Guest Reviews
- Richard (10/5): - Awesome place but the TV sucked! Only a couple channels. I like to rest after a long day and watch TV to rest, but not that one.
- Cindy (10/5): Family retreat - Quiet small hotel type room. Hotel room very large. Beautiful woodsy surrounding.
- Olena (10/5): - I like it. Plan next year stop again!
- Carrie (10/5): - Close to many attractions. Quiet, large space so plenty of room for everyone.
- Deb (8/5): - It says steps to Lake Superior. It’s across the highway and no access if you did cross. Highway noise. Other than that it was nice
- Hank (10/5): - Comfortable
- Andy (10/5): - Peaceful and quiet
- Jun (8/5): - It’s good. We like our 2-bed rooms with shared doors. No air conditioner, a bit hot during our stays.
- Tracee (10/5): - Nice spacious 2 queen bed unit, was clean and easy to get to and get in. I don’t think the listing mentioned that there’s a community fire pit and sauna, but there is. They have a key pad on the door and they email you the code (7 digits if I remember right) when it’s ready to check in. Had a microwave and a decent size mini fridge/ freezer that worked well. Would definitely stay again and it was in our price range.
- Kathie (10/5): - Very cozy, quiet, and relaxing ♥
- Lana (10/5): - It was very clean and away from the busy road.
Close to trails. I would stay here again.
- Heidi (10/5): Terrific affordable room! - What a pleasant surprise. Spacious clean room. And a good price!
Only thing I would have changed is to have more TV options before bed
- Gloria (6/5): - The room had a smell upon opening the door. Mildewy?
The GFI outlet in bathroom was loose. When plugging in an appliance, it only worked if plug was not entirely inserted.
There could be a mirror in the main room.
I had made a mistake with my reservation which they did inform me. When trying to call back, no one would pick up the phone. I was finally able to reach them when another person in the unit gave me a different number. Very upsetting.
- Robert (8/5): - Quiet setting. Eady access to report and nearby attractions. Efficient check-in instructions by email.
- Janice (8/5): - It was a great quiet place to stay. The virtual check-in didnt go well, otherwise it was nice.
- David (10/5): - Great secluded get away easy driving distance from recreation
- Nancy (10/5): - I liked how quiet and clean the rooms were. Sort of close to what I had to do in Grand Marais. Had some mix ups early getting into unit, Could not find unit called A3, didn't know the outside door with knob and key entry would be unlocked, as all I had was a code to punch in. I thought the parking a bit crowded but wouldn't want more trees cut to just make room for cars. My summertime stay was very nice and comfortable. Thank you
- Dan (8/5): - Clean, comfortable room with stove and othe kitchen amenities. Close to state parks and hiking trails, as well as Lake Superior beaches. Pet friendly.
- Bob (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. It was clean and well kept. We would come and stay again.
- Nate (10/5): - Close to recreation areas and reasonable price. Clean and quiet place. Pet friendly was a godsend.
- Marlene (10/5): - Check in/out was completely communicated via text and was seamless.
- Richard (10/5): - Good location for visiting places on the North Shore. Comfortable and quiet room with lots of space. No contact with management except through text and email but this was not a problem.
- James (8/5): - generally we're not use to being able to manage the climate in the room..during our stay was hot and
muggy. There is no air conditioning. Mgr went out of their way to provide a fan which was appreciated.
- shannon (6/5): - I went to the north shore to hike the waterfalls.
- Heinrich (10/5): - Very clean and what I needed. I little bit noise from highway 61 when windows were open at night
- Kenneth (8/5): - Check in is online no rep on site
- Edward (10/5): - The room was clean and comfortable. Parking was right up front. Self check-in was quick and easy. I would stay there again.
- Melissa (10/5): - The pictures don’t do it justice. I was pleasantly surprised.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Second time staying here and still satisfied.
- David (10/5): Family Trip Up North - Family trip to visit several stops along Lake Superior. Short distance from Fr. Baraga's Cross (we spent a lot of time on the beach there), Cross River, and Temperance River State Park (great trail along the river). Easy drive to Grand Marais. Very clean, comfortable beds, quiet surroundings. Entry code and instructions, as well as check out, were all communicated via text. Would recommend!
- Samantha (6/5): - It was quiet and quaint! We weren’t as impressed with cleanliness as others, but maybe it was a one off. We found a pair of dirty socks between the bed and night stand and there were coffee splatters that hadn’t been wiped up in the bathroom and tables. Nothing terrible, would stay again. Beds were clean and comfortable, that’s what counts for me!
- Nikki (10/5): - Very nice, quiet, and clean
- Bryan (10/5): - Clean, easy in and out, quiet
- Dawn (10/5): - We have not met any staff as the check in was contactless. Everything we needed to get into our room was sent via email. Wish we were staying longer..... Seems like a nice place. I bet it is great in the winter for the skiers!
- Dan (10/5): - Easy check in, nice place, great location halfway up the shore
- James (10/5): - Okay
- Mark (10/5): Great stay. - Great location, very spacious, clean, comfortable room.
- Derek (10/5): - Checking in/out was easy and efficient. Clean, well kept room. Convenient parking right outside the door.
- Susan (10/5): - Nice place for the price. Easy access. Clean
- Amy (10/5): - Very easy to access. Very quiet. Loved the stream trickling away just outside the window. Fireplace very cosy. Spacious room.
- Val (8/5): - Beautiful deck off our unit! The location is great for exploring the whole coast and at a reasonable price!!!
- Julie (10/5): - Property was in the process of being sold. We were the only occupants. Nice place.
- Neil (10/5): - We loved our stay. Quiet and super clean. We will definitely be staying here again.
- Amy (10/5): - Staff that checked us in was very friendly. Wasnt clear if they had cable so we borrowed a movie and a game from their collection. Very quiet and peaceful, room was spacious. Nice place to stop between Duluth and Grand Marais.
- Mindy (10/5): - Very nice and accommodating!
Everything was wonderful!
- Jessica (10/5): - This was our second stay at Superior Ridge Resort Motel. And it was just as great as the first time! Room was clean and the owners are very friendly and welcoming and I feel its in a great location with all state parks on the shore being an hour or less away! We already have our 3rd stay here booked for this fall!
- john (10/5): - JUST LOVE THIS MOTEL AND THE OFFICE PERSONAL WAS FANTASTIC...HELLO BRUCE!!! COMING BACK UP NORTH IN JULY PROVIDING CAN GET SOMEWHERE TO STAY
- Steve (10/5): - Very quiet property, six-unit building instead of normal motel/hotel hallway set-up. Only 15 minutes to ski area, less to Temperance River State Park. Would definitely stay here again.
- James (10/5): - The unit was remarkably clean. Every corner and surface had been attended to.
- John (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay. No complaints. I would stay there again.
- Meghan (10/5): - Always love to stay here!
- Cheyenne (10/5): - Loved the whirlpool and Sauna. Comfy bed!
- Greg (10/5): - Friendly, secluded property that exceeded expectations.
- Robyn (8/5): - Quiet and peaceful but the hallway of our unit smelled incredibly bad like sewer back up or decaying animal. Owner was aware.
- Arlette (8/5): - It was a nice quiet and convenient location to many nature trails and points of interest. Our room was small, but good for an overnight stay.
- Mae B (10/5): - It was located in a ideal area for exploring the north shore of Lake Superior. Enjoyed the view, quietness and room. We chose a room with the jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Great for cool fall weather.
- Larry (8/5): - Love the woodsy area and private feeling to the property. chairs in the room were very hard and walls seemed thin (kids next door) but once they quieted down it was great
- Scott (10/5): - Very clean, quiet with a great location
- Firas (10/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): - Very quiet. Hot tub was great. Missed not having a deck to enjoy the view. Some units did have this.
- Jessica (10/5): - We stayed here for 6 nights while we were in the area for a hiking trip. We loved it. We had a room with a lakeview, fireplace, and whirlpool. Fireplace made for a warm cozy sleep and is easily controlled by a dial on the wall. There's also an alternate heating system in the room if you dont want to use the fireplace. Pretty clean. I dont know how you clean jets in a whirlpool but if theres a way, I would suggest it as some stuff did come out of them when we started them. The only cons here are that the water pressure isn't great and walls are thin so if your neighbors talk loud, you're gonna hear it. We didn't have any issues with that after dark though. People were quiet during those times. Location was great and put us right in the center of the 8 state parks we planned on visiting. The furthest we had to drive to a park was 1 hour 15 min. Our building was at the top of the hill so we even got to see the Northern lights from right ouside the building in the parking area! Definitely will be staying here again next time we are in the area.
- Ruth (10/5): - Nice place and amenities and good location
- Naoko (8/5): - Property was clean and well maintained. Convenient to go to general store to get breakfast, cafe near by and Grand Marais.
Unfortunately, the room above us was very noisy, we woke up by crying baby at 4 am as well as them leaving the room before 6am. That is the only down side.
- Cindy (10/5): - Room was clean and views amazing.
- John (10/5): - Very clean. Nice whirlpool tub, comfortable bed
- Amy (4/5): - The property had a great view, but it is terribly outdated. They really need to update the furnishings and decor.
- Matt (10/5): - Great place to stay on the north shore!
- Michelle (10/5): - Quiet, reasonably priced & beautiful views of the lake
- Shari (10/5): - Beautiful property. Enjoyed the quiet, wonderful amenities in the full kitchen, fire pit and badminton net. Will stay again!
- Kent (8/5): - Nice clean, bear bones condo. Nice unit for the dollar.
- Tom (10/5): - This is a nice location for taking advantage of nearby hiking. It’s near enough to the lake to take advantage it’s coolness. They even had a charcoal grill! It’s on our list to stay at again.
- Lora (10/5): - We had a king room with a lake view. The room was the cleanest I’ve ever experienced. The owners were very pleasant. It was so quiet. There were 6 rooms in our building. Some had children and all were very respectful and quiet later in the evening
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location on the North Shore - This was my 3rd stay. Very affordable, clean, great location on the North Shore of Lake Superior. No cable or air conditioning if that is important to some. It is not to us since we are out hiking and site seeing plus it is typically cool along Lake Superior so we just open the windows. Will definitely stay again.
- John (10/5): - Room basically clean. However, the refrigerator's ice box needs to be defrosted and the wall heater needs to be vacuumed. Dust hanging out from air ducts.
- Denny (10/5): Great! - Staff was friendly and took care of all our requests. Room was very clean and our view from the room was awesome. Would stay again.
- Angela (10/5): - Quiet, clean, and surrounded by nature, this facility combines the serenity of a cabin in the woods with the comforts of home.
- Barry (8/5): - Very clean.
- Marc (8/5): - Thought the cost did not warrent the ammenaties. The complex was more like cabins.
- Candace (10/5): - Stayed in a Lakeview room. Very quiet clean property. Close to parks and other activities. Didn't have daily cleaning, but they replaced items we requested promptly. Would stay again.
- Joanne (10/5): - Wonderful staff and enjoyed the fireplace on a cold rainy day.
- Bonnie (10/5): - Nice room. Great view. Awesome staff
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The property was very clean, accommodations comfortable, and check-in easy. There was a small badminton court, a cornhole setup, and a bonfire pit for guest use. Our room contained a mini-fridge and microwave as well. Would definitely stay again.
My only complaint was that check-out was listed as 11:00, and we had housekeeping people attempt to enter our room twice prior to that time in the 10-o'clock hour while we were getting ready for the day and preparing for our departure. Would recommend better communication with the staff about which rooms have checked out already and which have not to avoid guests getting walked in on in various stages of dress/undress.
- Lucas (10/5): - Nice place, good central location on the north shore. Quiet, clean, comfortable, good place to stay.
- Pamela (10/5): - The room and view were lovely! Very comfortable and relaxing space.
- Scott (10/5): - Great resort great owners this was our third time there and we will be back quite clean and friendly
- Dawn (10/5): - I enjoy being away from the crowds and this place is perfect for that. The room was large and very clean. We enjoyed the small frig, the coffee maker, and the microwave.
- Susan (8/5): - Simple, quiet room. Beds were comfortable, microwave, mini-fridge & mini coffee maker (coffee was good too!).
- Mary (8/5): Relaxing - A relaxing stay. Only issue was inconsistent slow internet
- Diane (8/5): - Room was very clean and quiet, but smaller than listed and minus the fireplace featured on our registration/confirmation. We were in the area working on events in 2 state parks so we saw no staff after our initial check in.
- David (8/5): good place to stay - Clean and well kept, no problems.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ski trip - Great spot for cross country skiing trip, nice big room with a fireplace, awesome sauna, great service.
- Erik (10/5): Perfect NorthShore retreat from a busy world - Excellent place for outdoor activities. Plenty of parking and perfectly quiet place to relax.
- April (10/5): Kitchen a Plus - This is one of the more affordable options on the North Shore. The location is great for hiking. The rooms are big enough. We love having a kitchen.
- Roseann (10/5): - Liked how clean it was and having a common area for two couples to stay in
- Ceasar (10/5): - Very nice location
- Linda (10/5): - Loved the location out away from town. So peaceful. The room was wonderful.
- BARB (10/5): - The staff were pleasant. Property was very quiet. Spacious rental.
- Brittany (10/5): - Always like this property, nice area surrounding. Couple notes to property, maybe add a reflector at your driveway, its impossible to see the turn in when you arrive at night. Also, itd be nice to add to the dvd collections.
- Sandy (6/5): - Didn’t like the location and the steps.
- Diane (10/5): - It was clean and convenient to the places I wanted to go.
