Guest Reviews
- Dietmar (10/5): - The most enjoyable in the best accommodation we had in our whole trip to Peru!
- Sharon (10/5): - Todo excelente. Limpio y acojedor
El personal muy amable
Y la habitación súper
- Catherine (4/5): No thermostat - Breakfast & the location was great, we had to cancel the reservations because there wasn’t any heat. The weather was cold and rainy, cold air came inside the room from the door & bathroom window which didn’t seal/close properly. Large black spider visited us & we had to report no hot water… maintenance came ran water for >5minutes, ran sink & shower & flushed toilet to make water lukewarm.
Front desk clerk was amazing & completely understood our needs, cancelled balance of reservations.
Just know there’s no heat, nor air conditioner.
E a localização é ótima. Bem central.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel was very comfortable and clean. Very close to the plaza and everywhere near you want to go in Cusco, a walk.
- Sylvia Denise (10/5): Hidden economical gem - Great economical hotel. Location bus great.
- Sue Ellen (10/5): Quiet and comfortable - El Andariego is in the best location. Right near the plaza and also a supermarket. The hotel is not on the street so you do not hear any traffic noise. It is incredibly quiet so probably not suited to those planning on partying and coming home late. Breakfast is nice and would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is located at the center of old cusco with walking distance to main attractions, plazas, temples and churches. The front desk is super friendly and will give you detailed information to get around. The room is super clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the fact that the property is in a great location. Walking distance to Plaza de Armas and many restaurants. Although it is located on a busy street, the property is not close to the sidewalk at all. It is also gated with cameras. We felt very safe there. Our room was very comfortable and had a fireplace that we used every night. They also serve good breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel.
- Kanstantsin (6/5): - We booked this hotel on the basis of tripadviser reviews but I think that they are not entirely accurate. The hotel is located in an old house. Our room was on the second floor right above the reception, so we could hear everything that happens there during the night and this was very uncomfortable. So, my take on pros and cons is the following:
+
It is very central, close to everything
The staff is very nice trying to help at any point
The breakfast is ok - not to die for but all right.
-
Can be very noisy
Old rooms and showers (clearly in need of refurbishment)
No safe box
The outer gate locks at night and you have to wait outside hoping that they will notice you at the reception - this was not really comfortable. It worked OK a couple of times but the idea itself was not really great
- we asked for a boxed breakfast before leaving to Machu Picchu and our request was effectively ignored.
So, since this hotel is not the cheapest I think that you can find a much better deal in Cusco. And I am truly sorry to say that because the staff at the reception were really nice and helpful. That’s why I rate it as 3. Otherwise it would be lower.
- Shealena (10/5): Great stay, felt like home - We loved our stay here! We stay 2 separate nights here in the same room. The hotel was very charming, and the breakfast was nice. The location is great and makes walking around the city very easy. They were helpful in arranging our pick up from the train station. The room was very clean, and the staff were friendly.
- Michael (8/5): - Everything worked out well! We are satisfied.
There were no hair dryer in the room. Silent surroundings but thin walls to the other guests.
- Byeong Sun (10/5):
- Elena (8/5): - Hotel bien situado y personal amable. Habitaciones grandes.
- Sharon (10/5): Clean rooms, friendly staff and great location - We actually extend our stay here because we liked it so much.
Its location is in a walking distance from the center. Very nice and helpful staff. Clean rooms.
- Fabio (10/5): Great stay in Cusco - Our stay was great. The staff was very attentive and even made sure we had all tips for altitude sickness prevention. They gave us great recos for restaurants and sightseeing around town. The room was cozy, clean and warm. Also the hotel is very well located and safe, just a few blocks from the main square, restaurants and a big market. We really recommend this hotel!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hot water in the shower, a clean and warm room during the Peruvian winter nights, friendly staff (including an initial welcome including general safety indications of the areas of the city to stay within after dark).
- MARTIN MARIA (10/5): Great hotel but improve heating system - The only thing that needs improvement is the heating in winter.
- Ricardo (8/5): Very well located and calm - The hotel is located at the end of a backyard of a house which makes it calm to sleep at night far from the busy traffic of Cuzco, and is very well located.near the Plaza Central, which is the main central point of interest in the city. The staff is very nice and helpful. It is an old house which demands a lot of maintanaince and I believe that little by little the are doing so. But on the other hand if you stay in the lower floors you will listen the upper customers walking and pushing their bags and disturbing your dreams. Also my con is the breakfast, which is poor and inside decoration needs to be more charming and embraceful. If you are carrying many bags ask for the bigger rooms. Rooms have nice showers.
- Karen (10/5): Good room, great location. - Nice room with adequate space, comfy bed and good bathroom. Good breakfast with eggs made to order. Great location. Hotel staff spoke English and were very helpful.
- Joseph (8/5): Under construction - Construction started early and continued late...noisy rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for the price - The rooms were clean, comfortable, and recently outfitted, although they did lack a certain charm. The bathroom appeared quite new. The shower leaked through the caulking. This was remedied after the first day. On one day of our stay there was no hot water until mid-morning. The staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet plentiful. Overall, the hotel was a good value for the price.
- James (10/5): Excellent hotel in the middle of town - We checked in with no issues, given a great bedroom with excellent facilities. It had a fireplace, a huge shower with great pressure and clean modern bathroom and bed!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cusci number 1 hostel - Good location, kind staff, lovely breakfast, free coffee and coca
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel in Cusco! - We checked in twice on two separate sections of our trip. We stayed on second floor and first floor. The room on first floor was really nice (room on second was a bit older but still fine). The staff were so nice! Very kind and patient and speak good English. We had a warm welcome with coca tea and they lit the fire place for us. Breakfast was nice as well. Dining area was warmly decorated. Free coca tea and coffee available during stay. Have to say this is one of my favourite hotel during my South America trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed for 6 nights in total while doing activities around the city. This hotel feels like a home away from home. Staff are very helpful and accomodating. Would not fault. 10/10
- Jacqueline (10/5): On our way to Macchu Picchu... - This is a very charming hotel. It was our first time to Cusco and upon arrival, altitude sickness hit like a ton of bricks. The staff was very accommodating in speaking slowly and not bombarding us with too many questions upon check in. They offered us coca tea with chamomile in hopes that it would help us rest. It was exactly what we needed. Upon going to our room, they recommended hot showers and going to bed which is exactly what we did. It was very chilly, and the rooms don't really have central heat, but they provided a roll away heater which worked for us. The bedspreads were also very thick so a combination of the two was able to keep the draft away. They provide continental breakfast in the morning which we didn't have because our train to macchu picchu left really early but the spread looked nice if you are able to take advantage of it. The area is very close to the center of town so we were able to walk around in the evening for shopping and restaurants. There are a lot of people selling things so just be aware you are in a very touristy part of town. They also arranged cabs for us to and from the train station as well as to the airport when we needed it. It was a very comfortable stay and I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
- Jonathan (10/5): Hidden gem. - The hotel was great, the staff was great and the breakfast included was just right. The staff helped us out in every possible way. Maria del Carmen was very helpful in getting us reliable transportation around and to the airport. Maria del Carmen was very kind and very sweet to us, she gave us very helpful advice. I would like to thank Maria del Carmen for everything that she did for us. Driving up to the hotel is not very pretty but walking into it it’s very nice. I highly recommend this hotel, it was clean the beds were very comfortable and quiet as well.
FYI: I highly recommend contacting the hotel in arranging a cab for pick up at the airport. Try and avoid getting a cab at the airport even where it says “official cabs”, they will charge you more money then what it normally would cost. It usually cost about 10 soles from the airport to the hotel.
- Veronique (10/5): Good hotel in Cusco - Great hotel with a very good staff and excellent location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convient and close to town, safe, quiet, clean, great breakfast and nice staff. Would recommend to anyone staying in Cusco!
Parking gratuit.
- Mildred (10/5): Home away from home - We had a lovely stay at this El Andareigo. We stayed there before our 5 day Salkantay Trek and we enjoyed it so much that we booked the same hotel once we returned to Cusco. The staff are welcoming and very helpful and the breakfast is delicious! We had no issues during our stay the facilities were clean and cozy! Perfect for relaxing! They also have coco tea leaves and a variety of tea is always available to help you acclimatize and to relieve the effects of altitude sickness. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in cusco!
- audra (8/5): Nice breakfast - Maria at the reception was extremely helpful in organizing our transfer from airport to hotel and into Sacred Valley.
Hotel has lovely breakfast with fresh fruits, herbal tea selections. The only negative was on one night we didn't have hot water, but they came to fix it when we reported it. Rooms tend to be on cooler temperature, but portable heaters are provided.
Location was close to main tourist area. Easy to get around. We enjoyed this!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place and location. Seems very secure. Bed was comfortable and lots of pillows. Staff very friendly.
- Fabiola (10/5): Nice hotel close to everything - Very nice hotel, very charming, staff is very helpful, I would come back.
- christine (10/5): great hostel in the center - Great helpful team
Good breakfast
Big nice rooms
Clean bathrooms
We stayed 5 days longer as planed
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great - Fantastic. very quiet for being in the middle of the city on a fairly busy street. Close to many tourist sites in the city.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A Hotel Obviously trying to be their Very Best! - The hotel staff allowed us to borrow there desk phone for slightly extended amount of time, twice! They have a secure front entrance to the grounds! They were friendly and accommodating! The room was clean and had an electric radiator heater to warm the room if you liked! Quaintly romantic, appealing decor and appropriate to the city's history, surroundings! Breakfast included which included obviously fresh squeezed orange juice by the staff among other nice offerings!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome B&B - Booked 1 night and decided to book another. Great location, great staff, great price, and a good breakfast! Super close to everything, plaza de armas, bus stations, airport, restaurants etc. Couldn't have asked for a better place, plus very secure (3 locked gates to get in, video camera monitoring etc.). Not that Cuzco is an unsafe place at all though.
In addition, we had a flight scheduled back to Lima at 6:50am and it was cancelled with the next flight not leaving until 11:30am. We called the hotel and they let us come back and stay in our room until actual check-out time when we had to go back to the airport. Great service!
- Oz (6/5): Mixed experience - Had a mixed experience with this hotel. Some great features alongside a few show stoppers. Overall, would not recommend.
Breakfast is fantastic, one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. The room is large, new and clean. Afternoon staff is really nice. There was always hot water, though you have to wait for 5-10 minutes.
There is a lot of renovation going around and in the hotel. Wifi is inconsistent. The hotel is very cold with poor isolation. There is a form of heating in the room, but a) you need to ask reception to turn it on each time b) it runs on alcohol and good for only 2 hours and c) doesn't reallly heat the room at all. Nights in cusco can get very cold so this a major problem..
.
- Oliver (10/5): Great hotel on excellent location - Hotel in the middle of bustling city center
Hotel is situated in a backyard so you wont hear a bit of the street noise
Safe
Room basic with tv and heating if you need it.
Good bed with clean sheets
Big bathroom, clean, towels old but clean
Wifi not so good, sometimes it worked and sometimes there was none
Breakfast great with pretty much everything you need, yogurt, fruits, breads, cheese, ham, eggs ,coffee, teas, juices, cereals, jams, etc.
Excellent hotel staff, welcoming, friendly, helpful
Definetely recomendable
- Verified traveler (10/5): A Fabulous Hostel - Well, what can we say, it all started with the free airport pick up, where there was a chap waiting for us upon our arrival at cusco, excellent transfer to the hostel, which is right in the centre of where you would want to be as a tourist, but within its own private courtyard. Staff were very welcoming and check in was seemless, received a room upgrade on arrival and on opening the room door we were met by a large rustic bedroom and spotless bathroom. massive tick there. We had access to drinks , hot and cold from the kitchen area, 24 hrs a day and found that the breakfast provided plenty of choice to get us started for the day, freshly squeezed juices, fresh fruit, cereals rolls, eggs, ham, it was lovely.
Staff were extremely accommadating to our needs, you only had to ask for there help and they assisted, but were not overly fussy and they were extremely nice and could communicate in english sufficiently. They advised us on altitude sickness and local cocoa teas were provided to try and counteract this.
Overall
We had a wonderful stay
The only issue we had throughout our stay was that the wi-fi signal was not strong enough to reach our room, however, in the main parts of the hostel and the beautiful garden area, it was of good quality
If you book this hostel quite a way in advance, you get an excellent price, a quality room and brilliant service.
I would recommend this hostel to anyone.
Thankyou to the staff for making our stay a thoroughly enjoyable one.
- jessie (8/5): Good location, clean room and friendly staff - The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly in helping our luggage, calling a taxi and solving matters. The kitchen staff doesn't speak English and they asked me in Spanish if I wanted fried-pan eggs. I asked for 3 eggs for three of us, but the lady said we could only have 2 eggs. I thought it was bazaar for 3 people to share 2 pan-fried eggs. At the end, I asked the front desk to help us so each one of us could have one egg.
- Quentin (10/5): No need to hesitate - GREAT hotel! - I highly recommend this hotel. It was the most expensive one we stayed at on this trip, but after Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain, it was so nice to unwind here. The location is great, walking distance of almost anything you would need or want to do in Cusco. The room was very nice, italian shower, good bedding, fireplace (which we didn't need that time of year but a very nice touch), and it felt very private with our own stairs and balcony. The breakfast was full, the best we had the whole time and coffee and tea available anytime. Service was great. And the hotel is back from the street avoiding what could be a lot of noise, and entrance is gated. Can't say enough good things about this place!
- Leslie (10/5): Cusco - Hola!!! I stayed in el and to do MP and cannot complain. It is a quiet hotel in central location, rooms are very good, and staff are very helpful. My tip is to do some of the inka trail as the mountains are beautiful.
- Gerri (10/5): Nice hotel and helpful staff - The location was conveniently near the square and many tourist sites were within walking distance. We had the family suite which had a double bed in one room and 2 twin beds in another room. There was plenty of room in both areas.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - While this hostel is well appointed and offers a really nice breakfast, we found the level of security measures taken here a bit disconcerting. Perhaps it's only because we arrived at night, but the street and entrance to the hostel were less than appealing. The bed was very comfortable and the room nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient, great staff, comfy like home - Besides a convenient location, the staff were very caring - the receptionist even walked us to the door and waited for the tour bus with us at 5:30am. Breakfast was delicious!
- Dejan (8/5): An advantegous location, in the heart of Cusco - The staff is very resoonsive and always willing to help.
- AnaSF (10/5): Very nice place to stay! - This Hostel is quite more, the rooms are very confortable, clean and nice!
The staff is super helpful and kind.
The breakfast have all you need to start your day and the best of all is that is in the middle of all main spots of Cusco city, we definetly recommend to stay here if you are traveling on a budget but are concern about cleanness and confort.
- Leonid (8/5): Excellent value for money - It is quiet, country-style, very reasonably priced hotel. It is centrally located with short-distance walk to everything in Qusco. Hotel stuff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is perfect
- Beth (6/5): Close to Plaza de Armas - If you are a budget-minded traveler and want to stay close to the tourist district, this hotel might be worth your while. It's located within 3 blocks of Plaza de Armas. It's set off the street so you don't hear a lot of the traffic noise. The staff is cordial, but little to no english is spoken. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower had hot water and strong water pressure. We got the room with the fireplace, but didn't use it because there was an electric heater in the room that was more efficient. Breakfast was good - fruit, yogurt, granola, cheese and eggs to order.
- Aaron (4/5): Disappointing room and cleanliness, great location - We were driving a rental car, turned in from a busy street and squeezed into a courtyard for parking. If you are driving anything larger than a Toyota Corolla, I would not advise attempting to park in here. The staff was friendly enough, offering tea and refreshments, and also breakfast. Can't comment on their food, only reason we didn't try it was that we wanted to try places in the city. Lots of dust in the room, very old bathroom appurtenances with bits of rust. Hot water if you were lucky, and for 5 minutes, tops. Cold, but we were provided a small space heater. There was a fire place, but all of the wood they gave us was too wet to burn. When we asked for more, the same occurred.
- AM (10/5): Excellent place to stay, close to Plaza de Armas - My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at El Andariego. We stayed two nights in a great room with a fireplace where we built fires both nights. We left for one night to go to Machu Picchu and they gladly (and safely) stored our bags until we returned the following night. Both rooms we stayed in were exceptional. The ladies working at the hotel were absolutely fantastic; helpful, accommodating, and friendly. The hotel is only a couple blocks from Plaza de Armas and in a great location for anyone looking to walk around Cusco. It is situated just a few steps from a main road through a courtyard and behind two gates for safety and security. The hotel provided breakfast each morning which consisted of fruit, bread, yogurt, granola, jam, and eggs made to order. They also have hot water and tea readily available at any time of day. If we make our way back down to Cusco in the future, I would definitely stay here again!
- Alan Kong (8/5): - Staff willingly to assist you for on line check in. Call my pre-booked tour company for pick up arrangement.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cozy hotel with pretty courtyard and great breakfast (complete with your choice of eggs). Rooms were a little noisy as floors were wood and there were high ceilings. Great location about 3 blocks from Plaza des Armas. They'll also store your luggage for free if you go trekking on the Inca Trail.
- Laura (8/5): Great hotel for short stays! - Don't be fooled by the entrance from the street; the hotel inside is actually very cozy and well put together. The heater didn't work too well but they gave us extra comforters and everything we asked for. Breakfasts are great and everything is fresh.
The staff is very helpful and polite. My only negative point was that they forgot to pick us up at the airport (you'd better check that the day before and confirm), but they made up for it by giving us transportation to the airport.
Location is great to walk around the streets of Cusco and come back easily.
