From the moment you arrive you get the sense that you are going to be very well looked after and the hospitality that Nikos, Angela and Giulio provide is second to none. They are clearly passionate in ensuring every single guest has the best individually tailored experience possible. They will plan and book anything you need. The breakfasts are on another level. We had an amazing week and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to any one . We would also recommend trying the collection of drinks provided in the room, a couple that we had never heard of soon became our go to aperitif before going out in the evening.

We were very fortunate to also receive a complimentary upgrade to a suite and an extra day of access due to a very late flight home. Nikos and Angela are superb hosts full of genuine advice and suggestions that make all aspects of your holiday better. Julia is also amazing, super attentive and charming, making her own supplementary recommendations which were excellent. Book in for as long as you can, relax and let professionals take care of you.
- Rosieflowers (10/5): Beautifully appointed hotel with a warm welcome and relaxing experience. - First basics out of the way, not the cheapest stay but worth every euro, value for money. All areas sparklingly clean. Bedrooms and bathrooms immaculate with a great selection of toiletries, towels etc. The hotel is very aware of protecting the environment, water conservation on a small island etc. and respected our request not to change bed linen, towels etc on a daily basis.! I cannot speak more highly of all aspects this wonderful hotel. Hotel positioned within easy access to all points of interest in Rhodes Town and further afield. On entry to the hotel you are immediately aware that you have selected a beautifully appointed hotel with welcoming experienced staff ready to provide a relaxed and comfortable stay. Not done your homework on what to see, where to go, no worries, Nikos provides detailed information on the island he and his wife Angela love. Looking at the prompts on writing a revue, beautiful well appointed rooms, (and we secured a guided tour, two nosey sisters!) general areas comfortable, tastefully decorated, gorgeous enclosed courtyard, enjoy the most delicious breakfast there. Don’t miss Angela’s homemade Lemon and Pink Pepper conserve. Service and amenities, how about a help yourself drinks selection accessible on your return after an evening relaxing in any of the many restaurants. The hotel itself is a work of art with so many intricate details, a subtle, nuanced style, amazing collections that you can just wander around look at and you somehow feel like you are in a museum and your own home at the same time. Everything is so accessible it's just fun. Nikos and Angela are so welcoming and you immediately feel comfortable with them. From arranging my day trip to Symi, helping me find a guide for my full day tour of Rhodes, locating a local bicycle shop so I could have a great ride they were there for everything but never intrusive, just always helpful and friendly. The rooms, ah the rooms! Just like the hotel itself works of art but also done in a way that you feel right at home. I often stay in larger chains with cookie cutter rooms, but occasionally stay at smaller boutique hotels, and honestly this was one of, if not the nicest accommodations I have ever had regardless of size. Sure big hotels can have more things like spas, etc, but the feel and experience at Kókkini Porta Rossa is unparalleled. Angela's homemade jams (yum!) breakfasts that are too delicious to describe with all sorts of little touches (bee pollen!?!) I was so impressed. The location in the old town is perfect, close enough for a short walk to the heart of it but just a little bit away so you are not in the constant hustle and bustle of tourists. Stay here for a truly magnificent experience that you will cherish for years to come.

The amount of thought that Nikos, Angela and their team have put into every detail really shines through, from the customizable home-cooked breakfasts to the carefully curated books, drinks and other amenities in the rooms to the unique and charming character of each space. We loved having breakfast in the garden each day including Angela's exceptional cooking. Nikos was also an admirable host who took the time to recommend restaurants and guides and to help us curate our journey. We were particularly impressed at the customized itineraries and recommendations, including a dedicated app, that he and the team put together for us - really enabling us to get the most out of Rhodes Old Town in a limited time. The location was also quite convenient to everything we wanted to see. This may seem odd, but I don't think a day has gone by since our visit that I haven't had fond memories of our time there. Everything you've read about the hotel being well appointed, the delicious breakfasts, great quiet location, etc. are true. But what stays so fondly with me after this much time are my memories of the family and staff. Nikos, Angela, Paris and Guilia made us feel so embraced and cared for, like they really wanted our visit to Rhodes to be the best it could be. They are absolutely elegant hosts. Never has a hotel lingered in my heart like Kokkini Porto Rossa. I hope you stay there and have the same experience.
- Djaaleymama (10/5): Perfect - We had a lovely time at the Kokkini Porta Rossa. It's a lovely suite only hotel in the Medieval city of Rhodes. We stayed in Deniz and our 2 children stayed in Gülbin. The rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and very spacious. We had a balcony overlooking the main road and the city wall. It was a nice place to sit and people watch. Our children loved their suite too. The rooms were very well insulated and quiet. The beds were comfortable. I loved that it did not feel like a hotel but rather like a very upscale bed and breakfast. They provided fruits, snacks drinks and a stellar breakfast service. There's a delightful walled garden where you can sit for breakfast (and at other times too). The hosts were so helpful. We had just 3 days and they helped us plan our activities. Nikos gave excellent suggestions for dining options and shopping too. The tablets they provide are a stroke of genius. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Not only was the accommodations everything we could ask for with 3 people and rich with culture...the team was simply lovely and real. When we didn't know where to go for dinner, he asked questions about our likes and provided wonderful recommendations and called to let them know we were coming. This stay was the last of 12 day journey and the timing was perfect...relaxing, educational, enjoyable, and genuine. From the hibiscus tea while we signed in and given a detailed plan of excursions Nikos had been so kind to put together for us so each day we had a full itinerary of exciting days out in Old Town, Lindos and Symi Island. We were even given a car to travel to out of the way hidden gems! The hotel room we booked was breathtaking, spotlessly clean, well stocked with everything you could need and the highlight being its own private garden with plunge pool..the perfect end to a wonderful day exploring Rhodes, soaking in the pool with a drink from the mini bar in our room. Breakfast was served every day with a new and tasty surprise to enjoy each morning, 4 courses to be exact. My partner even received a gift from Nikos and his wonderful family as it was his birthday while staying at the hotel. Our flight home wasn't until later in the evening so we were given an available room at no extra charge to store our cases and relax in until it was time to go, we were picked up from the hotel in a cart and then dropped off at our taxi to travel to the airport, all of which was arranged by Nikos. We are already planning our next trip and we cannot wait to stay here again! 5 stars isn't a high enough rating for this place! The most stunning, incredible hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at.

We are well travelled and this is by far the best place we have ever stayed. To say that efforts are made to ensure every moment of your stay is phenomenal is an understatement. The hotel itself is a gem - as many have already said. The finer points, the attention to detail, the beautiful decor, the fascinating decor - all appreciated. Cleanliness and facilities exceptional. They thought about everything, both efficiency wise as in terms of ambience, quality and details. It's one of the most elegant places I've stayed. The owners and staff added definitely to that. You start your day with a delicious and refined breakfast, after a day of sightseeing you come back in their serene atmosphere where you can make use of the open bar while Paris is playing piano and you enjoy pure calmness in the patio. They have a lot of recommendations for you and know the good places in any segment you like for that day. Nikos sends quite some information upfront, my tip is to read it through carefully and chat with him upfront. It will safe you headspace, time while being there and you will definitely see the best places around. We loved to see the island, especially the history of it. Kokkini would be a reason for us to return to. Besides staying with you it was lovely to meet you. All your effort didn't go unnoticed. - paulmZ2202ZE (10/5): A hotel in heaven. - We had a wonderful stay at Kókkini Porta Rossa, our hostesses Angela and Nikos were the best, and made our stay so comfortable. Their personal touch and warmth through their services made us feel home at once. Greeting us every morning with a delicious breakfast, and suggestions for the exploring of our day. In the evenings we enjoyed a drink in the backyard, accompanied by the beautiful piano tones from Paris. The hotel has 6.suites, and is so beautiful decorated with many historical items to research. The hotel is located just inside the town walls, in a quiet neighbourhood. Since I’m in a manual wheelchair I had been in contact with Nikos multiple times prior to our stay, both on mail and phone to make sure that everything would work out ok. I think maybe he was a bit nervous😜but Nikos you made our stay so easy and comfortable. We stayed in the ground floor suite Orhan. Though the hotel is not 100% adaptable for wheelchairs, there were ramps in our suite, and at the back door which we used to enter the hotel. The hotel has its own app, and there they made suggestions for what to visit, and where to eat, and they booked all the reservations for us. They also booked guided tours, both for a tour of the island, and for the Medieval town. So thank you again for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back one day. Love Kirsti&Paul
- sandycO3096FM (10/5): The Amazing Kokkini Hotel inside Rhodes medieval wall - My husband and I traveled to Athens, Crete and Rhodes. In total we stayed at 4 different hotels to accommodate our travel plans. On Rhodes Island, we originally planned to stay at a resort in Kiotari for 4 nights, but luckily our travel advisor told us that we would be making a mistake if we didn’t spend at least 2 nights in the Kokkini Porta Rossa. We took her advice and this turned out to be one of the best hotels that we ever stayed at! We arrived in the evening and Nikos immediately sat down with us ( with a glass of wine ;) to make sure that we could start to enjoy our time in Rhodes and we were able to go out for a great dinner. Nikos called ahead to a restaurant for us to let them know that we were on our way and also secured us a table on the rooftop with a fabulous view of the city center. Nikos told us about the “must-see” places that are all either a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. Our 4 course breakfasts at the hotel were AMAZING! Our first morning we were served Crepes with mushrooms, Greek yogurt with a delicious mix of fresh fruits and spices, a terrific egg dish and desert. It was the best breakfast! Nikos and Angela continued to make us feel welcomed as honored guests, even though we are just 2 regular people. I can not remember the name of the young woman who served us our food,(sorry) but she was a delight to talk to as well! The way that the hotel is decorated was nothing short of amazing. Every detail in every space in the hotel was beautiful. Our room was gorgeous, this includes the bathroom and the sitting room! The only thing I would change is that I would have stayed at this hotel for more days!

It’s family-owned and operated, and they truly go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcomed and cared for. The personal touches were exceptional.. from selecting your pillow preference before arrival, to the incredible four-course breakfast each morning (honestly, the best food I’ve ever eaten), the complimentary drinks and snacks, a complimentary car hire to explore the island for a day, and even an iPad app with a personalised itinerary and tailored recommendations for each of your days. I felt like I had been welcomed into a family home filled with warmth, comfort, and genuine care. You can feel the love and dedication that Nikos and Angela pour into every detail. Their son’s beautiful piano playing each night was the sweetest touch. This is something you will never experience at a high-end resort where you are just another number. Here, you are treated as family with utmost care. I was genuinely sad to leave. My only regret is that I didn’t stay longer! - willemrichem (10/5): Beautiful Hotel with Exemplary Personalised Service - Hospitality like you have never experienced before. Pack lightly and let Nikos and his family take good care of you. They have thought of everything and you will not be left for wanting. We spent four wonderful nights at Kokkini. Everything was perfect - the warm welcome, the comfort of our room (every little detail has been thought of), the delicious and creative breakfasts served with such good humour by Julia, Paris on the piano, the complimentary drinks before and after dinner, or just any time you like. And then of course the guidance provided by Nikos, which saved us a huge amount of time in researching what places to visit, how to get there where to eat etc. All his suggestions were spot on. His app is an ingenious idea and simple to use and we are grateful for all the arrangements Nikos made on our behalf. We availed of a tour guide and had an enjoyable few hours with Tsambika learning about Rhodes. We hired a car for the following day and got to do most of the itinerary suggested. My favourite stop was Villa de Vecchi for its eerie atmosphere and the village restaurant Paraga was the perfect place for lunch. We spent our final day ambling through the streets of the Old Town, doing some shopping and then spending a relaxing afternoon in Kokkini's beautiful courtyard. Thankyou Nikos, Angela, Paris and Julia for a such a memorable stay. Kokkini is a unique and very special place. We are glad that we got to experience it.
- Jona3margret (10/5): An extra ordinary experience. - If you are lucky enough to find a room available at Kokkini Porta Rossa, you should hurry to book it, even if the nightly rate is higher than at many other hotels. When we arrived at the hotel, we were seated and taken through what we wanted to see and do. We then received a personalized plan on how we could experience everything we wished for. Nikos pointed us toward unforgettable restaurants and cafés. We were also given tips on “hidden gems” that we otherwise would have missed. Breakfast was unlike anything else and was enjoyed in a beautiful outdoor courtyard, with the service being outstanding. A wonderful fruit basket, fine wine, and many other thoughtful details were all included. The rooms were very spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, and every single detail was carefully considered. We lacked nothing. The hotel has a very cozy lounge, and it was a delight to sit there and listen to a staff member play beautiful music. The service was personal, and we ended up seeing and doing much more than we ever dreamed of during our three days. We can’t wait to return.

Our room was very, very tastefully decarated and all conveniences thought out in detail. Ditto the lobby and the courtyard ehere we emjoyed Angela’s special breakfasts. Niko is a great host and a tremendous tour advisor who prepared daily tour suggestions for us both for walking in old town and driving around th island. And of course on where to eat, have drink or lick on an ice cream.

From the moment you enter the beautifully restored old building, you experience a degree of hospitality that is unique for its warmth and attentiveness. Yet at the same time it is quietly understated. Nikos, Angela and the team seamlessly manage to make you feel like one of the family, truly a special guest. They are singleminded in their attention to the individual needs of each guest. This is shown by Nikos’ individually prepared itinerary recommendations for each of his guests, Angela’s delicious breakfast creations, and the thoughtful touches in guest rooms. The hotel is a unique, boutique experience. Rooms are large and generously appointed. Breakfasts are delicious and served in a lovely internal courtyard. In the evenings guests can relax to Paris playing on the piano. The hotel is located just inside the walls of Old Rhodes and, as such, is ideally located for visiting the treasures of the city. Tricia and I cannot recommend Kokkini more highly. It truly is a rare gem!

The hospitality the Voulgaridis family and their staff provide is personal and with incredible attention to each and every detail to make your stay the very best you've ever experienced. The love they have for this property and joy they exhibit in sharing it with their guests was evident throughout my stay. I felt taken care of, watched out for, and wholly pampered. The rooms are lovely (I stayed in two of the suites) and appointed with unique and special items that added to the magical charm of my stay. The beds, pillows, and linens are comfortable and high quality. The only thing I would improve on is having some drawers in the sleeping spaces to enable one to unpack from the suitcase to settle in. Other than that - perfection! The breakfast that was prepared for me each day was outstanding. Oh my goodness! What a terrific way to start the day. I did not expect such a treat. As you journey out, there is an app you get to use which is the best tool to effectively explore Rhodes Island. So helpful and well-curated! I could go on and on about the positive reasons for staying at Kokkini Porta Rossa. If you are going to Rhodes, I encourage you to stay here for the best experience you can imagine. The owners designed every aspect of this beautiful home-like inn. The decor is artful and historic. Our "room" was a two story suite with living room, bedroom and study. Breakfast was a graciously served meal in the romantic patio. Our host was so knowledgable that we were glad to have him arrange our days. He has created an app that lets him provide a personalized itinerary for each guest. In our case, it included a private tour with a historian who explained the sequence of peoples who inhabited the island over the centuries and showed us examples of their architecture and artifacts. Our host provided recommendations for museums, walks, restaurants. Some evenings when we returned, their talented musician son was playing classical music on the piano. We left Kokkini Porta Rossa reluctantly, eager to tell our friends about this special island and our memorable stay.

We have stayed at many beautiful, luxurious hotels in the US and Europe, but in my opinion, Kokkini Porta Rossa far surpasses them all, especially if you gravitate towards elegant yet supremely comfortable, smaller boutique hotels that express the local culture. Physically exquisite and inviting in its medieval renovations— so much so that passersby’s often entered, mistaking the hotel for a historical landmark— its designs are a feast for the eyes that beckon you to sit down, sip a cocktail that’s always offered by the incredible hosts Niko and Angela, and take in the decorative art, books, historical objects, and garden patio. Every spacious suite’s decor is unique and possesses everything the hosts can imagine you’d want: including ever- replenished complimentary fruit, wine, liquor, plus all sorts of items they predict may be needed by someone at some time (pull-out clotheslines in the bathroom, for example). Breakfasts on the patio are Angela’s creation, and are sumptuous and delicious; and every day is an opportunity to hear as much as you’d like from Nikos about how to improve on your daily adventures in Rhodes. The location, a short walk from St John's Gate inside the walled city, is perfect for a visit to Rhodes Town. The hotel is immaculate and filled with interesting collections of books and objects of interest. Our suite was spacious, homey and comfortable despite its being beautiful, and every small detail was thoughtfully attended to. A delicious breakfast was served each morning with the same thoughtful care as the rest of the hotel. Our hosts, Nikos and Angela, were delightful, friendly, interested in us, eminently knowledgeable about Rhodes and eager to get to know us and our interests in order to be of the greatest possible assistance, which they were. We had an itinerary planned, which we learned Nikos had worked on with our trip planner, and after meeting us and discussing our interests, he helped tweak it to make it even better. Each day, we were greeted upon our return from the day's adventures with curiosity about our experience, and a desire to keep their information current, from restaurants to excursions of all sorts. Everything, from the in-room amenities, to the cocktails and treats prepared if we liked after an evening's meal, to Nikos and Angela's son Paris' piano music each evening, everything about our stay was flawless. Until this experience I would not have considered visiting Rhodes again from California, but Kokkini Porta Rossa makes a compelling case to do so.

The owners could not have been more helpful in showing us the places to visit and some very good places to eat as well. Charmingly furnished with an eclectic collection of items. Not to mention the open bar, and a guided introduction to some local spirits. Special mention of the breakfasts in the courtyard which are original and delicious. To be recommended.

It is within the walls of old Rhodes and is within a few minutes walking distance of all of the historical sites of Rhodes, including numerous restaurants and shops. Our suite was much more than we had expected, and decorated very tastefully matching the surroundings of historical Rhodes. Everything within is of a very high standard, and everything you may require is within the suite. Angela and Nikos, as well as all of their staff, are genuinely hospitable and very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They have a great sense of humour. They will arrange trips, book restaurants, taxis, and give tips of how to make the most of your trip within the walls and outside the walls of old Rhodes. Their son - Paris - is there playing a grand piano situated in the reception area during the late afternoon/early evening, which is very relaxing. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

If anyone is considering opening a small high end boutique hotel they should stay at Kókkini Porta Rossa and experience how it should be done. Nikos , Angela , Paris and their team cherish you as a guest and I cannot praise them highly enough. A lot of hotels have concierge services but Nikos takes this element to a new level with an itinerary for every day if you wish. The breakfasts are sublime and the free cocktails in the evening are a lovely touch. The price of the rooms is at the upper end of the range but you get exceptional value for money and we will be returning.

Nikos is Very helpful .breakfast is very special, all home made. The rooms are so clean and beautiful.. We loved it! One of the most special places we ever stayed !! Highly recommended.
- lizJ22 (10/5): A unique boutique hotel - don't miss - Kókkini Porta Rossa is a real gem set just inside the medieval walls within walking distance of the whole town and its many attractions. The beautiful interiors were a delight, thoughtfully finished with a carefully curated selection of furniture, artwork, books, etc and the suites with everything you could ever need. The hosts Nikos, Angela, Paris & Giulia made the experience very special from the lovely breakfasts to the pre & post dinner drinks - again all carefully selected. We relied heavily on Nikos for his insight in to what we should see and where to eat. I don't believe Kókkini Porta Rossa could be bettered.
- Jonathan (10/5): Beautiful, convenient and oriented to you having a wonderful time. - Such a beautiful place. Imagine waking every morning to your surroundings in a 14 century fortress brilliantly transformed into a very comfortable and exclusive hotel. The staff, the service and attentiveness of the owners make the stay special. The breakfast every morning was exceptional. My wife and I can’t imagine staying anywhere else on future trips to Rhodes. Certainly a benchmark experience.
- Shardul (9/5): Brilliant - Gem in the middle of old town. Excellent breakfast. It’s a family run hotel and the owners were extremely hospitable and helpful. They made our stay very memorable and I highly recommend this hotel to other guests. The bathing area was slightly cramped.
- Angela (10/5): - Our room was exceptional and the owners were unbelievably accommodating! We felt like we were their personal guests. They helped us plan our time, our tours and made our trip effortless. They treated us like we were visitors at their home. Best ever!

- Aslı (10/5): Perfect ! - How can i describe it ? ;) It’s like visiting your cousins ( but veryyy cool and tastefull ones) , so you feeling like you belong . They are not only caring about how your time is in the hotel , but also about your time outside . It’s like you have a personal travel planner which is a great luxury if specially you are like us , who didn’t had time to check about Rhodos before the trip . Exceptional thoughtful details in every angle of the stay . Definitely recommending this experience . And would like to thank again to the perfect hosts :) for the perfect hospitality. Hoping to visit again .
