experience at The Bellafonte. The service was truly exceptional – I got early check-in and was even allowed to keep my room until my 9 PM flight to Amsterdam, which was incredibly helpful.
The hotel is beautifully located right by the sea with easy access to snorkeling and diving. Rooms are clean, stylish, and fully equipped. Staff were young, professional, and very friendly.
Fun fact: the Dutch royal family stayed here during their visit to Bonaire!
Highly recommended – one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
- OnAir182413 (10/5): The Best! - Absolutely the best of Bonaire. This is our 5th time staying there. Suites have on the water view. Rooms exceptionally clean and cleaned everyday. Well appointed. Air conditioned. Staff and management the best. Will stay there again for a 6th time.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Very welcoming and caring staff. Great location. Had a wonderful stay!
- Holly Ann (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay on the ocean. The staff was very helpful and pleasant and went out of their way to accommodate us.
- G9304BEheathers (10/5): Amazing Family Vacation! First time to Bonaire. - Today is our last day after a spectacular week in Bonaire! Our first trip to the island and we are so very glad that we chose the Bellafonte for our stay! The grand suite is beautiful perfect for our family (13 year old twins - the staff separated the kind bed in the second room) the location is perfect and the views are incredible. We love the pier and the twins even saw an octopus and turtles while snorkeling the house reef. The Thursday night happy hour was great - we met lots of lovely other guests from around the world. The staff is incredible- answered my million questions before we came (even helped with the rental car) and during our stay - helped with many dinner reservations! We will absolutely be back to Bonaire and will be staying here again! 5+++ stars for sure! We just loved it here!!
- S1101JYjimd (10/5): Amazing stay in Bonaire - My family and I stayed in the Grand and Senior Suites at the Bellafonte for a week. Staff were amazing and were very welcoming, they were attentive to all of us during the week. The staff helped book dives, sunset dinner cruise, and a fishing trip for my family. Great snorkeling around the dock and loved the views from our rooms. We would stay here again when we next come back to Bonaire. Shout out to Laure, Stephan, Myrthe, Veerle, Mara, and the rest of the Bellafonte staff for helping make our stay memorable.
- ThomasE1361 (10/5): Would definitely stay here again! - The stay was excellent. Rooms were spacious and clean. Easy entry into the ocean with snorkeling available just off the pier. Convenient to other snorkeling sites, Donkey, Te Amo, and Bachelors are walkable. Quick 10 min to ‘downtown’. Parking on site. Has a dive/snorkel locker for storing gear to keep rooms from getting sandy. Room had a great view of the ocean. Very peaceful mornings on the balcony drinking coffee from the coffee machine. As an FYI, the pool is super small, BUT the calm ocean is about 15 steps (literally) further - so easy. There is a nice restaurant next door.
- javierrX8891AI (10/5): Beautiful Ocean Front - Bellafonte is a beautiful very clean, friendly staff, boutique hotel. The views from the dock and swimming are pretty amazing. The restaurant next door is very nice, with great vibes and great food and the views.
- Monique (2/5): - The resort was great . Expedia booked the wrong room . And they charged me for a suite . Which they didn’t reserve . Can’t call them either from here . Resort was great . People great . Expedia sucks
- C2263EFsusant (2/5): Horrific!!!! - We had a studio room. We live simply but when we go to a Caribbean hotel with a great rating we certainly expected a certain amount of excellence. We did not get that, sadly. Our room was a complete disaster. Room 106. It had the worst ambience!!!
- azizawahby (10/5): Gorgeous views, immaculate and quiet - You never know if the pictures online are representative of the actual hotel. This hotel is quiet, very clean, perfectly located and surpassed expectations. Dive lockers are available for all of your gear and you can grab full tanks any time you want. Bonaire is such a special place. The entire experience was amazing and we will absolutely be back. And we will stay at the Bellafonte again, no question.
- Melanie (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much. Next door is a great beach bar and the town is only 10 minutes by car.
- Go00654934198 (10/5): Highly recommend the Bellafonte - We loved our stay, the property is lovely and very well maintained. The front desk folks were always there, always pleasant and provided great recommendations. We can't wait to come back!
- amberc213 (10/5): Great island getaway - We love the Bellafonte and are regular visitors. It is a great place to stay if you are diving on the island. The location, rooms, and views are fabulous. The relationship with VIP diving is fantastic. We had a couple of snafus this trip but the team was responsive and took care of us.
- dssconstruction (10/5): Strike gold at the Bellafonte in Bonaire! - Like the person that discovered gold in California, I am selfishly reluctant to share how wonderful the Bellafonte treats its guests as I don’t want it to get too overrun! The facilities are extremely well maintained, the location is convenient, and the staff are not only professional but always going out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. We have been coming to the Bellafonte for 20 years and hopefully will continue to be guests there. Oh, and by the way the diving is world class and convenient right off the house pier!!
- Chris (10/5): - Very clean and beautiful location. The staff couldn’t be nicer!
- Hunt (10/5): special trip for a family that exceeded expectations Woukd definitely stay here again - We stayed in an ocean front two bedroom suite and were blown away at the view. Lovely patio outside and seating inside all with expansive view of the beautiful ocean. Quiet, clean, with lots of space and overall unbelievable experience Wished we would have stayed longer. We didn't want to leave
- Vladimir (10/5): - Great location, friendly and helpful staff, excellent snorkeling
- Isakich (10/5): Great place to stay - Nice modern hotel on the beach minutes from the airport. (But no trouble with planes noise). You can snorkel/dive right from their pier. We did. Clean comfortable rooms. Super helpful staff. Unlimited supply of espresso capsules for your in-the-room espresso machine. What else to desire.
- Joanna (10/5): Amazing stay! - Amazing Stay – Highly Recommended!
I recently stayed at this hotel and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The check-in process was fast and smooth, and I immediately felt comfortable and cared for.
The rooms were spotless, modern, and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and equipped with everything I needed. I especially appreciated the attention to small details like complimentary toiletries by Rituals, a coffee station and a modern, well-stocked kitchen. What truly made the stay exceptional, though, was the atmosphere and the level of service. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure guests were happy. I felt truly valued and relaxed throughout my visit.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a memorable stay. I will definitely come back!
- marycK8942SZ (10/5): A Home Run in Bonaire - Everything was excellent! As a woman traveling solo, feeling safe was extremely important to me, and I did, at all times. My Jr suite (apartment, really!) was spacious, well appointed, very tastefully decorated, and clean. The view from my balcony was amazing, looking out over the crystal clear turquoise water in the mornings and afternoons, and then the breathtaking sunsets at night. The front office staff couldn't possibly have been more helpful, making my rental car reservations and having the car there waiting for me when I arrived, making dive arrangements with VIP Diving (another home run in Bonaire imo), helping with directions and points of intetest,a and in addition, just being overall lovely people. The management should be proud of their staff..truly 1st class. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the guest room attendants..room immaculate and towels fresh.. but you never saw them! The Bellafonte is close to the airport, maximizing every minute of my vacation. I'm planning on coming back soon, hopefully late November. I can't wait to stay with them again.
- karolinas957 (10/5): Never disappoints and always delivers. - This was our third stay at the Bellafonte. This boutique hotel is clean, quiet, has friendly staff that goes an extra mile and of course phenomenal location. Your accommodations are luxurious yet comfortable. Rooms have everything you need and if something is amiss the front desk will ensure that is corrected. Housekeeping is fantastic! This time we stayed with our 15month old and the hotel arranged a crib and a high chair upon request. We come back every time because you get what you pay for.
- 377gordond (10/5): Blue therapy - The Bellafonte Bonaire staff were delightful, responsive to our requests, and top level professional. We felt well-cared for.
The location of The Bellafonte is wonderful, not too close to town and cruise ship activity, but close to the sandy beach of Te Amo, and an eight-minute drive to Lac Bay with windsurfing and restaurants.
We enjoyed a mid-week happy hour on the pool deck, we appreciated being able to rent a car (123 Rentals) through the hotel which meant no standing in lines at the airport, and we loved having afternoon treats delivered by staff to us on the sun deck. What a nice surprise!
The view from our second floor room was stunning and we definitely got our fill of Caribbean blue therapy.
We stayed in a Junior Suite, which is similar to a hotel suite with a separate bedroom, living room, and kitchenette with stove, oven, basic dishes and silverware, refrigerator, blender and toaster, and a narrow balcony. We didn’t do any cooking. Our favorite kitchen item was the Nespresso machine with unlimited pods! :)
We’ll be back!
- 958scottv (10/5): Best Resort on Bonaire - Our first time to Bonaire. We have been to Aruba and Curacao previously which we loved and this was even better. An absolutely wonderful experience. The accommodations are stellar. The swim and sundeck is fabulous and the staff is second to none. Will definitely be coming back.
- David (10/5): - Staff was amazing and the property was clean and beautiful .
- susanjs2015 (10/5): Beautiful classy hotel/ apartment for a snorkeling getaway - We booked 10 nights at this beautiful complex. We were on the second floor with a view of the ocean from our deck balcony. Our lodging included a full kitchen, living room, dining area, beautiful bedroom and bathroom. I was not expecting such luxury. The grounds are well maintained and thoroughly cleaned daily. There is a small dipping pool near the dock which has at least a dozen chaise lounges. The dock area has a safe ladder for entering the water to snorkel. The snorkeling under the dock is very nice. The staff couldn’t have been more outstanding. Everyone was professional and helpful. They provided afternoon snacks on the dock and a weekly get together with drinks and appetizers. Our favorite snorkeling spot was 1000 steps. We did go to Klein Bonaire but it was raining and the sea life was just so so that day. We also did the National Park area 2 days. It was a lot of driving for just average snorkeling, although, years ago the sea life was spectacular in that area. The donkey sanctuary was delightful, I highly recommend seeing it. We travel a great deal worldwide. This accommodation is by far on our top 5 list of a classy vacation home. We will definitely return and we will encourage others to stay here.
- Lee (10/5): Trip of Life timr - It was amazing wonderful staff beautiful room just really amazing porpero
- sedated (10/5): A fabulous birthday week! - While this was our first time in Bonaire, the staff of the Bellafonte will be what brings us back again. Every team member with which we engaged was genuinely kind, knowledgeable and eager to help. The level of professionalism and enthusiasm in such a youthful staff was refreshing. From preparatory emails to last minute changes while on the island, the staff never disappointed.
As for the property, it is very well maintained with the best lounging deck over turquoise water in the area! The fish under that deck are a treat!
The rooms are spotless, and do book a suite if possible, you won't regret it.
Just a note, there is no gym or restaurant on the property. There are great dining options nearby and a rental vehicle can be handy.
- dianaluky2025 (10/5): Obsessed with the seaside and sunset view Bellafonte offers - Seaside with one of the best docks on the island, and clean stairs that lead down to the water for amazing and vibrant sea life snorkeling in between dives. They also come by with some snacks if you’re enjoying a tan on the dock. Also fully took in the beautiful sunset view every day we were here. Makes you so grateful and even more protective of the conservation efforts of sea life at Bonaire. I am obsessed with the Bellafonte dock and wish I could keep enjoying it. 🥹 Staff are friendly and agile, when we had an AC humidity troubleshooting. Such a gem at Bellafonte and would love to be back again soon ✨
- Stephen (10/5): - We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Bellafonte in Bonaire and couldn't be more pleased with our experience.
The location was perfect for exploring the island while still providing a peaceful retreat. What truly made each day special was the ocean view, particularly the beautiful sunset each evening.
The facilities and room were well-maintained and provided all the comforts needed for a pleasant stay. The oceanfront setting created a constant backdrop of waves and sea breezes.
Bellafonte offers that perfect combination of serenity, security, and natural beauty that makes for a memorable vacation. The location provides convenience without sacrificing privacy, and those sunset views alone are worth the trip.
- mnikolayew (10/5): Can’t wait to go back! - From the initial booking, the lead up to our trip, and during our trip, The Bellafonte staff exceeded my expectations in every possible way. The suite was spacious and comfortable, and the stunning private pier drew us in each morning, afternoon, and night. We reserved the snack package as well as the wine package upon arrival. The selection of wine was impressive and very tasty, catered to our general love of dry wines. Our last night we reserved the pier for a private dinner with Chef Manouk. I cannot express enough how incredible the food and wine pairing was that Manouk curated. I am also very confused how she is not booked each night of the week given her elite talents in the kitchen. Hearing her story and enjoying a glass of wine together at the end of the night was an added bonus.
I can’t imagine staying anywhere other the Bellafonte for when we return next to Bonaire. I highly recommend an ocean facing room…the view does not get old.
- Todd (8/5): Excellent - highly recommend - Loved the location!! Loved the snorkeling right in the backyard! Lots of stairs to climb to our room
- Odyssey61855768336 (10/5): Definitely will stay here again!! - This was our first trip to Bonaire and we loved staying at the Bellafonte. Prior to our arrival they offered restaurant recommendations, made dinner reservations for us and helped us to coordinate our diving trips. Our room was spacious, extremely clean and had everything we needed. The front desk staff were very helpful and always available. The dock in the back was a perfect way to relax after diving and to do a little snorkeling. We would highly recommend staying here!
- milanl810 (6/5): More considerate - The Senior Suite at The Bellafonte is acceptable in terms of space and comfort. However, my stay was seriously affected by daily, unbearable noise from construction work with jackhammers — right next to the hotel — without any prior notice or apology from the management. For a stay that cost nearly €10,000, this level of disturbance and lack of communication is simply unacceptable. It is not what one expects from a property in this
- jmD3984CB (10/5): wonderful stay - My husband and I would definitely return to the Bellafonte. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The views from our room were amazing. We enjoyed our time and it was easy to access the ocean. The hotel is close to the airport and parking was convenient if you rent a car.
- Seryi (9/5): Superb -
- ALTCTtravler (10/5): Wonderful stay - We had a wonderful week. We are snorkelers no divers and enjoyed the snorkeling right off the dock. Wonderful sunsets each night.
We cooked many meals just to enjoy the view. Kitchen is well stocked and had a dishwasher.
We would definitely book here again.
- T5927HRmichaelap (10/5): Traumurlaub - Our stay was lovely here!!!! We enjoyed the water and the hotel! Especially thanks to the wonderful team here!!!! You are all doing a wonderful job and you made our stay perfect! You have joy in your hearts!!! It is sad that we have to leave today but we will come back! Thanks from Michaela and Peter
- Cassandra (10/5): - Easy access to/from airport. Lovely dock with sunset views and great snorkeling and plunge pool. We used the dining decos list to book 4 awesome dinners and there’s a restaurant and bar next door. Room was clean and well equipped with a small balcony. Staff were very hospitable and there when you needed something.
- kavanaughs2018 (10/5): Delightful - The Bellafonte was a perfect place for rest. Our trip to Bonaire proved to be quite active and our room gave us exactly what we needed. We particularly appreciated the beach towels provided. (We wished they were souvenirs!) The outdoor amenities were charming, although we were unable to find the time to enjoy them.
Our one grievance were the pillows. However attractive on the bed, they were hard and uncomfortable. Thankfully we brought our own pillows from home.
All in all it was a very pleasant experience. We would certainly recommend The Bellafonte.
- cxs61812 (10/5): Wonderful trip to Bonaire, BELLAFONTE was an amazing place to stay! - Wonderful location, staff, condo and especially snorkeling and lounge chairs. We had a wonderful time. If we needed anything the office team was ready, kind, and helpful. Room was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was awesome to have.
- D7967MNjeremyr (10/5): Best of Bonaire - We have visited Bonaire several times and always choose the Bellafonte for our home away from home. We have stayed in the Junior suite, Senior Suite, and Grand Suite. We hope to book to the Penthouse on our next trip! The location is unmatched, the service is always 5-star, all the rooms are modern yet tasteful, and the private pier boasts amazing views surrounded by a pristine coral reef housing diverse sea life—conveniently located at your back door! We have seen octopus, tarpon, a massive variety of fish species, tube corals, and even swam with a sea turtle for 20 minutes just off the dock! The attentive well-trained staff are ever-present for any need no matter how large or small. We look forward to returning soon!
- Randy (10/5): One of the most memorable and relaxing vacations my wife and I ever had. We will definitely be back! - The staff was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable
- Laura (10/5): Very much enjoyed staying here. - The staff were beyond helpful including the custodial staff. Very quiet and inviting Parking can be an issue but they did respond immediately when there was an issue.
- Thomas (10/5): awewsome - this was the best hotel ever
i have been at alot of good hotels
staff was off the charts good
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fatimatou (2/5): - The Bellafonte stay was the most horrible experience I’ve ever had vacationing. There is no kitchen on site, when ordering room service the food come from a restaurant which is 20 minutes away from the hotel. When the food arrived it was cold the hotel staff did not make any attempt to fix the problem. The staff is rude not welcoming at all, the elevators are the size of the toilet on an airplane. My card was overcharged by $600, keep in mind I booked the reservation through Expedia.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect stay! - Amazing property with a pier that leads you right into the perfect water, very close to the airport! Comfortable beds and good ac. The staff help set me up with a tour and allowed me to freshen up after a adventure tour and before my flight. Highly recommend!
- Patrick (9/5): Superb -
- Marie (7/5): Our stay was enjoyable however, Bonaire is the most expensive of the ABC islands. - The location of our room facing the street (road) did not allow for a good night’s sleep. Traffic on the road resulted in us being awake as early as 3-4 a.m. The room fees are high compared to Aruba, Curaçao and other islands in the Caribbean facing oceanfront. Car rentals are also much more expensive.
- Elena (10/5): Perfection - We stayed in The Bellafonte for a week. We absolutely love this place! There is no sand beach but you can jump in a water from the pier and see corals, different fish and sea turtles. The hotel is clean and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Kevin (10/5): - Quiet, well-run, friendly and attentive staff ready to provide anything you need, private access to ocean
- Natan (10/5): - Sometimes, you just get lucky, our experience at Bellafonte was exceptional! You can do thorough research and examine photos but photos often appear nicer than reality and provide little insight into the service and atmosphere. This was one of those rare cases where the reality surpassed our expectations.
We travel frequently, yet I don't recall encountering such friendly service and welcoming atmosphere as we did here.
Everyone we met greeted us with a big smile and a huge warm welcome.
Our second-floor, two-bedroom suite offered stunning sea views from the dining room, living room, and master bedroom. Both the master bedroom and living room opened onto a huge terrace over the water.
We loved the fully furnished kitchen the shaded dock, the little pool, and the convenience of having a dive locker and rinse tank.
Thank you all!
- Elizabeth (10/5): A beautiful stay on the oceanfront at the Bellafonte! - The location, apartments, amenities and staff were all perfect! I liked everything.
- Richard (10/5): - the staff are amazing and book anything you require. Even when i had to stay late due to flight delays they arranged everything
- Glen A (10/5): - Amazing place to stay if you like great service and quiet. And jumping off pier into clear turquoise water was spectacular.
- Scott (10/5): - The hotel is very nice and rooms large & spacious. The staff at this hotel is excellent. Always a smile on everyone's face as they do anything they can to help make your vacation more enjoyable. They also helped me set up some last minute activities on the island.
- Gary (10/5): Fantastic resort, will stay again - Great spot to dive or snorkel right off the pier. Very convenient The street that it’s on is extremely busy, and parking spots are tight. You really have to be careful pulling out. Also there is no gym, but we bought a guest pass at a nearby gym
