Guest Reviews
- Aasen (4/5): -
- Bob (5/5): - Did not take breakfast at the lodge.
- MURAD ALI (7/5): - The location is extremely good right in the heart of Kariakoo market. They should rethink about their breakfast menu and start giving at least a water bottle to guests.
- Bob (5/5): Value for money! - The location is excellent and conveniently located within Kariakoo area. Further it is near the train station and easily accessible by public transportation. The location is within the market area and can be noisy during the day, The facility would do well to improve the general cleanness of the of the bathrooms!
- ANDRENKK (9/5): Passage at Kariako - The location. The staff, reception.proximity of shopping The breakfast is poor
- ANDRENKK (8/5): Sleep adventure in Dar es salaam - The staff. Accessibility Nothing, the breakfast
- Phindile (5/5): Bad experience - Nothing Everything

- Abdouroihamane (9/5): Séjour agréable et détendu - L'emplacement.
Le personnel disponible et agréable.
- Nazmin (6/5): It’s an affordable option if you are on a budget - Price was reasonable for the facilities Our twin room was very small with little room to manoeuvre around the beds. Area is very congested as it’s near a market.
- fauzia (7/5): Good - It was ok
- Kim (7/5): Decent place in central Dar. - Adequate hotel in a central location. Breakfast very tasty. Staff at front desk friendly. Room small. Only one towel provided, all though I had booked a double room. Restaurant staff not very attentive.
- Dr Chaula (4/5): - The breakfast was very good They didn't offer me the rate checkout
- HAMISI IDDI (9/5): My stay was great and enjoyable - The location Nothing

- Muhammad Junaid (2/5): - Not Like!! Everything

- Savi (10/5): Exceptional - I booked here while looking for a place in town. Honestly, I had an amazing experience at the property. It is around 3 to 4 mins drive away from town (with transport being very easy and convenient to get). The staff, the breakfast, the cleanliness and the rooms were all top notch. The manager even helped me find some good places for dinner. In a nutshell, I would highly recommend it and I will definitely come back.

- Dianne (6/5): Not for a novice traveller - Staff were ok, room really needs some maintenance, terrible bathroom door, restaurant could have more variety for Western travellers. Towels old, need hand towel, bathmat, decent soap. I wouldn't recommend for the novice traveller. Hotel is in a vibrant, busy area which I appreciate. Local merchants are friendly and helpful, bjaji drivers amiable and fun to converse with, curious about a 76 yr old female solo traveller. So love the locals!!
- GREGORY (10/5): - The staff was amazing help
- Perumal (5/5): Passable -
- Chimutu (7/5): Good -
- Osman (8/5): Very good -
- Christian (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was so friendly The air conditioner was making a loud noise.
- Jackson (4/5): Not a terrible hotel but absolutely not worth the price. - Great location, walking distance to many market places, downtown, bus stations, even the train station. Also fairly clean. The Wi-Fi was terribly slow and required a new pass from the front desk every 24 hours. I couldn’t even join a zoom meeting it was so slow, had to use a hotspot off my mobile.
Also the restaurant was very mediocre, did not have any alcohol on offer, and the service was very poor.
Finally complaint is that the water pressure was not good at all in the shower.
- Hussein (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lakshman (3/5): Poor - Location good Very bad condition & no microwave, teapot, & glasses
- Asbell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tamanda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Bernard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Herbert (8/5): Very good -
- Willice (9/5): Superb -
- Hope (2/5): Very poor -
- Lindeire (1/5): Bad - I dddnt like anything. The rooms were dirty. One of the guys who moved me to another room stole 100 dollars from me. They stole my money in the hotel. I am from Malawi and I will deal with the guy
- Eric (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (1/5): Beautiful facility with horrible management - I am so disappointed. My luggage was given to another client and the saddest but the manager walked off and left me at the reception. The receptionist was helpless. The receptionists are very good but I lost my luggage and then ager walked off since my check out was after her working hours.
- Mutalisha (5/5): The Hotel is generally good though a few patch ups will help them reach high heights business wise. - The Bedding were very clean.
Water licks all day whole night was so irritating.
Breakfast is a song as it's not English as advertised. Not to include Breakfast in the advert instead sale what they can afford to serve to client's as you can program your options as time is a factor.
Payment system at a time of checking out is a problem to this premises. They rely on an individual to say what is or what is not paid. Had to leave the premises without paying and advised them Front Office Lady to let me know of what i owed the Hotel which forced me to incur a cost of paying for a Taxi from the Airport to the premises to settle the amount that was communicated to me via a WhatsApp call which i felt and strongly feel as unprofessional.
- Niamat (2/5): Very poor -
- Ewnetu (6/5): - It is in crowded area which is not my choice
- Haydn (5/5): Passable -
- Ng'andu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is in a location that is pure chaos and needs a lot of repair AC was noisy and the building looks nothing like the photos
- Fernando (7/5): Good -
- Rachel (1/5): Bad -
- Sidik (10/5): Exceptional - Great place, friendly staff, was received at the reception with a very helpful lady.
- Sunny (4/5): all are not good in bathroom tab was damaged towel was bad smell room was not good - nothing all facilities not good
- Sergio (6/5): Basic a simple room to sleep which is ok for the price but without proper cleaning... not sure - Dirty room. Layers and layers of dust in the furniture and washroom lack of deep cleaning
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Esthery (5/5): Passable -
- Cockbill (7/5): Good -
- Wise (7/5): Good - Closeness to other services
- Chidavaenzi (5/5): Reception welcome & staff very pleasing. They served delicious meals - Breakfast was excellent The smell in the bathroom, I even complained at the reception & nothing changed. Rooms were not throughly cleaned and air freshener will also hence the smell in rooms.
- Busisiwe (5/5): Hotel in great location but thorough cleaning needs to be taken into account - The hotel is in a good location convenient for shopping. The bathroom basin was brown with dirt, bed had was dusty n had black particles and spider webs. Signs that house keeping was not done in a while.
- Samir (9/5): Superb -
- Jackline (8/5): Very good - Close proximity to Kariakoo market. No packed breakfast, though we had to leave very early in the morning.
- Jayaram (6/5): Pleasant - It is ok but they have improve .. I gave them a list with 24 points for improvisation. They assured me that they will consider my observations & implement. Catering and reception staff are very polite n helpful
- Stuart (10/5): - City centre location, less than 5mins walk.from where the bus to Dar Es Salaam departs/arrives.
Breakfast ok.
Room was clean and comfortable and was good value for money.
- Nayebare (2/5): Very poor - The stuff The rooms the bathroom and it was dirty
- Fadumo (9/5): Superb -
- Tesfaye (3/5): Poor - The location of the hotel is good. Poor restaurant service.
- Samuel (8/5): Very good -
- Samuel (8/5): Very good -
- Danish (6/5): - Room was so small bathroom door was not getting lock bad smell in room and bed.
- Shaa (10/5): - I love this property. Been staying here since the early 2000s. Cheap, close to city city, and to all that Dar Es Salaam has to offer.
I love the evening street meal just outside the hotel. From nyama choma to all the flovored India, Arabic, and persian cuisines. All at the lowest price anybody can afford.
I will be there everytime I visit Dar Es Salaam.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This field is a really dumb thing to require filling out guys.
- Sospeter (10/5): It was nice and Good - Well and good.Nice and it was nearly me, The Hotel is located nearly the City Center Markets Place in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. I very Interested.
- Verified traveler (10/5): nice hotel, the staff very friendly - add the beers, wine or etc. nice hotel without alcoholic beverage is bad
- Barry (6/5): Helpful staff - Very few roads are paved in this bottom rank third world city. Kariakoo is not an area for tourists, at all. Beware.
- Douglas (10/5): Good Value, in a Native neighbourhood - A clean and safe place, with a decent breakfast, but off the main tourist area, on southern Dar-es-Salaam. It is a 10 minute walk form City Mall, which has food stalls, and about 30 minutes' drive form the airport (taxi about 50,000 shillings, Uber about 20,000) It is safe, but quite a dark area at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - All of the staff was very respectful and helpful. The room was small but had everything I needed and was clean. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay there. It is downtown and there is easy access to everything.
- amar joseph (4/5): Low budget hotel - its a nice hotel to stay but being in a busy market place its too noisy. Anyone in the corridor is walking u can hear it . The room doors make noise when opened and closed. The vibration / airflow also effects ur room door as it vibrates. Bathroom is compact. Has shower option only. Hot water is thru geyser. The sink is Japanese size while faucet the Arab size so u always spill water. If bathroom door left open funny noise comes from the drainage. This hotel is dry there is no BAR . Breakfast closes at 10 AM. Room service is limited. There is a hawker opposite the hotel which serves nice BBQ and is reasonable $5 for 1/2 grilled chicken. The hotel does not provide any toiletries. The towel is worn out. No slippers are provide. No kettle in the room so no tea or coffee. No bottled water is provided. There is no safe in the room so u need to take care of valuable. Laundry is $1 which is reasonable. if low on budget this is the place to stay.
The double bed mattress was well used as if sleeping in a coffin. Which was changed on complaing on the 3rd day of my stay.
- Joy (6/5): - Our room was rather small. Hotel staff were friendly but we had difficulty getting hot water, despite complaining. On our departure morning the lock on our door jammed and they sent for a technician. Fortunately I was able to get it open in time to catch our ferry.
- Maggie (2/5): Hotel in the picture is NOT Sleep Inn Kariakoo - Located in a highly populated area of town, the first room had no windows and the mildew smell was nauseating. Second room had windows which kept the smell down. A fridge was the only blessing; nothing else. Sadly, it was a case of getting exactly what I paid for. Staff were very friendly. The hotel building is not the one in the photo on Expedia site. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. Expedia - please revise the listing.
- DINESH (8/5): Value for Money - The stay was comfortable and the staff was very co-operative. The deal was value for money.
- Croker (4/5): Hotel in the city but a bit scary (fearful) place - I had terrible night sleeps. nightmares throughout my stay in that hotel
- saifee akil (2/5): - Very bad , even they didnt serve water also after calling 5 times and area is also very backward
- Love to travel (10/5): Nice hotel - We were in Dar Es Salaam for two days prior to our interantional flight. My mom and I were travelling together. The staff at the Sleep Inn were very nice and accommodating. We needed to purchase an extra bag for our trip home, and the woman at the front desk asked one of the other hotel employees to show us where we could buy a bag. He walked us to a shop that was several blocks away, and also helped us bargain on the price. Very good service.
