The continental breakfast gave us the chance to spend time with John, the owner, and the other guests—a friendly and fun experience. Wish we could have stayed longer, to spend time relaxing on the front porch and take another walk along the harbor, just across the street, with its astonishing display of thousands of blooming dahlias.

- Carroll (9/5): I saw the other rooms on the property and would give the harborview inn a rating of 9/ 10 if I had stayed in a diff - The owner John, his hospitality, the location, & the cleanliness. Our room was very small & up more than 30 stairs, which was unexpected. I have arthritis and now have to think about this when I’m booking future stays so I don’t have to pay so many stairs again..

- Caitlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathi (10/5): The atmosphere of the 200 plus year building settles every bit of anxiety that you might have walked in with! You leave - Harborview is an amazing Inn to be able to stay at. It feels like home with your favorite relative cooking you breakfast!
- John (6/5): - Great location, charming character and host, but sub-par plumbing and heating infrastructure

- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (10/5): - I booked an overnight stay for my mom and I as a Christmas gift for her, as she had never traveled to Gloucester. We planned a trip to hunt for seaglass and wanted to stay close to Pavilion Beach. SO glad we decided to stay here! John is very warm, welcoming, and conversational. He made us feel at home right away, and even carried my mom's overnight bag upstairs to our room. We stayed in the Manchester room, which had a beautiful view of the beach across the street. The bathroom was super tiny but very clean and we slept very well in the comfy bed. They had a little welcome basket with snacks & bottled water in our room waiting for us, and cookies in the common room downstairs. The next morning before checkout we spent an hour or so in the common room, enjoyed a slice of walnut coffee cake, coffee & orange juice; chatted with John about the property and played with Skipper, his adorable dog. Cannot say enough good things about this place & would recommend to all our family & friends!
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christy (10/5): - John welcomed us and was a remarkable host. We stayed in six different accomodations on this trip and this one was by far our favorite.
The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Parking is free and convenient. John gave us a great dining recommendation which was within an easy 8-10 minute walk. We would love to stay here again. Thank you for being a great host.
- Victoria (10/5): - Family-owned and so warm and welcoming!
- John (8/5): Nice place -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great time @ the Harborview Inn - WONDERFUL - We stayed at the Harborview for our granddaughters wedding. The staff (family run business) was great and our view was amazing. I would definitely recommend staying here. We truly enjoyed our brief visit.
- Sheila (5/5): Passable - There were extention cords running everywhere. I worried about a fire. The room was smaller than an nyc hotel. The waterview was a bit exaggerated. Parking was out front but on a very busy street. Did not know till I booked it was a 3rd floor walk up on very steep stairs. Could have stayed in a waterfront hotel for same money.
- Jaime (10/5): - We stayed here from Friday to Monday for a wedding we were in. The Inn keeper Sam and the Inn owner John, were more than welcoming when we got there. This place was so cozy and really made you feel like home.
- Julie (10/5): - We really like the location and view. We were able to walk to restaurants and the walkway across the street was beautiful for miles. I also really like the owners as they were so accommodating and helpful.
- Deirdre (9/5): Superb - Charming inn with friendly owner in a lovely location, convenient to beeches, parks, restaurants and shops.
- Roberta (10/5): Great place, great owner. - Proximity to town and water Nothing
- Paula (9/5): Superb - Located on the promenade, perfect for an early morning stroll. We visited in late October, a great time to go, very quiet but most places in town still open.
The hotel is very old and full of character. Very clean and cosy. A good choice for breakfast, especially the fruit scones!
Certainly recommend staying here.
- Glenda (10/5): everything was perfect I wanted to stay longer. The decor was so tasteful and well done - I loved this hotel - the decor was gorgeous and very very comfortable. The hosts were really friendly and helpful and Skipper the dog was so well behaved and lovely. MY only regret was that we were only there for one night.. nothing
- Simon (8/5): Beautifully situated traditional B&B - Greeted by Sam who was friendly and helpful. Talked to the owner John in the evening while in the property's beautiful sitting room and got some really interesting background on the property and the town of Gloucester.
- Dillon (10/5): - I loved our stay at Harborview Inn! Right on the water in Gloucester, beautiful views, easy to get to the train, and great rooms and service. John was a delight to talk to and very helpful with suggestions about the area. The only thing that could have made it better for me would be fruit at breakfast, but the pastries served were delicious.
I would absolutely stay at Harborview again if I am ever in Gloucester!
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brianna (10/5): Lovely! - We had a lovely stay here! The building and rooms are very cute and cozy. The decor is beautiful, especially in the dining room. The breakfast is a very good spread of assorted pastries. Scones, muffins, croissants, you name it! The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and nice to talk to! The room was very nice and they offer a welcome basket with snacks and waters. To top it all off we had a beautiful view of the water right from our window. We had such a great time staying here!
- Lorel (8/5): Friendly owner and lovely location - Great location
Ocean and walking to everything
Space for our own dinner Breakfast a little boring
- Mike (10/5): - We liked how cozy it was ❤️
- Marion (9/5): Overall, good memories of my stay. - The location and the room and the owner’s availability. The breakfast could be improved.
- Anne (3/5): Owners and staff were nice but the bathroom really needs a renovation. - Location Bathroom had tiles about to fall out and mold. Smelled funky. The wall to wall carpet
- PAUL (10/5): - This GEM of a Bed & Breakfast is the Perfect R&R YOU NEED!! It's Like Heaven! I'll Be Back!
- Kathy (9/5): Superb -
- Juliana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - My wife always wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast. Check ...done. The place was fine but it was nothing wonderful. I dont like staying in someones home. However it was a nice home with all the original old charm, if u like that kinda thing. Felt like i was staying at my Grandpops house. The breakfast was fine and included some scones, cakes, coffee etc Hotel for us going forward.
- Anne (10/5): We had a lovely stay - short only one night but very relaxing. John is an excellent host - Beautiful location lovely views of the harbour. Our room (Essex room) was very cosy, clean and comfortable
- Sarah (10/5): Although I didn't spend much time in the Inn due to wedding festivities, I'm eager to come back and - Our room was bright, inviting, spacious, very clean, as well as cozy. John, and the other gentleman who welcomed us, were wonderful and kind. Skipper the dog mihht have been my favorite part! I would love to come back!! Maybe a little more variety at breakfast- but not a complaint! Still lovely.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - John is a great host and the property is in a fabulous location with excellent views
- Gillian (8/5): Friendly host, quirky old building, perfect for a short break. - Great location overlooking the sea. On-site parking. Close to everything in a Gloucester.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dacia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michele (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): - Great stay: close to beach and town. Hosts very amicable.
- Erin (10/5): - I loved the property, it’s all so beautifully decorated and a lot of outdoor space. Sitting on the porch early in the morning and in the evening was so lovely to look out on the water.
Go ahead and grab a coffee in the lovely in the Cape Ann room for breakfast and talk to John, the owner. John is a life-long local with a lot of interesting stories and don’t forget to give his sweet little doggo, Skipper some pets before heading out for the day.
The location can’t be beat. I didn’t rent a car but the area is so walkable, just a 15 minute walk to Main street and is 5 mins from Pavilion beach.
Breakfast is a nice continental layout with pastries, juice, coffee, and tea as nice snack to get you going.
- Robert (10/5): - Charming Inn with very personable and helpful staff
